I like to try different places in Hollister when I go and visit my sister. I mostly look for family owned. This was specially nice. We went there about a half an hour before closing and hope for the best and that's what we got was the best! I ordered a half sandwich and soup. The soup was a lentil chili soup and it is amazing! I didn't even finish it and I went up to see if they had any left that I could take home to my family. I was pleased that they sold them in 32 ounce mason jars so of course I ordered two. The Caprese sandwich was amazing also. My sister had the half turkey sandwich and she loved it along with a beautiful salad, which was so big that I got to have some also! The dressing was a balsamic that was amazing. My understanding is that they get their vegetables fresh from local farms in Hollister, which was very nice to hear! Our server, Kim was very delightful and very knowledgeable about the restaurants background and shared a lot a lot about it with us. She was very helpful and are ordering and the delivery of our food. My nephew had a chicken sandwich and he loved it and took the rest home to enjoy later. The owners, Becky and Brian were both there a very nice husband and wife team. I want to give a shout out to Brian, who is also an artist! My Nephew and I were enjoying what we thought were black-and-white pictures of farms and old trucks and barns and such. Turns out the owner drew those from a picture and they are so amazing! I asked him if he had any for sale or wanted to sell any of them and he's thinking about it. On my next visit when I return the jars to get more lentil soup and enjoy their food again, I will hopefully be able to purchase one of these amazing photos! They also have books to read while you're there and for purchase I believe. I thought that was a really cool thing to add to this place. Found this local ORGANIC gem on Yelp and it did not disappoint. Ordered the turkey cranberry, thick sliced turkey breast, cream cheese, mayo and lettuce. I was a little hesitant because I have not had cream cheese on a samich before. The cranberry jelly is as sweet and just enough to drown out the cream cheese taste. It came on a gently toasted baguette which allowed to enjoy the freshness of the bread. It was delicious! I will be back to sample their other offerings. Service was great and very engaging staff. Ambiance was quiet with seating for about 20 people. Lots of books to read while there. read more

I can't say enough good things about Farmhouse Cafe--it's truly a hidden gem for lunch! Everyone was so nice and helpful! Tables were cleaned quickly and they paid great attention to guests! I ordered the half soup and half sandwich combo with the chamomile citron tea, potato leek soup, and caprese sandwich, and everything was absolutely delicious. The soup was warm, comforting, and full of flavor, and the sandwich was incredibly fresh. The bread had the perfect crisp, and every bite tasted clean and thoughtfully made. The pesto was especially impressive--not oily at all, just light and packed with flavor. I usually go for the jalapeño artichoke sandwich (which I love), but this might be my new favorite! They're only open 3 days a week and today during their business hours, my door dash was cancelled due to the business being closed abruptly. I absolutely love this place! It is so cute and quaint on the inside. The food is fresh and organic. I love the options they provide for breakfast and lunch. Employees are always friendly! However, I am giving 4 stars as they do need to improve on their employee training. Quite a few of my orders (more than 10) in person and over the phone have been incorrect up to the smallest request of substitution. It would also be nice if one of the owners would engage customers with a little more enjoyment and friendliness. Especially when she is choosing to work where everyone sits down to eat. It just adds the cherry on top in great customer service to repeating customers who bring new business. Either way, I will always continue to eat here and bring new friends! This place is delicious, I love the breakfast burrito, coffee machine broke, but since we're visiting, we happened to have iced coffee in a cooler in the car. Note to self: always a good idea to have emergency coffee in the car. Nice atmosphere, good service. If the coffee machine was up, this would be heaven. I used to loves this places breakfast burritos but I recently returned since they reopened. I expected the hire price because it's all "homegrown" but their breakfast burritos have shrunk tremendously to literally almost a quarter of the size yet the price stayed the same. I mean it was literally the size of a small sandwich. I paid $18 with tip for a very small portion FLAT burrito and a coffee. I'd been to this restaurant three times previously and really enjoyed it. The staff was friendly, service was quick, and the food was good. The fourth time, however, was not a good experience. We walked in, went to the counter to order, and were ignored. When we finally we greeted, I realized that cool vibe had gone. All the employees really did not want to be there, were not friendly, and were more interested in interacting with each other than the customers. The food was good, but portions are much smaller than previously, but the prices remained the same. I would just say to the owner, train your staff better, let go those that don't get it, and never forget your staff is the face of your business. Based on Yelp reviews we went to Fishers first. But, the prices were so ridiculous, we walked across the street to Farmhouse Cafe. The food was delicious and the serving sizes were very substantial. The menu is extremely limited. The pictures of menus they have on yelp isn't what they currently have. I had an americano and a cáprese sandwich. You can tell they are about sustainably grown organic food which is great. But coffee tasted funny they only had stevia and white sugar for it. I was extremely disappointed. First visit to this organic cafe. Busy little place, so I had to try it. For purposes of comparison, decided to try the Reuben (now everybody knows what a good Reuben tastes like?). Also ordered 1/2 southwest salad & OJ. ALAS, I was served a COLD Reuben. Who ever heard of a cold Reuben?? Cold pastrami + cold swiss cheese + cold sauerkraut. I closed my eyes and imagined hot juicy pastrami and oozing melted cheese . . . I took a bite, AN ABOMINATION! Fresh squeezed OJ was good, BUT $6 for a glass (1/2 filled with ice) - and YELP rates this place as cheap. The SW salad was very ordinary, a little corn, a little tomato, some pumpkin seeds and an undistinguished cilantro vinagrette. Note that this review is based on what I had to eat, which is not exactly what one orders in an Organic Restaurant. There were a lot of things on the menu that looked good. So I hope to be able to up grade his review in the future. Meanwhile, they would do well to clearly offer 2 options for a Reuben: HOT & cold. Update 7/3/18: Stopped by to try their breakfast burrito (sausage). Egg, sausage, potatoes, beans, and the highlight = fresh grilled veggies, all very neatly wrapped in a four tortilla. I had lunch here today with my sister and my Mom. Very disappointed in food quality. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. She seemed a bit stressed out and busy taking counter orders, answering the phone for take out and bringing food to the tables. While the owner sat at a table in the corner too busy on her laptop to get up and help. Chicken salad sandwich. ($14 sandwich with no sides and hardly any lettuce) chips and iced tea was $18. Sourdough bread was stale and tasted like it came straight from the refrigerator. My Mom had the burger and fries. The burger meat was terrible with no seasoning at all, fries were mushy. I had high hopes since it's advertised as farm to table and there are so few restaurants here in town. I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant. I would have just marked one star, but felt the cashier/counter person was trying her best....maybe next time the owner will get up and help out. read more

Such a refreshing alternative place to eat in hollister. The food is farm to table, supporting local farmers and you can taste the difference. Fishers across the street tries to imitate their food but is way over priced and just plain not very good. I sit and eat at the farm house looking across the street at the empty "fishers delicatessens" and count the days until the doors close for good on that place.
