I came here to try a twister because it's the closest thing I can find to a Dairy Queen's Blizzard and it did not disappoint! If I had to compare a DQ's blizzard and a Fosters twister blindfolded, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference! I ordered the Mint Oreo Twister which was a specialty flavor and it was delicious! The sizing is good. The specialty flavors do have a $2 up charge which was not disclosed on the sign outside. A normal small twister is $6.50 and a small mint Oreo twister was $8.25. I wish they advertised on their website which specialty flavors they currently have so you know before go but they have posters of them outside the building. There is plenty of parking in back or there is street parking. They don't have a drive thru unfortunately! Beware: they only take cash and no bills bigger than a $20. I just recently discovered Fosters and had it multiple times now and it always hits the spot! I got the cone and would recommend the mixed cone, as compared to just picking one flavor since you get the best of both worlds. They have a blizzard equivalent too with mix ins thats really popular and that's what I'm going to try next. They have a variety of desserts and there's plenty of parking. Service is also fast. Dude it's the 21st century, you gotta take card/digital payment man! "There's an atm" which didn't work for me and my family because we don't even carry cards anymore, just our phones for tap. Came to Foster's Freeze on a weekday night and it wasn't too busy. I really wanted a junior size, but the smallest size they had was a small, which ended up being way too much for me. I think I only ate about a quarter of it before I was over it. I ordered the Worms and Dirt, which is basically cookies and cream with gummy worms on top. The gummy worms were good, but honestly I didn't love them with the cookies and cream. Texture was kinda like a blizzard vibe. It wasn't bad, just not a combination I would order again. When I crave a sundae, I usually make the drive to Torrance for Foster's Freeze. It doesn't matter if it's hot or cold, there is always a line here so you know it's popular. They have a designated lot in the back, and also street parking. I usually get their hot fudge sundae with peanuts & brownies, oreo mint twister, and mud pie twister (coffee & oreo flavored). One of the original Foster's Freeze locations. Been coming here since I was a child and still standing to this day. It's a walkthrough location, no drive-thru. Parking is normally fairly easy. Normally I'm parked in Old Torrance and while walking around, we'll stop by. Prices have gone up over the years, but what hasn't. You can't really go wrong with anything here, just depends on what you're craving. Service is fine, nothing amazing and not bad by any means Personal favorites are the soft-serve vanilla, soft serve chocolate dipped, sundaes, and the twisters. I think they discontinued the junior size twisters which used to be the perfect size for me, but the small is perfectly shareable. The Fosters Freeze here on Cravens Ave. in old Torrance was built in 1947. It was the 23rd stand built. There is parking out front on Cravens Ave & in a small lot behind this building. Enter and exit the drive very slowly or you'll most likely scrape the bottom of the front of your car. This is one of only four locations that uses the "ice cream in a cup" logo sign. Little Foster is the mascot's name and is a smiling ice cream cone - not the same as the aforementioned logo. There's a walk up window to place your order and two picnic tables to sit at. We usually take ours to the car. There's not usually too much interaction. A quick hello, placing and picking up our order. TIP: This is a CASH ONLY treat shop! Hubby & son really love Fosters Freeze! It's so-so for me because I'm not a fan of the yellowish ice cream. However, the flavor & texture is good. We visit this location once or twice a month. I most often get the smallest Twister which is a Junior size. I usually eat it in two sittings. I put the rest in the freezer until next time. Hubby gets a Chocolate Dipped Cone. Don't come here expecting to order hot food, they only sell ice cream at this location! The options are seemingly endless! There are so many advertising posters covering most all of the glass! We have tried quite a few different items, but have barely scratched the surface of the numerous frozen treats! Interesting Fact: Did you know that the founder, George Foster, bought the rights to Dairy Queen? Fosters Freeze was intended to be a Dairy Queen franchise. When we visited this Cravens Ave location we were surprised to see that they only accepted cash. Luckily we had cash. I'm not sure if it's still cash only so you may want to call beforehand. The ice cream is still great tasting and to be honest these SoCal locations are unique because we also tried the location in Lompoc and it does not taste anything like the Torrance or Inglewood location. We still have the best tasting fosters freeze here locally. It can be loud here since it's open air essentially and right on the street with outdoor seating. The rules are many: no smoking within 20 feet, no cards, no cash over $20-so many rules. This place changed hands a couple years ago and really went down in my opinion. Used to be about 8 dollars for two large delicious soft serves and I mean they were good! Last time I went there it was $12 the cones were about 50% smaller and they changed to a cheaper soft serve. It wasn't even good anymore. My two kids ordered "2 chocolate dipped cones" and when the worker replied "2 chocolate cones", they said yes. And out came the wrong cones, un-dipped, chocolate cones. The worker argued with my kids and said my kids ordered wrongly. I spoke to the manager over the phone who said imagine if we replace every wrong order cone for free, we will be losing money, our machine cost $60K, etc. This is simply crazy to me. We love having a place to go and grab some fancy ice cream with our daughter on Friday nights. Our favorite in town just closed down, so we came over here. We've been here before but never left impressed. Again, I'm looking at this menu but it's basically not quite as good as an ice cream truck or specialized handcrafted flavors like the fancier places... but costs like double. Unless you're getting a simple soft serve cone which starts at like $3, it'll cost close to $10 and it's kinda out of a run down place that looks as dirty as an ice cream truck. And nowhere to really eat except two tiny tables and cheap plastic benches. In terms of flavor and freshness, McDonald's has this place beat. My soft serve cone was stale.
