Il Panino was closed so we ended up here as a second choice. Not gonna lie, we had LOW expectations but we were hungry. And wow this place did not disappoint. A large cheese pizza for 11 bucks and you really wouldn't expect much. But it was ready in 15 minutes and we devoured it. Just your regular old pizza, but it really was everything you could hope for from a not Italian pizza joint. As an add on, we also got a large order of onion rings. Honestly, they were also amazing. Again, we didn't have high expectations, but they were crispy and fresh and everything you could ask for from a large order of onion rings. 100% will be back for my last night food needs! read more

It has taken me way too long to review my weekly dinner creators! My family gets pizza here every week and it is reliably fast, cheap, and delicious. The crust is chewy, the sauce is tasty, and the topping balance is spot on. This is the pizza of your college years when you're a tad drunk and hungry at 1am. It is not gourmet, it's just a very tasty pepperoni made by guys who start to feel like friends after the 4th visit. Their credit card machine doesn't take tips so bring some cash and show them love! I haven't gotten anything besides, cheese, pepperoni, and green pepper pizza, so can't say much about the rest of the menu. Sometimes we call and it just rings and rings. But the nights they're open (like 99% of the year) you're going to have a hot tasty pizza dinner within 15 mins of calling and you're going to be happy with it. read more

Rizzo's has been a JP staple for decades! I've been going here since they were on the corner of Forbes and Centre. Like the mid 70's ouch! The two places are virtually the same in taste & price...rolls that taste like they are fresh off the truck that polluted its way down 93 from Market Basket. Half the menu is deep fried. The other half is deeply greased. Walk in with less than 10 dollars to order yourself a sandwich, side, and drink...you'll still have a couple bucks leftover. So why one star less than Nemo's? Well, Rizzo's doesn't have the friendly 'welcome to the neighborhood' feeling. Rizzo's is a 'What do you want/That'll be $8.00' type of place while Nemo's is a 'How ya been/See ya next time' type of place. If that makes any sense. read more

This is probably my favorite pizza joint in boston. If only the customer service was half as good as the food(which is decent at best) then maybe I could deal with it. I usually get cheese slices+fries and soda combination. One particular moment stands out to me as I ordered for pickup and simply asked "how much" and was rewarded with some rude responses such as "you order from here all the time" and to which I responded "nope, can you just tell me how much" and they continued this banter for about 40 secs until I hung up. Zero Stars!!! I can feel my arteries hardening just thinking about this place. I should have stuck with my usual Captain Nemo's but one night I ventured another block and decided to give this place a shot. My stomach will never forgive me. The first thing I noticed upon entering was the counter is extremely high. At 5'3" I felt like I could barely see over it. A strange thing to take notice of but it just seemed very unwelcoming to me. And I'm also sketchy and like to see who/what is touching the food I'm about to consume. The employees weren't anything to write home about either. Not especially chatty or friendly. The menu had the usual greasy/fried options you'd find at any pizza/sub joint. After careful consideration I decided to go for the steak and cheese. I was starving so by the time I got home I devoured almost half the sub without really tasting/thinking about it. But suddenly I realized that something just wasn't right. Although I couldn't put my finger on it I had someone else take a bite and they also agreed the taste was WAY off. This lead to me puking in an attempt to prevent possible food poisoning (TMI?). Against all odds, Rizzo's Pizza joint makes a slice that brings me back to my roots at New York's Famous Original Authentic Primordial Ray's Pizza. Seriously, Boston pizza sucks pretty hard... but these guys make a decent NY-style piece of action. The key? A thin but not leaf-thin slice thats cooked to the point of crunchy. Sauce and cheesing become automatic once you've mastered dough thickness and texture. It's no secret- the crispy under-texture that lifts this unassuming establishment to the status of best pizzeria in Boston is simply the result of a hotter oven. Recently moved to JP and I am fortunate enough to live directly across the street from this gem, I can't believe this place doesn't have loads of reviews, I never take the time to review places but these guys deserve it. Seriously some of the best "pizza shop" pizza I have ever had. The dough, the sauce, the cheese, all fantastic and the quality is always consistent, they don't skimp on the toppings and (during a pandemic) the price is right. I took my husband to Rizzo's on his birthday and we couldn't have been happier with the experience! WHAT AMAZING PIZZA! Perfectly crisp crust topped with the ideal balance of cheese and pepperonis! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and even gave my husband and I a free T-shirt because we mentioned it was his birthday! I was starving,so I went into this joint. Had to be next door to pick up a computer. I ordered one slice plain pizza and a coke. The guy said $6.00 minimum. OK I ordered two slices. Came to $5.50. He told me credit card not accepted unless I spend $6.00. I told him to add the 50 cents. Then he told me card can not be accepted unless I show my ID. After three negatives, I basically told him to stick the food up his rear end, and I left. I have never had to show ID when in a food establishment. He will never see me again.....Very poor and abrupt customer service. They should open a shop in New York where they also don't have much class for the most part in customer service......If they want your ID for a $6.00 purchase, I wonder what they want if it's a big order, maybe CASH ONLY...... read more

One fine afternoon, I woke up, came to the realization that I was still drunk and decided to get some greasy food in my belly pronto. Considering Rizzo's is literally down the street from me and I could stumble there quickly, I figured "what the heck" and proceeded to order a cheesesteak and mozzarella sticks. The cheesesteak wasn't really what I was expecting (the bread was extremely soft, the meet didn't have much flavor) but it got the job done. The mozzarella sticks were pretty decent considering they were clearly frozen. Beware of the tomato sugar water masquerading as marinara. Also, I think it is ODD that they wrap their hot sandwiches in plastic... that would be a potential reason why the bread was so soft. Either way, this place is a known quantity, it did not blow me away nor did it disappoint. read more

Pretty solid neighborhood pizza spot. Unlike most pizza in Boston, this one actually isn't bad! One small pie can feed 2 if you aren't famished and they're quick at making it.
