Everything was going fine until we got our bill. We had an extra pizza charged on our bill, which is not a big deal since it could be an honest mistake. After we explained to the waitress she questioned it not once or twice but three times. It was unfortunate but after explaining that the extra pizza was a mistake there was no reason to believe we were trying to lie about it... $10 to remove on a $220 bill? Again not a big deal at first, but the attitude and not trusting what we explained three times was uncalled for and made a great experience a terrible one. Not coming back ever again. Have to downgrade my review for this restaurant based on a terrible experience we had here this evening. The manager (didn't get her name) was, in a word, mean. Kind of ironic as the first thing you see on the wall when you walk in is a sign telling you to "be kind." She couldn't have been any farther from kind. In fact she was very rude. Your town is dying, your retail establishments are closing right and left, your restaurant is half full and there isn't one seat taken at your bar, but talk down to your paying customers like children you are scolding and give them the stink eye over your fashion mask while they are asking you to bend a rule in the off season that should only apply to your busy season - if you have an ounce of common sense and any compassion for two people who have had a very bad day. But hey, you have all the power and you lorded it over us, so feel super good about yourself, sweetheart. You've run off two very loyal customers. Food was delicious, albeit some very small portions for the high price... but the food alone won't bring us back, because the side of bad attitude from the manager ruined the overall experience. Great Neapolitan style pizza menu, great local brews, and great wings. The apricot habanero was super hot but that's how we like it. There's no better pizza than Neapolitan-style and Fortify is doing it right so I don't hunk you can go wrong. The beer and wine selection doesn't disappoint. We are visiting from Louisiana and found this place looking for some where to sit and watch the LSU vs Ga game. We sat at the bar and had wonderful service from two different women. Great food- nice wine and beer selection. We'd hiked all day so we're happy to find a place to relax and watch the game. We even talked about how cute Clayton was and would be a great place to buy a mountain cabin. After ordering an appetizer, a pizza, several beers and glasses of wine we actually had (what I can only assume is) a local woman approach us and ask if we "were about to leave". At this point the restaurant was getting busy- but there were 5 min left in the game and our friends were coming to meet us so we told her "no- we were not". She then told us that she'd "HEARD we'd been there all day and there was a sports bar across the street we should go to" At this point we were so stunned- we didn't even know what to say. She proceeded to go stand at the end of the bar and angrily glare at us along with her husband and she was chatting animatedly with the host who was seating people. I can only guess that he was the one who'd told her "we'd been there all day". We were at this point feeling so embarrassed and unwelcome- that we asked for our check and went across the street to meet our friends at Clark's on Main- the "sports bar" she was referring to. Our friends were going to meet us at Pi but we told them we'd been asked leave by a local so we went and they had their dinner at Clark's. I want to make it clear that the restaurant was great up until that point- and the reason I'm giving 3 stars is because we felt that the host had to be the one to tell her we'd "been there all day" whether he meant it in a negative way or not and they seemed to be talking about us. We will try Pi again if we return to Clayton and I am sure that situation would not happen again but I hope the owners will speak with employees about making visitors feel as welcome as locals. read more

Love this little pizza place in downtown Clayton that serves wood fired, brick oven pizza. I'm a huge fan of thin sliced pizza with a nice little char on the bottom and it's exactly what you get. I've recently started a gluten free diet and they also accommodate that. Cool little venue with a neat vibe. Love the cooler evenings when the open the large glass doors and let the breeze in. This is our go to spot for pizza. It will not disappoint. They also have a nice selection of local craft beer for you to try out. If in the area, don't miss this little hidden gem. Terrible pizza. We ordered 5 large the other night and it was over $100 which we expected. What we didn't expect is how little was on each. The meat lovers was ok but the other 4 had very little on them. I expected upscale pizzas at that price and we were very disappointed and our 9 other guests were also. We found good food, good beer, and good desserts with quality ingredients. My wife and I had the "Go Greek" and it was delicious! Who knew avocado and balsamic reduction go well together in a pizza? My family is vegan and we got a vegan cheese pizza as well as the vegan spinach & mushroom pizza and they were both delicious! Our server was very attentive and kind. The restaurant was an overall a good experience. The service was excellent and so was the fried chicken sandwich. Two things that could have been better were ; the aluminum chairs are trendy but cold and hard. The other thing that was a bit annoying was there was no wi-fi. I came in alone, and wi-fi is a must. The server that I asked about wi-fi said that the wi-fi had been down for a couple days and they couldn't fix it. Pleasant Surprise My sisters and I have been visiting our brother in Clarkesville for the past four years. We have been to Fortify for dinner every year (which we thoroughly enjoy) but never had the opportunity to visit Fortify Pi. Thanks to a suggestion from our sister-in-law, we were able to have lunch there on the last day of our visit. I only wish we weren't leaving the next day because I want to go back to try everything on the menu and their cold beers on tap as well. We had the butternut squash pie, the veggie pie and the pesto pie. Thank goodness we were all able to share. Kassidy was very accommodating and professional. Another great trip to Fortify Pi in Clayton. It is always nice to find a restaurant where you can really count on the quality and consistency of the service and food. There was a wait when we got there but the waitress took my number and we were able to walk around the town and do some shopping. Not 20 minutes later she called us and we were seated at the bar. My hubby and I shared the large Greek salad (amazing house made dressing, by the way) and the classic original pizza (small). Both exceeded our expectations and we left with happy full bellies. Pie-fect! We have been enjoying many outstanding dinners at sister restaurant Fortify. Earlier this week I had my first occasion (sisters visiting/day trip) to have an early afternoon nosh at Fortify Pi. Clayton was jam-packed with tourists but we slid into Pi with a table for 4 beckoning. Pi is the "casual cousin" to Fortify with the same kind of friendly, knowledgeable service team and a welcoming energy. The pies were as flavor-full and fresh as can be; the beverages cool and crisp. Well, well, well. Thought we would do the right thing tonight and support our local restaurants in the age of Coronavirus. So, we ordered take out from Fortify Pi and were informed that there is a 20% gratuity added to all take out orders for the honor of picking up our order. 20% is what we regularly leave for a full service meal, usually more and I have no problem with that. It is NOT what I think I should HAVE to pay to pick up my order. Probably would have left a 20% gratuity anyway especially considering the times. Fortify Pi, it's about perception. Really bad. Will be ordering our take out from the other restaurant on Main Street in Clayton that are happy to have the business and yes I will add the 20% gratuity not because it is required but because it is appreciated. We picked Fortify Pizza for our lunch in Clayton because we wanted to eat something special to the small town. I honestly was not that impressed upon arriving at the restaurant. The staff seemed sweet but disinterested. The food was good but not great. Good because it was served hot and it didn't necessarily taste bad; but not great because I've definitely had much better pizza before. I wasn't a big fan of their tomato sauce but if you like a more authentic taste, you may like it better than i did. I am from NY, and this pizza didn't satisfy me.
