The fish tacos are amazing! The fish tastes amazing with the spicy mayo, avocado, mango salsa, and pickles onions. It comes with yucca fries that taste just as good and are seasoned perfectly. The sandwiches and salads are probably the cheapest on the menu (around 15 dollars if I remember correctly). The seafood and steak are pretty pricey, but I understand that seafood is expensive. I have always wanted to try the scallops but don't wanna pay almost 30 dollars when I may only get a few scallops :(. Another reason why I am not giving it 5 stars is that they don't allow a table to split up the check. Sometimes when I go out with my friends, we would like to just pay for what we got. Had dinner with 5 friends tonight. We had great service from the wait staff. The apps were great, calamari light and fresh and the the truffle tots delicious. The dinners were just as good, fried clam roll, were the standard, the fish tacos fresh and tasty but the Thai curry bowl was absolutely delicious. Everyone raved about that dish. The manager stopped by the table to check in with us and we even met the owners. Such a nice place with great food and a great staff. Win Win read more

Upon the recommendation of a close colleague at my work, my husband, his friend, and I ate at the Foundry last week. I ordered a cheeseburger---quite possibly the best one I've had in years. This is the second time I have been to the foundry. Once for lunch and once for dinner. The food is just amazing. I am a little sad about their fall hours though as my girlsfriends and I tried to have lunch there this week but they only open at 4:30 during the fall. Just left after having an excellent light dinner. Service is available both inside and on the outside covered back deck which overlooks the river. Excellent service, good food nicely priced and with some soft entertainment inside. Would have given it 5 stars but nobody is perfect. read more

Pork chop is great. Menu has some gems. Love the variation between the bar area, the inside tabes, and the outside deck overlooking the flowing brook below. Just wonderful. A friend and I went for brunch and sat out on the deck. I'm so glad that this space is finally being used to its full potential. Looking out over the water is so relaxing. I ordered an open faced omelette with veggies and goat cheese. It was delicious! The perfect amount of creamy goat cheese spread through the eggs paired with seasonal veggies! I often see bottomless mimosas offered at other restaurants, but foundry had several drink specials at $3.00 per glass. I thought that was great because I will only have one or 2 drinks. The service was fantastic. We didn't order right away so we could enjoy our drinks and the view. Our server checked with us but didn't bug us, like, hurry up and order. We were driving through CT and stopped in here for a bite to eat. The place is very quaint with a nice atmosphere. We sat ouside on the deck that overlooked a small stream. We got the duck benedict and the curry chicken wrap, which were pretty good. Definately upgrade to the yucca fries, delicious! With the purchase of an entree, you could get a mimosa or a bloody mary for only $3. I tried the bacon bloody mary. Its a good deal, but the drink wasn't anything special. The bacon rim was just powdered bacon bits from a can, and it lacked any spice. Overall, I would come here again. read more

We sat in the tavern, and even though i wouldn't say it's a criticism, but with the live music, it get's loud. But we asked them to move us upstairs, and it was beautiful, warm and so pretty. We had appetizers, dinners, and dessert. I had the seared pretzel crusted tuna with kimchee aioli. My husband had the Lamb meatballs with tomato confit and mint ricotta. The lamb was from a local farm. Both appetizers we really loved. For dinner we split(so we had room for dessert) the eggplant stuffed with smoked artichoke and it was great. For dessert, we split the Bananas Foster Split. Then we ordered another one it was so good. Our server was so friendly and even though we didn't order drinks(we don't drink much) we were treated really well. Sometimes when we go out we don't get great service it seems like as soon as the server sees we are not drinking. read more

We had a meal at The Foundry and it was bad, the service was slow and the price was high. It saddens us to give a bad review for a restaurant in our town but we unfortunately will never go back. I'm giving 1 star ONLY because the food was good. This was one of the most bizarre experiences I've ever experienced at a restaurant! Our server was switched 3 times, which is understandable if they had to leave but they were all still serving other people the rest of the night which made us think something was wrong with our table. It took FOREVER to get a server to get our dinner orders, to the point where we all thought we had already ordered. Same goes for our drinks, where we were all limited to 2 since it took that long to get another in the span of 3 and half hours. But what was the icing on the cake was our last server who was switched right when we were about pay. She for some reason had the most difficult time cashing us out. We specifically told her a charge on the card and the rest was the cash. Not only did she charge the card incorrectly but then she seemed as if she wanted us to tip her more. We already included a 20% tip in the cash and she was just not getting it. We had to discuss 3 times the check to the point that she went to her manager and had them include gratuity because she got nervous we weren't tipping. That itself was a slap in a face for a party of 8 people who ALREADY gave you the money with tip included (which came out to be the same total amount you decided to put on the check!) When she came back to tell us this, we made her count the cash to try to get on the same page where she stops to tell us she's tired. Half of us at this table have served in restaurants and bars which can be why we were so upset with the lack of service in all ends of the night. If this was getting to be this much of a problem, the manager that was alerted on the gratuity should have addressed our table. We decided to give this place another chance last night since the last mishap where a server served my (at the time) 7 month pregnant sister in law alcohol. But it's clear to say this is not a place we will be coming back to after last night's experience unfortunately. read more

Comfortable atmosphere; the outside seating in the warmer weather is fabulous. The food is quite good (not great... can be overly fussy or complicated) and fairly priced. First visit to this new Sandy Hook restaurant was impressive. The food was impeccable. A little pricey, but worth the visit. We had the tuna tartare appetizer, which was fantastic. The octopus served with white beans and "prosciutto dust" was out of this world. It was the most tender octopus I've ever tried. The middle eastern salad was really good. The hummus on it was so creamy and smooth I would definitely try the hummus appetizer next time. My fiancé had the fettuccine with crawfish, which he proclaimed was better than lobster. We cleaned our plates and enjoyed a nice glass of wine. We must have had a new waitress who was not too up on the menu. The back of the menu lists wines by the glass and half bottle. We asked for the complete list (we wanted a bottle) and she brought us a copy of the exact same menu we had. It was funny. In fact though, the half bottle are pretty highly priced ($35-50), while the glasses were $7-10. We both ordered a glass of Malbec, which came generously poured. We will definitely be back to try some more of the deliciously creative dishes on the menu at foundry and recommend it to anyone in the area. read more

Came to Foundry this past Saturday night for a friends birthday. After looking at the menu and having reservations for about 2 weeks we were all very excited. Not to mention we all hadn't seen each other in months. So naturally, with the occasion and being about to finally get together we were all very happy and talkative. 2 ladies from our group had to cancel last minute so our reservation went from 7 to 5. After sitting at our table for a few minutes a manager came over and asked if it would be ok if we would move so that they could seat another large party at that table. She said that some tables were finishing up dessert so we could have a table in about 15-20 minutes (when we were already sitting at our reserved table). Ok, we didn't mind and we were accommodating and we waited for another table. While we were waiting we each ordered a drink. We also noticed that the table was not used for another large party, the had separated the tables and seated other parties there. After awhile a table was ready for us. And it was a table in the bar area right in front of the performer for the night. So we went from our nice quiet area where we could catch up with one another to a table where we had to scream to speak to the person next to you. Anyways, we ordered some appetizers and then ordered our food. After getting our meals we wanted to order another round. This was TWO HOURS after we ordered our first drink. No exaggeration, two hours. Our server took our orders and then a few minutes later, a different manager came over to inform us that we wouldn't be served any alcohol. The restaurant apparently felt that when we had come in we were too drunk. So moral of the story is if you like to enjoy your friends and laugh and make jokes and celebrate a close friends birthday, do not come to this restaurant. Fun is not allowed, they will think you are too drunk. I wish I could give zero stars, but I was forced to put one. None of us will be coming back, which is a shame because the food was delicious but the hospitality was bad enough to keep us away. read more

A few friends and I went to the Foundry on Saturday and what an awful experience from start to end. The hostess and waitress were rude when we arrived outside. I told them we had 6 people coming, and that we would be staying to the live music, they told us that's fine, but we needed the table by 8....ok so we're being given an hour to eat?? Waters were not brought to the table, the burger was under cooked, and not flavorful at all, and especially for $15.00??? Two of our friends hadn't arrived yet, so another waitress came by and asked when they were coming because they needed our second table. Just horrible and sad experience. I have enjoyed the Foundry Kitchen & Tavern as one of my favorite restaurants for several years now. The food is always excellent, menu is creative and service is friendly. Last night we ordered their curbside to go meals and despite all the craziness in the world right now they managed to still pull off an incredible meal. I had the fatoush salad with chicken (always a favorite) and my fiancee had the brisket sandwich with truffle fries, which he rate 10/10. This place is a gem and I look forward to sitting in their restaurant enjoying a craft cocktail and exceptional meal with this is all over. Furthermore, when I had to pick a venue for my bridal shower I immediately thought of their upstairs loft. I couldn't wait to gather with friends and family for an amazing brunch and celebrate my upcoming nuptials. Unfortunately, that day was postponed due to the pandemic. I know that the day will still happen, just not on the date I had planned. And I hope to gather at this wonderful location to do so. I was a fan of the Foundry until my experience this past weekend. Not only did they move us around three times, we were then seated next to the musician. Foundry's bar area has always been on the louder side, which usually does not bother me at all. However, with live music being directly behind us, my friends and I had to accommodate ourselves by speaking a bit on the louder side. With that being said, apparently by doing so gives off the impression of having too much to drink. Considering we only had one drink in the two hours of being there, us talking loudly was clearly due to the environment in which we were sat in, not the one drink we each had. As someone who has worked in the restaurant business for 10 years, the management's behavior was completely out of line and unnecessary. Being moved three times to accommodate their needs was the first straw, refusing drink service to us after one round was the second straw, and the third straw (which broke the camels back) was finding a HAIR in my grilled cheese (which was wrapped up to go, along with the rest of the meals because we no longer felt welcomed). My friends and I will not only never return to this establishment but will certainly never recommend it. Thank you Foundry for taking a happy birthday celebration and completely ruining it. read more

The outdoor patio overlooking the little stream was so charming. We went for lunch on a beautiful day and found that it's a really nice outdoor spot. Wait staff was excellent and really knowledgeable. Drink selection was great-lots of great specials. Food was ok. Not bad, just nothing that caught our attention. Burrata nest salad was plain. The chicken picatta was good but not in a typical picatta sauce. Will return to check out the dinner menu. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for a long time and knowing that it had recently come under new ownership was anxious about whether the meal would live up to its previous standards. Lucky for us we were once again impressed and my family was very pleased with the attentiveness of the staff and all of our entrees. We came to check out Foundry based upon the menu & Yelp reviews, and we were not disappointed! The service was fantastic, both the manager and bartender made sure we were happy and satisfied. The deviled egg appetizer was delicious, a hint of mustard and a creamy filling with super crispy bacon just melts in your mouth. The pretzel crusted tuna far exceeded expectations. We each had a special, the ribeye was cooked to perfection. This cut of meat is typically very fatty, but this was better than expected. Our server was great with his recommendations. Loved the atmosphere, tin ceilings add authenticity. Everyone will have an opinion, but for us the music was soft and entertaining.
