Always saw a decent Line at this dessert place so decided to give it a try! Looking at the menu, it Reminded me a lot like Dairy Queen! Soft serve ice cream, choice of vanilla or chocolate and can either get a cone, swirl, dipped or mixed in with different combinations of candies. Got their seasonal pumpkin pie with cheesecake bits and their butterfinger mixer. Both tasted really good! But the soft serves melted so fast. Thing to note, they only take cash!!
I just recently discovered Fosters and had it multiple times now and it always hits the spot! I got the cone and would recommend the mixed cone, as compared to just picking one flavor since you get the best of both worlds. They have a blizzard equivalent too with mix ins thats really popular and that's what I'm going to try next. They have a variety of desserts and there's plenty of parking. Service is also fast. BUT NO CARD READER. Cash only which is pretty lame imo. Had to borrow from my friend since I don't ever carry cash. I went to another location and they had a card reader so not sure why this one doesn't.
Came to Foster's Freeze on a weekday night and it wasn't too busy. I really wanted a junior size, but the smallest size they had was a small, which ended up being way too much for me. I think I only ate about a quarter of it before I was over it. I ordered the Worms and Dirt, which is basically cookies and cream with gummy worms on top. The gummy worms were good, but honestly I didn't love them with the cookies and cream. Texture was kinda like a blizzard vibe. It wasn't bad, just not a combination I would order again. I also tried some of my friend's Mud Pie, and that one was so good. The flavors worked way better together and I'd definitely order that instead next time.

When I crave a sundae, I usually make the drive to Torrance for Foster's Freeze. It doesn't matter if it's hot or cold, there is always a line here so you know it's popular. They have a designated lot in the back, and also street parking. I usually get their hot fudge sundae with peanuts & brownies, oreo mint twister, and mud pie twister (coffee & oreo flavored). The person taking the orders is the same person making the treats, so there is a wait. Nonetheless, the vanilla ice cream base is soo good! Cash only! They have 2 tables out front, so most people usually eat in the car.
One of the original Foster's Freeze locations. Been coming here since I was a child and still standing to this day. It's a walkthrough location, no drive-thru. Parking is normally fairly easy. Normally I'm parked in Old Torrance and while walking around, we'll stop by. Prices have gone up over the years, but what hasn't. You can't really go wrong with anything here, just depends on what you're craving. Service is fine, nothing amazing and not bad by any means Personal favorites are the soft-serve vanilla, soft serve chocolate dipped, sundaes, and the twisters. I think they discontinued the junior size twisters which used to be the perfect size for me, but the small is perfectly shareable. They're all perfect for dessert or for a nice day out walking in the neighborhood.
When looking for a family favorite desert... this place always makes the grade! Love the flavor. Torrance location has only vanilla but a million combos. Please patronize so we can keep it a live!

We used to come here after lunch for an ice cream. So it was cool to go back and see that nothings changed. Be advised : Cash only This was also the filing location of Charlie's Angels (2000). But they faked the drive thru, it's just a walk up Grab an ice cream, sit on the benches out front and watch the world go by.
They're cash only, not sure if this is location specific or for all their locations. I was kinda surprised with this especially when it's a chain. However, the sign price includes tax. I wish there was a junior size, I feel like the small is fairly large so we shared a small between two people. There's only one worker, so be patient and mindful when it gets busy. The Fosters Freeze here on Cravens Ave. in old Torrance was built in 1947. It was the 23rd stand built. There is parking out front on Cravens Ave & in a small lot behind this building. Enter and exit the drive very slowly or you'll most likely scrape the bottom of the front of your car. This is one of only four locations that uses the "ice cream in a cup" logo sign. Little Foster is the mascot's name and is a smiling ice cream cone - not the same as the aforementioned logo. There's a walk up window to place your order and two picnic tables to sit at. We usually take ours to the car. There's not usually too much interaction. A quick hello, placing and picking up our order. TIP: This is a CASH ONLY treat shop! Hubby & son really love Fosters Freeze! It's so-so for me because I'm not a fan of the yellowish ice cream. However, the flavor & texture is good. We visit this location once or twice a month. I most often get the smallest Twister which is a Junior size. I usually eat it in two sittings. I put the rest in the freezer until next time. Hubby gets a Chocolate Dipped Cone. Don't come here expecting to order hot food, they only sell ice cream at this location! The options are seemingly endless! There are so many advertising posters covering most all of the glass! We have tried quite a few different items, but have barely scratched the surface of the numerous frozen treats! Interesting Fact: Did you know that the founder, George Foster, bought the rights to Dairy Queen? Fosters Freeze was intended to be a Dairy Queen franchise. California's Dairy Industry had strict rules using the word dairy because Fosters ice cream product was actually ice milk, so he couldn't use the name. He went with Fosters Old Fashion Freeze. Another fun fact is that the Charlie's Angels (2000) movie starring Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, and Cameron Diaz was filmed here. We will continue to indulge in sweet treats from Fosters Freeze! Maybe we'll find a new favorite frozen delight!
A must after a day of eating if I am around the area. Cash only but there is a ATM right infront-I'm not sure what the processing fee is. Such a nostalgic place right in old torrance,you could easily grab something during the day and stroll around old torrance. A true gem! I always grab the chocolate dipped cone, so yummy. I have also tried their chocolate sundae which comes with nuts,also yum! They are also busy at any hour, evenlate at night there is a small crowd. Truly hope this place never closes as it makes the experience of getting ice cream so special.
This is one of my favorite dessert spots in old Torrance. The dipped ice cream cone is such a classic but they also have a wide selection of many other desserts. The ice cream comes out very fast (except that one time when they dropped the cone in the chocolate tub LOL). The workers are very friendly and personable and the vibes are great. Will be coming back every time I get dinner around the area. Just make sure to bring cash!

Fosters Freeze is a long-established institution serving up so many options of ice cream and frozen drinks. We came after dinner for a sweet pick-me-up: I opted for the classic dipped cone, which is vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate. The cone was your standard cake cone, nothing to write home about, but the dipped ice cream was yummy, if messy to eat. Service was bare-bones, not the friendliest, but efficient even with a line down the sidewalk. Glad I tried an old-school ice cream spot, local to LA! read more
It's been years since I had Foster's Freeze ice cream so after having, soba in old town Torrance for lunch, I made it a point to stop in a have a ice cream cone. It's cash only at this location and inflation has definitely taken its toll. For an ice cream cone the cost was $3.38 plus tax which I feel is reasonable compared to the newer modern ice cream shops. Service was prompt and there were a few outdoor tables to enjoy my dessert before it started to melt. Overall, I was happy to revisit Foster's Freeze. read more

This is a good spot whenever I have an ice cream craving. However be prepared because most of the time there is a very long line and normally only one person working. The girls is very good at helping everyone but sometimes it takes over 20 min depending on the time you go. Normally I get the chocolate dip but this time I tried the birthday cake. It really did taste like birthday cake. The chocolate dip is a classic though. The other locations I've been to all have regular cones with sprinkles and I wish this location did as well. There is outdoor seating a few picnic benches to sit at while you eat. read more

When those late night cravings hit you have to fulfill them. While being out with a group of friends we were craving a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate and this was the place to go! Old town Torrance is always a great place to walk around and just hang out. There is parking in the back and street parking as well. Make sure to bring cash cause that's all they take.. there is an ATM machine on the side for those who don't carry cash. As soon as we got our order more people showed up so it's def a popular place to go to. The service is pretty fast so you won't have to wait that long. There was only one person when we were there and she got the job done very efficient! read more

It's hard to top this quintessential Torrance frozen dessert shop. They have a great variety of ice creams, frozen beverages, mixed frozen desserts, and more. There's plenty of street parking, but very limited seating, as it is only a window to order and pickup at. Do note they only take cash; they have an atm on site. Their half and half cones always hit, sweet, creamy and refreshing. read more
my friend first introduced me to this ice cream place. And this is my new favorite local ice cream shop to go to. I believe it's cash only. But I love their malted shakes. When you see the menu, you can see that there's definitely a lot of options. I see other people ordering Sundays or ice cream in a cone. I didnt realize this was a chain. But I'm glad it's still in business decades later. I recommend coming here any time in the day. They seem to be around from brunch until evening. I didnt look closely at their business hours. But the nice asian ladies inside would whip up every order pretty quickly. This place is especially popular in the summer. read more

Tried their famous Twister treats and was happy to say that I have found another great ice cream joint to add to my favorites! We were surprised to see how small the shop was but even at 9:30pm, there were a lot of people lined up to get their sweet treats. You can tell it's a local favorite with great support. I got the Worms n' Dirt Twister and Oreo Twister. The junior size was more than enough for me, but it was nice to know you can upgrade all the way to a large! Hoping to come back to try their Brownie Twister or dipped cones! read more

Hubby has lived in California since 3 years old and he introduced me to this gem. Whenever I get a sweet tooth, it's always Fosters Freeze for vanilla dipped cone. Bring cash as they don't take cards, although there is an ATM. Service has always been friendly and fast. Definitely family oriented and great options to choose from. This little stand-alone structure is located right in the middle of old Torrance. It has a distinct charm and character that's definitely part of the fabric of this neighborhood. Was next door for lunch so it was a perfect stop afterwards on a warm sunny afternoon. There was a decent line, but it moved pretty quickly. The windows are plastered with photos of their menu options and seasonal specials. And let me tell you...there were a lot of options! I had a tough time deciding what to order because everything looked so tempting. I waffled between a caramel marble fudge parfait, a birthday dipped cone, a Reese's cup twister. I ultimately landed on the strawberry parfait and it was perfect. Sat and enjoyed the little afternoon treat at one of their two small picnic tables located our front. read more

Fosters freeze location located in an old building in old town, Torrance. It's got a a classic feel to this place. The folks running it are really nice. I'm such a huge fan of dipped cones. Usually I get the chocolate dipped cone, but during this visit, I got the birthday cake version. A fun change of pace. If you're a fan of their classic treats, this is a great location. read more
