I've been to my share of mechanics in the city - and I was extremely impressed with the work they do here at Formula Collision. One of the garages in the city messed up my car and they sent my car here to take care of the repair work. Nicky (the owner) got in touch with me and set up an appointment quickly. He was great about working with my schedule as my office is quite far from here. I was able to drop off my car here early and the staff was ready and waiting. They removed the damaged paneling and had me on my way in no time. I was back at work 45 minutes earlier than I expected. Billy the shop manager got a hold of me quickly the next day and let me know I could come back the following day to get the part re-installed. Again, I was there early and the shop was open. The folks there were friendly, took care of the installation in 15 minutes and had me on my way to work asap. I was impressed by the speed and efficiency of the whole process. Nicky is also a great communicator and doesn't hesitate to take care of his customers. He followed up with me after the last appointment to make sure everyone went well. It was a welcome relief from other shops where it often seems like there is never any real effort to build a rapport with customers and give them a real timeline of how long the work would take. Here they really go the extra mile to make sure people are taken care of and were happy with the work. If you're in the NYC area, I definitely recommend this shop for any body work, detailing or customization you need done for your car. I dealt with this and another sop (InterCounty Body on 218th and Jamaica avenue) and have had a horrible time dealing with both shops. First Intercounty is associated with this shop and had my car there sitting for a month and a half without them touching it. They lied consistently about working on my car and it almost being done. My accident was on July 23rd about and wasn't sent to this shop until mid September. Their business practices are to lie to the customer. HE had me calling EVERY SINGLE DAY while working for him to lie to me. At first I wanted to get my car from them but they charged me 2600 dollars for me to get my car because they ordered ALL the parts. In September they wanted to follow up with a supplement request at this shop. Guess what, the agent told me the car HADN'T BEEN TOUCHED AT ALL. From July 23rd until September nothing was worked on. So for another 2 months almost I never got my car. About 3 weeks in in October I started to ask about my car. Same story over and over, parts are delayed it's almost done. FINALLY I got my car back at the VERY beginning of November. I picked it up and honestly the car's paint isn't bad it's REALLY good. HOWEVER, the work they did inside the car I can say wasn't good at all. They didn't realize I work on cars all the time. They bumper wasn't installed correctly, it is off by an inch. Another part missing was a weather strip that seals the front bumper and hood for water leaking in. They "told me" they would have the part and to come by, After multiple attempts of reaching them..... they still haven't called me back. At this point I bought the part myself which totaled $58 dollars and installed it myself. The bumper wasn't installed correctly so it looks off. They still haven't gotten the part or haven't contacted me. This is the worst part of it all. I checked to make sure the engine work was done properly. While the welding was "ok" at best, THEY FORGET TO PUT IN AN AIR FILTER.... So my car which has a turbo and a huge intake had no AIR filter...... Luckily I found this when parked my car at home to look at it. If something got sucked into the intake my car would have been totaled. I DO NOT reccomend this shop or any affiliated shops. They try to be nice, they try to be polite and make you feel like a "valued customer" but they will EASILY rip someone off like they did me. Instead of giving me "realistic" dates of completing the jobs they lied to get my insurance check, and had me calling every single day from work for multiple months and I "believed" them because I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Their body work is fine, the paint job they did on my car is amazing. But the back and forth lying, the three months it took to get my car, and the fact that you didn't realize I could easily LOOK up the parts you said were on "backorder" means I will NEVER go back to this shop. I will NEVER recommend this shop to anyone. You guys left a horrible taste in my mouth from lying to me intially, and even NOW my car isn't done correctly I don't even want to WASTE the time on the "lifetime warranty". Even if my part has ANOTHER part missing "which I don't doubt" which could be a couple of hundred dollars, I'd rather take the money from my pocket and install it myself to have it done by you guys. Also if proof is needed I'd gladly provide all documentation (with some information censored) to prove my point. Mechanics like this shop make their money on lying to people, sadly I didn't realize it at first. If you're looking to do a paint job on a car or a minor fender bender, this shop does a good job on making sure the car is color matched but anything further in damage I WOULD NOT BRING MY CAR HERE OR TO ANY affiliated shops. read more

I brought my Range Rover, which had pretty bad aluminum damage to my door and rear fender...something that's tricky/hard to fix, but Nicky and his staff got it done. If I could give this business 0 stars I would. The owner of this business is a greedy and conniving man and I would not trust him with anything let alone my car. My husband and I were involved in a hit and run outside his business. He promised to help us and fix the car as well as find footage of the accident to send to the insurance company. when it was time to retrieve the footage, he extorted us by asking for the car as collateral for bringing the car (which we were willing to bring at the moment). We explained to him that we needed the footage to get the money from the insurance to bring the car, at this point he refused to give us the footage and in turn he told us he deleted the footage and doesn't have it for us. Not only did he lose us as a customer but also my family members who own a limo company and would consider bringing their cars over. That is what happens when you are dishonest and greedy. I would not recommend this business to anyone because you have to trust your mechanic and ensure that they are doing the best to accommodate you as a patient. read more

My Garage damaged my Mercedes and the claim went to Formula Body Works. When I called the week before to confirm that Formula would pick up the car from the garage when scheduled, I got a call back from the Owner Nicky confirming that everything was on schedule. I also asked if possible for them to finish my car a day early and he said they would do their best. On the day of service I got a call back from Nicky to go over all the damage that was to be fixed, he continued to stay in touch with me through the whole process and they finished a day early as asked. When I called, I was informed they are not open on weekends but I explained I could not do it during the week because I need my car all day for work. Since this shop only did an estimate for me through a third party, this should be taken with a grain of salt as it is clearly in their best interest to provide me with a low estimate in order for them to keep business with said third party. Nicky and Billy, the two people who I dealt with gave me an estimate of $700-$800 to repair what was quoted as almost $3,500 by two other reputable shops. My car is a 6 DAY OLD AUDI WITH 200 MILES ON IT with damage spanning a total two and a half feet across the side of the car from a large vehicle hitting it. The fact that these men who supposedly do fine work had the ability to sit on the phone and lie to me like that was disgusting; all to keep their contract with this company they do work for. He told me that he would literally just cover the whole thing in bondo. I wanted to laugh into the phone and yell at him but maintained my composure as it seemed like the best path. Fantastic work and exceptional customer service. When our new Lexus got dinged up in the parking garage, the garage manager recommended Nicky at Formula Automotive. Given my past miserable experiences with body shops, I begged my wife to handle this repair to our fender and bumper. So my wife calls Nicky, his shop picks up our car from the garage and a few days later the repaired car is returned to the garage. So on the way over to inspect the body work, I tell my wife not to expect too much. Well, much to my great surprise, the car looked brand new. The paint job and body work done by Formula Automotive was every bit as good as the original Lexus paint job.
