I was sitting in the park across the street reading when the rain suddenly started pouring down. I came in to Village Fare Pizza to stay dry but found a really fantastic slice of pepperoni, and lovely service! I met Kahn who told me that his family owns the place, and welcomed me to the neighborhood when I told him I just moved to nearby. To start off the food is not bad. The problem ended up being with the delivery guy. This was our second time ordering here. We waited while watching some tv for the phone to ring for delivery. When it did ring the guy was making himself upset saying loudly our phone was not on, started being argumentative carrying on. Some guy in a Canadian shirt/sweater The phone was on fully charged and we had just got off the phone with someone else 10 minutes prior. We noticed after he left the text we got from him said Come get your food Now! Even if there a phone issue it definitely wasnt on our end and lets say if it was there is no reason to act like that. Its unfortunate as we enjoyed the food but we wont tolerate this type of behavior so thats the last time we will order from here. 3/5 as the Food again was good imo. Great local pizza joint in the village! Tasty food, good amount of seating, nice people who work there ...can't really go wrong. And if you have a kid who is obsessed with ceiling fans , they have FOUR of them. It's probably best to walk here as it's at the intersection of Washington and Cypress , so it's kind of a cluster... but definitely worth the steps. Only complaint: like most fast pizza joints around here , it's a PEPSI place!!!! But they do have a small ice cream freezer and a dessert display, so they can mostly be forgiven. Staff is very friendly and easy-going, but their food is pretty standard and their options are what you'd expect from a pizza place...pizza, subs, hoagies, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and etc. However, there prices are pretty cheap so if I'm in the mood for something cheap and quick to eat before getting down to study, then I usually order in here. They also are very quick in getting their food out so you never have to wait too long. I normally get their salads, but once in a while I'll splurge and get a steak bomb, which is pretty much a loaded cheesesteak (which being from Philly, I'm always down for, but Philly is still No.1 for cheesesteaks). The food is good, nothing special but decent. The service is atrocious. The last 5 times we ordered from them, they have messed up our order. The first few times, it was a minor thing- something that we asked for grilled was not grilled. But the last two times, it was them totally giving us the wrong thing, or giving us someone else's order. I mentioned that it was becoming an ongoing issue when I showed up to get the last item they forgot to include. The person at the counter's reply? "Yeah, yeah, yeah." I can't believe no one's ever reviewed this place. I've had Village Fare on several occasions, and it always seems like I have a different experience each time. It would seem, in my opinion anyway, that consistency is not a strength of Village Fare. Anyway, I digress. I've had good and bad pizza here. Nothing stellar, but I've had much worse. Last night my roommate and I ordered a small mushroom, pepperoni, and green pepper pizza and some wings, and plopped on the couch to gorge ourselves on fat and grease while watching some trashy TV on VH1. The pizza was pretty unimpressive. It was SUPER oily, and felt slightly underdone. I feared that all of my toppings would slide right off the pizza. However, it was actually pretty tasty. This could have also been because I was starving and would have eaten close to anything at that point. I have had much better from Village Fare in the past. The wings were better. I loathe that floppy chicken-skin texture, so the skin needs to be crispy. These wings were delightfully crispy and spicy. However, this morning I felt sick to my stomach, likely from eating all that grease and fat so late at night. OK i"ve been in this place so many times and just now i realized i didn't write anything good about them so that's what i'm gonna do. I'll go by category and tell you what i like about them. So let"s start! :) PIZZA: It's a very good crust and crispy. Not too thick but not too thin. Something in middle. Red sauce is perfect. Not too sweet but not salty. If you look at their menu on www.villagefarepizza.com you will see a lot of different pizza styles. Veggie delight is one of the famous pizzas, especially if you are vegetarian then definitely try it. It's all sort of vegetables you want on your pizza. I love buffalo chicken or ultimate pizza with Alfredo sauce, broccoli and chicken. Alfredo sauce is good because they make by them self so it's always fresh. There bunch of pizzas that i love and never got disappointed with my order. CALZONES: Incredible! Did you see how many cheese they put: inside and on top of calzone that make it crispy. Very yammy. PASTA: Always fresh, never watery. You know sometimes you order pasta and it's seems it was sitting in water for long time so here is different. They always put enough red sauce. and always cheese on top of the pasta and no charge for it. :) Pasta with pesto sauce is very good but unfortunately only one guy make it the way i like. DINNERS: Huge! Comes with lot's of fries and fresh salad. . Chicken or steak is incredible. Plus you can get onion rings instead fries. If you are very hungry then go for it :) SALADS: That's one of my favorite. Really good. Always fresh no complains about it! SIDE ORDERS: I'm not a big fan of fries but this is the only place i buy from if i want something fried and unhealthy:) Fried calamari is very good. All side orders comes in pretty good size. Have gotten take-out from here plenty of times through the past few years. The food is consistently well made. Our go to is the Buffalo chicken calzone, which is delicious and one of the better ones in the area! We've tried the Meat Lovers Pizza, Cheese Pizza, wings, tenders, salads... Very very very angry at delivery service. I ordered for staff over an hour ago and we are here starving right now. I have called TWICE to check on my order. My food is still not here and nobody at village faire pizza cared to reassure me that my food was coming or say anything to make me feel better. he told me "its busy when i called" ... I went to apply to Village Fare Pizza for a job when I saw a help wanted sign on the front of the store. Woman employee said they were not hiring. I found it suspicious that they still had the help wanted sign up since it takes all of 2 minutes to take down the sign if they weren't hiring anymore. My partner and I were frantically preparing for the next evening's Holiday Party one recent night after work when she suddenly asked me what was for dinner. Having no idea we decided to use the Village Fare coupons we received in the mail many moons ago. We ordered the Family Pack--chicken wings, a 2-Liter soda, a large pizza, and fries. I was excited about what seemed like a deal that was too good to be true; all the above for $20.99. Well kids, it was too good to be true. The pizza reminded us of the Tombstone microwaveable pizzas you had after school in high school; the fries and wings weren't much better. Not-good-dot-com. Repeat customer here. They have the fastest delivery around, so I keep ordering from them. We usually get the Chicken Fajita pizza. Awesome stuff with a little extra jalapeno peppers on the top. I saw them make it once and I liked the way they were grilling the chicken right before they put it on the pizza then into the oven. Their Grinders and salads are also pretty good. Village Fare is really nothing special. I used to go there after school and grab food with all my buddies and we'd sit around and laugh and eat for hours because, well, we didn't really have much to do outside of that. Village Fare was often the recreational activity when you didn't care to involve yourself in extracurricular activities or to do something worth while. Honestly, it's just decent food that just happened to be convenient. I would like to say that I could live without it, but there aren't a ton of food options in that area, so it'd probably be best to give these folks our business so they'll stick around. read more

This review is for their delivery only. A fairly (do I dare say cheap!) priced place that delivers decent food. While nothing special this is a good place to order delivery. A large pizza, small garlic bread and surprisingly good onion rings for $16.25 (plus tip), I called them after I got a bunch of menus drooped off at out mailboxes. We got the pizza (we wanted 1/2 cheese and 1/2 pepper and onion but they did 1/2 w peppers and 1/2 onion) and it was pretty good. it isn't italian style...I'd say it is more like a greek style pizza. This is not the best pizza ever and it isn't bad. Here is the weird thing -- they list cheddar cheese w/their egglant parm subs -- ?!?!!. Who puts cheddar cheese on an eggplant or chicken parm sub?! When I ordered from this place I ordered a Cobb salad and there was a fly in my food I called them to tell them and the response was we don't have flys in our store which is a lie every store has flys. Then I asked Can I get a new one and they stated are you going to come pick it up. They did not give me my money back but they did bring me a new salad which I was not pleased with. Ordered a Greek salad with chicken to go, and got a massive pile of greens and veggies loaded with tons of fresh Feta and topped with large, juicy, flavorful pieces of chicken. I couldn't even finish it all, it was so much food, and that chicken was excellent. Solid choice. It did cost me about $10 which hurt a bit... they didn't ask about sizing when I ordered via phone so I figured they just had one size, but now I'm thinking maybe they defaulted me to a large (so check your sizes beforehand). It wasn't absolutely AMAZING pizza, it's still pretty damn good! I mean really, I don't know where pizza is amazing around here - anyone?? (And no, I don't think Upper Crust is great) Anyways, the pizza is good - it's got a good crust - not crazy thick, but not too thin (like some upscale chain!). The sauce & cheese are good. The only "downside" is that the mushrooms are canned - but I'll be honest with you - I like canned mushrooms! (I can't tell you why though!) It's just that Yelp's 3-star "A-OK" rating is exactly what Village Fare is: A-OK. *thumbs up!* It's cheap-ish, although I still can't justify spending over $10 for a small veggie pizza sometimes. Now you're just being stingy, Dara ... anyway, their pizza is generally good. I wouldn't recommend getting a slice from the little window: they tend to be kind of dry and heat-lamped to death. Just buy a small pie; you'll want more soon anyway. They are damn generous with their toppings: that aforementioned veggie pizza is not to be eaten with one's hands but rather a fork and knife. The dough is a bit on the thick side, which can be unpleasant ... unless you are a fan of Frank's Red Hot, as I am. Sides are okay. Fries kind of bland, O-rings nice and crispy and big. Salads are big and tasty. They actually grill chicken breast rather than using Perdue freezer-bag chicken strips o' death. Almost $8 for a chicken Caesar ain't bad when it lasts through two sittings. Interior looks like any pizza shop but they usually have European football matches on. Or CSPAN. I've spent many an hour watching CSPAN here. Guys slinging pies behind the counter are nice enough. First and last time I will be coming here. The pizza, unfortunately, was NOT good. I walked in for a slice and a drink, and the pizza did not taste fresh. I couldn't even fold it. So they do make good pizza in Boston. Found it! This little shop has all the right ingredients for good 'za and they know how to use them. I had a feta cheese, bacon, artichoke heart and anchovie. You heard me right. And to top it off, a side of fried clams. Service was great and friendly, the place was clean and didn't smell like last nights grease (surprisingly, a common find in a lot of places). The crust was excellent, crispy and tasty to the edge. The only dinger I give them is because the clams were average, nothing to write home about. Or even mention here. So I won't. Oh. Wait.... Said it would be DELIVERED between 7:50-8pm and when i called at 8:30, was told that it wouldnt be delivered for another 10 minutes (basically, they forgot my order and was going to rush it then.)
