One star if I could!! WORST. RENTAL. CAR. EXPERIENCE. EVER!!!! I booked my flight, hotel and car rental as a bundle through Expedia. I was the purchaser of this trip to Burbank from Las Vegas, MY name was on the reservation, and I added my spouse as a driver as I've done on every trip I've ever made. We had a situation where my spouse could not make this trip. It happens occasionally where one of us can't make the trip, but this was the FIRST AND ONLY time the car rental company has denied either of us a car unless we were BOTH PRESENT!! Nightmare scenario. Every other rental company would have reviewed me as the purchaser of the package, the spouse, would have accepted my driver license and let me on my way. So my spouse is listed as a driver, could not be there and I literally, tearfully BEGGED them to help me out. The rep went to the back office to discuss my "situation" with the manager who decided to release me the rental provided I PAY AGAIN AND ADDED A SECIRITY DEPOSIT!!! Expedia did their due diligence and have since credited me for the purchase after first declining my request for a refund because FOX car rental wasn't able to be contacted and wouldn't answer Expedia's call. It appears that the office at Fox rentals is closed on the weekends. But the following business day, FOX confirmed that they did indeed charge me and Expedia credited me the next business day. A horrible experience from FOX rental. They literally turned me away even though my name was all over the reservation. The distress was awful. I wouldn't rent from this minor league company again if it were the last car rental company on the planet. read more

I am giving this location 5 stars because they went over & beyond to help my family out. We landed in LA with a van reserved through Fox. But upon arrival, they were short cars due to a lot of flights being changed/cancelled. They were only able to give us a 4Runner but it was too small for my family & 6 luggages. They were not going to compensate us for down grading our car so we were a bit stressed out. We drove over to our hotel near Universal Studios and luckily there is a Burbank location for Fox. Crystal helped us upon arrival. Unfortunately there were no vans but she was able to get us one the next day. Their staff is super friendly & helpful. Cars were clean too. And lucky for us, it was like a 10 minute drive from the hotel. Thank you Crystal & staff for all the help! read more

There was some good here and I liked the small SUV I rented. However, they do have some unsettling business practices. For one, when I booked the vehicle online, I declined any type of insurance. When I went to pick it up, the person at the desk asked if I wanted the basic insurance or the upgrade. Thinking these were my only two options I chose the basic, thinking that's what I already selected. The problem is I didn't choose either one earlier. So I had to pay over $100 more. When I caught this and the person checking me out explained it, I went with it since it'd absolve me from any damage charges. The kicker is when I brought the vehicle back, a different employee was fervently looking for anything to charge me with. He said that because there was dirt in the door jams, they'd charge me for that. I said I could just quickly clean them, which I did in under a minute with a disinfectant wipe. I told him I purchased the insurance and I shouldn't be charged for it anyway. He asked to see my receipt, I showed him, then he confirmed I was correct. When the cleaner came back, I asked if I needed to clean anything else as I didn't want hidden charges and he said he could take care of everything. The other employee said if the cleaner was there when I originally came in, he wouldn't have had me clean it. Then when I looked on the receipt diagram, he marked a scratch on the right side. There was no scratch, it was just dirt that could've been wiped off if he brought it to my attention first. You have to purchase the insurance here as they go out of their way to look for things to charge you with when you return the vehicle. read more

I did book direct, got there on time and was told even though I prepaid they didn't have a car for me, told me I could come back in an hour to see if there is a car. I was told this is why you should book direct, which I did, after that he just said well I have a car but it a upgrade. $60 later I took a car, that was not a upgrade just a car. Fox rent a car at the airport n Los Angeles was incredibly disappointing. I reserved in advance and still had to wait 1.5 hours after my reservation time. They blamed it on customers not returning their cars in time and offered me a larger vehicle if I were willing to pay more at the time of my reservation (not any kind of deal). When they finally gave me a car, the very next day the tire was low on air. When taking it for air, a mechanic showed me there was a bulge in the tire, said it was dangerous to drive at all, and definitely not on the highway. I called Fox Rent a Car, and they offered to charge me to have their emergency roadside put the spare tire on the car (not even a safe/real tire so I could use the highway to get to my conference). Fox should have sent a safe-driving car to be swapped out for the unsafe one they rented to me, but instead they required me to take 3 hours out of my one day off (after driving off-highway on an unsafe tire for a week) to go back to the rental place for a replacement vehicle. read more

Be aware!!! I had reserved a Luxury vehicle, to be picked up from the airport in Tampa, Florida. They didn't have anything available when I arrived, and I was given a small SUV. The car was not clean, and had a very bad odor. The only other cars were all too small. When I returned the car, I was told everything looks good, and I was not given any documents. They only send email confirmations. Beware! The following day, I received my final bill. They had charged me for 9.5 gallons of gas, on a vehicle that has a 23 gallon gas tank. I had completely filled the gas tank less than 1 mile from the airport return center just before returning the car. Customer service would not correct this charge, and made it very difficult to speak with anyone who was willing to assist. I was told "this is our policy". It seems to me that FOX makes it a habit of cheating their customers. I know for a fact they cheated me. read more

If you actually want to rent the car you reserved, you picked the WRONG place! They specialize in overbooking and then leaving you S.O.L. with nothing but endless apologies and no actual solution except to send you down to another rental company counter and pay full price for a walk up reservation. The other car rental agencies must love them for pushing them business since Fox is so incompetent and doesn't actually care about running a business or customer service in any sense. To put it simply, run far, and run fast. If you do happen to actually be able to rent a car, expect the car to be weathered and damaged. Definitely not first rate cars by any means. It's sad when employees of the firm tell you never to pre-pay for their rentals since it still doesn't guarantee you a car. You'd think a car company could actually keep track of how many cars they have to rent. While it's totally conceivable things happen, someone extends a rental, a car needs repair/service, when they blatantly say they don't know what cars they might even have, that says it all. Terrible car rental company. Bad reviews online for a good reason. I had reserved a minivan a month in advance and upon arrival to the counter, I was told they have no minivans available. Be careful if you decide to complain about any step of the process as my I was denied service and they refused to cancel the reservation. I am now stuck with no car and a charge on my credit card for the rental without being able to cancel. Their low prices are not worth it as their service is totally unreliable. DON'T. If you're flying into Burbank DO NOT USE THEM. They close at 9pm which is insane for an airport and there's no process to pick up rental reservations after hours. If your flight is delayed they'll take your money and offer no assistance. Also a $500 security deposit before you even pick up the car. This place is a cash grab. This was a hard review to write, as I had to give myself time to write an objective review and not an emotional one. The customer service overall made up for the issues, but Management still needs to work on logistics because their supply process sucks! My Girlfriend booked a rental car through a website service and was contracted through this service. When we got off our plane and went to the rental agency desk, we were told cars were a little late and it would be a 20 minute wait for our car. We figured, "Oh no biggie, 20 minutes..." We walk to the garage at the airport where all the rental agencies have their cars and Fox Rent a Car is there with no cars, a long line of people waiting for cars, and one overworked poor individual who is way over his head with no support from leadership at that location. An hour passes by and we are still waiting for our car... After an extended amount of time past the hour...things escalate and finally we have to get some one from the desk area up front who hasn't done a damn thing till then to walk over. He finally got us a car, but why did it have to come to that for someone in leadership to help? Front Desk Service: the guy was very friendly and explained that they were having issues with their systems. I saw the guy almost running doing his best but it was frustating to wait 57 min in line when there were only 2 people ahead of me. The company must correct this. Sorry excuse for a rental company. Book 2 months in advance but had no car when getting to location had to wait an hour for something to be available. When I returned the car the female attendant was engrossed in conversation with a male employee and told me I'm good she would email receipt. 8 hrs later nothing showed up so called to get receipt. They will overcharge you despite having the bookings and pre-payment done from an online site.  You will be spending a lot of time figuring out why they double charged you for no reason. Booked a rental the day before and got no warning that my vehicle "might not be available" because I assumed booking a car means one of the type I selected would be there, or something equivalent. After booking a small car to fit in a tight parking space, the representative Xiomara told me I could take a Minivan or pay more to have a vehicle the same size as I'd booked. She repeatedly blamed me for not giving them enough time, when I'd booked it in the evening the day before and got no warning this could happen. After I explained I couldn't fit the van where I had access to park, Xiomara didn't care and told me to take it or leave it since it was my fault for a "last minute booking." I contacted customer support asking them to adjust the rate back to what I was promised and they offered me store credit only. Why would I want to go have Xiomara lecture me again how it's my fault for booking a car through them and assuming it would be there? This company is a bad combination of cheap and unkind when they know you're in a bad spot due to something they messed up. Being blamed for the issue was so unnecessary and they would rather squeeze every penny of the $30 they overcharged me than ever see me as a customer again. If you think you're going to save booking with this company, you're taking a big risk that you could pay more later or be told to kick rocks. read more

If a zero star review was possible, I'd give it to FOX Rental Car company at HOLLYWOOD/BURBANK Airport. No one was even at the rental office so a sign directed us to the 3rd level. The person at the 3rd level insisted we (and all other people trying to pick up their cars) went back downstairs. When the downstairs attendant finally returned from "dinner" she was most UNHELPFUL to two families in line in front of us. When we got to the counter, we were refused a car because I wanted to use a different cc for the mandatory "deposit". Our reservation was already paid in full in advance and this mandatory "deposit" on my cc was a surprise. She refused to let us use a debit card, refused to let us use our joint cc card, refused to cancel this reservation and put it in my husband's name so we could use his cc! We have been renting cars a lot this past and the past year and this absolutely the worst company we have ever rented from. First of all: our total on the website was 258$ but after adding a lot of fees that I did not request for (road side assistant and other stuff that I have no idea what they are) our total came out to 400$.. second: the car is VERY DIRTY. There are crumbs of chips and what look like ketchup stains everywhere (photos attached). All the other cars we ever rented from other rental companies were always very clean and looked and smelled like new. Very disappointed. As soon as we rented the car we tried calling the customer service. We stayed on the phone FOR ONE HOUR waiting for someone to pick up just to get transferred as soon as someone answered and wait another 30 mins, just to get to a guy saying he couldn't do anything about the car being dirty. This is definitely not the service we paid for. I also had some questions regarding some fees that I did not agree on so I also sent an email to their customer service while I was on hold on the phone (since they claim they reply to email within 24hours..). None replied to my email yet and it's been more than a day. I ended up hanging up the phone because to be honest I did not rent a car to go on a trip to spend 3 hours waiting on the phone for someone that couldn't even help us! Very very disappointed. When I went to pick up a car, the car was not available. They tried to sell me an upgrade for $40 more a day + they offered me a sedan instead of SUV for the same price. When I walked up to a hub for FOX which was closing time, there were 8 SUVs and no sedan. They told me the car is getting washed. Also, I did have an insurance and a credit card protection for rent a car, but they made me to sign a paper saying that it would be $400 if I bring the car dirty, with pet hair in the car or if somebody smokes in the car. So I am not a smoker, and I don`t have pets, but I didn`t feel good about signing that paper. So I bought insurance from rent a car that cost me $56 that I could`ve got that for $26 online when I booked the car. When they got the car, it was smelling like someone had smoked in it and air-freshener of pina colada which was disgusting. Also there was some dirt on the carpet. So if I didn`t buy that insurance, they would have sticked me with that $400 cleaning. All that thanks to EVANGELINE, at Fox counter when I checked in at Burbank airport. read more

No other accommodation was offered. Employee was not helpful but left us with a take it or leave it. Just said that all the cars like we had rented were out. I actually went through a third-party site when I rented a van for a vacation trip to Arizona. Price was good....I thought a little too good compared to other sites so I was a little anxious to pick it up. Burbank has changed a lot since the last time I rented a vehicle there. They have a completely separate building and I had no clue how to be dropped off until after. I guess the best way to get there is get dropped off at terminal, then cross over to the main building. The guy at the counter was good, but when I got the van it was just one guy there who was taking care of things and he seemed to be in a bad mood. Same guy was there when I dropped it off. So okay, not the best rental experience. Van turned out to be okay, but one note....DON'T return early, they have a extra fee for that believe it or not so when you rent make sure you have the pick-up and return time right and be there when you have the times. read more

Picking up this car experience was bad and I felt the guy at the window was just incompetent I needed to extend my already three week rental for two more days and I came in contact with Adele when I was returning the car and he was great his attitude was great he explained what I needed explained I was upset about it but I understood it their prices are the cheapest but they do have weird rules they charge you more if you bring the car back early they charge you more to say I need it for one more day you have to bring the car back and make a brand new reservation that's silly to me nobody else does that they charge you more money as a deposit if you live in the area a lot more $500 deposit if you live right in Burbank only 150 if you are from out of town the reason was a little odd they feel like from out of town you'll bring the car back in town you may not I feel like if you're a criminal and you want to take/keep the car $500 is not going to stop you actually I think if you live in the city you actually should be offered a discount but this is their rule but I had a good experience with Adele when I needed to extend my rental he made it very easy for me and I will leave it at that I'm glad I didn't have to engage with the same guy I picked up the car from but they do have the best prices and their cars are nice right in the Burbank airport. Because our car was in the shop for a transmission rebuild, we rented a FOX car through Priceline, for four days. But to our surprise, the shop called to say our car was finished WAY before their original estimate - so it turned out we didn't need a rental after all. Priceline WOULD NOT give us a cancellation or refund. Period. And Fox phoneline customer service people kept pointing us back to Priceline. Ultimately, I just went to the Burbank airport to pick up the rental car we had no use for. Explaining our situation at the Fox service booth, manager Crystal Peron stepped in and actually called Priceline to force the cancellation and refund. Amazing! I cannot recall when a business had treated the customer so poorly and with such disdain. The car I was given at Burbank Airport had damage on every surface and a broken headlight. It looked like something from Rent-a-Wreck. I said I would not drive this car which could subject me to a traffic citation, so I asked for a different vehicle. The desk agent said there were no other vehicles in my price category, and that I would need to pay for an upgrade. My mouth dropped. He wanted me to pay for something that was entirely their fault. I asked for the manager. His name is Adel and he repeated the same response: I could take the damaged car or pay for an upgrade. Words went back and forth, and as a result they voided my contract and sent me on my way without a car. I walked a few steps to THRIFTY, and they quickly rented me a nice new undamaged car for just a few dollars more than FOX. I recall another issue with the same FOX location in the past where I reserved a sedan and they gave me a small hatchback. They claimed it was the same category, but it clearly wasn't. For a larger car, they wanted me to pay for an upgrade. This location does not treat the customer with concern or respect. RENTER BEWARE OF TYTUS. The Fox representative named Tytus at the Fox rental car location at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, CA should not be employed here if Fox wants repeat business. Below is the email I sent to Fox customer service about the incident. Hello, I recently had a HORRIBLE experience with the Fox rep Tytus at your Bob Hope Airport location. I was speaking with him to try and clear up an issue with various charges on a bill and he kept cutting me off saying in a raised voice, "You need to stop talking. You got your turn to talk, now it's my turn." When I tried to explain that what I was trying to tell him was relevant to resolving the issue he kept cutting me off. I was eventually exasperated by his behaviour and said, "Sir I don't understand why you're being so rude to me." He then said, "YOU'RE being rude " and continued to make rude remarks all completely unhelpful to the situation.
