What a disappointment! Stay away from here !!! We were visiting Cape Cod for a long weekend in October and several friends recommended not miss going to Four Seas Ice Cream..... what a total waste of time!! The older woman working the counter alone was not friendly at all... there weren't many flavors to pick from and when I asked if we could get a sundae she snapped at me and said "No, only cones!" in a mean voice .... the ice cream cones she served the customers ahead of us looked like they were soft and melting ...and were dripping on the customers' hands even before the customers started to eat them... stay away from this place! $4 for a small ice cream. We went twice during our stay, and the flavors were delicious. It bothered me how there wasn't much air conditioner working so when you get your ice cream, eat it really fast! The ice cream melts really quickly so definitely get in a cup (and a cone on top if you wish). The cookie dough was my favorite! read more

I was on the Cape for a weekend and had the pleasure of stopping by Four Seas for an afternoon ice cream treat! I got the almond joy sundae - coconut ice cream, hot fudge, and almonds. The sundae was delicious but the ice cream tasted a bit too icy for my preference. The line was confusing - more just different groups of people so it was difficult to determine order. I thought that the sundae was dollar overpriced and was cash only. Overall a fun experience but would rather make my own sundaes at home! read more

My husband has come here since he was a young kid, and it's an important tradition to him to visit. The ice cream is good, and homemade, so is understandably more expensive. The seating situation really needs an update though. The outside of the building goes close to the road and there is no picnic table or outdoor seating, just a parking lot. The indoor booths are in rough shape. We're a family with four young children, and I find the lack of space and seating stressful. I'd love to see this improve in years to come! read more

I don't get the bad ratings! There is an ice cream stand literally at the bottom of my street but I drive an hour to go to Four Seas during the summer on a week night. This place is very cool and I have always liked the ice cream. For most part their flavors are simple and old-fashion. Not packed with gummy bears and goo. Maybe that is the appeal, I think the flavors taste very good, Maybe the naysayers are smokers and can only taste something that is loaded with candy bars and sugar. I have waited in lines that extend into the parking lot and even with the crowds I found the kids inside to be very friendly. read more

Not the best ice cream I've ever had, but still pretty good. Ordered a regular mocha chip. Good mocha flavor and the chips give it a nice crunchy texture. Portions are huge - definitely not complaining about that. This place is always packed, but worth the wait. read more

HAPPY 400TH REVIEW TO ME!!!! This ice cream place used to be my favorite on Cape Cod, but due to location and my last experience, I may not come here every year when we do our annual visit. Location is strange, pretty much isolated from all of the highways and main roads, very difficult to navigate at night. The lines are usually huge, at least 15 minutes to get inside. My last visit, a few days ago, was underwhelming. I used to enjoy each of their flavors and the inviting atmosphere. It just felt dark when we went, lacking its Four Seas atmosphere. There was NO line, you could just walk right in at 8:00 at night. Prices aren't horrible, actually pretty cheap for Cape Cod. Portions were very small when we went, where a medium should have been a small and a large should have been a medium. This one experience lost a star from my rating, but this is a very solid ice cream place. read more

This is one of the most famous ice cream parlors on the Cape. We got the fresh strawberry, and it had a great level of creaminess and freshness. I enjoyed it. The only drawback was that there were at least 4 waitstaff just standing around watching you eat. Since the seating is counter-style, you are practically at eye level with the staff. Atmosphere probably has something to do with the stellar ratings this place gets. You are on the beach (Cape Cod, no less!) so any ice cream is going to seem a little tastier. When it comes to the ice cream itself, however, I've had much better. Tried the peach ice cream, which was very good. But, if the line is huge, go buy a pint of Haagen Daaz. read more

I am not sure if everyone rates this five stars just because of it's popularity or is it really the ice cream. Good ice cream, but Gone Chocolate in Osterville is just as good. Four Seas is about keeping it original. Remembering the past and keeping it alive. The building shouts "when I was a boy I used to come here." Or kids "this is where dad used to get his dessert with grandpa and grandma!" It also shouts old Cape Cod. Sandwiches are in some ways unique. Cream cheese and date nut, or cream cheese and olives. Who makes those anymore? A simple but fabulous lobster roll, frappes and root beer floats. Owners who are proud and dedicted to making great ice cream. Keep it simple...make mine strawberry, and then oh just got to have the banana! When I'm down that end of the Cape, I always swing by. It's extra special in the spring as it becomes a right of passage to go into Four Seas as the Cape opens up for the season. read more

Never will go back there again. It was the first and last time. Chose the mocha chocolate chip in a cup. For $3.50 I expected one large scoop. What I received was a 3 ounce sample size cup. The portion was equivalent to less than half an ice cream scoop. When it was placed on the counter in front of me I almost said never mind, and wished I had spoken up. Not only was the size ridiculous, the chips were miniscule, the flavor was bland, the texture was that of crystallized freezer burnt ice cream. The inside look dirty, run down. After my experience, I am totally baffled by the long lines I have seen in summers past and all the good reviews I am reading here on yelp. read more

We came here several years ago and thought it was awesome. But something was definitely off on our recent visit. Our family adores ice cream and we had already been to Lewis's in P-town (very good), Sweet Escapes in Truro (yummy), and Sundae School in Orleans (fantastic). We figured that Four Seas would be the pinnacle of ice cream glory on our trip. We were wrong. I got the peanut butter chocolate chip. It was very creamy but the peanut butter flavor was bland and the tiny bits of dark chocolate were either too small to really taste, or they also lacked character. After eating about a third of my cone, I decided it wasn't even worth the calories and threw it away. I tried my son's plain chocolate and it was REALLY bland, I could barely discern a chocolate flavor at all. He complained about it too, and this is a kid who will eat Breyer's quite happily. I also took a few bites of my husband's pecan penuche. It was a little more flavorful than the first two, but nothing special, and there were hardly any pecans in it at all. This is also the only ice cream place I have ever been to that won't let you taste anything before you order. Hmm, maybe there is a reason for that (which has nothing to do with holding up the line)? read more

This is the best ice cream you will find on the cape. I have been coming here for over 15 years with my grandparents and family, we even bring coolers so we can bring quarts home to the Boston area. I cannot imagine going elsewhere for ice cream down the cape. There will be lines, it's a crazy busy place but the ice cream is always handmade and homemade and worth the wait, so delicious!! Love the old school feel and don't care that it is small, it's size and decor keep it classic and that's refreshing just like their ice cream!!! read more

It smelt ass. My frapp was half full. I don't like that they sell egg salad and lobster rolls at an ice cream place. They place was slanted. They roof was a upsidedown triangle on the inside. My server couldn't take 6 orders and after hearing them over over and over he still got it wrong. I took 3 sips from my frapp and it was empty. read more

The Four Seas ice cream experience is a step back in time. The place still has the amazing staff of young adults scooping like crazy, still has the rickety screen doors, the creaky floor, the after-supper line out the door. I love it! The only reason for 4, not 5, stars is the ice cream: This summer we noticed a distinct difference in the several flavors we've tried in 3 visits. The flavor is there, but the high butterfat content seems to have been reduced, so the ice cream is lacking some of that super-creamy, super rich quality that made Four Seas so famous. Still, a great ice cream shop with a rich history. I just hope the quality remains as high as in the past. read more

I have been going here since 1975 and while I admit that nostalgia definitely enters into it, this is the best ice cream shop in the world! I love everything about it: the slanty floors, the slamming screen doors, the funny paper liners in the water cups, the old fashioned olive loaf sandwiches, the 30 preppy kids working like madmen behind the counter, even the crazy long line snaking out into the parking lot and dangerously close to the street. Went here after visiting the rabbi for my wedding. I was expecting a lot and went with coconut and black raspberry with the marshmallow and whip cream. The marshmallow and whip cream were top notch, but the flavor in the ice cream was not very strong. I was slightly disappointed, but only because my expectations in Cape Cod are so high. read more

Really good ice cream. The line is always long and it gets confusing on the queing- i.e. who goes next? The ice cream is really high in fat content so it melts almost as soon as you get it. I recommend getting a cup instead of a cone. My biggest complaint is no sprinkles/jimmies. Are you kidding me?? I understand not using those crappy fakes chocolate jummies but the real chocolate jimmies are delicious. Come on??
