The food is actually better than the one I had at the Citizen in downtown and also slightly cheaper too. I ordered the customized Omelette. Make sure you bring your wallet with you because they don't have Apple pay

Their Old Fashion cocktails are spot on! Fabulous drinks, great food, excellent ambiance. Located inside the Marriott they have a great pool side seating area and lovely decor in the general restaurant areas.

Not going to lie.. I really wasn't surprised at all. I read some of the reviews and they are pretty accurate with what they say. My gf and I came here for Valentine's Day. 5 course meal for $58 per person. Which to be honest is not bad at all. As we arrived the host greeted us. Every monotone and sounded like she hated her job. Anyways we sat down and had a chance to look over the menu. Our waiter didn't really know the menu. I believe he was new so we cut him some slack. Our first course came out. 1. Amuse Bouche. Which was a crouton with bacon jam on top. Literally a one bite thing so I understood that. 2. Buratta Confit with asparagus. Also very small dish but they put it on a cool plate so I guess that's ok?? So far not impressed at all. 3. Ricotta ravioli. And guys it was 1 ravioli.. just one. This whole time literally made me feel like we were at a tasting and not a 5 course dinner. 4. New York steak. Literally like a 4 ounce steak. With a beat sauce that looked like açaí. I'm glad they got the temperature correct. But again literally a 4 bite steak. 5. Dessert which I'm not even going to get into. Just not worth mentioning. Overall the "5 course menu" was more of a tasting then a dinner. Very sad and overrated. Especially for a Valentines dinner. Waste of money and time. Definitely other places out there to go eat.

All in all food was good, pasta was a bit too oily for me. Pizza and meatballs were really good. The cocktail was also good not the best one i tried. All in all we liked it here.

A summer evening having a solo dinner sitting by the pool. Reading a James Patterson book attempting to figure out "who done it". The wait staff is on point aka very attentive. I will return due to the ambiance, quality of service and the delish dinner!

The perfect one! Is truly the perfect BLT. One of the best hotel meals I've had in quite some time.

    "Grilled" Chicken Caesar Salad

I never expect much from a hotel restaurant, but I'd at-least expect something edible. I ordered the grilled chicken salad. It was cold, not seasoned, and not a grill mark in sight. I understand it's during covid times and we have to be patient but when I did ask if it was actually grilled chicken I was told yea, it could have been grilled yesterday. If that's the case on them making a meal that consists of lettuce, cheese, and chicken, I can only imagine what they do to prepaid their pasta dishes and burgers, MICROWAVE? Sometimes it's worth staying in your room and just ordering delivery. 1/5 for service as well

I'm very impressed by Formaggio at the Marriott. I had the power lunch which is steak with chimmichuri on it, a small salad and some minestrone soup. Fries also came with it followed by a rootbeer float. I was talking to someone so you'll have to imagine all that since I ate it instead of taking a picture of it first. All served well by Shy, our waitress. The food was fantastic, the service was fantastic, all in all, fantastic. You just can't go wrong with the Marriotts in Sacramento. I really need to stay at one of them to round out my experience with them. Does a puppy come with the room? because it's going to really take some doing to top what they've done so far!

With that context, we don't take Italian food lightly. That's exactly why Ippolito's Trattoria stands out. Nick, the owner, is there seven days a week. Whether he's running the kitchen like a true master or walking the dining room checking in with guests, his presence is constant. His wife is often by his side, and together they've built something that feels less like a restaurant and more like a family. The staff reflects that--welcoming, attentive, and genuinely warm. Now, the food. The chicken parmigiana is massive--easily two meals--and executed perfectly. The chicken is tender, well-seasoned, and balanced. We usually start with calamari or a shared salad, both consistently excellent. I'm especially particular about carbonara, and this is the only place in Sacramento that truly gets it right. No shortcuts. No cream. No smoked bacon. They respect the tradition--using proper ingredients like guanciale or pancetta and incorporating the egg the way it's meant to be. It's easily the best carbonara I've had in years. The arancini are another highlight. If you've ever made them at home, you know the effort involved--this is the real deal. Crispy outside, rich and flavorful inside, and absolutely authentic. The bread is baked fresh daily by Nick, and it shows. The pasta is artisan-quality, also made fresh, and sourced from a trusted local partner. Every detail reflects care and intention. Dessert is not an afterthought here. The tiramisu--made in-house--is flawless. And the cannoli? Outstanding. The shells have the perfect crunch, and the fillings are rich without being overpowering. Even the pizzelle cookies are done right. It's no surprise they've earned recognition, including: Best Italian Restaurant in Sacramento Best Restaurant Overall in Sacramento Beyond the food, Nick is active in the community and gives back, which only adds to the experience. We've enjoyed this place so much that we've chosen them to cater my 60th birthday for 20 very discerning Italian family members--many of whom we've already brought here, all with the same glowing reactions. If there's any criticism to address, it's usually from people saying the food isn't salty or herb-heavy enough. That misses the point. This is balanced, authentic cooking--where ingredients shine without being masked. I've been to Papa Gianni's in Cameron Park dozens of times over the years, and it's a great spot. But when it comes to the Sacramento region, Ippolito's Trattoria is my go-to, without question.

Just before noon we were seated right away but it took several minutes before our server actually showed up. I noticed the ambiance was dark and hasn't changed AT ALL over the past 10-15 years. It is showing (and smelling) it's age and really needs a freshening up to a clean and modern take on Italian decor. Outdoor seating is available and the restaurant is in a well maintained shopping area near a grocery store. We loved seeing the fresh made bread coming out of the oven which is served with an oil/vinegar dip; however, the bread was doughy in the middle and became inedible. The Fettucini Alfredo for $25 was meh. The pasta was gummy and the sauce needed A LOT of salt, pepper and extra parmesan to amp up the flavor. The Penne with sausage was good with full flavored red sauce. And the pizza and other dishes that went by looked delicious but I based on this trip I am not sure we'll be back.

He told us that he had spoken with the owner, that the situation with the employees involved had been handled, and offered to remake our entire order for free. I really appreciate that they took the initiative to reach out without us having to contact them first, acknowledged what happened, addressed it internally, and made a genuine effort to make it right. This is exactly the kind of response I would hope for from a restaurant I've otherwise really enjoyed and supported, and it definitely restored my confidence in Milan. I've updated my rating to 4 stars to reflect how well they handled the situation afterward. I'm only holding back the fifth star because the underlying online-ordering issue still needs to be addressed so another customer doesn't end up in the same situation. Outside of that issue, though, their response absolutely gets 5 stars for customer service. As someone who also works in customer service, the way they handled this tells me the right people are in charge and genuinely care about their customers and their business. I'm very happy to continue supporting Milan. - - - - - - - - - - - - - OLD REVIEW: I genuinely love Milan Pizza, which is why this experience was so disappointing and frustrating. Milan is advertised as being open until 10 PM. We placed a pickup order through Milan's online ordering system at approximately 9:40 PM. The website was still actively allowing us to order and submit payment, with no indication that pickup orders were no longer being accepted. At 9:47 PM, my husband received an email saying the order had been "missed" and the payment was refunded. Unfortunately, he didn't see the email until he had already driven all the way there. When he arrived, the OPEN sign was still on. I've since seen in Grubhub listing an earlier cutoff for pickup orders. If Milan actually stops accepting pickup orders before closing, that is completely fine, but Milan's own ordering system needs to clearly communicate that and stop accepting pickup orders after the cutoff. **At a minimum, the website should clearly display the pickup order cutoff time before checkout and automatically disable or block orders once that cutoff has passed, along with an on-screen notice explaining that pickup ordering is closed for the night. Customers should not be able to place an order, submit payment, and drive to the restaurant only to discover that the order was never going to be fulfilled. I really hope management fixes this because I genuinely love Milan and want to continue supporting them. This was incredibly frustrating and completely avoidable.

If you cannot resolve a problem, or if it is an ongoing issue, you should escalate it to someone with the expertise and authority to address consumer concerns. Do not wait for customers to approach you after the situation has already deteriorated, especially when a flippant response has shifted the tone of the interaction. Another option would have been to table the conversation for a later time or on a different day until more information was available. What began as a discussion about a product concern quickly became focused on a employee instead of the issue itself. The manager appeared to become frustrated, stated to understand the main concern, yet responded with an unnecessarily intense tone and level of defensiveness. There was considerable deflection, repetition, and what felt like half-truths rather than a sincere effort to work toward a mutual solution. The manager should remember that they represent the Root of Happiness brand. We have been patronizing Root of Happiness for at least 10 years, long before the owners expanded to the Roseville, Midtown, and Rocklin locations. Manager came back and asked if everything was ok, did we need Sean or something like that ? It was weird, like she knew the bus boy had to deliver bread. I wasn't sure who Sean was, the waiter or bus boy???! When we were done, I'm assuming our waiter stopped by and then we asked for our ice cream and to go containers. He brought that, our to-go boxes and the check. I had to pull up my birthday reward, and was having trouble-so he said he would be back. I'm shocked at the service that we received. I'm glad I had a birthday reward because if I didn't and had to pay for the whole check with this service I'd be.... mad to say the very least. I had to let my husband do most of the talking because I was so upset, otherwise I would've really let them have it!! I won't be back. Too many other places to go for our MOMEY without being ignored.

There's plenty of parking here. Restaurant shares this space with a sushi restaurant literally right next to it. Staffs were very nice. Water tasted great. Our waitressc was professional and nice. Everyone was smiling and friendly. We got the combination dinner plate for $23. It was a great way to try 3 different things. This was good. The Ravioli was ok. Not too good. But the rest was great tasting. We got some skinny, warm bread sticks with butter. Bread was... meh. Could have been better. They have dessert at the counter you can buy. But we didn't get any. We wanted gelato next door for dessert. It was quiet. Ambiance was nice. Easy to hear each other. Mood light. Over all, this restaurant was nice. The foods were just ok. But love the friendly and nice staffs. Oh! I saw they charged an extra charge on my receipt. A "Non Cash Adjustment Fee" of $0.89. Don't know what that is. I know its only a little. But wasn't too thrill to see that. Wish they made it known there will be extra charges. That's all.
