No one at the counter when I arrived; line 8 people deep in cold garage when figured out where to go; team members were lazy and talking to one another about personal lives; car was filthy; car had a check engine light on and car had no snow/ice scraper which is necessary for December in Chicago. I won't ever use Fox Rent A Car again. The line was absurdly long, to the point I had to wait in it for about 90 mins. Then when I got to the front, the associate told me my reservation had expired by 6 minutes, and there was nothing he could do about it because his manager was not answering the phone. I won't use Fox again, but if they want to fix their business, they need better staffing, a more efficient check-out system, and a flexible reservation expiration policy that allows their staff to waive expirations for people who have been waiting in line forever. Alternately, their staffer on-site could have announced to the line that there was an expiration policy, and that anyone whose reservation was about to expire should go look to rent a car somewhere else. Fox rent-a car horrible, paid for the rental in a package deal Priceline. Paid for an upgrade to a medium SUV, not what we received, got a Ford Ecco could not fit 4 people in this vehicle because had to put the back seat down for luggage. Also the first Ford Ecco they gave us the brakes were grinding so loud, we had to request a different vehicle. Also they would not accept debit card when we arrived at desk, which is strange because that is what we paid for the trip on Priceline with. Positive was the woman trying to do it all herself was very friendly. This was at Fox Rental O'Hare airport chicago Il. A reservation is made for a purpose! To plan your business and be efficient! The line was to the door, 2 associates working one disappeared! I have been in line 30 minutes and am only half way to the line! This is unacceptable! Poor, poor service and company planning. Having an associate come out and apologize for the wait isn't the answer! Don't over book! Only having 3 computers isn't an answer, and that's what the associate came out and told us. This place is a dive. Here comes another story about this stupid company not accepting debit cards when you pick up your rental. Oh, paying in advance and taking my money with a debit is fine but you can't accept one when I pick up the car? How about you just take a large deposit out of my account instead like any other sane rental company? We canceled on the spot and went with Sixt next door. Besides accepting debit cards, they actually have professionals working there who provided great service. We encountered a problem with our car - windshield wipers weren't working and there was rain coming - and upon returning the car we were upgraded from an Altima to a BMW X1. Horrible experience, bad customer servive, long wait and a trashy car! I arrived there around 1:40 pm, waited in a line of 4 people till 2:30 pm and they gave me a horrible car. I paid upfront for a full size sedan and they said they don't have any sedans instead they gave me a trashy broken outlander and when i asked about this the guy at the desk told me " That's what we have, do you wanna wait?" Well I took the car and when I was driving on the freeway the car starts shaking when I go above 40 mph! I called the only number that they have (which is a general number not for the airport location) and the lady over the phone said that my only option is either to call roadside assistance or try to take it back to the O'hare location but she didn't give me any guarantees that they can give me another one. I used Fox Rent A Car for a trip to Indiana I was taking from California and needed to drive the rest of the way from OHare at the end of July. I was greeted right away and then waited about 5 minutes for the other customer to be helped and then I was helped by a a wonderful woman (I'm sorry I can't remember her name). I was a little stressed and frazzled from my travels and the staff was very helpful and even gave me a free tank of gas at the return for me having to wait while the other customer was being helped! If I could leave zero stars, I would. It has been an absolutely horrendous experience trying to rent a car from Fox, and we ended up canceling due to the awful customer service and false advertising. As we are getting situated, the lady at the counter was talking so quietly we couldn't hear her. Which is incredibly disrespectful to the hearing impaired (which we are). They also tried to make it seem as if it was our fault we couldn't hear her. She also tried to make it seem as if we HAD to pay for insurance. Which we already have, so it would be useless. When we finally go to pay. We find out, we can't use debit cards. (NO WHERE WAS IT LISTED ON PRICELINE) A family member had paid for the car, through Priceline, and then gave us the card for confirmation (she wasn't on the trip with us). So we went to use the credit card she gave us. Even though it was the card we used through Priceline, they wouldn't let us use it, since the person who's driving, name wasn't on it. The issue is we don't have another credit card and they wouldn't take debit. After trying so many times, it locks you out of the system. So we wouldn't be able to rent from them for 24 hrs. Luckily, we were able to get help from Alomo, who had spectacular customer service. read more

ABSOLUTE worst rental experience I have EVER had. I rented a vehicle for a week from them because Enterprise (where I am an Enterprise Plus Elite Platinum member...I and my small business rent cars EVERY day of the year, I know how the rental process works) was out of SUV's anywhere close and Fox seemed to have nice vehicles at fair rates. I rented from the Ohare terminal, we ended up needing the vehicle 3 extra days and called their customer service/800 number to let them know we'd be bringing the vehicle back on Monday instead of Friday and to make sure the rental rate wouldn't fluctuate too crazily...we were told that was fine and that there would be no increase in our daily rate. We returned the vehicle to the Ohare terminal and everything went smoothly. I signed a final bill with the additional days included and asked the nice man checking me out in the return line if that was everythqs far as the billing etc....he affirmed that it was and my wife and myself left feeling we had had a good experience and found a new backup rental co we could use again in the future. ... Fast forward to 3 weeks and I'm getting calls from a very aggressive bill collector (ala the movie BoilerRoom) from Fox Rental telling me I owe them 78$ for late fees... I respectfully disagree with her the first few times we spoke and reiterated that we had called and let them know we'd have it until Monday, nobody EVER told us anything about late fees during the phone call OR when I signed out the final invoice for the rental when I returned it. The bill collector from Fox Rent A Car was less than friendly or customer service related to say the least. She then decided to call my wife's phone and proceeded to have a threatening tone and conversation with her...Two days later she called my place of business (not knowing that our family owns it) and was equally disrespectful and threatening.... This is ALL over late fees that were falsely charged to us... I have never been more disrespected by a rental transaction, or a business transaction in my life...it was like I was dealing with a character from BoilerRoom...zero professionalism...zero customer service skills.... absolutely HORRIBLE experience with this company. We feel like they've scammed us out of money. Just say that my interaction and business transaction with them has left a bad taste in my mouth would be an understatement... We had a reservation for 7pm. Our flight was delayed. We arrived at the rental counter at 10:30 pm local time. The rental counter was CLOSED. There were no Fox employees anywhere in the building or garage. We called the 24 hour customer "no"service number at got the looping greeting recording no matter what option was selected, even #3 which is to report an accident! No where. I tried to call to confirm my res yesterday and I couldn't get a human to talk to me. They say there are trackers on the car and they'll charge me $2000 if I take it to Arkansas. The next cheapest SUV available this moment is $850. So I guess I'll take myself two hours back home. And then we'll fit all our shit in our Prius. And hope that it can handle the mountains. At 10pm that night went to pick up car and got told by clerk they had no cars for me since I only made the reservation that morning. Rented a car for $57 that was listed for $33 through Expedia. Get in line to retrieve car. The black guy says, your total will be $207 because we hold $150.00 I agreed and inserted my card. He says oh you are using a debit card it will be $400 to hold instead of $150 so I decline and head back to my room using UBER. I get to my room to order food and the funds were gone! I Uber back to Fox car rental to ask them to fax a letter to my bank to show that the funds were indeed reversed. Cody gives me a print out and says see it was reversed. I said great! Fax it to my bank. He has no option to fax. He offered me the number to customer service. So I'm standing there waiting for the number but he is typing away (I assume how he feels about serving me). I said what is the number? He says hold on. Cody Still typing! He finally gives me the number. So I call. He says stand to side while I help the next customer. I said you are helping me right. Update: It's been over a month since I reached out to the customer service option they left below. Guess what? They've done nothing and have ghosted me for three weeks. They're immoral thieves. I've waited over a month (five weeks)to post a review waiting for the situation to rectify. A pair of sunglasses was left in the rental, and I purchased the label I was told to in order for them to send the glasses back to me. That was over a month ago, and it's been excuse after excuse. Filthy cars! When you arrive they only have huge filthy vans. The Chicago location the employees at the counter are rude. There are usually 3-4 of them at the counter eating or chatting amping at themselves making customers wait while they eat and talk. The last car I got the floor was full of crackers, it was missing a headrest, no windshield wiper fluid, a huge stain on the seat. It was a huge red van when I had reserved a compact car. DO NOT go to Fox rental. Absolute garbage customer service. The line was extremely long and there was only one woman helping. She seemed kind from what I heard when she was helping other customers. BUT there was another woman named JOANNE who was just sitting at the desk being useless and looking down at her phone. Someone asked if she can help and she said she was on break. Go take your break elsewhere like a professional and come out to assist when your break is done. When her "break" was done and she called up the next customer, you can just tell right away that she was in a shit mood. She looked just as miserable as her attitude. No smile. No friendly greeting. She asked me if I'm driving the car outside of Illinois. I told her I will be driving it to Michigan and she said I am not allowed. I said ok then I will drive it to my cousins home and use it in Illinois until I leave Friday. I mentioned I will borrow my cousins car to drive to Michigan. She refused to give me the rental and cancelled my reservation. She said you can contact Priceline to deal with it. She didn't even take my word that I would not use it to drive to Michigan but that I still need it while I'm in Illinois. She didn't even care to assist me beyond that with possibly another car that they would allow to drive out of state. She just handed me back my cards and called the next person. It was 9pm and I had to figure out another rental. The men to the left of Fox heard the conversation and called us right over to assist kindly. I believe the company was sixt? I recommend booking with them because clearly their customer service and kindness will help you out stress free. They saw us in distress and wanted to assist right away. Joanne from Fox rental life must really suck because it shows in her attitude, which is clearly affecting her work and making this company lose customers. I travel frequently and I will NEVER book through Fox again. She does not deserve to have this job, let alone be in the customer service career at all. Returned our car a few hours early and a guy came up to us asking for the keys, we told him they were inside and then he just said "great! You're all set I'll email you a receipt"... my husband and i thought it was odd but continued on our way. He never got a receipt... and then we started to panic, hoping they wouldn't charge us for random things like some reviews we'd read. STAY AWAY!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!Currently renting a car from Fox.... never again. The car is all dinged up and all the seats have stains on them. The early return/late return policy is BS. I'm in town because my father was having open heart surgery. There were complications and he almost died. I needed to extend my reservation by a day.... paid a third of what I paid for five days, just for the one day. No one answers the phone when you try and call CS, you have to use the online chat and its unavailable half the time. So I'm driving the hour and half to Ohare in the morning to drop the car off and rent one from a better company. I should have checked the reviews before I did so cuz they are bad enough to scare anyone off..... and extremely accurate. Stay away from this company. It's worth spending the extra few dollars a day to go to another one. Update: Took car back. Booked a new rental through Priceline and got a brand new, beautiful Camry with less than 2500 miles on it from Hertz for $3.40 less a day than I paid through Fox.... half the deposit too.
