I recently moved to JP from NYC and have been looking for my "go-to" pizza parlor. Since moving in, I've visited the JP location on Centre Street a few times, always for a slice. Last week, we decided to order a whole pie online. I tracked the order and was amazed that the driver was on his way within 20 minutes of receiving the order. We asked ourselves, How is this possible? Unfortunately, the pizza arrived cold. That's how it was possible for the driver to arrive so quickly. Clearly, they sent us a pre-made pizza. Lesson learned: DON'T ORDER CLOSE TO CLOSING TIME. They probably were dying to end their shift so they sent us a cold pie. DISAPPOINTED. The pizza is good but if I return, it will be for a slice, only! I'll keep looking for the right place to order delivery from. read more

We were immediately greeted upon walking in, the service was super friendly and welcoming. The menu is large and it was hard to choose just one thing! (Spoiler alert, we will absolutely be coming here again even though we live 45 min away!) We got a meatball melt, eggplant caprese and curly fries. Absolutely phenomenal; super fresh, tasty and quick service. The BLT was awesome bread was fresh toasted had sesame seeds on the rim of bread. Lettuce & tomato fresh bacon was crispy and cooked not soggy! The Texan was phenomenal the chicken cutlet was crisp on outside and moist inside not dried out! Bacon was also great the bbq sauce pepper cheese great together, you get so much chicken it's a huge sub! The food was Could only eat half and saving the rest for dinner tonight WOW! We went here randomly on Father's Day because we were searching for a quick place to eat. The huge menu and the amazing cookies on display definitely caught our attention. We all ordered something different. I ordered the Ultimate BLT with avocado, my husband ordered the Nashville Chicken Cheesesteak and my sister ordered a Steak and Cheese. All three sandwiches/subs were super flavorful, great portions and so fresh! We also ordered some cookies for dessert. The Smores cookie was amazing I would definitely recommend. The service was great. We ate in and they brought our food directly to us and it seemed like it's a go to spot and people love coming here. We got there and instantly the place was packed. So, you're probably wondering if The Real Deal is the real deal - based on my experience with the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, I can confidently say "yes!" Sometimes when it comes to sandwiches, I go ham with the toppings. I have been known to go to Subway, and say "everything but...". At the same time, I appreciate that sometimes, less is more. This was the case here, with the chicken, pickles, and especially the sauce being all this sandwich needs. Let me tell you about this sauce, because it was a rare case where I could devour a sauce as if it were soup! This hasn't happened in a year! It was a blend of their nashville and a honey creme-fraiche. It hit all the notes for me: it was a little spicy, smoky, savory, creamy, and had a hint of sweetness too - absolutely incredible! The chicken itself was cooked well, being crisp, hot, and tender. Pickles were in perfect amount as well, enough to convey some crispness, acid, and salt without being overpowering or hidden. by the way, the 'leaking' sauce seen in the photo was complete non issue, and made it all the better as I could taste it on its own. In terms of value, $12 feels like a more than reasonable value considering the quality and freshness of the sandwich. Thus, though I initially wasn't feeling wraps/melts/sandos in general while visiting JP, I am very glad I stopped in, and am looking forward to trying more of their offerings in the near future. read more

This was exactly what we needed after a hot morning walk at the Arboretum. It had a wide variety of sandwiches and pizza slices ready to go. Jamaica Plain is my home town even though sadly I had moved away recently but my go to once a week was the Real Deal which so many years ago moved into the old Brighams restaurant The staff are always down to earth and welcoming. In the last ten years I had used the online ordering and not once did I get a wrong order. My Husband is rather partial to hamburgers so our go to dish was the Green Monster or the Wolfman. Also, the onion rings are to die for- crunchy breading never soggy. I look forward to my trip home soon and drop in for a burger takeaway. At 7.15pm I phoned in an order for the delivery of pizza. My credit card info was taken. I called at 8.15 to ask how much longer for delivery. Got the voice message that it closed at 8pm and delivery stopped at 7.30. So inefficient, and terrible service. The woman taking the order did not inform me of their hours and therefore should not have taken the order. It would have been courteous to call me back and inform me of their error. I want to give them more stars because their food is good when it's right, but for me that's not often! Yesterday I ordered a Leo the lion on a wrap (it came with wilted lettuce, weird American cheese, on a poppy seed roll which I'm allergic to smh & I had to dig through that lettuce to even see any chicken salad. Wish I could've tried it at least. I also ordered a Texan no tomatoes. (Texan had tomatoes, the chicken and bread were burnt & there was barely any bbq sauce but plenty of tomatoes. Since I picked up right before closing, I confirmed with the man that my order would be right because the last time it wasn't, and they told me to mention that when I came back in. He nodded said it's right & he made sure. Nonetheless I get home after a long day hoping to enjoy our subs, and we ended up throwing them away & having to order out. Walking around jamiaca plain and I see a sign in the window saying "$1 for a slice of cheese pizza. Limited time." So now I'm curious to see if this deal is actually legit. I go inside and there's just a handful of other customers. I ask the cashier about the $1 pizza slice and they reply it'll take about 18 mins. No problem! I leave and come back in 18 mins....flash forward....I walk in asking for a slice of the $1 cheese pizza. The woman seemed annoyed and asked another employee to take the pizza out of the oven. I don't mind because by now my mouth is watering. I sit down at the window counter seat so I can people watch and eat the pizza. First impression, the pizza is warm and it just came out of the oven. I dab the oil off, but because there's not that much cheese, there's not that much oil. I take my first bite and I like it because the thin crust is crunchy. But its seriously lacking in flavor. They have a surprisingly excellent turkey burger (mine had cheddar, bacon, avocado, tomato, and lettuce. Everything on it was just right- the right portions, the right freshness, the right textures, the right bun (loving the seeds on the top), the right flavor, the right side of fries (skin-on fries too, yum). All this for only like $12, ready in like 7 minutes? Yes, please. The Cuban is solid too- not authentic because it was on a pressed herb foccacia (which BTW was excellent), but tasty and satisfying. The first time that I tried this place, I ordered a Cuban sandwich and I really really loved it. It was very delicious. Today, me and my boyfriend decided to order dinner from here, he ordered a burger and I ordered a capresse melt and I must say that I am very disappointed at it. It supposed to come with mayo and pesto and it tastes more like mayo and eggs. They put a lot of mayo and you can't even taste the pesto. It's supposed to be a "melt" but the cheese wasn't melted at all. I thought that it was going to be sliced thing melted mozzarella. It was cold thick mozzarella. Next time I'll just stick to the Cuban sandwich, I pretty much just ate half of the sandwich because it wasn't good at all and to end, they put a lot of red onions. Good Morning, I placed an order yesterday for a company meeting. I placed the order at 12:16pm to be delivered to my store on Washington St. in Roxbury. App said approximately 30 - 45 minutes. When the order finally did come, about 2pm, I found out too late that the driver left the order on the sidewalk in front of the store for anyone to help themselves, which they did. What kind of delivery service is that. Not only were you over an hour later than promised, but the entire order was not edible by the time it was found. When I called the number available I was told you would refund less than half the cost I paid. I received nothing, and that's what it was worth. I will dispute the charge with my credit card company. I understand an establishment not allowing dogs. What I don't understand is why they thought it was ok to serve me a COLD slice of pizza to go. I came in to grab a slice TO GO with my puppy under my arm. The girl at the register told me there were no dogs allowed so she would fix me up to go. Which I expected. She could have asked me to wait outside until it was ready, which I would have happily done. Instead she threw my pizza in a bag, charged me, and rushed me out. Real Deal was my favorite pizza place. The Italian Chopped Salad is truly a work of ART. I am not exaggerating when I say that I have been waiting 6 years to have this salad again. Circumstances beyond my control prohibited me from enjoying this salad regularly over the years (closure of the Cleveland Circle location, Uber Eats did not exist yet, and WORST of all - this is a seasonal menu item). In the bullets below, I will prove that the Italian Chopped Salad should be elevated from occasional seasonal addition to permanent, main menu status. - A romaine and arugula chopped mix, done well, is a rare find. Yes, for a major price upgrade you can craft something similar as a base from "sweet green" but let's face it - it's not worth the cash and it's not as good. - A melody of perfect lettuce varieties, this salad uses only the good notes. With pops of pepperoncino, and dashes of the mozzarella, salami and cucumber, each are perfectly chopped into bite sized pieces. Many do not know the importance of a consistent chop but, lucky for us, this chef sure does. - If nothing else about this salad interests you thus far, the choice of dressing is sure to change your mind. A consistent crowd pleaser, white balsamic vinaigrette is a milder version of traditional balsamic, which is a treat for balsamic fans and haters alike. The Real Deal serves Emack and Bolio's ice cream, which was rich! The chocolate addiction was very good. Vanilla bean and espresso was nothing to write home about. The atmosphere of this place is just... weird. Customers were either 16 years old or 80+. Our table was dirty. Weird paintings of cartoon characters are on the walls.
