OMG - I was not hungry, having just had lunch. My sister really wanted to try the Hainan Chicken so we stopped by. She couldn't decide between the Hainan Chicken and Rice or the Braised Pork Belly, so she got both and I said I would help her. It's the least I could do BEST HAINAN CHICKEN and Rice loves up to the hype! So tender and the ginger scallion is what makes this dish. The Braised Pork Belly was also tender and delicious. I'm sensitive to salt so I had to limit eating this. If you can only choose one, go for the Hainan Chicken! It was raining lightly so I appreciated that each of the food carts were covered and much of the seating areas were also covered. The food was ready pretty quickly. There's something quintessentially Portland about sitting outside in this rainy weather and the steam rising from your dishes as you open each meal.

Friendly service with excellent Hainan Chicken rice ! It wa nice to order a side of HK styled lemon tea to quench the heat.

Hawker Station has a limited menu, but it's the things they specialize in. Their top selling and most popular dish is Hainan Chicken Rice. Chicken is very soft and juicy. Portion size is standard. Comes with a few sauces (I'm just guessing on these): a ginger sauce with spring onion, some plum sauce, and some kind of medium level hot sauce. Overall it's a good dish - runs $15 I also tried their fried chicken skin. This dish was just ok for me. It was seasoned with salt and pepper but somewhat inconsistently. Some parts were salty some were more peppery. I would prefer that they used more flavors to season the fried skin.

Chicken winner, chicken dinner! Hawker Station is a food cart located in Lil America on Stark St serving Hong Kong and Singapore style chicken and rice dishes. We got the chicken and rice and it was delicious! The rice was fragrant from the chicken and the chicken was tender and juicy. The skin on the chicken added an extra fattiness, great for chicken skin lovers! The scallion and ginger sauce was fresh and aromatic, truly what Hainese chicken and rice are all about. We got a braised pork belly to go, and although I didn't get to try it, it looked good! They are generous with portion sizes and don't skimp out on the meat. Andy, the owner, runs specials frequently that he updates on Instagram. He definitely keeps things fresh and exciting at his food cart. With summer around the corner, it is food cart and patio season! Put Hawker Station on your summer food list, and you won't be disappointed!

Went there with family on 8/2, Friday. First time at the Hawker Station. We met the owner Andy. Pretty easy-going guy. Was very friendly and kind. We ordered 4 items, Hainan Chicken, Soy Sauce Chicken, braised Pork Belly and their Chicken Wings with fries. Andy also gave us free Lemon Ice Tea. That's was so cool. The food was outstanding. It was savory and fresh. I would definitely go back again. I think my fav is between the Braised Pork Belly and the Hainan Chicken.

Full disclosure, I know the owner. That being said, I visited for lunch on NYE and ordered the braised pork belly w/ a soft boiled soy sauce egg. The meat portion was great and the dish was enough for two meals for me. Friendly service, easy parking and nice outdoor covered seating. BIPOC owned and this food cart pod, Lil America will have all BIPOC and LGBTQIA owned carts. Great spot in inner SE to check out.

From all the chicken rice I've had in Portland, this is definitely my favorite. The chicken is juicy, and perfectly cooked. The broth from the cooked chicken is used to cook the rice, giving the rice more flavor. You are given a generous amount of chicken too. It's topped with some ginger scallion oil and a side of two sauces, sweet soy and a chili sauce. They also added in some cooked broccoli for some veggies on the side. During the weekends they have specials too, when I visited here they were serving cubed beef with red rice. Definitely tasted like shaking beef, it was really delicious. Beef was tender and rice was flavorful. They also service other dishes like soy sauce chicken rice, shredded chicken rice and wings. Overall, I really recommend the chicken rice they have and will come back again!

Delicious fried chicken with gravy. Yummmmmmm! Freshly fried so it was crispy and juicy.

I love this whole area. This was such an amazing place to have lunch. It's so well diverse and I appreciate and support it. I brought my son here for some 1:1 time. The service was friendly. The orange chicken is dry. The flavor was okay but the main thing it needed was more sauce. I think trying other things on their menu would have been such a hit. I am going to keep trying this place because I can see it's worth it. I still recommend it.

Unlike most Cantonese restaurants which stop dim sum service in the early afternoon, this restaurant actually offers dim sum all day. On top of this, prices were incredibly reasonable across the board, and portions sizes were quite generous as well. Between the seven in our party, we split two orders of siu mai, an order of char siu bao, taro puffs, steamed spare ribs, an jelly fish appetizer, a plate of char siu, steamed gai lan with oyster sauce, and stir fried noodles with beef. The quality of dim sum is quite good. The siu mai was tender and larger than your average piece of siu mai. The spare ribs were meaty, tender, and didn't contain too much fatty, grisly parts. The only dish that could've been better was the char siu pork, which I felt was too lean, and lacked a bit of flavor. To be honest, lean pork is actually what some folks prefer, so your milage may vary here. The dish that I enjoyed the most was the stir fried noodles with beef. The beef was incredibly tender -- likely the result of velveting with cornstarch, the noodles were well-seasoned, and garnish of raw bean sprouts provided a nice crunchy texture to the dish. This dish was so large, there was enough for everyone to go back for seconds. If you're looking for a Chinese spot that serves tasty food without breaking the bank, H K Cafe is a wonderful option. I would gladly stop by here again.

It was so bad that I had to spit it out immediately. I called the server over to let them know because I didn't want anyone else to eat it. The response I got was that "maybe the hot weather made it taste like that." That explanation was disappointing. If the food has gone bad because of the weather, it shouldn't be served to customers in the first place. I've eaten enough to know the difference between fresh food and spoiled food, and this definitely tasted off. This was my first experience like this at HK, and it left a really bad impression. I hope they pay closer attention to food quality and freshness so other customers don't have the same experience.
