Pickup was very rapid due to online check-in. The vehicle itself was a bit worse for the wear. It had 75,000+ miles on it, the USB ports did not work. In case you didn't know, you have to leave Burbank Airport and cross the street to find this rental location. I'm a Gold member, but the only benefit I used was the free second driver. We arrived 30 minutes before my pickup time and there were only a few people ahead of us. However, even with three employees working, they were super slow and we ended up waiting nearly an hour to get our vehicle. It was very frustrating and so much time got wasted when we were already in a rush. The layout of the parking garage is also very confusing, and it took us a while to locate the car. I eventually had to ask the guy sitting in the Hertz office for help. At the Hertz counter, I asked where to return the car. The employee said he didn't know because they had moved and suggested checking Google or the email confirmation for the address. I later found two different addresses online and wasn't sure which one was correct. Good thing I saved both addresses because I trusted the return address in the email they sent me and went all the way there just to find out it was the old address. Fortunately, we didn't miss our flight due to the delay in returning the car. Please update the address in your email for god's sake. The latch in the trunk to lower the backseat fell off the morning we returned the vehicle when we opened the trunk, and we never used it. Good thing we didn't get charged for it. I tend to rent cars from Hertz more than any other rental company, but after this past weekend, never again. Every time I've reserved a specific vehicle, I've been given something completely different, often times an entirely different class of vehicle. This past weekend I attended a funeral. I earned an electric vehicle, Polaris sedan, but upon arrival, nobody was present to assist me and the vehicle that they assigned me was a 2022 Tesla Model 3. This vehicle was in extremely poor condition. The rear fender was damaged, or was missing a reflector in the bumper, and all the wheel center caps were missing. The interior was in worse condition. It smelled like body odor, the seat adjustment buttons on the driver seat were missing, the steering wheel was ripped into pieces and taped, and the sun visors and headliner were filthy. Furthermore, the vehicle had 92,000+ miles. I've never been in a rental with such high mileage. While renting, within 12 hours of picking the car up, I received an email stating that my return was initiated and the car was received by Hertz. My reservation/ contractual agreement was for 4 days. I attempted to contact representatives at the airport location but no answer. I called customer service multiple times and was placed on hold, but nobody picked up. Land, walk across baggage claim through the open air pedestrian corridor into the rental car facility. 5 min tops. Saw my name on the board and was able to pick the option that risked for the family in the designated lot. Sign up for the Gold Member option and bypass the line at most locations! After landing at Burbank Airport yesterday, I walked from the terminal to the rental car hub. As I'm a Gold Member, which anyone can register and sign up for on their website, I went straight to the board to find my name. Once you locate your name, you will see which section/class of cars you selected during your reservation. You simply go to that section and choose the car you would like to drive. I suggest you view/take pictures of the vehicle inside and out before starting the engine to make note of any existing damage. Once you are ready to leave, you will show your drivers license and credit card to the booth attendant and off you go! The return process was also smooth and quick! read more

He offered me rental insurance and i told him that already got insurance coverage when i was booking my car. When i returned the car i figure out that he charged me $30 for another insurance. Long story short I had booked my rental, called to confirm if there was any additional items I needed to complete for the rental and they said NO, I was fine. I arrive on pick up day and they said I could not pick up the car because there was no deposit submitted and the card on file could not be used because of "terms and conditions". Which was never told to me before or when I called to confirm any more action items. I had to push back my trip and all my plans were ruined because of this situation. I was looking forward to my 1st rental as a gold star client. Had to check in at the counter. We loaded the 1st vehicle only to find a low tire pressure warning on. We got another vehicle, but is had the smell of weed and a seat configuration that did not work with kid car seats. Was offered an upgrade for over 150% of the original contract. We ended taking the 1st car with the low tire pressure and hope it does not go flat. So much for walking up and picking up your rental. Burbank is a really small airport. The rental car facility is a convenient but long walk from the airport. Good thing that there are moving walkways to ease the walk a little. When you finally get the Hertz area, you can either walk into the Hertz counter or if you are a Gold Member or higher, you can just head to the board and see where your car is parked. For a small airport, this is a pretty decent-sized Hertz location. When I got here, there were a lot of cars to choose from as a Gold or President's Circle member. I didn't need to interact with staff when I picked up my car but when I returned my car, the employee that checked me in was very friendly and helpful in getting me a receipt as requested. Burbank is a nice little airport to fly into when you come down to the Burbank/Glendale/So Cal area. I have never been disappointed by this Hertz location in my travels. read more

Absolute terrible service, been waiting over a hour and a half to get my car that I reserved. I was told it will be a 30 min wait for my car to be ready, that was a lie. I'm not the only one with this issue, there's three other customers that have been waiting to receive their car but we are being told they are "almost ready". Why give an option to receive a car at a certain time when you won't be able to get it until a hour plus or more. Will be going back to National car rental because I know all I have to do is walk to the car aisle, choose a car & check out at the gate. UPDATE waited a total of 2 hours to get my scheduled car. I was not a walk up, I scheduled this rental months prior. I found out that if you are not a gold member, you will be treated as a walk in, does not matter if you had a reservation or not. Gold members will take priority & it is why getting a car takes awhile. This gold membership is absolutely free but they do not advertise it on their website. So I highly suggest signing up for the free membership before making a reservation or just walking in, hope this helps. read more

Hertz at the Burbank airport is a VERY Long walk from the terminal. So you better pray you don't have heavy bags. Oh! But don't worry, they tell you that they will give you a ride when you drop off your car. BUT that's not necessarily true either. I dropped my car off at 5:50 am and I was told I had to wait til 6 because they had no drivers. Then the lady comes back and says her manager said it would be 20 minutes (this was at 6:05). They Tried to discourage me saying it could make me late for my flight. I assured them I was early enough that it wouldn't be a problem. I asked if I could just go check my bags and come back and walk and I was told no. Oh! And the entire time I was left waiting, I watched several ""drivers" take the cars around me. I would be very careful renting from this location. Be sure to take detailed photos prior to accepting the vehicle. They will look to charge you a lot for small damage if you cannot prove--with photos--that it existed prior to your rental. The girl "found" small damage points that in no way could've happened while I had the vehicle, but since I didn't note them beforehand they went after my insurance for them. My company's insurance manager says that this is frequently a problem with Hertz. read more

President's Circle - Zero cars for 20 minutes! Whaaa? That has never happened to me at any airport anywhere in the country! As such, there was no selection either. As a President's Circle member, I feel they should've asked what type of vehicle I preferred and washed it first. The first car was missing a handle to close the rear hatch, so I had to swap it out and transfer all of my luggage to whatever was brought out next. There were four or five agents standing around to assist, but probably not enough personnel to clean and prep the returns. It's a long walk versus a shuttle to get to the rental car area. Not that a shuttle is needed, but good to know if your hauling luggage and children from the terminal to Hertz. This all may be a deal-breaker for flying into BUR if this happens again. read more

At first I'm greeted with "what do you want" by an employee who seemed confused about everything and then because the manager saw I had a blunt wrapper in my the car she said she would be charging me $400 for a detailed cleaning assuming I smoked weed in the car when the car didn't have any smells of smoke. My family and I walked to the counter upstairs but nobody was there. No sign saying they were closed, so had to ask one of the people from the other rental companies what to do. They said go downstairs to the 'gold members' only check-in. Okay. Then I wanted to add family members to the rental, but was told there would be additional charges of $15 per day per person. Umm, what?? I pointed out that under CA law (AB 901 for you nerds out there), rental companies CANNOT CHARGE for additional drivers if the additional driver(s) are a parent, spouse, co-worker, child, sibling, or grandparent. The lady said they could because the law had changed. Yes, but that new 2022 law they talked about (the same previously mentioned AB 901 as before), specifically states that (once again) car rental companies CANNOT CHARGE parents, children, siblings, grandparents, etc. as additional drivers. She didn't budge, and neither did we. So, we asked to speak with her manager, a guy who waived the fees only after being shown proof online. Since most people don't look at their receipts and/or don't know the law, I'm sure these illegal fees get tacked onto people's rentals all the time, and there's certainly a financial interest for Hertz to see how many extra fees they can get away with. It's so frustrating. But wait, there's more! Once the trip was done and the car returned on-time, THEY TRIED TO ADD THE SAME FEES AGAIN AT THE END. It was like, "okay, you caught us once, but let's see if you remember that again when you're tired and just want to go home." Like, are you kidding me?? This is outrageous!!! Wasn't having any of that, so had to go through the whole song and dance again to get the fees waived. Really makes me want to not rent from Hertz again, and it seems like their employees at this location didn't care whatsoever about whether the fees were legitimate or not. I PREPAYED to get a deal for my rental. When I got there they asked for my physical card that I used to book with, I did not have it ( My mistake, it was on the fine print disclaimer that I must bring the card) . The lady couldnt for the life of God comprehend how to rebook my rental. She stated, well I would have to rebook it or you would have to call and rebook it... and we have anymore rentals available...
