My wife and I love this place! We especially love to sit at the bar. The atmosphere is awesome here. We have been here when there has been a small group singing in the corner as entertainment. We love the old school movies and decor. The food is delicious. We always start off with the veggie platter. It has a mix of all of the veggies that they season perfectly and put into the brick oven. Then we usually have the chicken parm which is absolutely crazy! The drinks are great too. We have had an awesome time meeting all of the bartenders. Completely disappointing. I have been to Fortina's in Rye Brook several times and while the food was only okay service was always lacking. Well I gave them another shot hoping to see some improvement when I went with my family earlier this past week. Nothing has improved. In fact the service is worse and the portions seem a lot smaller. The manager is great and very friendly but that's where it ends. We came for a quick lunch that turned out to be horrible. When we arrived we were maybe the 3rd table of customers but had to ask multiple times where our food was after people were served and gone that arrived AFTER us. Octopus app: tasteless and bland Garlic bread app: the only decent thing we ate. Margarita pizza: Burnt and not edible. Alfredo: tasted like boiled pasta with cheap Parmesan on top. Think the self stable cheese from kraft. A small spoonful of sauce. It was just nasty. We had to send back the burnt pizza and didn't really eat the rest of the food. I like to think of myself as a meatball connoisseur. I order them at all Italian establishments, many of them with high ratings. I understand that pork can have a hue of pink, but these meatballs were downright medium rare inside. And the outside was fried dark, rock solid. This seems like a flaw in execution big time. We did not eat those, and the lovely waiter noted that they were quite pink inside and took them away. Next, we had the cauliflower. The sauce was AMAZING, but the cauliflower bordered on raw. Though we did order two, because I was hungry. Lastly, the Tenderoni Pizza was the final disappointment. I kid you not...there were only four tiny globs of cheese on the entire pizza. And the cheese was a rubbery mess. The pizza had no flavor other than the sweet bomb of the honey. It was also black burnt in most areas. Oh...and the red wine selection was sub-par. The $16 glass of wine felt like I was drinking Robert Mondovi Woodbridge. Again, this message may fall on flat ears, but I am hoping that someone can take to heart the quality of the food that was served at the Rye location yesterday. I had heard great things of Fortina so decided to drop in a Wednesday night. I called beforehand to see if there was a wait and was intrigued when the hostess said there might be. What is this busy in Westchester on a Wednesday night? The restaurant is in a strip mall which, not gonna lie, lowered my expectations but wow was I surprised when I walked in! Hustling bustling busy and filled with patrons having what looked like generously sizes delicious meals. I immediately felt my second wind - the energy in there is contagious! The restaurant is huge and I noticed at least 3 large groups of about 12 so I know this is a good place for a celebration. The menu had a good array of pizza, pasta and entrees. I would say if you eat pork you are in good shape because many of their staples contain it, like the meatballs. We had to pass but tried the mushroom arancini which was amazing! They brought it out relatively quickly. For pizza I had the classic margherita and my husband had the one with the spicy honey. That option comes with sausage which he subbed for chicken. Not ideal but it works. The pizza took what seemed like forever to come out but it's brick oven, so you can't rush it. I notice this a lot with similar brick oven pizza joints. The pizzas are good but they are big on the charred crust which personally isn't my cup of tea. Yes it was great, but a little dry for me. I wish I had asked for a side of marinara to dip it in. The spicy honey one was also very unique. I'd give the pizzas a 7.5/10, especially since I am an avid Instagram follower and the pies they post look heartier and cheesier. Also not to mention the staff was excellent. The restaurant manager even came over a few times to chit chat which added to the vibe and distracted us as we waited for our pies. This place is truly the hot stuff! I came up from the city to meet a gal pal for brunch and had a ball. The food, ambiance and company totally exceeded my expectations. Fortina's is located within a strip mall which threw me off, but looks can be deceiving! The interior feels like a hip creative space with high ceilings, choice art work and open kitchen. All the tables were filled with an eclectic crowd vibing at brunch, with couples, family and friend groups spanning generations. I like when there is action at a restaurant, but still can enjoy your own table - Fortina nails it! To kick our meal off we started with spicy margaritas that hit the spot so we stuck with them all afternoon. The baked eggs (eggs in purgatory) spoke to me and although I got ribbed for making a 'basic' choice, it was one I didn't regret! The portion was generous leaving me full, but also with leftovers. They still have very good pizza and we have a mixed veggie plate that was super nice. I've been really excited to try Fortina after hearing such great things, but frankly, it was just underwhelming. We went on a Saturday night and the place was decently full, but the lack of sound absorbers in the restaurant meant we were screaming at each other all night. This really wasn't helped by the loud music, and the people climbing on the bar at one point to take shots (which apparently is a Fortina thing...?) but I digress. The food was hit or miss. We tried the Luigi Blanco, which was rich and delicious, and the Margherita, which was pretty standard. The pizzeria salad was huge, and a good option for sharing amongst your table rather than ordering as an entree. The meatballs were sadly burnt, very dry, and covered in a meager portion of sauce. The beets were delicious, but the pulpo again was dry. The prices here are what I would expect in NYC, but didn't quite match up to the quality of the food. I'd come back for the pizzas, but I'm definitely not in a rush to try Fortina again soon. read more

My rating is not based on the food. The food, as always, was excellent. My sister-in-law and I (who are both teachers and off for the summer) went to fortina last week to celebrate and recap her wedding. We split a bottle of rose, ordered another glass each (after we decided we would Uber home-a fact we shared with our server), and we're having a lovely time catching up. When I decided to order another glass (after being there for almost 3 hours) our sever told us the manager commented on how long we had been there and how she didn't know if she could serve us because we "already had a bottle of wine". It was uncomfortable to say the least. We had spent well over $100 and decided to stay so long partly because they were shooting a episode for HGTV, which was fun to watch. We weren't the only people in the restaurant nor were there people waiting for a table so I'm not sure what the rush was about. The manager, who was wearing pigtails, should have gone out of her way to make us feel welcome and check on our experience. This was the opposite treatment. I will share this experience with family and friends and encourage them to visit the Fortina in Armonk or Stamford moving forward. read more

TL;DR: If you don't like this restaurant, you are a pompous clown and - most likely - an insufferable prick. Just in the past couple of weeks, this place has gotten reviews from a local businessman badmouthing the restaurant while typing incoherently (smart move), a person who gave five stars to a bagel shop but Fortina a one-star review because they "labeled everything with the names i gave" [ALERT THE PRESS!!!], and some guy that has six reviews and all but one (an LA Fitness gym he gave five stars to) were horrible reviews. These are the type of people that would be miserable if you gave them a puppy and ice cream. Ignore them. I've been going to this store and the Armonk location for about three years and I've never even had a meal that I would say was only "very good." Everything is exceptional. (By the way, I just saw a review that was talking negatively about the fried meatballs because ... they were fried. I mean, c'mon.) I've also never experienced any of these unanticipated waits at Fortina. Sure, I've waited but I was happily distracted by the drinks, the fun staff, and the character the place has. It's just a cool place to be, even if you have to stay hungry for an extra few minutes more than you thought you would be. Settle down and smile. As for choice meals, most have covered the amazing Luigi Bianco pizza but the cavatelli and fusilli dishes are outstanding as well. Also, don't be afraid to order the dry aged steak they have as it is insanely delicious. I don't know what these other reviews are talking about. This staff has always been on top of service and the food is always amazing. Whenever we had any issues, every manager has come to help us. Seems like the people that have issues just don't talk to the staff or a manager. Their loss! Even when they took a while for our pizza, they sent us some food to eat while we waited. Go to fortina, try everything, stay for the night, you won't be disappointed. Those people complaining are just mad they didn't chat with the staff. I was really impressed by the food that I had at Fortina. I had heard that about the location in Brooklyn but I didn't realize how many locations they had in Westchester. I decided to stop by to get a pizza on my way home from work. I had seen the reviews and the pizza looked fresh, so I figured that it was definitely worth a shot. The pizza was fantastic! It was fresh and did not have too much sauce or cheese. I got the margarita but there are definitely a variety of others to choose from. Let me encapsulate my dining experience here, in a single anecdote. It was one of the first weeks that the restaurant was open, when my sister and I decided to check out the new restaurant in Rye Ridge Center. The hostess told us she didn't have any tables. It would be a 20 minute wait. Rookie mistake. They were extremely busy, so we ended up waiting over an hour. When we finally got a table, we were admittedly harried. So much so, that we were not expecting to enjoy our meal. To our surprise, the hostess had advised our waitress that we'd been waiting a fairly long time for a table. She set us up with a huge salad and a plate of fried meatballs, on the house. She, and the rest of the team on the floor that night, made us feel like part of the family. But it wasn't the free food and awesome wait staff that won us over, it was the food. I had never had a meatball with such a crisp exterior, bathed in a perfectly seasoned marinara sauce. The pizzas were equally amazing. From that visit on, I was a big fan. I've been back many times since. It's one of my favorite places to eat with friends and family, and I'm looking forward to the new location in Stamford. If you do come here, make sure to order the Luigi Bianco and the vegetable platter for two. If you have room at the end of that, stick around for dessert. They don't disappoint either. read more

As a Chef, I do not like to be too specific when writing a review, I would not like someone detailing what they think I should do as tastes differ. I do not like writing negative reviews as I feel complaints are better handled by going straight to the management rather than trash a place online. That said, I wish Fortina was better. I want to like this place, it's fun with a cool vibe decor and young happy employees. The Rye Brook location is in my backyard, why should I travel when I could spend money here, local is good. But I just cant recommend this place, despite the hoards of good looking wealthy people who congregate here. I have visited this location about 10 times and my thoughts are for this location only. I hope the other locations are better, as I said, I really wanted to like this place. I've written to management a couple of times, Uncle Louie cares lol or something like that, without a reply. I've spoken to the manager at the restaurant who at least apologized and understood my concerns. But it the end, the food is just ok, seemingly made without pride and the whole operation seems to lack leadership and accountability. Read the other reviews stating long wait times for easy orders, wrong orders and poorly executed food. I sent management pictures of my last takeout order of a caesar salad. $15 without the Chicken, $21 with. I would have been better suited buying a salad at Chopt next door. The pizza is OK when it arrives at the table hot and correct as ordered. Service is poor, usually, but not for apathy or indifference as these are happy kids but for lack of training, guidance and cohesive leadership. You can judge the food for yourself, as maybe it's just not my taste and there is no excuse for items this expensive to be made with rotting ingredients and lack of pride. I feel it is a shame no one from this organization felt it important enough to address what I wrote to them directly rather than me write things here, but I will assume the guest just doesn't matter until they do.... There are better options for you to spend your money, rewarding the business and hardworking people who try to impress you with what they create. I would suggest going elsewhere so that Fortina understands mediocre is not acceptable but you can make that choice yourself. Ah Fortina. When you first opened in Armonk I was a weekly guest. Then winter came and I couldn't justify driving 30 minutes north for pizza and pasta. Now Rye Brook, not much closer but a bit easier. Not only that but it seems you've taken the best of the best staff with you! A visit to Armonk the week before had me feeling a bit meh, 30 minutes for a table.. the hostess just forgot about us. BUT this is a review for Rye. Come for the amazing fior di latte soft serve ice cream. Stay for the service and good as always pizza and food. They were clearly overwhelmed tonight but they more than made up for the frantic servers and slow service with their awesome food and really friendly staff. I have to say the consistency of the food is the same. Let me start with the fact that this place is awesome! Now that that is out of the way, this place has a wonderful atmophere. The eclectic 80's genre complete with MJ playing over the stereo, and "Back To The Future" on a continuous loop on TV is pretty damned cool! Not to mention the Sony CRT screen TV with old school VCR's behind the bar. The folks, patrons, and employees alike are very laid back and friendly. Drinks: Full bar. Wine, mixed cocktail (& mocktails), and imported beers. You won't find Coors, Miller, or Bud here. But you will find plenty of European, German, and Italian beers and stouts. Food: they have two stone gas powered, wood fired ovens that cook pretty much everything. The pizza is excellent. It's an Italian joint, mixing some modern artesianal pizza works with old NY style brick oven thin crust. They also offer plenty of Mediterranean / Italian cold dishes. As for desert, Look no further than the Tartufo! It's a chocolate shell covered ice cream treat, topped with cherries and a cherry reduction, on a bed of whipped cream! (I suggest this is a desert for two). It reminds me of a large cherry Bon Bon, but better! Price: Decent. It's NY prices, and worth the $$ up there. If you are on a budget, go to Little Ceasers! Fantastic dinner and a welcome addition to the neighborhood. We had been to Fortina in Armonk weeks prior to the opening here in Port Chester/Rye Brook. This time we took the kids along and they were instant fans. We had the arancini and burrata for apps which were both good sized and seasoned perfectly. The service was very good, water glasses never empty and we had a few folks stop by the table to chat that were very friendly. Dinner we shared a few of the pastas and a pizza all were spot on. The wood-fired paccheri and the funghi pizza warmed everyone up on a cold night. To top it all off was a "birthday" surprise for my daughter. I live in the area and this is heavily in the rotation for food, wine and a daily happy hour that can't be beat. Everytime we go to one of their restaurants, it is the same problem and last time we went to their restaurant in Armonk they comped our entire meal. Love this place! Met a friend for dinner. She had the Luigi Bianco pizza which she loved and I had the pork Braciole which was the best I have ever had! So tender! Served with a side of broccoli rabe was was good but had way too much garlic for my liking. We each Had the Affogato for desert which was wonderful! Server was great! Did not rush us at all!
