Excellent service! I've been renting cars from the Burbank location for years, and the service is always excellent. But, this time I was very grateful because my flight was delayed and arrived after they closed. They saved me because an employee stayed after hours because he knew there were delayed flight that night. I was so impressed they did that. I would have been without a car until the next morning. Their staff were high when they served me, he was also scrolling on tinder swiping left and right when I asked him why he gave me the wrong sized minibus, he begged me not to tell his boss he was on his phone at work and then went on to explain that he gave my reserved minibus away by mistake , blamed me for not reserving it earlier (when in fact I reserved it 6 months previous), then when I went to complain at the front desk that I needed the minibus I ordered for the seat capacity the other staff member raised his voice at me and told me I was being ungrateful because they are giving me two vehicles instead of one.. ( how I'm suppose to drive two at once I don't understand) and after three months of trying to get someone on the phone to get someone to take my complaint seriously they black list me. read more

wow! EpiC experience as a 1st - timer with the emerald club! I didn't know what to expect when I first arrived! Watched a lot of social media videos to see what kind of selection I would get! It was super vague, but after attending for the first time I knew what to expect I ended up picking a Hyundai ioniq hybrid! Having sold most of these cars here at the Emerald aisle ! I knew the Hyundai was the perfect choice for all the exploring I did while I was down here in SoCal I averaged 61 miles per gallon, the range was 610 miles on a full tank and the only complaint I had was the electronic parking brake / auto hold warning signal kept dinging! It ended up going away on the last day in the last wee hours of my usage with it! The car was freaking perfect! It had moonroof USB for Apple CarPlay, power side mirrors that fold down when you reverse into a parking spot, heated seats, HID headlights, keyless entry, push button start, memory seat, and my favorite the fuel economy all in all , an epic experience recommended by a family member! read more

Given the pandemic, we wanted to go for a long camping trip to Mt Whitney and Death Valley. Given the terrain, we wanted to rent a 4x4 vehicle. Iain at the National/Enterprise Car rental at Bob Hope/Burbank Airport was the hero we needed to find the vehicle most useful for our journey. He was communicative, amiable, and available when we needed him most. He came through for us with an awesome Jeep 4x4 Wrangler Limited Edition which let us go to the extremes of the places we were at. We got amazing photos and had an amazing time. If it wasn't for Iain and his support we wouldn't have had such a wonderful trip. We would not hesitate to rent from this National/Enterprise location at Burbank Airport and we would def come see Iain for our next adventure! read more

Unfortunately, the facility at the airport never answers the phone. After dropping the car at Burbank Airport this morning I realized I left a pair of prescription glasses in the car. I have called over a dozen times an no one has picked up the phone. after about three minutes, the call drops. I have called the Emerald Club Service line and opened a case but have to hear back from the local facility. I have been an Emerald member for 20 years now and am a little disappointed that I cannot speak to a live person at the facility read more

My agent, Driss, was absolute garbage. When he asked us for our number, apparently another name popped up in their system but he didn't match the name to our license. He had us sign and initial our paperwork so when we got to the gate, they said the names don't match from the paperwork to our license. We had to go back to the counter and change it. But what a big inconvenience. We were there for atleast an hour. It is the agents job to check and match the license to the reservation. Is that not correct? Because as an ex Avis employee agent, this has always been our security rules. And of course the agent had no straight answers and started ignoring us. Made the request 4 weeks in advance and NO ONE could give us an answer beyond "you will find out when you get to the counter". The pick up location redirected us to Corporate. Corporate sent us to escalation dept. Escalation dept sent us back to pick up location. One employee at the Vancouver International Airport pick up location even hung up on us. I am an Executive Elite member and have been renting from this location for over 4 years. I rent at least once a month or more from this location. They share with Enterprise and if National doesn't have any upgrade cars Enterprise would give me one. Management changes a lot but they would still take care of their loyal customers. I am surprised that the staff that hasn't moved on treats their loyal Elite customers like how I was treated the last two times I rented. It's like loyalty and Status doesn't exist. I don't expect an Audi every time but I definitely don't expect a Nissan Altima that has low tire pressure and smells like cigarettes. The return staff and other staff members are still friendly and gives you the friendly smile. I use to rave about the Burbank location and always refer friends and family. Now I feel Phoenix, Houston, and Denver are on top. I would say customer service changed not with this recent management but the last one that just got promoted. I've never left a bad review on anyone but I am so disturbed by this because I rent here all the time. read more

This was one of the BEST & EASIEST car rentals I've ever experienced! It may have helped I was on a business trip, but I don't think that registered to the attendant & from pick up to drop off this was a breeze with upmost compliments for customer service!!! The lovely lady who greeted me at the counter when I arrived was on top of her game. She could immediately tell I was new to the area & offered me sound advice- didn't press anything extra at all (like they usually do). She not only walked me through the difference in cost of refueling on my own prior to drop-off, but also kindly offered me a vicinity map to guide me along the way. (I mean, no one uses paper maps anymore but it certainly was a nice gesture & appreciated!) The process was easy. It was booked online ahead & the finalization at the counter was maybe 15 minutes- no line... until one accumulated behind me, lol! But what shocked me- I was told "pick the vehicle you want from the garage"! What?! That was more fun than anticipated! I literally got to go pick which rental I wanted out of the lot. I loved it & was very happy with the choices available. Everything from economy to basic sedan to SUV & full-size pickup truck. A checkpoint to verify when I left the garage took 5 minutes (or less). I didn't have a single issue with the vehicle. I totally forgot to refuel & surprisingly did not eat a hefty bill to follow! Because returning was THAT easy, too. I simply came back & handed over the keys. No questions, inspections or hassle. No surprise paperwork or anything. I had to pinch myself! Absolutely wonderful when you're trying to book it to security before your next flight. So that's the other aspect- my return was Long Beach airport, not Burbank where I picked it up. It was just as much a breeze! ...minus the fact I forgot my phone adapter on the vent clip. They won't check, notify or send back personal items left. But that's not a beef I have since it's my own fault. I just sincerely appreciate the ease it was in this rental. And would definitely choose them again next round! read more

Typically this location is great, but the last few times have been rough. My current vehicle has a hole in the floorboard carpet, filled urine bottle under the seat from a previous renter, scratches and debris throughout and this 4-Runner has had a rough 20,000 miles. I had rented through National for a family vacation. My rental extended past my rental agreement which I called to notify them. All conversations are recorded and I still have the time and date I called. Person I spoke to told me my extended charge will be $55 a day. I was charged $193 for one day and to top it off I returned the car at 11:01pm and was told if I return it the same night I wouldn't get charged another day. The following morning I get an email that National charged me another day, so two days charged for $193 I called 3 times and all phone calls told me there would be an investigation and someone would get back with me. It's been nearly 3 weeks and I haven't heard from anyone. Whomever is in charge please reach out to me to fix the situation at hand. I am very upset of how the situation was handled and will be expecting someone getting back with me. read more

Burbank airport national rental car manager won't let me choose any vehicle in the emerald aisle. He was choosing the car he wants to give me. this is unacceptable, I booked for a car and paid $100 more extra so I can pick the car I like. Many cars are in the aisle but clearly the manager just doesn't want to help, he does not deserve that positio. read more

I'm forced to use National because that's who my company books. Were it up to me, I'd never use them again. Their cars are almost always filthy but the most frustrating thing about National is their inability to get my receipts to me in a timely manner. For my last rental, they took over a MONTH to get me my invoice. They have zero regard for the fact that I am required to submit my expenses within 48 hours of the completion of a trip. They simply do not care. EDIT: Hi Lisa, no, I won't be sending any additional details because I've *already* sent all kinds of "additional details" on multiple occasions and absolutely nothing has changed. This is an ongoing problem with most of the National locations I am forced to use. This is a chronic and systemic problem within your organization. The fact that it is allowed to continue tells me your company really doesn't care. read more

I hate to write a bad review for anyone and I try to give every company the opportunity to make things right but National has really let me down. I am an Executive Customer and rent frequently as I travel for work. I have been trying to get someone from National to call me from their Regional or National level to explain the situation that occurred around thanks giving of 2022. I had flown into LAX because my wife and I had to attend a family members funeral. We arrived late in the evening and grabbed a vehicle and started our 2.5 hour drive to our destination. As we left the facility navigation routed us towards down town LA,(assuming the 405 was at a stand still). As we go into downtown LA we heard a loud clank sound and a grinding started on the car. It sounded like we where driving on the rumble strips on the side of the road. We pulled off in downtown and called roadside assistance. They aid that a tow truck would be a couple hours and being between LAX and Burbank we spoke to the lady on the phone and decided to limp the vehicle over to Burbank. She put us on hold to call ahead to Burbank and let them know we were headed their direction and would be there soon. We drove surface roads from our location to Burbank so as not to be driving to fast as we had really no idea what was wrong with the Car. We arrived in Burbank about 45 minutes later and pulled up to the return area. A gentleman their pointed us to another area to pull the car to. We pulled to that area and waited, after about 5 minutes and nobody coming I walked inside to the rental counter. At that time there was no other customers around. I let them know why I was their and a blonde gentlemen with a European accent said he would take care of me and get us handled. HE said he was going to find a car and would be right back. After about 15 minutes of watching him walk back and fourth down the aisles looking for god knows what I walked to him and asked him if we could just grab one of the cars on either the executive aisle or emerald aisle so we could get going as it was getting late and we still had quite a drive ahead of us. He told us that we couldn't take just any car that it had to be a specific car and he made it clear by telling us "YOU ARE NOT MY CUSTOMER!" I was really taken back by that as I had rented from National Car Rental. I asked him if this was not National Car Rental and he said yes but "You are not my customer you did not rent the car from me!" This actually got me pretty upset as I had done everything I thought I needed to do and that a national brand like National Car Rental would take care of me when and if a problem with the car occurred. We did not ask for anything but to get a vehicle that would get us from A to B. He finally got us a vehicle but this whole ordeal in Burbank took about 45 minutes and the craziest thing is that they had so many cars that they were having difficulty finding places to park them all. Every parking spot was full and they had most the aisles full too. The next day I got a text from someone named Hunter in LAX asking how things went. I responded back and let him know that so far this was the worst experience I have had with National. He immediately called my and we spoke through it, I did not ask for anything but he did offer a few concessions for the inconvenience those of which I am still waiting for even now. I also asked for a Regional Manager to call so I could voice my frustrations to regarding the experience, I was told my information would be passed along. A few weeks later I tried to follow-up and was told that it takes 5-10 business days for the credits to hit my account which at that point that time had passed. I also again asked to speak to someone and was told again my information would be passed along. Here it is two months later and I still cant get anyone to speak to me. I would highly recommend you finding somewhere else to rent if you wan to have good service. read more

After what seemed to be an endless and confusing walk to the rental car area from the airport, I finally found it provided a car. Unfortunately the car had some minor damage to it such as some dents and scrapes to the paint. At the time I'd arrived which was after 8 p.m., there was only 1 attendant checking cars out. I was third in line, but not in a rush. I do feel bad for the folks behind me. When I told him of the damage, he actually found more damage and wrote a nice note for me to take with me since I was dropping the car off at John Wayne instead of Burbank. The line behind me was approximately 10 cars deep now and he spent at least 15 minutes going over the damage and giving me his cell number in case there were any questions. On the afternoon of April 21, 2023, I arrived at Hollywood Burbank airport to cover a national sporting event for a major broadcaster. Said broadcast company is owned by one of the biggest media companies in the nation. For the first time in all my travels over the decades I was asked for a "company ID". I and most production people, camera operators, audio technicians, and directors tend to be independent contractors.  I provided the employee with an email from the company's Corporate Travel that included my reference number.  I was told, "Anyone can have an email". She was implying that I was running a scam. The manager joined and both claimed that it was National's policy, which their own customer Service was completely unaware of.  I called Global Travel and the agent explained to the manager that I didn't need a secondary ID and that they had paid for the car. He rejected that agent, as simply a "voice on the phone". He proclaimed that he would not rent me the car and walked away. Two colleagues, of European descent, that I was traveling with did not receive that treatment. If you haven't guessed already, I am African-American. National's customer service eventually arranged for me to receive a car, and they promised to investigate this matter. While I feel heard, I have not received any assurances this situation could not happen again with potentially the same individuals involved.  So, I will never do business with National Car Rental's Burbank Airport location again, and I would suggest anyone of color steer clear. read more

Turns out the Enterprise bought National. Whatever... Kitty at the front desk surprised me with the new news I am an Emerald Club member based on my past relationship with Enterprise. It's seems increasingly rare for a business to reach out to customers in response to reviews. It's almost unheard of that they'd apologize and rectify unsatisfactory experiences, without doubt or question. That is what Edwin from National Car Rental did for me. When he contacted me regarding my experience, I wasn't sure what I was expecting...suppose an explanation or an excuse (not meant negatively). Edwin apologized for my experience with a particular employee as well as my rental vehicle. Without hesitation he refunded me the total I spent for the rental. I definitely wasn't expecting his generosity. Customer service goes a long way when it comes to overall experience...grateful, I reassured him I would use National again in the future, and plan on doing so. read more

So we've used Enterprise for multiple trips when in L.A.. They are not very organized and have consistently over charged for days that have been extended on to rentals. This last trip they even added on the insurance that was clearly waived and said we owed. Thankfully we kept the paper that proved we declined insurance. Prices are a little on the higher side. Their, "we will pick up car/drop car off" policy is for no more than 3 miles and you have to drive to them and then they'll take you home. Which really??... can't they just come and pick up the car? It's still a good selling point when in a pickle, but it's still easier to have a friend or Uber pick you up or take you home. Keep an eye out online for discounts. They're out there. Horrible Executive selection last night nissan pathfinders, frontiers and Altimas, I rent around the country all the time and last night Gloria wanted to charge an upgrade of $28 a day for a truck, never has this happened, the whole crew last night except the guy at the exit could care less about my request for a truck. No cool or interesting cars were available , in the past I have rented here ask fo a full size truck and they always deliver. Gloria delivered crummy attitude toward me while smiling and acting happy. I asked for the manager twice and was told there is no manager(obviously) This location last night defeats the whole point of being Executive Elite, also a bunch of trucks and full size suvs that were "off limits" sat 20 feet away. During my trip here tomorrow Sanchez on mid February my flight got transferred from Ontario airport to the Burbank airport I had called my company travel agency and have them reschedule my car over to the Burbank facility of national car rental. Unfortunately my travel agency did not do the right thing they canceled my appointment and never rescheduled with the Burbank national car rental the team at the car rental place in Burbank did a phenomenal job they help me get the item situated worked with the travel agency that we use for work and got them to issue the correct information so that my family and I would have a car to travel to the facility site which I work out. They even upgraded my car although it was not their fault it was the fault of the travel agency. The upgrade it at no cost to me or to my company and in addition they just provide such great customer service that I will definitely use national car rental anytime that I'm traveling read more

I've never considered writing a review for a rental car company (or location) - mostly because I'm usually all annoyed by all of the nickle and diming of aggressive upselling. I am a National Member and participate in our corporate discount program. After using National's "pick the car on the lane and then drive out", I've almost been a brat when other companies have "assigned" me a car. So, even with National overall, I've never felt the need to rate a location - it's like a commodity - or a necessary evil. But I had the most pleasant experience when I picked up my car in Burbank this week. I was a bit disoriented when getting to rental car row - I wasn't used to this location and couldn't remember if I was Executive Level (I think I am). I asked the gentleman working if he could check and he smiled and said, of course I'm executive today - no matter what my paperwork says - go pick out whatever you want. I told him I would prefer a car where I could see over the steering wheel (there was a glut of really large SUV's) and he pointed me in the direction of a cute BMW convertible. I'm sure I just got there at a good time with lots of availability, but I really appreciated the joyfulness of the National employee and making me feel like I won the rental car lottery. And, honestly, driving 3 hours a day in LA traffic was a lot more fun with the vroom of a BMW. read more

Love flying into BUR because you can just walk to National Car rental and hop into the car you reserved and drive right out. I noticed reviews on Yelp people complaining about the long walk to National so I braced myself for it, but it was NOTHING. There are THREE people movers so you don't even need to walk that far if you have a ton of luggage. If you power walk it may take about 5 mins to walk. Anyway, definitely sign up for the national car emerald club free membership and download the iPhone app which works flawlessly. You reserve the car ahead of time and when you arrive you walk straight to the car which had the keys inside - it's awesome. The first time I did this I wandered a bit but immediately someone came by to make sure I was directed to the right area. The attendant, while checking out the car, was all smiles and really friendly as well. When I returned the car it was super fast too. I used to fly into LAX and take the shuttle and rent from ALAMO but that always took so much time and Alamo always had a line. The shuttle comes often enough but they stop at every terminal to pick people up and it just takes a long time. Plus after you return the car you have to wait for the shuttle again. read more

Came to Burbank for a weekend, and had no issues with this company. We chose a Kia Optima, and it ran super well and got us around to Glendale, Pasadena, and wherever else we needed to go that weekend. I've had Alamo rip me off before and try to charge me waaaay more than I booked the car for, and also had the Enterprise at the LAX try to add all these unwanted and un-warranted extra fees. I know Nationall is a sister company of Enterprise, so I went with the class this time, and have decided to not use Enterprise at LAX ever again. The service here was quick, and getting the car and returning it was super fast and easy. No hidden charges- one of the most smooth rental processes I've been able to have. If I can leave zero stars I would! SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME AND STRESS. CHRISTIAN L. (A manager) at National treated my family with such disrespect. We rented a car for my parents trip, when we arrived for pick up we explained that my sister simply paid for the rental for my parents but because her license was expired they could not release the car. We asked to switch over the reservation to my dads name and they said no. They advised us to call for assistance over the phone with cancelling and to book a new reservation. We went home did as he said, when we returned with a new reservation under my dads name they said unfortunately he would need a credit card not a. Debit card ( even though online there was an option to pay with debit ) and the debit card "they could not accept" was indeed , already charged!! He said if someone else puts a deposit on a Credit card we can take the car which makes no sense. We then had another one of my sisters drive out to burbank and turns out he said we would also need to call to cancel and create a brand new reservation. We now have $700 on hold for the next 2-3 business days and no one can do anything to assist. And to make matters worse CHRISTIAN L kept referring to my 23 year old sister as "little girl" not sure what kind of business they run here but something is not right. This was a last minute trip to see a dying friend. I went to the website and found a car for my date and time. I was about to reserve a car and finalize the transaction. Suddenly no cars were available. I call. I am told that they are NOW sold out of EVERYTHING. I go to check and reserve a car for the same p/u time and date but extended it by a coupe days. VIOLA! Cars are available. So, I call they 747 # (odd for an 818 area code area). Phone goes to cue then nothing until a long delay and disconnect. Did this twice. Same story. Called the main toll free number and sat on hold listening to repeated loop every 10 seconds. No answers. POS company. Truly disgusting customer service. I hope to see businesses go out of business and be replaced by companies that work hard to take my money and take pride in customer service. California is a mess! read more

I was in town last week to speak at a convention. I flew in to Burbank to avoid the frequent mess at LAX, requiring that I pick up a car, as my engagement was the LA Convention Center. I frequently entertain customers and partners and in this case, needed presentable transport. When I arrived, there was a pretty depleted inventory, the only vehicles left being miscellaneous Chryslers and maybe some KIA's, vehicles great for trip to Magic Mountain but hardly business. I was perplexed at my options, and Corey walked up, engaged me proactively, said "how can I assist?" I explained the situation and that I simply needed a better car than was currently on the executive aisle, that I'm executive elite, and, well, help! Corey asked when I was returning the vehicle - approximately 23 hours - and he immediately offered 1 of the available 2 Cadillac's or a BMW. BMW please, nothing wrong with Cadillacs I think, just know BMWs. Corey converted my rental into a model experience for any National rental. If Corey handled every rental, or was duplicated to every National rental counter in the country, I would be overjoyed. Corey is credit to his role, to the branch in Burbank, and to the entire National network. I wish I could place people with his personality, friendliness, and willingness to assist the customer across my organization. And by the way, he greeted me again when I returned the car, and asked if everything worked out on my business engagement as I was traversing the National lot on my way back to the terminal. This was my first experience renting a car. I was gravely disappointed that the selection was very limited. I was hoping to rent a luxury SUV. To my dismay, they only had a 2-door Cadillac SUV. If I wanted an SUV, I had to choose between Ford, Chevy, Hyundai, or Nissan. I ended up renting a Ford 4-door sedan. It was a nice car, but I really had my heart set on renting a BMW or at least a Lexus. Service was friendly, and compared to other National Car Rental locations, this had the most options, although still limited. read more

I normally fly into BUR and rent from Avis because of work, but recently I switched it up on a personal trip and went with National which became a very welcome surprise experience. As a registered member of any car rental company, you usually have an assigned car waiting for you upon arrival at the rental center. More often than not, the car is one you don't like and you have to spend additional time at the secondary counter for this said convenience. However, with National rental at BUR, there's no waiting for Emerald Club and you're directed straight to the car lot to pick up any car in the aisles that are to your liking, with the paperwork done at the exit. No haggling with a rep for a better car or to replace one. Super convenient. Rental car was clean and had no issues which is expected from any of the major car rental comapnies. Monday return was a breeze as well, no waiting during the morning rush. Have to say, my new favorite rental company at Burbank airport, and everyone knows this is the best airport to fly into for Socal. read more

We flew in from San Jose and used National for our car rental. Having used National many times for work when traveling all around the U.S., I had always enjoyed their ease of use and cleanliness of cars. At this location, staff was nice and friendly. When we returned the car, we later found out that our flight was cancelled due to weather. We used National again and drove a new car up to San Jose. There was an issue with a misunderstanding of a specific charge, but the manager called and took care of it. I will keep using National and this location definitely proves that they will go the extra mile for you. Will def come back again. read more
