    I have had bad experiences with Fox and was filled with trepidation when I approached the counter. Thankfully, it ended up being a great experience. Ernesto was very friebdly, helpful and professional. The gentleman who helped me to get my car was super nice as well. The car itself was just OK. It had scratches and little dings. They did a walk through as part of the process of checking out the car and noted it in a sheet that I had to review before I took the car. None of the other car rentals do that, that was kinda weird.

    The rental office is housed in a building along with other rental car agencies that is about an 5-10 minute walk from the baggage claim. I generally like using Fox Rent a Car if need a rental car during my travels because they generally have the best prices. I expect them to have no frills and no thrills, but this location is lacking with service. Not sure if they are short handed due to the holidays, but when I showed up to pick up my rental car just after 9am (they open at 6am), there was no one at the desk. There was no sign that stated how to get a hold of anyone. I waited around for 5+ minutes, then proceeded to look up a phone number I could call for the office. 10+ minutes goes by and I was just about to dial a phone number that I finally found for Fox Rent A Car when an employee walks in with a bag of food and a couple drinks. I was greeted and she was apologetic that I had been waiting for 10-15 minutes with no help. She seemed new and had some difficulty completing the paperwork for my rental. She had to call/text her manager multiple times and eventually the manager came over from somewhere to help. I was the only customer at the time, but as I was completing my paperwork, there were a couple more customers, so hopefully they had better experience. My rental was already pre-paid including $150 extra for deposit, but for some reason they had to pre-auth another $1 which seems strange to me. I will be returning this car at the Ontario Airport location, so hopefully I will have a better experience there.

    Worse place to rent from. Managers train to make sure you feel like you have to buy there products.

Same thing with a few that have already commented. I declined fuel coverage for the vehicle and filled up the tank around the corner from this location. When I turned it in, I received a charge for $75 for fuel. I was confused and reached out to customer support the next day to resolve. Since I don't have a receipt of me getting gas that amounted to $16 I paid, or a card charge/statement (paid in cash) they are not honoring it. Even though when I checked out the car they put in their system that it is full lol. What a joke. Avoiding Budget in the future for sure, I have rented from just about every big other car rental place and have not dealt with this issue.

The lady wasn't friendly but customer service wasn't something she excelled in. She charged me $258 in "incidentals", when I inquired why so high, she said "You'll get it back when you return the car." Budget and Avis are the only 2 rentals places at Burbank that open at 5:30a. I came at 5am to get in line to return car. 6 cars in line. I'm 2nd. They took first car and fourth car. Did I mention I was 2nd? What the heck? I asked if there was a reason he took the car 2 cars behind me and he just looked at me. It was 5:25a. I asked him if he could inspect my car. He said inspections start at 5:30am. So I asked him what he did with the cars at 5:10am (cars 1 and 4) and he said "Check them in." I said "So basically, they're turned in?" and he said "Yes." So not sure what's the difference between "Turned in" and "Inspected" so I just left my keys on the dash and left and while I was walking to the airport it got notification that my car was turned in. While waiting for said guy to come back and turn in/inspect my car, the 3rd car guy and I were chatting and told me next time ask for a hybrid so I don't waste much gas (I was given a Jeep Compass). I give up.

It means I didn't have to wait at the rental counter (but I did because I didn't know I was a member of such a rewarding club). So I go downstairs, see my name on this board, and ask someone at that counter, so which one is mine? He tells me I have my choice between a Kia sedan or SUV. The SUV, please. And here's the kicker, it only had 55 miles on it. A new ride? What is happening here? This Gold stuff is definitely not whatever. Anywho, return was breeze and this was a great rental experience.

Every time I've reserved a specific vehicle, I've been given something completely different, often times an entirely different class of vehicle. This past weekend I attended a funeral. I earned an electric vehicle, Polaris sedan, but upon arrival, nobody was present to assist me and the vehicle that they assigned me was a 2022 Tesla Model 3. This vehicle was in extremely poor condition. The rear fender was damaged, or was missing a reflector in the bumper, and all the wheel center caps were missing. The interior was in worse condition. It smelled like body odor, the seat adjustment buttons on the driver seat were missing, the steering wheel was ripped into pieces and taped, and the sun visors and headliner were filthy. Furthermore, the vehicle had 92,000+ miles. I've never been in a rental with such high mileage. While renting, within 12 hours of picking the car up, I received an email stating that my return was initiated and the car was received by Hertz. My reservation/ contractual agreement was for 4 days. I attempted to contact representatives at the airport location but no answer. I called customer service multiple times and was placed on hold, but nobody picked up. Completely dissatisfied with Hertz, and will no longer rent from them.
