    Rip off $8
    Terri M.

This place has terrible service and tries to rip people off. I ordered 2 dipped cones which I guess is about $7-8 each, and a meat patty. They said it was like $22, I said whoa why is it so expensive. I paid and looked at the reciept and said whoa why am I being charged $7 for a meat patty? At Mcdonalds I pay $1.59 and at In-n-out is about $1. They said they have to charge me for a full burger. I said I don't want a full burger I said plain meat patty because it's for my dog. I canceled it. But also $8 for a subpar ice cream with a tiny bit of choc topping on it because we got it in a cup, big NOPE.

Never had this experience earlier. They charged $1 for the cup, just b'cos we asked water along with $20+ food.

I was craving a burger. I happened to be next to a Foster's Freeze (FF). I haven't been to an FF in years. I figured let's try it. I went with the boss and let me say I was impressed. I really enjoyed the burger. The fries were also good. They also serve Pepsi products. A small special note, due to some issues, they didn't have lettuce. We live in weird times. Nothing against FF. Just a note of the weird times we live in on how we can't get lettuce when lettuce comes from the central coast. Weird. Thanks FF for a great burger.

Small cone/cup, hot fudge Sunday, with whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry. Yummy!!!

It did the job. I thought it was kind of pricy, but it delivered. I got the hot fudge Sunday and it was all I wanted in a Sunday. And my dog got a few licks of a plain vanilla cup. They have plenty of seating indoors and a spacious parking lot. Service is quick and they are happy to answer questions. They don't serve child size cones. They are in the middle of a parking lot of empty businesses right off of the Main Street. My GPS gave me round about directions. If you see it just pull in.

I ordered a shake a small and it was $9.14 for this small shake what a rip off

This was the worst place I've been. No one came to take my order and I was the only customer in the restaurant.

A clam chowder starter (delicious!), a huge loaded baked potato, veggie sides that weren't mushy & garlic bread where you can taste the garlic. Elsewhere, we'd have to order those separately. The best part of our meal was our server, Maddie. She was super attentive and friendly. The place was packed and we snagged the last table before others had to wait. We figured Maddie would drop our food off and we'd never see her again, being the mad house it was. But she checked back with us at least 5 times - filled my drink without me asking. It was the best service I got all year anywhere. Thank you, Maddie, for restoring my faith in great customer service!

Good thing we live in Hollister so that we can frequent this place again. Husband and I shared the Cowboy Burger: 1/2 Angus beef with onion ring, BBQ sauce, we switched out the Jack cheese for swiss.... and we opted for a salad instead of fries. W I had a Michelada (this was ok) and a pink lemonade buzz ball. Husband had the Blind Pig. Everything was great. It was a hot day, but our servers were attentive even with the menu delay. We were chilling. Def would come back!

White tablecloths, cozy booths, elegant decor, smooth music floating in the background... the whole place has classic old-school steakhouse energy in the best possible way. The bar area was already lively when we arrived around 4:50 p.m., and little by little the dining room filled up too. For a small town, this place was humming. Always a reassuring sign when hungry hikers are making important dinner decisions. Carmen, our server, was absolutely superb. Warm, professional, genuinely friendly, and her recommendations were spot on. The kind of service that quietly elevates the whole evening without making a performance out of it. We shared a ribeye with peppercorn sauce, a pear and prosciutto salad, and a deeply decadent chocolate dessert because apparently our bodies decided we had "earned it" after the trails. Honestly? Fair. The steak was beautifully prepared, flavorful and satisfying. The salad balanced everything nicely, and dessert fully committed to richness without apology. The only small miss for me was the mashed potatoes, which could have used a touch more creaminess. They seemed emotionally reserved. I also had a Manhattan that was expertly crafted, smooth, balanced, and exactly the kind of cocktail you want while sinking into a booth after miles of hiking. We genuinely enjoyed ourselves here. It felt less like dinner and more like a reward ceremony for surviving the trails, the sun, and our knees negotiating every downhill section.

We made same day reservations, showed up and was greeted by a friendly host who brought us to our tablecloth-covered, fresh-flowered table. I enjoyed the casual atmosphere that wanted to feel fancy. Our server Sophia G. was a pure delight. We started with drinks, enjoyed the complimentary bread/warm butter, and paced ourselves for a relaxed dinner. Me: Apricot Orchard. Good flavor, definitely not a strong a drink, drank it almost like it was a juice box. Hubbs: Hazy IPA from a local brewery. For dinner, I ordered the Jerusalem Chicken and seriously, it was perfection! Comforting, hearty boneless chicken breast topped with artichokes, sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms in a wine cream sauce. Every bite was delicious. The accompanying vegetables were flavorful and had a great texture. Oh man, it was so good! Hubby ordered fettucine alfredo with chicken and he was pleased. Chicken had a nice grill to it, pasta not overcooked, plenty of sauce. Just for fun, he ordered a single meatball to try as well and enjoyed it too! Service was great. Atmosphere was relaxed. Food was tasty. Definitely glad we visited Paines! We ordered

By this point in the trip, we were fully committed to our "tapas style everything" philosophy. Why order one entrée each when you can create a tiny feast and slowly steal bites off each other's plates with zero shame? Over the two evenings, we shared the Berry Burrata Salad, Beet & Spinach Salad, cauliflower, Seared Ahi Tuna, Dungeness crab cakes, Angel Hair Pasta with shrimp, and lava cake. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the kind of texture that makes Italians nod approvingly from a distance. The crab cakes were flavorful and satisfying, and the beet salad thankfully avoided the tragic fate of being "healthy but boring." The lava cake was gloriously decadent and absolutely understood its assignment. The ahi tuna was good, though I wished for a bit more flavor to stand up to the wasabi situation happening on the plate. The Berry Burrata Salad was the only dish that felt a little sleepy. The berries seemed more decorative than committed. In a region overflowing with gorgeous local strawberries, I wanted the salad to lean harder into its fruity potential. Cocktail-wise, the pomegranate margarita was refreshing, balanced, and dangerously easy to keep sipping. Service was a mixed bag between the two nights. The first evening, our server gave off strong "this table again?" energy, and we had to remind her about bread. Meanwhile, one of the chefs stopped by to warmly thank us for dining there, which completely shifted the tone and genuinely stood out. Night two was a different experience altogether. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made the evening feel much more relaxed and welcoming. The space itself is lovely, warm, comfortable, with that slightly old-school elegance that makes you want to linger over another drink and pretend you are not in your hiking clothesq
