So decided to get a twister and found out that the limited time peppermint Oreo twister is no longer available. I was hoping it would stay on as a regular item but guess I was wrong. And the large chocolate ice cream cones have decreased in size. This place has terrible service and tries to rip people off. I ordered 2 dipped cones which I guess is about $7-8 each, and a meat patty. They said it was like $22, I said whoa why is it so expensive. I paid and looked at the reciept and said whoa why am I being charged $7 for a meat patty? At Mcdonalds I pay $1.59 and at In-n-out is about $1. They said they have to charge me for a full burger. I said I don't want a full burger I said plain meat patty because it's for my dog. I love going to fosterfreeze for the burritos. Those burritos are really super good. The price is a little high but it's totally worth it and you also need special fosters purple burrito sauce. It is so good one of the best burritos I've ever eaten in my whole life. I'm not going to complain about the price, because I choose to pay it, but they're relatively expensive, so especially for that money, you should know what you're getting. So I decided to come here around 9pm and on their window it says they close at 1 A.M. We were here for about 30 mins waiting for our food and ice cream. Then our food came out and they forgot our ice cream. Then, after one hour later they brought out our ice cream at exactly 10:09 and they told us on the loudspeaker that the place was closed at 10 and we needed to leave but mind you It's 1009 and we barely got our ice cream, so not only did they kick us out of Foster freeze on trust penis Avenue they also gave Us our icecream hella late. Also, after being there for an hour waiting for her food, we got really thirsty to be asked for a water cup, and they wanted to charge us for a water cup. So then we really lost it in left. I was craving a burger. I happened to be next to a Foster's Freeze (FF). I haven't been to an FF in years. I figured let's try it. I went with the boss and let me say I was impressed. I really enjoyed the burger. The fries were also good. They also serve Pepsi products. A small special note, due to some issues, they didn't have lettuce. We live in weird times. Nothing against FF. It did the job. I thought it was kind of pricy, but it delivered. I got the hot fudge Sunday and it was all I wanted in a Sunday. And my dog got a few licks of a plain vanilla cup. They have plenty of seating indoors and a spacious parking lot. Service is quick and they are happy to answer questions. They don't serve child size cones. You remember the old ice cream shop?  It's a few blocks from home.  And on those hot summer days, you and your buddies would walk there with your money, and each buys a cold one.  Then you're standing on the corner, watching all the girls go by, while you eat it all up, not minding if it drips on the sidewalk. And, not surprisingly in the old-timey redneck town of Hollister, you can find that old ice cream shop in the form of Fosters Freeze. It's in the newer part of town, to the south. Fosters Freeze has ice cream, and then some.  Unlike the Fosters in the Bay Area, this does not have a drive-up where you can eat in your car, nor a place to sit at a picnic table outside. It does have a primitive drive-through if you want to grab and go. Inside looks a typical burger joint from the 1950s. Having eaten at several Fosters by now, I knew what to expect when I visited the one in Hollister after an 8 mile hike at Pacheco State Park. I had the Triple American, with three quarter pound patties and three slices of American cheese, along with the tomatoes and special sauce. Not really a work of art and doesn't taste phenomenal, but it does fill you up well.  I was most surprised by the fries: they were GREAT! Crinkle cut, crisp, strong taste, did not need any ketchup. Fosters Freeze would fit well on San Benito Street east of downtown, but it's on Tres Pinos, which makes it convenient for people who live in this area. It isn't a great date place.  Instead, it's where you take the kids on the way to the ball game, or if you just watched "American Graffiti" and want to feel like you're at Mel's Burger City. read more

I tried fosters after one of my friends hyped it up , the food was so underwhelming. I got the big boss and let me tell you it was no boss. The patty was barely luke warm almost like if it's been sitting for some time. Wanted a milkshake ... to console my arm after it had been poked with the booster vaccine. I was super excited to give it a try in my attempt to find a delicious well made milk shake in this area. Boy was I disappointed! I'm all about a sweet milkshake. After all a milkshake is ice cream and should be sweet ... but this? Ugh! It was like drinking cold imitation vanilla simple syrup (more syrup than simple). It was horridly sweet to the point of cringeworthy inedibility and therefore ended up in the trash. This place is straight trash. All the burgers we ordered looked like they just slapped them together. No pride in making them look nice. I kept apologizing to my family for making the mistake in buying them food from here. My wife spent the night throwing up because of the food. The place looks dirty, man I should have known it was a bad idea. Plus it was expensive. Next time we will just either cook at home or just stay away from this nasty place. They were looking at 2 wrapped sandwiches and couldn't figure out if it had onions and tomatoes which he didn't want. Ultimately they told him to just bring it back if it was wrong, duh. The cashier must have been new. She Didn't know the menu and struggled with the register. She got confused easily, she was nice though. The quarter pound chili cheese dogs could have been a lot better for 5.49 each. The chili was on the dry side. Could have used some more cheese. They were stingy with all the toppings. The onions should be included at this price. Who charges 0.30¢ extra for each hotdog. Ridiculous. They looked like they were prepared by 2 different people, see the 2 pictures. The banana shake had too much syrup in it and was unexceptable to drink. Think drinking just syrup. Yuck. As with any Fosters freeze the chocolate soft serve cone can use more chocolate. read more

Constantly forgets my drinks, I pay multiple dollars for a large upsize and I almost always get a small fry. They charge you extra for sauce yet they never give it to you. The workers here are incompetent and lazy I do not recommend. read more

We stopped here for lunch and it was open. You can choose to use the drive thru or go inside. We went inside. The restaurant looked clean. We walked up and ordered our food. It came pretty fast. I ordered a cheese dog. My husband and daughter got fish and chips. We didn't eat inside because my daughter didn't feel comfortable so we ate in the car. Went in around 7:06 Completely empty, I'm the only customer. The employees were only working the drive through so they didn't have a lot going on. Took someone a bit over 3 minutes before I had my order taken. After that I watch them make my order (I only ordered 1 item) and watched as the employee walked back and forth while my order (finished and ready to go sitting under the warmer) was sitting there for about 1 minute and 1/2. I ended up leaving at 7:13 I wouldn't care if I knew they were busy, but this is by far the worst service I've had at this foster freeze. read more

Great service and prices so i though i would get the same here, not the case Waited in the drive through line for 18 min. Today August 14, 2023 Took a friend to get an ice cream of her choice at Hollister's Foster Freeze. We like the ice cream. Staff was pretty good. But... 1st we noticed a very unpleasant order. Like old oil with a fishy smell. Smelled like a homeless camp. Yep we've been by a couple of those,so we know the smell. Unclean order. Friend went to use restroom. It was unclean as well. Dirty crubby walls and floors. As we sat down we noticed two chairs that were so crubby filthy . Not worth cleaning just needed to be thrown away. We then noticed the window sills were warped. The whole place needed to be redone, cleaned, scrubbed,needed to be remodeled. This is an eye sore for Hollister Citizens and Guests to our city. Foster Freeze used to be a place to take a date to. For families as a treat. Foster Freeze has been an icon place in CA History! Yours is a humiliating !!! This is an "owners responsibility" to keep their restaurant clean and inviting. What happened to your (owners) pride. Id be ashamed to call this filthy rundow establishment my business. It look absolutely unhealthy. OLD and CLEAN is ok. This is neither!!!! You need to put in some elbow grease!!! Elbow grease and bleach. Some paint and replacement of warped dirty decore! It wont cost that much. Your prices are high enough. Owners take some PRIDE. The Staff can help out a bit. However It IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!!!! Oh and do the corners of every floor!!! Lazy mopping and sweeping! Rip out the carpet or at least shampoo it once a week. Heres a list of proven cleaning supplys: * Baking soda *Mr Clean white scrubbing pads *Bleach *Pumic ( toilets water stains) *Bar Keeper Friend **TSP liquid ( great for walls and greasy areas) *Windows -hot water and white vineager. Use news paper to wipe with. Use Tooth brushes Toothpicks Green scrub pads to clean the tight places. Here's your shopping list Three of ea cleaning item and a doz of ea cleaning pad should be a good start. Buy a carpet shampooer (couple hundred bucks) Close for your slowest times/days It will be WELL worth your effort! Now put on YOUR(owners) grubbiest clothes and GET TO WORK. Oh and dont forget to clean up the outside. Theres trash all over your business plater areas!! Have employees do that on down time. Your ice cream is Great! Iconic even. Try using fresh meat for your burgers. Buy better quality frozen items. You dont have to raise prices if you do. Just STOP being a penny pincher! To the staff. You were pretty nice. Would like to see... More smiles. Happier voices when you greet costumers. And Clean up the lobby when not busy. It was pretty clean . Just needs Company is Coming cleaning. Pink wash clothes for table tops White ones for seats. Use Bleach in a bucket of HOT water. Never mix top towles with bottom. I dont want you to use clothes on top that were used where a butt was! Wash glass doors after ever rush. Check bathrooms every hour and after rushes. You work there take Pride in your place of employment. I will come back for ice cream but Wont go inside!! was talking to my boyfriend when we were at the drive thru and I told him how it was so expensive for a kids meal $6 for two pieces of chicken (that we were not even ordering, just a comment I made). When we got to the window to pay the girl rudely mocked how i said it was expensive and gave my boyfriend a bad look. Pretty unprofessional to have been listening to our conversation before we even ordered and repeated it back to us. I'm a host at a steak house in Silicon Valley and I would be fired for treating a costumer like this. Update: The manager contacted me and tried to resolve the situation. Went there today with my family and let's say it'll be my last. After taking forever & also messing up my order these two girls have the audacity to be irritated after they messed up something I paid extra for. Especially since I was speaking to them nice, the other girl (the one with the bun) that does the drinks got irritated because she messed up on my one of my drinks, then she goes ahead and looks at the other female like if we (the customer) made a mistake. When telling them to act professional and admit that they made a mistake, the lady with the short hair stutters and can't even give me an answer & closes the window. All I have to say is not only does this place have stale and old food such as their gummy worms / marshmallows but their employees have a horrible attitude and curse infront of customers. They look extremely miserable and can't seem to act professional at all. Last time one of them had to apologize for losing her temper & almost a year later she still hasn't changed one bit, it's honestly such an embarrassment for an establishment is all I have to say. To top it off they still made my ice cream wrong lol. Please hire new staff because these ones are the worst and seem very unmotivated to work/ unprofessional and unwilling to admit their mistakes but as soon as a camera is recording them their whole behavior changes. read more
