Came in to catchup with a friend I hadn't seen in a few years. Walked in and was immediately greeted. We were able to grab a seat prior to HH but even as the evening progressed we were still able to converse across the table without having to raise our voices. The lights were dim which made a nice cozy environment. I ordered the Mini Spicy Tuna Wontons, which were ok, nothing special. The wonton chips were the highlight :~ My friend had the Baby Smash Cheeseburgers, customized to his preference and the Seven Cheese Macaroni, great cheese pull. We were able to converse with limited interruption from the wait staff which we appreciated immensely. Gomez provided excellent service and was always there when we needed. Disappointing & Misleading New Year's Day Brunch We went to Founding Farmers Reston Station for New Year's Day brunch after researching brunch options in advance. One of the main reasons we chose this restaurant was because their website advertises a brunch menu, which strongly implies that ordering off the menu is an option. However, once seated, we were told that the only option was a $35.99 per-person buffet -- no à la carte menu available at all. This was frustrating and misleading, especially since this information is not clearly stated on their website. Unfortunately, the food did not justify the price. Most items were bland and under-seasoned, and several dishes tasted off or poorly prepared: * Roast beef was rubbery * Asparagus was overly dry * Kale salad tasted like plain, undressed kale * Fried shrimp tasted off * Mac & cheese was oddly saltless * Even the sugary donuts were unappealing -- my son didn't eat them, which says a lot Overall, everything tasted flat and lacked the quality you'd expect at this price point. Service was polite, and our server was friendly. Our total bill came to around $180, and for what we received, it felt like a rip-off. Had we known in advance that the brunch was buffet-only -- and of this quality -- we would have chosen somewhere else. My son's milk was $4.99. Transparency matters. If brunch is buffet-only on holidays, that should be clearly stated online, especially when prices are this high. On top of everything, I tipped 20% on $180 for someone that brought me 2 drinks, as I got my own food from the buffet. WTF??? read more

I went there for breakfast with my girls, and it definitely didn't disappoint. I only ordered a blueberry pancake, but it was on a whole different level compared to places like IHOP. You can immediately taste the difference. The pancake wasn't overly sweet, which I personally prefer, and true to their word, they use fresh blueberries--not frozen. And yes, you can absolutely tell. As for the ambiance, the Reston location is lovely and noticeably less crowded than the one in Tysons. The service was great, and the coffee hit the spot too. read more

Came today for a relaxed brunch with a friend and our server Stanley was great! He was very attentive and even though we did the buffet, each time we came back to the table, he came and checked to see if we needed anything. It was a great experience. Food was so yummy, and the service was great. Mayory was so nice and helpful. Very attentive. She even surprised my fiancé with a birthday treat, it was so sweet. I had the buffet and my fiancé had the seafood risotto that was absolutely delicious. I was surprised that they were open for new years and that the buffet was having the full options as other times. Our friends got sandwiches that looked really yummy. One of my other friends did had to leave cause the options weren't very gluten friendly or vegan or halal options. Parking: there's a paid parking garage. It is connected to the metro station. However, the restaurant will validate the parking pass... so it is free! Seating: there is a ton of seating, indoors and outdoors! Inside has booths, nice and big. Food: it's know for their fried chicken and endless brunch (only on the weekends). Their food was yummy & good! Their donuts & pastries are popular too! Just a little overpriced... Bathroom: it's behind the bar! It's clean and dark. No paper towels. Price: personally, I think it's a little overpriced for the food, compared to other chicken & waffle places. Their portions are not that large. Our server Luke was so attentive and really explained how the brunch worked. We were not expecting for it to be a buffet only and were a little disappointed with that, but Luke did reassure us that the food would be just as good as normal al a carte service. I've been to this location several times and it is my favorite of the DC area Founding Farmers locations. (I've been to at least 3 of them). The seasonal menu and cocktails really hit the spot tonight (try the Pecan Old Fashioned!). Some of the food items are better than others - but the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and collards are wonderful! My husband had the catch of the day fish prepared Coriander style with risotto and seasonal veggies and enjoyed that as well Darryl was our server tonight and he was kind and professional and the perfect degree of attentive - always around when we needed something, but otherwise allowing us to have conversation and enjoy our meals. It is also worth mentioning that the environment is welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community - with bathrooms that allow you to choose based on the gender you identify with in Mind, Body or Spirit, which I greatly appreciate. And then, at least in the women's bathroom, all stalls are completely private to ensure that everyone feels comfortable. Overall, a pleasant dining experience and very good service! read more

First visit to a Founding Farmers Restaurant and it was really disappointing. I ordered the Ricotta Gnocchi Pomodoro expecting what the menu promised -- "handmade, delicate gnocchi tossed in a light pomodoro sauce with basil and creamy stracciatella." What I got looked like the gnocchi went swimming in a pool of orange oil and forgot to bring flavor. The sauce had completely separated -- watery on top, thick underneath -- and somehow managed to be both greasy and incredibly bland at the same time. No bright tomato flavor, no creamy finish, just... confusion. It's a shame, because the description made it sound wonderful. Instead, it was an almost inedible wet oily mess. If this is their take on a fairly basic pasta dish then I'm not willing to potentially waste more money here on anything else. Not that it makes up for the food but the service and ambiance were decent. Unfortunately not decent enough to counter the disappointment of the overall experience. read more

I met a dear friend here for an early dinner. There is tons of atmosphere at the Reston Station. It has to be seen to be believed. It's kind of Sci Fi. We started with their iron skillet corn bread with whipped butter. They put whole kernels of corn in it. Yummy. I had the Blue Cheese Steak Salad. It comes with a dipping sauce for the steak and a vinaigrette for the salad which also contains diced Granny Smith apples. Very good. For desert we had handmade candy bars with milk chocolate and almonds. They make the chocolate at their Tysons location where there is a choclateer on staff. read more

We have been to this location a couple of times and food is always decent. Most recently we went for Christmas. We had the dinner buffet and overall it is good. I am not generally a big fan of a buffet but there are so many options and all are super good choices. We have been here before and have ordered off a regular menu as well as a prix fix menu for a holiday. Some of their recipes are top notch. They do sell a cookbook. Their Mac and cheese that my daughter loves is in the cookbook and she loves when we make it at home. I personally love their mashed potatoes and wish their recipie was included in the cookbook. Service is okay this past time but nothing spectacular as it was a buffet. Cappuccino is top notch at the end of the meal. Make sure you order one! read more

After 10 minutes Asked waiter for HH specials. 10 min later comes back asks what we want to drink and I reminded him he was checking on specials and he said "oh yeah". Had to wait again. We visited this location for New Year's Eve. Good news we were able to get a reservation. We have visited before and had both hits and misses. So our expectations were neutral. First with all the construction it's not easy finding the right parking lot to enter so be careful and remember to get your ticket validated before u leave. We arrived on time and within minutes were seated. We asked for a booth and passed 3-4 that were ready for sitting (no reserved sign) and parked at the back. We have been there before and its dark so next time we will request being seated in the main restaurant. Daniel was sour server and attentive. For main course we had the Shrimp and Crab Risotto . Overpriced as only 4-5 shrimps and numerous mushrooms. Add peas, carrots etc. Overall good but overpriced. I had the chicken pot pie which was really good. We were in 2 minds for dessert and decided on the apple cranberry pie with ice cream.
