Katie was our waitress,and she aimed to please from the wine tasting to make sure we like our choices from the wine list We both selected the fish taco with pineapple salsa with a very nice dressing The unique potato chip fried fish was so fresh We opt for the garlic bread to go with our wine and that too had its special flare I know we both said this is a first but not our last trip to enjoy the food ,service and ambience . We came here because of the great reviews and sat at the bar, but we were pretty disappointed. The bluefish pate itself was good, but rather on the salty side, so serving it with salt and vinegar chips made it pretty much inedibly salty (this was taken off the bill when the bartender noticed we didn't eat more than one bite each). My first glass of vinho verde wine was served at room temperature (the second was fine), and the side plate I was given was crusted with dried food residue. I also watched an employee behind the bar wipe her nose with her hand and then continue slicing citrus barehanded. The chicken empanadas were good but not particularly special. We also had one of the small pizzas, which was the best thing of the night, crispy and flavorful (with a little char at the edges, which we like). The decor is a little bananas (different shades of green between the walls, the napkins, the barstools, and the banquettes; five kinds of lighting fixtures; lots of sound and lighting items with exposed, hasty-looking wiring). The bathroom door doesn't really close and lock properly. And the restaurant is really loud, even half full. The writing on the menu, about family members and special recipes, tells me that there's pride here and real care about making a good restaurant. However, without the attention to detail (particularly cleanliness and hygiene!), that's kind of moot. Three stars instead of two here because the pizza was good and the staff obviously care about customers. read more

Tried the newest restaurant on Main Street in Hyannis and loved the food! Server was very attentive and helpful. Interior decor is delightful with an ocean charm. We started with the steamed local littlenecks, served Portuguese style with linguica, Vinho Verde, pimenta molda, white beans, served with grilled bread. It was fantastic! I ordered the Fish Sandwich Potato chip crusted Cod, fried and served on a butter-toasted roll with American cheese, shredded lettuce, and house made tartar sauce. Perhaps the best fish sandwich I have ever eaten! And, the french fries were crispy and delicately salted - also some of the best I've had. We enjoyed the Wood Grilled Caesar salad too. Romaine hearts grilled over apple wood, crispy bacon bits, micro- planed parmesan, fried shallots, house Caesar dressing. It was very good! Only nit- the bacon bits were so crispy I thought I might chip a tooth (didn't happen). Will definitely return! read more

For great seafood and local down to earth service, there's no better place than the Cove. Lots of seating in or out. Good, stiff cocktails. The fish tacos are wonderful, fresh and prepared perfectly. Quahogs are delicious - they were our first quahogs ever and we are now lifelong fans. They sold the lobster roll as the best in the neighborhood. We went with the cold and it did not disappoint. Large portion with a very balanced blend of flavor. And we had an empanada with seafood filling that was so delicious. Warm, charming service from a mother and daughter pair. read more

I liked the variety on the menu, and the food was fine, but not particularly memorable. The mushrooms stuffed with crab meat. The Fisherman's pot pie, was tasty and filling -- what I was in the mood for -- but not particularly memorable. I wish I had ordered the swordfish or tried one of the chowders, which might have been more distinguishing. This seems to be a restaurant in search of an identity. The regular menu was accompanied by a separate "bar pizza " menu. I think they'd be better served to lean into the seafood with an emphasis on local catch. Given the number of bad restaurants in Hyannis, this is a reasonably good choice, but not one to write home about. read more

This place was ran by the most incompetent owner/chef. The food was probably boxed frozen and heated up and that's being nice. Good thing it went out of business but be on the lookout for the chef, he seemed unstable, severe low standards.... But you could look at him and tell you weren't getting anything great. It goes to show you anyone can open a business and want capitalism but yet complain about capitalism. Crazy read more

Stopped in to Cove Coastal Kitchen, Main St., Hyannis, for the first night of Hyannis Restaurant Week tonight. We chose to sit at the bar which quickly filled up while we were there. Sarah, the experienced and super friendly bartender/server handled everything (from greeting, drinks, serving and clean up) like a pro making us feel welcome and taken care of...despite her running it all out front. We opted for the $38 three course prix fixe menu and a bottle of wine at 50% off. My husband also tried and really enjoyed the fall Sangria which was made with Bourbon and Pinot Noir. Our starters included Bang Bang Brussels Sprouts and Crab Rangoon Dip with wontons. Both were generous portions and absolutely delicious! Our entrees included the Fisherman Pot Pie and House Steak. Again, both were served piping hot and were full of flavor. The FP had generous portions of cod, salmon and shrimp and served with a side of mashed potatoes. The unique House steak is a nod to the blend of Cape with Portuguese food being topped with grilled ham, an over easy egg and a garlicky wine sauce with a side of asparagus, greens, cannellini beans, roasted peppers and tomatoes. And for the third course we were offered: Cinnamon Churros, Sweet Potato Maple Cheesecake or Charred Pineapple Uoside Down Cake which we had to leave (take home!!) for another day! Well worth $38 and Sarah, despite her very busy schedule, could not have made our first trip here more enjoyable. We enjoyed the fresh, unique food Chef Rich sent out and the fabulous welcome and service from Sarah in this casual environment. Their extensive regular menu which includes starters, snacks, soups, chowder, salads, sandwiches, seafood, steak, and pasta entrées along with bar pizza seem to offer options for everyone. Outstanding. I went the other night, had some delicious margaritas at the bar. Then I ordered the Black Diamond Steak Frites. It was the best steak I've had in years. Medium rare, cooked to perfection and melt in your mouth. I'm a bit of a steak snob and this was 5 star. Capital Grille has nothing on this steak. I'm looking forward to having dinner again there. Get the lobster roll at Fresh Ketch, if you must (ok, you must), but then just eat here. The best rendition of pork and clams I've ever had, including the one at Prune in NY. Briny fresh oyster and a great Diablo Margarita. Wish I could have eaten more: if that dish was as that skillfully done, the others must be amazing, too. The food is amazing! I eat here every time I'm in Hyannis and it's by far my favorite restaurant. The staff is warm and friendly which makes it have a real family feel. The decor is modern and tables are spaced nicely so you feel like you have space. I love this place!!! read more

Relatively new establishment that replaced a prior restaurant. Open interior gets loud when it is full. Wide variety of seating from tables to booths to bar. Food was fantastic from appetizers to entrees. Portuguese flair was evident in more than half of the menu. Our group of 4 cut across the menu with no duplication and everything ordered was terrific. I'll need to come back just to try the items I could not order. Wine list by the glass was longer than average which gave some nice options to pair for dinner. Wait staff was working hard tending to a full house on a Sunday night, keeping up the whole time. Great start for a new business! read more

Everything from the minute we walked in the door with the friendly staff, the atmosphere, the food- it was all fabulous. The prices were SO REASONABLE and the food was amazing. We were both pleased with all our food selections and the dessert was home made unlike a pre made dessert that most places serve. We are already looking forward to going back! The chef is the owner and you can tell he This is a new establishment and we are hoping others support them and experience what we did- you wont be disappointed!
