One of my close friends and I used to come here every week for happy hour. Over the years, though, we had heard that the place had gone downhill, so on a whim, my husband and I decided to give it a try. It was very quiet, with only two other customers there, but from the moment we took our seats, we were glad we came. The menu was expansive, and since it was Taco Tuesday, there were several taco options to choose from. The bartender was great and did an excellent job with everything we ordered. Out of everything we tried, the nachos and Long Island iced tea were my favorites. We will definitely be back. I'm glad I didn't let the passing years and less-than-great reviews keep me from trying this place again. read more

I attended a celebration at Fountainside. Its located inside of the Doubletree Hotel. The set up is great and plenty of tables with a bar. On this night they had a game activity going on as well. There was music and bar with seats. I wouldnt recommend this place if you do not have patience when there is a function or large crowd. I originally sat at a table with a couple of people, orders were placed for food that took about an hour plus. However, I ordered a salad and calamari and unfortunately with 2 hours being there I never received my food. I went to the bar and ordered 2 drinks and they too took about 45 minutes to an hour to receive. On the bright side I enjoyed the environment and the drinks were good. I just wouldnt recommend coming possibly on a day where a function is going on. read more

This was my second visit to Fountainside. It's a clean restaurant inside of the hotel. I went on a rainy Tuesday so it wasn't very crowded with a couple movies on the tv. I decided to pay them another visit after seeing a foodie post them on instagram talking about new management. Everything looked so good on their post. But I was a bit underwhelmed with my service and food. I ordered the blackened chicken pasta, it was listed as one of their best sellers. The flavor was great and the chicken was seasoned well but the sauce started breaking and separating as I was eating leaving me with a lot of oil in my dish. My boyfriend ordered the Cobb salad and his avocado was a bit mushy and brown. The soup of the day was a chicken and dumpling soup; it was pretty good. Maybe another visit for happy hour would prove to be better. They have some good specials for happy hour. read more

A hidden gem that needs more attention! The thai chili wings were bomb. The pasta was delicious, cavatappi with grilled salmon. The fried deviled eggs with crab meat was one for the books. The drinks were made good, try the margarita flight. Customer service was okay, there was a big party while I was there so it took away a lot of attention. The dessert was one of my favorites and plenty of parking since it shares space with the hotel. read more

Food took over an hour to come, service was incredibly slow and staff never came over to check on us when food was delivered. Finishing off my meal on a Monday night here. I made the mistake of checking the reviews before ordering and seriously hesitated about ordering the salmon given the poor reviews of this place and just how badly bad salmon can go... but, most reviews are over a year old and I figured it was worth a shot. I'm pleasantly surprised! The restaurant itself is very spacious and seems very newly renovated- lots of windows and open space. The bar (my choice) is a very large half-circle with nicely cushioned chairs and a view of the three TVs from any seat with a comfortable about of space between each seat. Music is nice and not overly loud. As I would expect, it's nearly empty on this winter Monday night. The bartender is friendly and attentive- he actually called out to invite me to dine while I was checking in at the front desk, which was nice. Back to the salmon: I ordered a Caesar salad with add-on salmon instead of the standalone salmon entree- just in case things went south and I needed a backup plan. The salmon was great- nicely seasoned (cajuny) and most importantly not overcooked! It was moist but not so moist that I'd be nervous eating it on a Monday night at a hotel restaurant. The salad was just fine- they served the dressing on the side which was considerate as it's quite heavy. Plentiful croutons in case you need some munchies for upstairs. Breakfast buffet- NO live omelet or waffle station on this weekend buffet breakfast but still charged $17.95pp. Also, due to an event in the hotel they truncated the menu to one dinner menu for the ENTIRE weekend (so 3 lunches and 3 dinners were the exact same small and pricey menu with just 3 entrees, some apps, and 2 salads. It made eating healthfully nearly impossible. This is a what could be a hidden gem in the area but the service is absolutely terrible. Doors open at 5pm and already they tell you what stuff they dont have. The happy hour menu has cocktails and food that are actually priced differently. But even worse than that is the bartender, Tessa. She is the worst. Totally ignored the order of ppl entering and making sure the regulars are taken care of. Slow. My group all order... after being asked multiple times what we ordered. Their food finally came. She gives my food to someone on the other side of the bar. Fifteen minutes later, she admits that she did. Put my order in. But then acts like I'm mean and rude that my entire is eating and I'm sitting there looking crazy. Charged another friend without giving her an itemized list of what she orderd. Another guest waited even longer for her food and drink. Took me an hour to get my bill and still had an attitude. I don't eat in many hotel restaurants but a business partner persuaded me to try these folks for dinner last Thursday night. This is a large contemporary restaurant with an adjoining bar. It has a clean open feel. As this is a hotel restaurant you'll find diners in all kinds of dress but the atmosphere feels like fine dining. Our server for the evening was Bobby and he was quite simply amazing. He was a 14 year veteran and it showed. We enjoyed five star service from beginning to end. If you visit I suggest you ask for him. I ordered the Filet Mignon. It was char grilled prime tenderloin served with Blackberry demi-glace, Yukon gold mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli for $34.95. I asked if they could substitute sautéed spinach and that was no problem. It was served in a reasonable time and the steak was perfect. It was tender and juicy and cooked exactly to order. The hint of blackberry in the demi-glace was a great addition. The potatoes were fine and the sautéed spinach was garlicky deliciousness. I would have been happy with this meal in a steak house. In a hotel restaurant it far exceeded my expectations. My business partner ordered Lemon Dill Salmon for $21.95 and pronounced it excellent. We had adult libations with our meal and they were not exorbitantly priced as some hotels like to do. If I was in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to visit again. I was happy to find a nice size bar in a quiet spot. The ladies that were working the bar on my visit really knew how to shake a drink. The service here is non-existent. If Mika is not working, don't bother coming in. If you even get your food it will most likely be the wrong thing. Soda that is flat, but yet they want to double charge you for it after taking one sip just to realize it isn't good. I feel really bad for writing this review, but I have to let you know the truth. I came here for dinner recently. When you first walk in, I think you can say, this is a nice restaurant to be in a hotel, but right after that thought, you realize it's still a hotel restaurant and its not that great. At the time, it seemed like a happy hour was going on, which had a nice feel to it. I came for dinner though. The dining room was empty. You can't really trust a place that is empty on a friday night. The waitress was nice, but not very attentive. I ordered the lobster bisque, which was good...the chicken (okay)...and some cheesecake (okay). I guess I would rate the food only maybe an 8...more like a 7. I really just think the atmosphere was off. I felt out of place here...like I was doing something wrong. I know thats weird to say, but its like you walk in, you see this place is whack, but you stay anyways (even though you know the truth). Maybe I'm the only one who has experienced this feeling. Wife and I decided to try something new and we came across the lounge Fountainside at the Double Tree. I must say, the meal was delicious. Took a chance on the Ribeye Steak, and was thoroughly impressed. The wife enjoyed the Pasta Fresca. The calamari as the appetizer was more than enough. Service can use a little managerial direction and motivation, but the food fortunately for them masked the lack of attention received, which garnered the 4star rating. Compliments to the Chef!! For the meal we do plan on returning. If the service was to improve we might bring friends. read more

Not impressed. At all. Went to have some food after a long day of flying but didn't want to go out into the rain, so we just went down to the bar/restaurant. There were two of us, and we both ordered the french onion soup as an appetizer, and then I ordered the Salmon BLT and she ordered a salad for dinner. The soup didn't come out for a good 20 minutes, which came out with the salad as well. 10 minutes later my salmon showed up. There was hardly any sauce on the sandwich, and when I asked for more, the server did not know what that was. The woman with me had the salad and asked for the herb vinaigrette. The server didn't inform us that they were out of the dressing until after the woman I was with brought to attention that it was not the dressing she had at a previous visit. My seared salmon came out well done and had absolutely no spices on it. The veggies that I ordered with it was bland and mushy. The service was just as bad at the food. We had to ask have waters refilled and had to find the server to ask for our bill. I'm not sure if she was new and management has not trained her properly or what, but I will not be dining her for the rest of my visit, or any future visits for that matter. read more

Poor service. The food was edible, the coffee decent, but wow. I think that the waitress was angry at the world., After sitting there for a good 20 minutes, she sashayed by, took our orders, brought out our food (for those of us eating) and then vanished until it was check time. It was so bad that the hostess kept trying to get us to tell her how bad the waitress was (I guess so she could lay some verbal wood on her). We didn't bite. This restaurant is connected to a lower-end Hilton, and the food is sort of as expected. It reminds me of Las Vegas buffet food except at restaurant prices. For dinner I tried the most expensive thing on the menu (filet Mignon), ordered medium-rare, and it came medium and burned (pure charcoal) on the outside. It was also really hard to cut through, and very chewy. How can they mess up something so simple? It also came with some thin carrots and asparagus which were both completely tasteless, and the carrots were undercooked. The mashed potatoes were in a ball straight from the ice cream scoop like in a high school cafeteria. They did plate it nicely, but the whole thing just wasn't worth the $35. I also tried the spinach salad, which was pretty good (hard to mess up a salad), but the different elements were in separate piles on the plate instead of mixed in. I'm still not sure if it was an attempt at "deconstruction," or a lazy salad maker. Based on my server, I'm thinking probably the latter. On the other hand, they have a connected bar / lounge which has a nice modern feel and very attentive staff. It seems popular with the locals. I tried chicken sliders (from the same kitchen of course) and they were surprisingly good. Maybe Fountainside is best as a good bar kitchen, and not so much a destination restaurant. read more

Second night here of a five day business trip. We are staying at the hotel. I do not know what these other review people are talking about on here, I have been eating dinner at the Fountainside for the past two nights and the food has been fabulous. Last night I had the crab soup which was awesome with fresh lump crab meat on top in a great red sauce! Then for my entree I had a seafood medley in a red sauce and it had every seafood you could ever want and plenty of it. Big meaty shrimp, scallops, clams, muscles and calamari! Just fabulous! For desert I had the homemade chocolate cookie sandwich with vanilla ice cream which was bangin! Tonite I had the teriyaki ribs for my appetizer which were tender and the sauce is to die for. Then I had the roast chicken which was good with crunchy string beans and really awesome pile of mashed potatoes! For desert I had fresh berries with whipped cream. The service has been excellent both nights. Kept our water glasses filled and our food has been cooked perfect and always hot! My sincere compliments to the chef. I hope this hotel doesn't lose this excellent chef! Whoever he or she is, my hat goes off to you! read more

I have stayed for 10 business trips at the Doubletree connected to this restaurant in the past 2 months. Fountainside has their issues. $15 is pretty overpriced for a breakfast buffet. Most of the steaks are upwards of $40, which I would expect from an Outback Steakhouse. Hate to break the news, but FountainSide is not Outback. The prices need to be revised; otherwise, it will continue to be an empty dining room. Servers were good, but usually they restaurant runs out of soup, salad and pasta. As slow as it is, you have to wonder who is doing the food orders for this place. I would not recommend to business travelers, especially if you are working with a $50-75 meal allowance. I would recommend Mari Luna if you like Mexican. There are plenty of other options like Outback, TGI Fridays, Famous Dave's locally. You get better value for your money. read more

Talk about a horrible experience, this place has really gone down hill. My friends and I use to frequent this place for brunch many times and we're genuinely disappointed when we heard they were closing down the brunch but delighted to hear it was back open. I don't know who made the decision to change things around but it was a bad one. It would be nice to know upfront that this is no longer a bottomless brunch as previous years but now there advertised "champagne brunch" only includes 1. I feel completely ripped off to pay the same $32 for a buffet as before and my drinks are not included. Why even advertise it if you have to pay way more. $6 per mimosa or you can just buy a bottle at $20 was what was recommended by the wait staff. I could barely get my water refilled as there was only 1 waitress working 12 tables and 3 people who i can only assume to be some type of manager helping out here and there and fewer in between and when i did get a soda was bought out a can! This place is no where how it use to be. I doubt I'll be returning if it continues like this. read more

This is my 3 brunch visit first 2 great the last really bad. I wanted a plain bagel to go with very good smoked salmon, cream cheese, etc. They only had raisin and when I asked for plain got a look from Joe like I wanted the world and never did get it. Tried the croissant hard as a brick, finally just settled for white bread. Snow crabs were old and cold not freshly cooked with way to much old bay (should forget the old bay). I was very disappointed tonight and the place did not meet our expectations at all. Though the restaurant seemed nice and clean, and the waitress was great and very attentive, we had to wait 20-25 minutes for the soup and then 20 more for the main entrees. Soup was ok, reminded me of a canned progresso soup though, the main entree was trout with asparagus and risotto, I could only finish asparagus, the rest of the food was overcooked, and hardly edible. My husband ate his Marsala chicken but mentioned that the inexpensive dinner at Panera bread would probably be more delicious. I do not want to sound too critical , but this was the worst restaurant experience through the whole year and we dine out a lot. read more
