I ordered a large dish of ice cream, twice the server asked "small"? I paid $7.25 and let the server keep the rest of the $10.00 because i wanted to show support for a small business that is important to the community. It's not the price of the ice cream that bothered me. the cost is probably in line with all other products being served/ sold on the Cape during this season. What fried my backside was receiving a small dish of ice cream that was probably no more than 2 & a half Dixie cups worth of ice cream for my trouble. There are way more important things than kvetching over the size of an ice cream in this day & age, so i kept my mouth shuttook my ice cream back to my car and enjoyed what little there was of it. The ice cream was good, but i'll patronize another ice cream shop that has a less storied history and is hungrier for business when i go back to the area later this summer. My wife suggested Four Seas rename their product "virtual ice cream", as there is "virtually nothing" in the dish or cone that they serve you. read more

I know the locals rant and rave about this ice cream- so we had to stop and try. Not really a fan. The chocolate chip cookie dough I got, tasted so much like frosting it was kind of gaggy, also the employees serving you were not the friendliest. They pretty much just scream out to the crowd "whose next" instead of just addressing the next person in line. You also can't get two flavors- like I wanted a scoop of choc chip cookie dough and vanilla and that was not allowed. It is really the best ice cream ever on Cape Cod. It has held its charm for years located in a quaint village and only open in the summer. It employs local high school kids and still uses old style cash register, no credit cards, and the kids appreciate tips. The black raspberry, mocha chip, mint chip are all great. But the best, in my opinion, is the peppermint stick with hot fudge and marshmallow. You can also take home a quart or two and some hot fudge topping also! There is an ATM in the parking lot too. My son was speed dialing this place the minute we got off the plane in Boston! I was wondering who he was calling, not his friends, but Four Seas!!! By the time we got to the Cape, they were closed, it IS off season, but the next day it was all we could do to get there fast enough! BUT, Horrors! They only sell quarts this early in the year :( Too bad, we were so disappointed, but went home with quarts of deliciousness instead! I have been going here since I was a small child, and have never been disappointed, and everyone we have ever brought has become a huge fan! Four Seas has some of the best ice cream I've had - super creamy and served at a temperature that is between hard packed and soft serve. It's definitely ice cream but it's just melty enough. Great flavors - in two visits we tried banana, vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and mocha chip, and their peanut butter sauce (addictive) and hot fudge (rich and delish). The servings are well sized but not ginormous. The only drawback is that it's tiny and there is no outside seating. Both times we went, it was raining and we were lucky that it was during off hours and so we got a seat. A bit better than Smitty's but Smitty's wins for the great outside seating if you need to let your kids run off all the sugar. Always on the lookout for outstanding ice cream in my travels. Research showed this one on our route for New England road-trip. Many awards over the years had my hopes sky high. But it was ultimately a disappointment. Recently reopened for '22 season. Small shack I called ramshackle upon arrival that had little curb appeal unless you were looking for it. Entered to find a wall of poorly written, and confusing hand done signs. Along with menu boards sourced probably sometime in the '60's. Unattractive. Along with the ice cream they have some lunch items including the unique cream cheese/olive sandwich and the cream cheese/date/nut sandwich. Also non-dairy frozen treats I think are produced by a different company. Many of the signs advertise sundae combos of different varieties. Fun that they list a regular size and a diet size which I can only assume is smaller. Another very noticeable aspect upon entry was the dead silence. Like a library. Even just some quiet background music would bring up the level of buzz when you arrive. Maybe that comes after they are busier in summer. Two young people behind the counter while we made our choices. The young lady who approached us was, I believe, very new here and possibly working at her first gig. Quite timid and quiet. We were patient as she went over the options for sizes, prices, and how served(cup, cone, etc) multiple times. The other young man seemed to busy doing something besides helping the young lady. I chose the peppermint stick one scoop in a cup and wife chose butter crunch which is similar to a butter pecan but no nuts. She chose child size which was perfect for her and seemed a decent portion. This was pretty tasty with a nice smooth flavor with a nicely done caramel ribbon. She enjoyed this. My peppermint stick was unfortunately light on peppermint flavor with candy chunks meant to be crunchy but were really mushy and flavorless. The one scoop portion was very generous but didn't finish it as it was such a disappointment. Though I left unsatisfied, I'd stop again to try a different flavor later in the season-knowing what to expect-with hopes of a better experience. read more

Cute little ice cream place. I had been wanting to go here for years, but just never stopped. The atmosphere and history is awesome. We went there after Labor Day in September and they were only scooping 12 flavors out of over 24 they have. They rotate the 12 different flavors they scoop between Labor Day and Columbus Day. This was disappointing. There was also construction going on inside, which took away from the atmosphere too. They were not serving food or drinks either. We had cookie dough and mocha chip ice cream. The cookie dough lacked a lot of cookie dough pieces, but had good solid flavor. The mocha chip was excellent. Overall, the experience was not that wonderful, mainly because it was after Labor Day. I understand that business slows down after Labor Day, but for the customers that do go, it is a disappointment. You'll read many reviews about their ice cream here but I want to make sure you know about one of my favorites - not ice cream - but the lobster salad sandwich. Lobster has to be my favorite food of all time. I typically only like it steamed/boiled with butter on the side. Simple is best for me. However, the lobster salad sandwich at 4 Seas is a great lunch. It is a simple preparation, lobster (a full pound of meat!) with mayo on white sandwich bread served with chips. Simple but tasty. It is not inexpensive ($15 last I checked) but it is worth it. The best ice cream hands down, admittedly I am influenced by nostalgia, but the ice cream is legit! I like the friendly kids that work there, much better than adults with attitudes. Yea it's pricey but how often do you go out for ice cream really? I don't very often but when I do there is literally no competition, 4Cs baby!!!! Peanut butter chocolate chip, mocha chip, coconut are some of the best flavors I enjoy. Hot fudge sauce is insanely good. Location is a slam dunk as well. Can't say enough good things. Four Seas has always been a delicious stop for me every time I am on the Cape. They offer a wide variety of flavors. In fact there are so many, it's hard to choose what to select. I recommend getting a cup, because as much as I love a cone, I feel like in the heat I end up with a mess. On my most recent visit, I got the peppermint stick, which was full of minty delicious candy and creamy goodness. Four Seas is located in the perfect place. They pull in tons of business from beach-goers leaving Craigville Beach. They do not accept credit cards. However, there is an ATM next to their building. Great little ice cream shop serving the Cape Cod region, and I went during the weekdays, it was pretty crowded, the parking lot was packed and the line was out the door, so we knew we had to stop by and try this place out. They have so many different flavors to try. I got the coconut flavor and a Coke Float with chocolate ice cream. The sodas are old fashioned sodas, so they taste smooth and creamy with the ice cream. Prices are reasonable, and you do get what you pay for. It's made fresh, they do the works in front of you, and the place has an authentic ice cream parlor feel and vibe to it. The teenagers who work there also know what they're doing, but it doesn't bother to smile once in a while, I get that you're busy but a smile go a long way in this business. Four Seas is a 2 minute drive from my house & I still never go despite that I always loved it as a kid. I stopped in with my boyfriend who has previously told me he has never been able to tell the different between ice cream from a real ice cream place & ice cream from a tub out of the frozen food section at the grocery store. Always used to go there when I was a kid! Just went back for some sweet treat and wasn't how I remembered it:(. The ice cream is overpriced, with a medium being only one scoop of ice cream. Some of the flavors on the menu were not even being served when I was there and by the time they handed you your cone there was dripping ice cream all the way down to your elbow!
