This place is cool, very chill and laid back, and most importantly the bathrooms are clean! Bud light pitchers are 9 bucks and the music they play is good too. Not too loud so you can have a conversation, but loud enough that you can get a good head bop on to those lull moments. Star of the show today is Jay the bartender. He is awesome, great personality and super friendly. Since it is illegal here on Sundays for the sale of booze, it's a great spot to come and eat and have a drink, play some pool. It was very busy for lunch which makes my decision to stop here a good one since the locals must like this place. The menu has the basic pub offerings and they have a full bar. We were there for Saturday for lunch. Jute Box was playing music that was extremely loud, and our server told us that she could not turn it down. We ordered chicken nachos, the pickle spears, and the waffle fries. If you like canned cheese that was melted on the waffle fries and chicken nachos this your place. Food was very average, our waitress was very average. I have been there many a times and had great service with Robin. This was my first and last time here. The service was slow but I attributed it to there being one person manning the bar and restaurant. It was only 4:00 so this didn't surprise me. What did surprise me was after my table had waited a bit longer than normal to order, we saw the server take a shot with the guys at the table next to us. Um, ok. Maybe take care of your patrons first? The food was average. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I've had better. I've had worse. Nothing to write home about. Other orders were the black and blue steak salad and they said the steak wasn't very good. Then came time for the bill. My total came to $7.60. I gave $20 and was given $12 back. I'm fine if you want to round and not worry about coins but if you do, ALWAYS round of the favor of your patron. If not, it's called stealing. Bad form from start to finish. read more

Chill spot right by the CVS at Ft. Ben. I've been in a few times for drinks, a couple times for food, and it's usually the same, good drinks, average food. The best part is the servers, always had awesome service. This time I got the wings, half hot buffalo, half sweet and spicy. The hot buffalo was fine, exactly what you would expect. The sweet and spicy had awesome flavor. The downside was the wings were wildly over cooked; there were s few bites that were testy, but mostly tough and dry. The last time I was in I got a burger and it was okay. I'm sure I'll be back, but probably won't be getting food again. read more

Formerly Taylor's Pub III, same great locale with a new name, why change what works. Fort Ben Pub is my favorite of the three Taylor's, specifically because of the layout and nearby location. I feel this one is the larger of the three with more open space to enjoy. Plenty of HD TVs, always a great place to catch the game. FBP has a black laminate bar with a wooden rail & bar front with 15 or so stools with backs. The bar back has terrific setup with low level liquor shelves and large arches with HDTVs in between. The mirrors within the arches let you know what's coming up from behind ;) FBP has several high tables and even more lower eating tables and a back room with two pool tables. In my opinion FBP has above average bar food. Friendly and great service that is always welcoming. Comforatble atmosphere reminiscient of your traditional neighborhood bar, mostly middle aged, friendly people that enjoy good drinks, food, & sports. Recommend the breaded tenderloin, highly recommended and always fresh! Enjoy! read more

This pub offered up about what you would expect in terms of pub food. I ordered a buffalo chicken dip, which wasn't a spicy as I would have liked, and steak sliders which were a decent. The food wasn't bad, but it just wasn't impressive. Their drink menu appeared to be a good size, but I was unable to make use of it for lunch. The way we were treated at this pub really had a profound effect on my emotions. I not saying that they don't appreciate people of color in their establishment, but that is definitely the way I felt while I was there. I have never in my life experienced such blatant disrespect!! Being a woman of color, certain treatment and looks come with the territory when your out in certain area's of Indiana, but this place took it to a whole other level. We have been living close to this restaurant for about 2 years and decided to try some of the local fair in our area. We love to try new places, and this restaurants menu online had a lot of great items that we felt we would like to try. We called in an order for pick up, the person who took the order advised us that the order would be ready in 30 minutes. When we arrived, the place was packed with our local "men in uniform", we believe for the city of Lawrence (not a person of color among them) From the second we entered the door all eyes were on my fiance and me. We approached the bar area where you would pick up a phone in orders, the staff definitely made it obvious that they did not want to serve us bypass over us more than several time to assist other non-melanin customers. Mind you we sat on the bar stools smack dab in the middle of the bar. The server would work both ends of the bar and never interact with my fiance and I. They would walk by as if we weren't even sitting there and refused to make eye contact with us. At this point, it was oblivious that this was a thing that was really happening. And when you looked at the fellow costumers and staff if became alarmingly clear why. We were the only people of color in the whole place (except for the Hispanic gentlemen working in the kitchen) The only staff that was helpful were the Hispanic gentleman working in the kitchen. After waiting for about 20 minutes, just to get the attention of a server, I was able to catch the attention of one of the men working in the kitchen. He let us know that our order had never even been placed in the kitchen. My fiance was furious and I was so hurt by the way were treated I just cried in the car. I have never felt so uncomfortable in my entire life! To the owner of this establishment.....this is 2018 and people of color spend money just like everyone else. I am not sure if this is a staff issue, or not. The only reason I am giving this place 1 star is that you have to for your review to post. read more

I have been here 3 times and always they deliver good food. The grilled cheese is awesome. The tenderloin is awesome. I might have to go get carry out now that I am writing about it. The foid was the right temperature when it was delivered. The cheese was still melted which is good for a grilled cheese and it was not soggy and wimpy. So.... Me and a couple of girlfriends visited Fort Ben Pub for the first time over the weekend. When entering, we were right off the bat entertained by the bartender Brandon. First he gave us a very nice welcoming, and told us about all the beer that was on tap "which by the way, they have this really good stuff called busted knuckle". Very well spoken for a guy that has a sleeve full of tattoos. He knew his stuff when it came to the local Indiana craft brews. Provided a thorough breakdown of the menu. I have been to plenty of neighborhood pubs in indy. This one buy far had been one of the most humbling visits to a pub in a while. Food was excellent and Brandon was excellent. For great food and a gorgeous bartender to look at, you can't really ask for more. Will be back. read more

4 and 5 stars is tough 5 is excellent! My first time here and I've been here 10 yrs live near fort Ben. I like this place better than Peppers. I think the place could benefit from some outdoor seating and at least 2 or 3 booths. I know the joint is small! You tend to hang back and spend more money when you can relax. The waitress Holly was nice! That's always a plus and she was left a tip of over 20% because she was also familiar with the menu as well. I'd visit again and have another burger I built my own thats kinda foul proof.. well so you think.. I guess I don't understand why restaurants don't go the extra mile and have fresh mushrooms when you do a Swiss mushroom and onion burger I not thinking jar or canned you know the difference! My friend had the tenderloin we shared a taste and I'll say it was good!good flavor just a tad too salty! not too thin and it was fried nicely.. not to long! I do however think it could be a tiny bit thicker because of the bun ratio there's more bun then there is tenderloin. Tasty bun nonetheless. No fries which pairs well with your burger. Some slaw, potato salad ,bake beans something other than chips! the chips were good for homemade chips, but nothing takes the place of a burger and fries! I was a bartender for years and have not seen anyone so unknowledgable. So we each only had one drink.
