If you can avoid the airport facility, I'd advise it. FOX (don't know about other providers) added well over $100 of additional "facility fees". Which is bull, that should have been included in the original quote. But, they want to suck you into the contract. We asked to cancel the contract and because we used Expedia (FOX doesn't make it easy to rent directly thru them), we were told we'd have to talk to Expedia and hope for a refund. I feel sorry for O'Hare travellers, FOX is definitely preying on a relatively captive customer base. Get ALL the fees in advance if you can. This is a super clean part of the terminal at O'Hare airport where the car rentals are and you have many choices here and a free air train comes here. It's very modern. It's brightly lit. It's very safe and I love the choice of different car rentals here. And when you take the air train, you can connect to all the terminals, including the CTA blue line to downtown and other areas of Chicago for $5 five dollars coming from the airport, but any other ride in Chicago is $2.50 per ride. read more

FRAUD ALERT: AVOID THIS COMPANY COMPLETELY They will charge you for smoking fees even if you didn't smoke. They will charge you $492 and not tell you about the charge to try to hide it from you. I don't smoke. They're trying to finance their car detailing and make profit by pretending the final charges are the final charges and then later adding the charge with no notification from them. The employee name documented in this fraud is Maureen C in conjunction with the manager on duty 11/25. The car is noted 11/18 for detail (Not when I dropped off the car at all) and then in documentation 11/25/25 which is also not when I dropped off the car. 11/18 I wasn't even in the country. My rental began much later in that week. I had to call a Philippines hotline to find out what the charge was even about and they emailed me the charge details. I'll provide the photo of the employee and supposed car. Additionally, the car in the photo is grey despite the car I rented being white. The hotline refuses to give contact info to the actual ORD center but promises to email them. You have no way to dispute with them. I will contact an attorney. Additionally, this company tries to get you to sign off on all damages to the vehicle before driving off. This too is fraudulent. VIDEO RECORD ALL EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WITH THE EMPLOYEE PRESENT. Plenty of exterior damage was present and the employee tries to get you to sign off on no damage being present so they can use your credit card for charges to their damaged exteriors and interiors. Honestly a great rental car facility. The only downside is it can be a journey from the airport but they have a free train that stops right at the center. It is extremely easy to get in and out of this place. It is also extremely quick to get your car. The only recommendation I'd give is to triple check that the place you are renting from is within this giant building. There are a few that are not in this building and require you to take another shuttle to get your car. read more

Had she done so we wouldn't have added it on. We requested an infant car seat and they gave us an expired Evenflo infant seat with no base and no 5 point harness to safely secure the baby. 2025 Review: Tried them again. Ordered a full-size SUV via priceline. Got through long Fox Rental line to find out they had NO SUVs. They claimed a recall on VW which comprise 99% of their SUVs had grounded their cars. So now, I had traveled from FL to Chicago to pick up my three kids under 9 years old, and they want to give me a Toyota Camry that I can't even fit the car seats in?!?! AND charge me SUV price? To go to another rental company at that point was going to cost me 4x (about $1800) what I paid on priceline, AND I had about 4 hours to make it out of the airport and to Rockford to pick them up. So I had no choice but to take the Camry. The entire trip was more stressful and the car rides less enjoyable because Fox wasn't prepared to handle (or compensate for) something like this. Will NEVER use again. 2024 Review: My reservation was O'hare. LONG tram ride to rental counter. SLOW assistance (other rental counter's lines were moving quickly or they didn't have lines). Declined toll service because I had Ipass and added the rental license plate to my account. Tolls in the MIDDLE of the rental period were someone missed (Illinois Tollway's fault) but even after I provided EVIDENCE, Fox still tried to charge me $80 for $11 in tolls. The customer service was extremely poor. I read a lot of the comments or I should say reviews prior and I try to avoid making judgments based on them. But even when I got off the plane in Chicago, there was nobody online & the actual front desk clerk was talking to someone on his cell phone laughing, having a ball while I'm standing there with my bag in hand! I'm also handicapped and I'm wondering when is this guy gonna help me? At that point I realized that just about every negative review has a lot of validity. Then as I was going to the vehicle, it already had three dents in the car and I felt really uneasy about it, but I was in such a rush because of how long I had to wait for the front desk clerk to get off of his phone, I decided to take the car. So while I was in the parking lot where all the vehicles were, there was some light skin gentleman who can pass for a Latino. (I say this because I'm Latino myself) He was extremely jittery and came off like he was on cocaine. I say this because I have family members who wrestled with this and it was pretty obvious even with the movement of his jaw. This gentleman was extremely aggressive and was telling me to move my vehicle when I had to stop by the section they had in the airport parking lot to speak to the rep. I had never been to Chicago before so I was a bit anxious and just wanted a little bit of clarity and also some information on how to use the vehicle because no one told me how to use it. There was a lot of things inside of the car that I had no knowledge of using. I ask him, "hey are you OK?" He says "hey are you OK??" In an extremely sarcastic and disrespectful manner. So I told him I said "listen you should learn to have some respect. I'm a customer!". He then tells me "You should learn with a park!!" & honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that I had somewhere to go, he got so nasty that I was tinkering on, possibly getting out the vehicle & punching him in his face. I rented a car from fox rental for my trip to San Diego to visit my daughter. I rented the car with help from Expedia. My flight was cancelled by the airline so I cancelled the rental as well. First through Expedia then through Fox. Both said I would receive a refund. Weeks passed and no refund. I emailed my cancellation notice when prompted to and still nothing. Then I was told I need a personal note or email proving the cancellation. This item doesn't exist. So I paid for a rental that I didn't use. We rented a car with Sixt and when we arrived at O'Hare we jumped on the train to take us to the rental car area. Easy commute and clean toilets made it a breeze. We made our way up to the Sixt booth and found out we should have checked in at a desk below. There were a row of suitcases left by people who hit the same problem lined up by the booth while the attendant looked after them. Hubbs went down to do the check in while I stayed with our luggage. So if they could sort out this kink in the system it would be much better as tons of people were in the same situation, and it cost them a * off. Once we had the right papers the rest was easy and fast and we were very happy with our vehicle. We had expected a basic sedan which is what we signed up for but were given an older SUV which was perfect for a 3 hour drive to and from Electric Forest festival in Michigan in rainy conditions. It had onboard GPS which helped too. When we returned the process was very easy, the staff at Sixt very happy and friendly, and we were on our way to the gate asap. When we got to Fox car rental at Chicago O'Hare airport the customer service rep said she was upgrading us to an SUV at no added charge. She gave us 3 options of vehicle make a models to choose from. We made our choice. She asked if we wanted to purchase their insurance and I agreed, but then realized the insurance we purchased on Expedia coveted all we needed. The rep's demeanor changed. She gave us a slip of paper to hand in to get our keys and vehicle. They tried placing us in a vehicle unrelated to our choice. The manager got involved and told us it would be an up charge. He did not believe what 5 of us in my family heard from the rep that those were the 3 SUV's offered. He refused to give us any of the 3 choices previously offered or the one we chose of the 3. He was rude, had no empathy, poor communication skills, lack of care, said he couldn't get a hold of the customer rep whom we had met in person moments before who assigned the suv initially. He finally ended up giving us an suv, after I notified him I would be writing bad reviews and notifying others to not rent from this company, and I myself became clearly verbally upset at him, but it still was not one of the 3 SUV's initially given as choices or one initially assigned. read more

Rented a car from Fox which was perfectly fine until the return. I dropped the car off and halfway to the terminal via tram I realized I had left my wallet in the car. I rushed back, grabbed my wallet, and rushed back without checking since I was running late at that point. Once I was settled, I looked through my wallet and found that the employees had stolen the $22 dollars. I rented a car from Fox from 10/20/24 through 11/1/24. On 10/31/24 I was admitted to the hospital for emergency brain surgery on 10/31/24. My wife called the roadside assistance number on the key tag to come get the car from the hospital. When I received the invoice from Fox on 11/26, I noticed they had charged an additional $1,200.00 to my company credit card. When I called customer service they said my wife had approved towing fees. I explained that had she known it was going to be such an exorbitant amount, she would not have authorized. They were unwilling to work with me on this. How was it driving a Fox rent-a-car? I don't know, because they wouldn't let me rent one. We paid for our rental through Priceline, then when we got to their location, they had a sign up that said they won't accept debit cards anymore. We don't have credit cards. Keep in mind, we had already PAID for our rental. With a debit card. They wanted a credit card for a deposit, but wouldn't accept the card we had paid with. They should not be allowed on Priceline if you can't get the car with the card you paid with. Despite the negative ratings, my experience with Fox was fine. Located offsite away from O'Hare. You have to take a shuttle from the airport to get here. They have shuttles running 24/7. I dropped off my car at 5 am and the shuttle was waiting for me. Make sure you take the correct terminal bus. I booked my reservation online prior to my arrival. No real wait when I got to the check in desk. Took the normal 10-15 minutes processing. Walking the lot to get to the car was a little unorganized. After I found our car, we were in and out pretty fast. Drop off was easy. Filled my tank about 20 miles away and drove in fine. The fill up price they charge is on par or cheaper then what you find in the city. Do your research on pricing before. Might be a better deal to let them fill it up. read more

I don't know about others but I had the best experience with them. 1. It was cheap, I booked an economy car and sure it was a small car but it was affordable and getting the car was not a big hassle. The staff was a bit slow but that just depends on the person you get for the service. 2. I had to extend my car for 1 week more and I was able to do it easily from their website. No calls nothing. 5 mins and my car stay is extended. 3. I had to extend my car for another week and same thing no hassle and no extra fees or charges, actually got the same rate! 4. Return was easy, the staff even gave directions to the airport shuttle. I would recommend them if you want something affordable, they may have luxury or full-size cars but I would not know. read more

Normally In this situation a rental car company would upgrade you for free if an upgrade was available or book you at a different company if not (both are standard practice). Neither options were offered. I asked and was denied. I was told I could either wait the approximately 2 hours they hope a car would be there (with 4 others waiting ahead of me on a waitlist) with no guarantees, or cancel my reservation, hopefully get the money I paid back and rent elsewhere. I had no real choice but to book with a competitor at higher same day rates. I would never rent from this company again, and would urge anyone thinking about it to not rent with them. In September I used Priceline to book a car rental for Christmas. I'd seen reviews about how long it takes to get the car once you're in line- so I got there early. During the check in process- the desk person was like, you can't take this car past the state line of any state touching IL. Because I was planning to take the car to Florida, this was a big problem. So, I ask what the fines are if I did. They said that the car would be reported as stolen (based on GPS tracking info). Then the manager jumped in and said she couldn't let me take the car, knowing I was planning to take the car to Florida. She said, it was a $60k vehicle and it can't have that kind of mileage put on it (I'd reserved a minivan). The whole thing experience really put me off of Fox. First because the manager's attitude- like the they're granting a favor to be rent a car from them and that it was too big of an ask to take the car to Florida- which hasn't moved since we parked it. And she acted like I was trying to put that kind of mileage on a rare, vintage car and not their very basic minivan. It worked out- I got a same-day rental from Enterprise. It was wes up being a lot more than I was originally going to pay. The process couldn't have been more easy and wonderful. The sad thing is- that I'd been wanting to try Fox rental- I'd seen them come up in search results and was curious. But since I am mostly renting cars for long distance trips- the only thing gained from this experience is that I'll never rent from Fox. Ever. read more

She had me sign all the forms and when we got to payment I asked again to confirm if the cost includes the IPass which she said YES and confirmed. It's now two months later and I am receiving toll violations. I was quite nervous with the negative reviews but I had an easy time with Fox. I did get in earlier than I thought and the desk folks said I should wait to check in so I wouldn't be charged extra. The return was confusing as which lane to drive in to on level 2 but got there and the return process was quick. Make sure you fill it up and realize they only let you go to states that border IL. There was a labyrinth checking in to go to MI which they said was a no no. Also realize if you pay ahead there is no cancelling and if you return early you can get charged. READ all the disclosures!
