I just completed FortuneBuilders courses on Wholesaling and Marketing. I learned a LOT, and I met some really great people. The information reviewed in the courses included strategies for finding and analyzing good investment opportunities, creating and maintaining important business relationships, what activities to delegate/outsource for maximum return on time, how to find individuals to delegate/outsource to, marketing strategies, important legal documents, and more. What I learned can be immediately implemented. Beyond learning strategies, I met people who are at various stages of learning and at various levels of experience with real estate and with FortuneBuilders. There were newbies like me (2 months in), and there were individuals who had been with FortuneBuilders from 6 months up to many years. What was really encouraging for me was consistently hearing from these individuals that they had been experiencing success by implementing what they learned through FortuneBuilders. That was important to me - I wanted to speak with people who were actually using FortuneBuilders' tools to be successful. There are many! I also liked the fact that the founders of FortuneBuilders were present and active at the courses. Than Merrill and Paul Esaijian were actually teaching. Than taught one of my courses, and I was really impressed by how approachable he was and how much you could tell he enjoyed teaching and sharing his personal experiences. It is clear that he is passionate about helping people be successful in real estate investing. I also appreciated seeing how he operated on a personal level. I observed him interacting with support staff and volunteers, and I was impressed at how genuinely he expressed his appreciation for them and their help. I made a promise to myself that I would review the courses I take and my experiences with the FortuneBuilders organization because when I was doing my due diligence about whether or not to participate in the Mastery program, it was hard to find helpful feedback in the reviews. This is the way I believe someone should approach a decision on whether or not to invest in the program: 1. Do you want to start a real estate investment business? 2. Do you have the time and/or money to invest in learning what actions and strategies to take to be successful? 3. Do you have the time/ motivation to work towards being successful? 4. Do you have the risk tolerance to be involved in a business strategy that has risk associated with it? 5. Are you prepared to make financial investments to get your company going and keep it running? 6. Do you have a clear vision in your mind for why you want to get into this business? 7. Do you want to figure things out on your own, or would you rather have established processes? (Some prefer doing it on their own, and that's cool.) If you can't answer these questions, you may not want to partner with FortuneBuilders. Honestly, you're probably not that serious, or you're not ready to start a business. However, if you can answer these questions, FortuneBuilders may be a good fit for you. Even if you are able to answer all of these questions- where are YOU at? If you choose to start a business - with FortuneBuilders or not - there are going to be costs associated with running the business. Are you financially prepared to start a business? In my opinion, FortuneBuilders has the positive aspects of a franchise - business tools, established best practices and systems, educational resources, mentors, supportive business partners, etc. without some of what I consider negatives - requirements to use their name, tools, partners, systems, etc., and there is no requirement to pay any monthly/yearly fees to stay with them. You have the initial investment cost which includes lifetime access to their tools and educational materials. You decide what additional resources you would like to utilize. No, they're not free, but I don't know why anyone would expect business resources to be free. Yes - be aware that if you go to a FortuneBuilders event, there will be consistent and strong selling for additional opportunities - this is a business, not a nonprofit organization. Also be aware that if you choose to participate there will be additional costs. This is not a free lunch. NO business is. Know your personal situation and make a responsible choice. If you approach participating in FortuneBuilders like participating - and investing - in a franchise, I believe you will be more than satisfied. Imagine you want to have a hamburger restaurant business - would you want to figure everything out on your own (no investment, high learning curve ), would you want to buy into a franchise like McDonalds,etc. (very high starting cost, pretty low learning curve), or would you like something in the middle (moderately high starting cost, relatively low learning curve)? I just came back from the FB 3-day seminar. What a wonderful and educational experience! I've been wanting to get into RE investing for about 13 years now, but always thought I needed a sizable amount of money to invest before I could start. I had no idea all the various ways one can raise investment capital (loans, credit cards, private lenders, etc...) to get started. Had I known 13 years ago what I know now, I would already be wealthy and likely living in the Caribbean off of my rental income. At the moment, I don't have the funds or even available credit to do their Mastery program, but I do already have plans underway to generate the funds needed to get started. I did turn in an interest card for their Mastery program at the seminar, and after the weekend was over, I received first an email, and then a call from FB asking how my seminar experience went, what my level of interest was in starting an RE business, and what my goals are. After discussing my current financial situation, they agreed that right now it is simply not possible for me to purchase any of their educational programs, but they did mention that once my financial situation has improved a little, they do have a $2,000 program to get me started with access to their systems and some short-term coaching to help me starting doing some wholesale deals, which will generate the income I'll need to upgrade to the Mastery program. They also sent me a link to a ton of educational material they provide for people who show commitment that I can begin studying to prepare myself for the time when I have the $2,000. This $2,000 program was music to my ears! I had already planned on doing some wholesaling to generate funds for use with the Mastery program, but wasn't sure how to go about it for the first time. Now I know that I'll be able to get hands-on assistance with my first deals, which I can then use the profit to get me into the Mastery program and have full access to all their systems and 2 years of coaching, as well as the Passive Income Club (when I heard about this in the seminar, I nearly fainted!). Aside from my normal job working from home as Internet Tech Support, I have also been tutoring kids on the side ( http://clevelandtn.universitytutor.com/tutors/55483 ). I'll tutor in any subject, but the subject most kids need the most help with is math. As a result, I've become a very number-crunchy person. Throughout my experience with Fortune Builders, I was continually crunching the numbers on everything they said, and most of the time, I was arriving at the same conclusions as them BEFORE they presented it to the rest of the audience. In one instance, I had just finished sharing my conclusion with the lady sitting right behind me, and not 5 minutes later, the speaker, Ryan Carmody, told people the EXACT SAME THING, using nearly the same language I had just used in my private conversation with the stranger lady right behind me. During the 3-day seminar, when I heard about the details of the Passive Income Club, I immediately did some number crunching, and resolved right then and there that THAT ALONE was worth going all in for the Inner Circle of the Mastery program. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't taken the time to work out the math on it. It literally pays for itself. But before you jump into that boat, you better learn VERY WELL what you're doing so that once you take on those golden opportunities, you don't end up running them into the ground with your lack of knowledge and education. I certainly wouldn't want to attempt it until I know EXACTLY what I'm doing. The $2K for the initial program to help me get started wholesaling will be EASILY recouped with just one wholesale deal, and even counts 100% as a partial payment against the cost of the full Mastery program. I'm only awake right now because I'm staying up late tonight to get started studying the materials so I can be fully prepared to hit the ground running the moment I have the finances available for the $2k program. I want to have as much knowledge and preparation in place ahead of time as I possibly can. So far, I've only attended the free seminar and the 3-day seminar, but I still have much, MUCH more I could say about this wonderful company. However, I think what I've shared so far is more than sufficient for anyone who's reasonable-headed enough to know that the world will never be handed to them on a silver platter for free, and I really want to get back to learning about making money (in preparation for actually DOING it), instead of just talking about it. In short, Fortune Builders is not even remotely close to a scam. It's a wonderful company, and I can't wait to start walking this road with them! I attended the Fortune Builders Info Empire Event on February 24-26, 2012 in San Diego, CA. I was disappointed with their unprofessional ways of being. Four of the speakers, Than Merrill, Ralph Plumb, Louis Howes, to name a few, cussed on stage including dropping the "F" bombs. It was unprofessional and diminished the listening of themselves and thus their business. Than Merrill was the biggest hypocrite of them all because he was relating a story of how much he admired his NFL coach, Tony Dungy, for how he could gain control of the crowd and his speaking ability and how he achieved this without ever cussing. Than Merrill should follow Tony's lead. Than Merrill also related a story about how his own mother had attended one of his events. She was surprised with the cussing on stage. Than Merrill's response to his mother was, "I'm just being who I am." Not only is that response disrespectful to his mother, but it is inauthentic. Cussing is not "being who he is". "Who he is" is contribution and if he acknowledges that THAT is who he truly is, his business would flourish would velocity. Than Merrill referenced his admiration for speakers who made a difference like Martin Luther King, Jr. and Steve Jobs. Imagine if either one of them cussed during their memorable, forever-changing-society speeches to the public. They would not be remembered for their contribution to the world, but would be boxed in the same category as Howard Stern. Now I understand that Than, Ralph, and Louis were former football players. They need to understand that "locker room" talk is what it is. It should be kept in the locker room. The beauty of language and art of speaking is understanding not just 1. what you say, 2. how you say it, but 3. WHEN AND WITH WHOM you say it. Than Merrill kept expressing the first two but forgot or maybe is unaware of the third component. Ralph mentioned a few times that he is scheduled to speak at Sir Richard Branson's event to thousands. For his sake and his company's sake, I hope he speaks professionally without the cuss words. Because of the unprofessional ways of how the representatives of this company represented themselves on stage during the entire weekend, I chose not to purchase their services or products and would wholly advise others not to as well. I suggest that Than, Ralph, and the rest of the company further pursue their training and development in public speaking, contribution, acknowledgement, and authenticity. Because I do think that they have a good product to offer, I will continue to follow their business. When they present themselves as professional and more polished, I will be ready to buy. I do acknowledge two of the speakers, Ryan and Kristy, who gave great presentations and were strong and confident in themselves that they did not feel the need to cuss on stage during their presentations. read more

I have been a real estate investor since the '80's. The techniques are always changing and that is why I have attended most of the name brand seminars over the years. I signed up for the FB 3 day seminar, not thinking that it would be much different than the $2,000 or $1,600 seminars offered by others that were just a high pressure sales gathering that left ALOT to be desired when it comes to useable information. So, what was a $200 seminar going to do, out perform the more expensive seminars? THAT is exactly what they did. From my perspective as an active investor, they knocked it out of the park! Yes, they do have upsell programs but it isn't high pressure, it is merely presented as an option, a means to hold your hand, streamline your business operation and ensure your success if you choose to put the time and energy into the real estate investing world. I have read the 1 and 2 star comments and they seem to be the very ones who haven't done any RE deals, but yet they are experts. I've been in this business for 35+ years and I can tell you this; FB is the real deal. There was more information in this 3 day seminar than all the others combined. Real estate is NOT a get rich quick business, it takes time, energy, dedication, HARD WORK and most of all dedication to your business. Business? Yes, that is exactly what it is, a business and should be treated as such. The FB approach is a tried and true cookie cutter approach that has the potential to make you a lot of money. For the guy who commented that there aren't any more RE deals out there, he is obviously the one who could benefit from the course the most. Where the hell have you been, I see a lot of deals each and every day, they ARE out there and this course shows you how to find them. And for the one who commented on their cookie cutter approach not allowing him to design his own kitchens and baths, anyone can do what they like as far as a rehab is concerned. I'll take the FB approach, more profit with less time and that is why I do this. The entire 3 day was 8 hrs each day with day three showing how to raise outside money and then finishing up with rehab techniques. This course is worth the money, worth the time, worth the effort and if you apply what they teach you, has the potential to change your life. Attorneys take a course to help them pass the LSAT, without the course, even with their legal knowledge, most CAN'T pass the LSAT on their own, so they take a course that shows them how to pass. Real estate agents and brokers do the same, take a course to enable them to get their license, The FB course will show you how to wholesale and rehab houses in a much shorter time than if you try to do it on your own. I take umbrage against the claims that there is nothing to be gained in the $197 3-day seminar for the "flip houses" Fortune Builder's weekend. A solid 25% of my weekend was about flipping houses. That is HONESTLY 25% of down to the bone information on what a real estate investor is and is not (I learned that they should not be conflated as speculators - a thought that had not occurred to me). There was some amount of information on how to be one. So to suggest it was ALL a sale to sell the honest to goodness position as a student of the successful Fortune Builders system is disingenuous. And you are just one of the negative people who were warned early in the program that one of their seminar mates would inform the administration of the seminar and have them REMOVED. So, pay your $197, sit down, follow orders and if your financial situation is compatible, pay your at least $14,995 to have any chance of competing with the overwhelmingly organised organization. You see, to suggest that you could ever, EVER compete with this system is LUDICROUS and, in short, impossible. So stop your God-Danged negativity and get off of your back-side and live your dreams! Live them now or you suck! There are three types of people: those who do nothing, those motivated to change their lives and pay $197 and take notes at the speed of light before the slide changes, and those who do all of that and have immediate access to multiples of thousands of dollars or other financial resources/contacts. The message here is = the former are "losers" and the last, "winners". Thank god I attended because life has never conveyed this message previously. If there is any doubt as to the complete veracity of my rebuttal, look up the word: facetious. Seriously though, it is a brilliant program in its conception. It is masterfully deployed to the masses in a bullet resistant woolly Kevlar business suit. I fail to see its morality as anything more than any other investment, as they pointed out themselves, "franchise like". On the contrary it is marketed as a helpful solution to that which ails you. It is not. It is, very probably, a good wolfie investment in, well, a woolly Kevlar sheep suit. Thanks Ryan for the good info. but seriously I wish you would go all the way with the Karma narrative and just teach house flipping all weekend. Reduce the days to two, for example. My husband and I attended the three day seminar taught by Ryan Carmody in Glendale, Ca. Ryan was very informative and humble. We learned a lot about finances and real estate investing. Yes, there's still a lot more to learn but I felt like it was worth my time and investment to get me started to view my finances differently. As young adults, we're taught a certain way of life to live by. This seminar opened my eyes to so many other ways of being successful and making our money work. I was shocked to learn about what most of us think 401K does for us but it really isn't enough for us to retire with. They weren't just saying it to sell us the mastery program but informing us even if we decided not to join. They did do some sells pitch but I never felt pressured in any way, they simply continued to inform us. They had video clips proving their financial information with 401k from credible sources with interviews shown on documentaries and news agencies. I can understand why some would be skeptical about FB, I was a bit too but after attending, it opened my eyes to endless ideas and possibilities. If anything, I wish this kind of financial education classes were available and required in high school or at the very least in college. I would give it 4.8 stars if I could because I wish the program cost was cut up by months in services. If they have 12 months of coaching, maybe they can spread that cost by 6 months. Just like tuition for college, we pay per semester. I also wish they gave stats on student success. Just like college, college and universities show their student success rate and graduation rate, I wish I knew FB student success numbers as well. I was actually surprised FB doesn't have those stats since everything they taught us dealt with seeing our numbers to inform ourselves in order to make a decision in investments. For the most part, we were pretty happy leaving the seminar and even though we didn't buy the mastery program, we still left with a lot of useful information. I feel that just like anything you decide to pursue, you must put in the work to become successful. You also have to realize having a business has never been a guarantee to success and there's always risk involved. I believe the FB Mastery program gives you the resources to help you, gives you the tools, the coaching and helps you be efficient in your business, the rest is up to you. We weren't able to join the mastery program but we're looking forward to do so in the near future. I'll update my review then. read more

I just attended a Fortune Builders workshop in Milwaukee over this last weekend and was extremely impressed with the speakers (JD Ejasian and Denise DeVoe) as well as the rest of the team presenting the program to the 130+ attendees. The wealth of information that they shared about wholesaling, rehabbing and asset protection are all components of knowledge that I needed to help me in reorganizing and building a real estate portfolio. As with anything that I get involved with...I read the reviews (both good and bad) before participating. Typically if the bad outweighs the good, then I do not bother and while Fortune Builders have both positive and negative Internet reviews; the negative reviews seem to dwell on the price of the education while the good reviews mainly focuses on the quality of the education that Fortune Builders provide. I can honestly say that (in my opinion) Fortune Builders "gives it to you straight". They do not use deception about the business and sugarcoat what you have to do to become successful. They tell you up front, you have to work hard, you have to apply the concepts to your business that they are teaching in order to recognize success. We were told initially that they would provide us with the opportunity to rise to a higher level of awareness in the business through their Mastery Program. This program provides hands on training for rehabbing, wholesaling and an introduction to their systems to help you get organized, as well as access to their money lenders. To anyone who feels that those techniques, that knowledge, and those valuable contacts should have been given to them for the $197 paid for the workshop, I would like to suggest this approach. Take a look at what a Realtor, a Mortgage Broker, an Attorney, a General Contractor and a Business Systems Manager pays for their "combined" education, then compare it to the cost of the Mastery Program. The cost difference is minuscule. In my opinion, I truly feel that everyone in that room this weekend got more workable knowledge about real estate investing than some people get over a lifetime; for the mere cost of $197. Wanted to write this review in order to help others make a life changing decision. By far this has to be one of the best decisions in my life. Along with many others. Thank's to Than Merrill's Fortune Builders I was able to meet like Minded People. People who not only wanted a true change in their lives, but a change that makes sense. A change with an end result that not only helps you in your life personally, but it helps you financially, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. Than Merrill's Fortune Builders becomes pretty much your family and helps you in every way they can pretty much whenever they can. All around a great choice when planning on investing in yourself and others. A traditional education (College) (Private School) will run you the 50k for the Fortune Builders mastery in one semester depending in which school you go to. In other words, education is an investment and with Than Merrill's Fortune Builders all I can say personally is that you can't go wrong, if you listen to your coaches and follow the systems all while being in company of your big family. It's possible guys I did it and anyone can. Do it for yourself, for your family, for the world, for those you love, your worth it, we all are. Personally Working on becoming a doctor since traveling to Haiti along with other parts of Mexico on a mission trip with my church I was mind blown when hearing Cole Hatter speak. I felt as if it was my future self speaking to me saying hey you can do this. Listening to his story and being able to relate to it so deeply in an emotional level really made me inspired to want to be the best version of myself. It opened me to a new paradigm of people who are winning in every way. Spiritually by giving back and doing good with good spirits, mentally by staying on track and crushing it in Real Estate. And emotionally by sharing there stories along with many others. I think I over heard Cole speak about his wife winning a physique competition. So seeing others doing well in life and having them become your mentors or part of your family made me believe in something greater than myself. Being part of the Fortune Builders family I not only have bettered myself financially, but i've grown mentally, and spiritually. Guys do yourselves a favor and don't over think it. I recently (and by recently I literally mean about 5 hours ago!) attend a 2-day Marketing Systems Immersion with my fiancé Lee. I believe that it is important to both recognize and applaud a job well done - and Jenna Hoover rocked it!! She was professional, informative, and truly passionate about real estate. She was both personable and funny - a bonus for an audience spending 16 hours at an event! This event was jam packed with information on how, why, and when to start, continue, and grow your marketing systems and company as a whole. I particularly liked the Realeflow and Outreach Campaigns and am looking forward to implementing them in our own business. Jenna was extremely knowledgeable and shared her own experiences and "ninja" tips along the way. LOVE the ninja tips!! There was one part of the day when we were asked to role play a conversation between a seller and an investor. As I fumbled through a particular section, Jenna said something along the lines of "You got this, you know exactly what you need to say. Pause for a minute and just have a regular conversation." That's exactly what I did and I was able to successfully talk my way through the conversation, while remembering that, yes I do know what I am talking about. What Jenna did for me there was remind me that I have the tools, support, and systems behind me and I should feel absolutely confident in my delivery. It's little things like that, that make a difference. Fortune Builders has created a phenomenal system for teaching real estate education. Organization and efficiency are my "thing" and I am truly blown away by what they do - from the caliber of people they have leading their events (shout out to John Steingraber and Shawn Tiberio who also led ZING events) to the detail in their systems. We also had the honor of attending a Wholesale Bootcamp led by Than Merrill - WOW is all I can say. The way in which he leads his company, imparts his wisdom, and both motivates and inspires those around him is beyond admirable. I HIGHLY recommend Fortune Builders if you are looking for an exceptional real estate education. They have made educating, inspiring, and motivating those who are "part of their family" a priority and it shows. Jenna kicked off the weekend as our presenter, and we feel like we left on Sunday with not only a wealth of marketing information, but a new friend. Well lets just start by saying that we attended the Duluth, GA seminar in Duluth this pass Saturday and it was a pretty good turnout. I did not expect to leave there being pressured to pay $198 dollars for a plastic bag with one booklet. not to mention in the booklet the Foundations of Real Estate Investing Chapter 2 "The Twelve Commandments of how Wealthy People Think. It starts with paragraphs mentioning Rich people and Poor people and how they think. A paragraph mentioned how "Wealthy people in all industries never stop acquiring specialized knowledge related to their business or profession. Poor people, on the other hand usually make the mistake of believing that the learning process ends when they finish school or receive their degree". Another example paragraph, " Wealthy people willingly invest in their education and that in contrast poor people think that they can acquire their knowledge from free sources online. Or how private school students are more successful in comparison to most public school systems. And it goes on and on. How degrading is it on how you go back and forth degrading poor people and raising high the wealthy people. I am a very spiritual person and I will say this. It does not matter what spectrum in life we come from, nor does it matter what class of people you come from. We are all one and not to mention GOD's children. I love Real Estate and have a passion for it. I love to make people happy in reaching their goals of having a piece of the American dream to own their own home. That is within me and the power to give back to my communities. I figured let me go this seminar and it was a turn down. I would rather go through another path and not pursue the Than Merrill's path. What a bunch of money hungry losers. ln the eyes of our God and savior Jesus Christ read Matthew 19 Chapters 17-30. Consider how you view people, or how you view your own life. How does Jesus's way of seeing so called losers and winners change your perspective? Answer that question. Real estate is a profession not a trip for money hungry individuals who degrade the poor and worship the wealthy. You will never be happy working it that way. We became Fortune Builder's students in January of 2017 and will already make our first offer on a distressed bank owned property on 2/16. This is the result of confidence in the initial 3 day seminar (a paltry $195) and the following 2 sets of 2 day weekend "Immersions" on business foundations and marketing. It doesn't take a math genius to figure out Risk vs. Reward and determine that education like this is invaluable. I read many of the "1 Star Ratings" of others who didn't pull the trigger. It's likely that they simply didn't have the financial resources at the time (*The 'tell' is that they go right to the cost) and didn't want to work to explore the financing (something that they should have considered before paying $200 for a class about "BUYING and REHABBING" houses). So, instead of just taking a mature pass on Fortune Builders, they lash out so that they don't feel so badly about it. For example, the one comment that accuses FB of "cheating the IRS" because he's shared brilliant legal tax defense strategies (that ultimately help the economy at large) shows that some people should really actually NOT take this course because their aptitude just isn't there for this level of big thinking 6-7 digit profit potentials. If you have a 'poverty mentality' or have an entitlement mentality, please move on. If you can commit to grad and master level focused education with the support of professional investors (most of whom are clearly millionaires), then please do everything you can to commit 100% - and remember, that you're not alone in this and never will be. If you can't afford the Mastery Program and can't make it work with financing, just apply the methods as best that you can and come back later after you've made that profit on your first one or two rehabs. First I'm not going to waste much time on the negative feedback from the ones referring to "Fortune Builders" as a scam. If you can't see real opportunity when its smack dab in your face then this business is definitely not for you! I've always wanted to get into every aspect of real estate and working for myself since I could remember. Now that I've found "fortune Builders" they've made it possible for me to make my dream become a reality. Fortune Builders offers an amazingly amazing in depth from A to Z Real Estate Business educational learning curriculum. The learning curriculum, the tools, resources, business structure, coaching and support are very impressive. You couldn't ask for a better Real Estate Business development program. It's like attending University all from the comforts of your own home, on your own time. There is so much more information, education and training than what's offered at the two hour and three day workshop. Ryan the speaker at the three day workshop did an excellent job presenting the many facets of becoming a member of "fortune Builders Mastery Program" . The "Full Immersion" is another two day work shop that consist of one day of classroom Real Estate related activities and one day of actual field training which you apply what you've learned on real properties and that's just the beginning. I'm pretty sure there aren't any schools nor internet sites in the USA that offers a free professional "Real Estate Investing" program on the same level that "Fortune Builders" offers. This weekend was a very eye-opening experience. Ryan "RyGuy" Burk is a knowledgeable, down to earth guy who deals a lot with investment right here in the Bay Area. These are some of the things I got out of this workshop: -the importance of financial education, what it entails (the main reason why my older sister brought me this weekend) -the truth about your 401k -different types of systems that make (or break) a business -*asset protection; own nothing, but control everything Yes, it will seem like a scam, just like a lot of the other reviewers before me are trying to emphasize. When you go to seminars/workshops like these, a scam is the typical thing to expect. However the Mastery Program that FortuneBuilders offers resembles a lot to a traditional school ,in my opinion, because the value of it is nearly identical to if you were to attend a trade school, like Carrington College. Opposed to educating yourself in the medical field, you would be educating yourself in the art of real estate. You get workshops, personal coaching, and their own personal software to keep your business organized and efficient-- so long as you apply yourself. It is very similar to if you were to attend a vocational/trade school. Just like any type of school, you would need to put the work in. A lot of people think that just because they invest money into something, doesn't matter how much money was invested, that they are automatically entitled to reap the benefits that were entailed. If it were that simple, wouldn't everyone be rich by now? There is only so much I can say in a review; this is just one of those things you need to see for yourself.
