I had plans to visit friends in the area. Since I needed a mani-pedi for a trip, they recommended Forever Nails & Spa to avoid going out of my way to my usual salon. Their Yelp reviews looked good overall, so I made my appointment for a Spa Manicure-Pedicure. When I arrived, it seemed that the woman in charge couldn't find my appointment and started to yell in Vietnamese. A girl then came from the back, looked at me and said, "chair 4". A couple minutes later, another girl came out for my manicure. No one introduced themselves or offered a nail color chart. I saw a small basket with a few, so I grabbed a couple on top. I let them know that I wanted a solid color for my toes and French tip for my fingers. Both tried to upsell me to gel nails to which I nicely said, "no thank you". Then I was asked if I wanted callous removal -- I don't have callouses -- again, "no thank you". They then asked if I wanted to pay ahead of time to avoid ruining the polish. I've never had that asked before but went ahead with it. My spa mani-pedi was finished in just under 20 minutes, then was told to wait 5-10 minutes to let my nails dry and they left. I thought someone would come back to remove the tissue they stuck in between my toes. Fifteen minutes later, I realized (by the smell of food coming from the back room) that most of the staff was eating lunch, so I took the wads out myself and walked out. The woman in charge didn't even look up. At closer look when I got home, the poor job on my nails was disappointing. Cuticle grooming was quite minimal. Although the pedicure was ok, edges were clumpy and nail polish smudges were left around most of my toenails. The French tip manicure was uneven. At my usual salon (NailFix), about 30 minutes is spent on a manicure or pedicure. And that's after I'm nicely greeted and offered several nail palettes/charts. They also spend time in the details -- unrushed massage, meticulous cuticle grooming, cleaning under each nail, even nail color application, taking a small brush with acetone to clean off any polish smudges around each nail and removing the foam (not torn tissue wads) separators from my toes. Needless to say, I won't be back. NOTE: After posting pictures for this review, I received a call from Tessy, the owner/manager. She was nice and very apologetic for the poor experience. She offered to redo my mani-pedi for free that evening. But I was already home and was busy packing. She then said to message her when I got back to schedule the free services and asked that I take down the pictures. I did that but kept this review in draft. I reached out to Tessy when I returned from my trip. She didn't seem to remember me, which was ok since I'm sure she handles a lot of customers. She graciously accommodated an appointment for the free mani-pedi she promised. However, later I received an email from Yelp reminding me that "Writing, editing, or taking down a review in exchange for anything of value is a violation of Yelp's policies". I was not aware of this and found the timing strangely coincidental. I contacted Tessy again to let her know. I thanked her for her efforts (added an extra star for that) and cancelled my appointment. read more

It's been one week after my pedicure with Tara and my left big toe is still too painful to walk on. While she was doing the pedicure, she was cutting and digging into both my big toes and I told her it was painful. This was only my second time coming here. The first time I had Katy and it was also a bit painful during my pedicure, but eventually the pain went away. This time around, the pain is still present after one week and I may need to go to the doctor. Needless to say, I won't be coming back to this place again. read more

I have visited a couple of times and my nails lift within a week. The acrylic nails are very thick and chunky-not as elegant as they should be. I go there only because my usual salon is busy. I went for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. I honestly was not content with the work done. It felt so rushed and my shape wasn't exactly what I wanted for my nails. I also don't like when the gel is bumpy or there's dust stuck on the nail gel. The worst part was that my nail tech didn't separate the skin from the drying gel so when they were done, my skin on my fingers needed to be separated from my nails since they didn't properly clean the edges to ensure no nail gel stuck to my skin. It felt awful and that's my biggest pet peeve. The nails techs were really nice but I don't like feeling rushed and like they need me to leave and that's what it felt like + the pet peeves mentioned above. For this reason I rank it 2 because I just definitely wouldn't come back. I love when a nail place gives good service and does excellent work and this wasn't the case at all. This is the first time going to this nail shop. At the last minute my friend and I decided to get pedicures. We decided on the European Pedicure which was $40. It included a 10 minutes massage and you can choose between a paraffin wax or callous treatment. We both opted for the paraffin wax. My manicurist seemed to be in a rush. So I decided to time my "10 minute" leg massage. It was 7 minutes at the most. She rushed cutting my cuticles, didn't leave the paraffin wax on as long as my friend's manicurist and rushed to polish my nails. I thought the polish looked good. But when I came home and took a closer look. Not so good. (see the picture) I will redo the polish myself. The whole time I'm sitting next to my friend and watching her get her pedicure and her manicurist (Brian) taking his time on her cuticles, massage and painting of her nails. He put on her color and waited about 5 minutes before putting on the top coat and then told her to sit there while they dried. My girl finished my nails about 10 minutes before my friend and as I mentioned earlier, her manicurist started before me. I finally asked her at the end if she was in a rush and she said with an attitude, "NO". I never say never but I don't think I will be going back to the shop. If I do I will ask for Brian. He was great and my friend really liked her pedicure. I forgot to get the name of my manicurist, but she is a heavier set girl. I wasn't going to post a review until I saw how she polished my nails. I got gel x nails and a gel pedicure. Paid $105 Plus $10 in tips. In the first week, 4 days after getting them done, I lost 3 of my gel x nails, they replaced them no problem. Then 2 days later I lost 2 more nails which they also replaced without a problem. Now 3 days after the second repair a nail just fell off !!!!! The products they use for gel x clearly don't work well as I am not rough on my hands or anything. Gel x usually lasts at least 3-4 weeks when I get it. I will not be back here nor do I recommend anyone else to go here. Would give zero or negative stars if I could! At this salon there isn't an inexperienced nail tech. Lee does the best pedicures and a great massage. Everyone does a great job at the salon which I've been to many nail salons in the past and it's hard to find a salon that you can get anyone and they can all do an amazing job. I appreciate that Forever Nails is appointment only and it was super easy to make an appointment. When client come in through the door they politely turned away and informed of their appointment only system. I appreciate that. When you enter the salon they ask you to wash your hands and you see all staff wearing masks. There is also a plexiglass type of barrier on the manicure tables as well. You also find hand sanitizer around. The services provided are wonderful. I have gotten a spa gel pedicure and acrylics done. And I have been happy and very much satisfied each time I have been here. Mamasan was a bit gruff which I was worried would set the tone for the experience, but the nail techs were polite and did a good job. There was a discrepancy between what was offered and what we paid, and after asking we were informed certain things we were asked about during the process were add-ons. The price ended up being a little steep for a mani-pedi with no polish or buff. I wouldn't avoid going back because the salon is clean and the nail techs were friendly, but we are going to try some other places in SCV before going back. I'm not a complainer, or an avid yelp-er, but I am very disappointed with my experience I asked for acrylics and they were pushing gel x on me pretty hard. I caved and instantly regretted it. They were not fitted to my nails properly and had to get them removed a week later because they looked so bad. I got a gel pedicure as well and was charged $20 extra for gel, and it was not communicated. Gel is usually about $10 more but I understand every salon is different. I'm upset that there was no communication on that part. When a woman next to me tried to express her confusion on the price the manager was very rude right off the bat and dismissed her. Also on my pedicure, my cuticles were flooded and polish was all over my toes. I was also upsold on a callous remover and my feet were so rough the next day I could hear them in my sheets. Not a very good experience. The sister of the owner was there and I felt like all the employees eyes were on her the whole time, since she talk too much, bossy too much, and suggested too much. I have been going to Forever Nails for over a year now. I use to get dip manicure and gel pedicure. For the most part, they did a good job regardless of who I went to. Some nail technicians were better than others. For example, some nail technicians made the dip too thick and it would be sharp when it grew out. I recently switched to regular nails because I haven't been able to come in consistently to maintain dip or gel nails. I felt pressure from the nail technicians to continue getting dip and gel nails when I asked for regular polish. My pedicure cure was fine but the they did a poor job with my manicure. It was not smooth and consistent at all. I won't be coming back to get a regular manicure here. read more

The ladies who did my nails were fairly nice but receptionist was kinda bossy and it was a very rushed experience overall. I still cannot believe how quickly I was in and out. That's not a good thing For me, part of the appeal of going for a mani/pedi is the relaxation and the pampering. Massages (if you can call them that) were rushed, soaking was little more than a dip, and I was out with both services in about 20 mins. Polish was ok and what I ultimately needed. If you want a quick experience, this might be the place for you, but I don't think I will be back. read more
