Forest Lawn Cypress needs to do a much better job of maintaining the grave markers on their property. When you purchase property at a cemetery you pay into a fund that maintains the grave. Below are two examples where the name of the deceased is partially covered up by grass. In addition, they need to paint numbers on the curbs that correspond to many of grave numbers in various sections to make finding a grave easier. Finally, to help locate a grave there are small round cement blocks that show coordinates that correspond with various areas. The vast majority of these plot markers have been almost entirely covered by grass so is extremely difficult to find the final resting place of a loved one. Forest Lawn Cypress is considered to be a high-quality Memorial Park. They really need to step up their game to maintain that high level of professionalism. read more

My Grandma was buried at Forest Lawn Cypress in April 2021 and since then we've filed 4 previous complaints due to theft from the flowers/roses left at her plaque. So far within those 4 complaints, we've only received 1 remedy which was a $50 gift card, hsable only at their flower store which was enough to cover 1 pot of flower due to the high price. We've spoken with several people regarding this issue and even spoke with the maintenance manager Arvin to see if any actions can be taken to further prevent this from happening. He advised us to send him photos via email to show proof of the incident. It has been almost 3 months and still no answer from anyone at Forest Lawn including their own maintenance manager. I'm forced to purchase cheap flowers to leave at my Grandma's site because not only do I not trust leaving flowers there anymore to be stolen again but also the lack of effort (or any in this case) from the staff. I am writing this review due to a 5th incident that occurred sometime last week as we visit weekly. As clearly shown, there are clear scratches on my grandmother's plaque. When we arrived at the site today, one of the flowers was also knocked over in which I suspected this was caused my maintenance. This incident caused the tipping point as it clearly shows the lack of empathy and care from their maintenance team. There is no possible way these scratches occurred due to natural causes and can only be caused my a machine (or Lawn mower). It's honestly appalling that in a span of 16 months, we've had to witness and experience all these incidents that happened with my Grandmothers plaque and I can't even imagine what other mistakes will be made in the next year. If there's one thing I regret, is choosing this company and location as a site for my Grandma to be laid because I'll always have to worry for the rest of my life for future potential theft or damages. I've attended two funerals in the past year. Wait time to start funerals was fine. The services were good, but I am not a fan of recorded "canned" music during the service. They play pre-recorded singing. Being that I am a professional singer, I find it tacky. Live music is always more meaningful. But I can understand why people would want to keep it simple. My only other complaint is that there are no signs directing you to Patriot Hall and there was no attendant in the information booth. Came here for a burial. The grounds appear immense, but the grounds are not as pretty as Forest Lawn in Glendale. This Forest Lawn doesn't seem to have the multiple structures like the one in Glendale. I noticed a lot of flat land though where as the one in Glendale seems to have more rolling hills. But after being contacted by a rep named Sheyla Celis and being told that I could have my marker words in 3 wks... well I have yet to hear back from her. I emailed twice, left voice mails and again NOTHING! I don't understand why or maybe I do since they got their money in full for the service and now can care less about ordering a marker. I attended a funeral here outside. There was a tent set up on the lawn. Therefore two rows of folding chairs. It was a small group, but five people were left standng in the back. Listen, Forest Lawn I will start to go to other avenues of publicity if you don't stop with your inconsiderate and inconsistent practices. We just buried my brother here after you all had him for more than 60 days. The lack of respect to leave a note to tell us to pick up our belongings before you throw them away would be appreciated. Your employees choose which decorations to throw away and which to keep which is now fair to all the families. Other Forest lawn locations allow for personalized gifts for our loved ones and yet there is no clear and consistent practices. Everyone that works here pretends to care about you and your family and the minute you hand them the check, they stop caring. They've recently implemented stricter policies to how you can decorate your loved one's grave. Their reason for it is their machinery gets ruined when they mow lawns and decorations become projectile, but try telling that to the grass that's up to your knees when you walk around the park. They treat it as if their machines are more important than families coming to pay their respects. I have yet to see anyone come by the entire area my father is buried in to "maintain" or "upkeep". One week, a maintenance worker removed our trinket to use as a paper weight to place a decorating guideline on another family's grave sight. Last week, they removed our spinners. Then this week they removed all the trinkets in one of the 3 potted plants we have on my dads grave sight. None of the plants were dying and all of it complied to what the guidelines were. Yet they have the audacity to say someone else might've stolen it, when the only pattern here is their staff always coming by to remove things. Grounds are well kept If you call 3 days at least in advance they will trim the grave for you so that when you go you can clean it and place flowers I wish they will close 5:30pm on winter time. I work and it's challenging to make it when i myself get off at 5pm. Summer hours are from 8:00am to 6:00pm and mausoleums close at 5:45pm. On Winter only they close at 5pm and mausoleums at 4:45pm Everyday is a gift make sure you enjoy everyone and everything in your life. Funerals are expensive! Even though my parents purchased plots, I didn't realize that the arrangements would cost a semester's worth of private college. To see the truck pounding the dirt over the grave seemed like rubbing it in but the staff was kind about giving me a bottled water for my cough. They also gave family white roses to put on the casket. I like admiring the flower arrangements on newly buried plots. Its very festive during the holidays, with miniature Christmas trees and poinsettias. My relatives admired the flat lawn. My mother did have a hard time getting in touch with someone to add another vase. The chapel was nice for the viewing but one upstairs room for the wake is too small. The gift shop has cute keychains and nice displays but its cheaper to buy a few grocery bouquets instead. read more

I attended my mother in laws viewing here. The event room was a nice size. My father in law did all the arrangements so I cannot rate how the experience was. However, the turn out of the viewing was very nice. My mother in law resides in the mausoleum. The interior is kept clean but it does have a funky smell. I know it houses the deceased but they may consider better ventilation for preservation purposes. It's nice that there is a flower pot room where you can obtain the hooks and vases to place for your loved one. The grounds leading to the Mausoleum is nicely trimmed and kept clean. My aunt had her viewing and burial services here. From the main street (Lincoln), the park is beautiful! Huge mansion with lots and lots of green acres. The viewing was held on a Friday night. When we arrived, we were led to an upstairs room. I was a little disappointed with the layout. There were multiple viewings going on at the same time and the room that we were in was very small. We were promised a room for our reception, but the room was shared with community tables. SERIOUSLY?! After we complained we were given a private room for our guests after the prayer service. The room was small and it was hard to maneuver around the room. My cousin mentioned that we were supposed to be given a screen to play the memorial DVD, but we were given a 13" TV with DVD player. OK REALLY?! The following day was when we buried my aunt. Her grave site was lovely and she has a spectacular view. The gentleman from Forest Lawn was extremely helpful throughout the entire service. The weather was warm and Forest Lawn had a cooler with waters for us. There were limited amount of chairs for immediate family and the service was quick. Seven months after my moms services and she is still in an unmarked space. We checked in with the front desk. They said they "lost the paper work" that we filled out. How about you call the family to let them know you lost it and get the inscription information again. Instead they take your money and hope you won't notice they're incompetent at their job. I was the first appointment in the am and was still made to wait over 15 minutes past our appt time.
