I agree with Jennifer above. These guys have many aliases, if that is what you want to call it. They are known as Fox Valley Appliance and Oswego Appliance Service. I called Oswego Appliance Service but got a receipt for Fox Valley Appliance. The numbers they have are (630)554-5545, (630) 907-0903, (630)896-3300. I will be asking for my money back (probably won't get it) from the so called appliance repair experts. My refrigerator was no longer cooling and I had ice forming on the inside of the freezer section. Not only did they take my money ($135 for weekend/emergency service) but did nothing but tell me to unplug and defrost which he could have done over the phone. He said he couldn't work on it because the control board where the defrost circuit would be is in the back of the fridge and I have to defrost first. Fine. Ok. But couldn't he have told me that over the phone? Whatever... Where this get's bad and where I get upset is when I kept asking what it could be that causes the clicking at the top-front of my fridge and if it could be tied to the defrosting issue I'm having. I was told that I wasn't correct in where I was hearing the noise, and that it was the overload relay at the back of the fridge I was hearing. I argued that the noise wasn't coming from the back of the fridge and that I knew what the overload relay sounds like when there are issue since I've had it replaced twice. So, for the second time (first time by Amco Appliance) I was dismissed as I didn't know what I was talking about... :/ When they called me back they stated that I needed a control board that would cost me $200 and it would cost me $120/hr in labor. Whoa!!! Now I'm thinking that I should just buy new since my fridge is 10 yrs. old. Luckily I didn't. Why? Because I decided something wasn't right with what these so called experts where telling me. I looked up my fridge at searspartsdirect.com and found that my Kenmore has NO circuit board of any kind at the back of the fridge. I took a close look at what they call the 'controls' section which is at the top-front of the fridge and guess what. Yep! there is a little circuit board in there with a relay that is called the Defrost Timer. Huh? Ya think it MIGHT have something to do with what was wrong with my fridge? The service guy obviously didn't think so! I bought that part for $81.68 + S&H for a total of $101, NOT $200! I don't know what kinda scam they were trying to pull here. They had the same model number I have. Needless to say my fridge is working now with out their help though they have $135 of my money. Luckily I wasn't so stupid to listen to them. read more

Be aware, this place is a scam. You will notice that when you do a search for their company name, there are multiple Fox Valley Appliances listed with different addresses and different phone numbers. They all go to the same guy, (the repair tech). I then noticed that the repair tech wrote a 5 star reviews for his own service on both companies; he is trying to improve his poor ratings so he can continue on scamming people. I'm just going to start out with the fact that I DO NOT have too much time on my hands to make a YELP post as many others have said. Im simply commenting because I am frustrated beyond belief and do not want to see others waste their hard earned money. I had CJ come out the day after Christmas to diagnose why my GE refrigerator was freezing/frosting up. He spent about 45 mins thawing my freezer while rambling on and on about information irrelevant to me. After the fact it is my opinion that this was his way to rack up the hourly fee. Anyway, his fix lasted 31 days. Well they only cover it for 30. He then came out stating it was another issue of which was initially covered but once he was here it was not. He explained I had dog hair in the vent and that was affecting the cooling of the freezer. I felt it was complete BS. Sure enough over the next month I proceed to defrost my freezer 3 more times and eventually call a GE repairman (which I should've done in the first place but wanted to help the local businessman...HA!). GE man comes out and it's a $15 sensor which with labor cost me $75! And by the way the "dog hair" theory is a total crock. I have never posted a YELP review in my life. I'm soooo furious that I had this guy come out 2 times and wasted money. Yes it's my fault but as an honest and ethical businessman myself I expect reciprocation. I gave $400 to a guy that was unbelievably wrong with his diagnosis. Oh yeah, he also said to never call GE because they won't come out for 2 weeks.....try 2 days. Anyway that's my rant. Never call these guys. Biggest rip off ever. 200 dollars and no ice. Had to wait two months to even get them to return after they had made me give a deposit. They say it will cost another 200 because the part they replaced wasn't the problem. Their address is just a post office box at an ups store. I will inform the better business office and hopefully put these thieves out of buisness. read more

I agree with both reviewers. I had them come out and I spoke to a service tech who charged me $90.00 fr a service call and then didn't do anything but tell me it was broken and it might be this part and it would take him two hours to repair or I could do the repair myself and that was to defrost my freezer. I tried that and it was still broken and I also replaced a mother board because he said it was problem that as well. I had to have another company come out and fix the fridge it was a defrost control. I called FVA and they are not going to refund my money and he went on to say the appliance repair person I had come out was not a true service person. I had been taken and they are not going to give me back my money. This company is a joke do not call them for any service. If they had a half star it would be marked. biggest rip off! I just paid $360 for a guy (CJ) to clean the coils in 2 refrigerators. They did NOT explain the charges well on the phone, and the guy basically was here telling stories only to charge labor for 1.5 hours where in fact the work itself did not take longer than 30 minutes. Should have put up with the long wait of Sears or someone else and not fall into this trap. read more

Fox Valley Appliance (630) 896-3300. Came out same day. Said I needed to pay $300 in advance for parts + $120 for the guy to tell me what part was needed. I didn't receive 1 phone call in the next 7 weeks. I called weekly for updates.. Again - no phone calls from them. When parts came in - they needed 2 weeks to schedule the work. Guy came out and totally fumbled the job.. using a chisel and saw at one point to "work on my gas line".. Told me he needed to order another part to fix it and wanted me to pay in advance again.. No thanks I said and asked him to leave. After asking 3 times he left. Paid $420. Waited 7 weeks. Still broken. But learned a very valuable lesson and I'm on a quest to tell all. read more

Please don't even think about calling this "business". It's even silly to call it a business since it's one (really creepy) guy taking calls from his house. I called here on a Saturday and a guy answers, "hello?" So I ask, "Is this Oswego repair?" (and yes he has different aliases) He says, "yes, what do you need?" I explain the problem with my refrigerator being warmer than outside temps and he proceeds to give me an entire lesson on why my fridge cannot be broken if the freezer is working. Finally, I am forced to say, "ok but I wouldn't have called you if it worked, so there must be an issue." He says he'll come out. And he does, much to the dismay of the entire household. He comes in, charges 90 dollars, talks and talks and talks and says it needs to be "cleaned" and refuses to do it himself. I purchase an expensive compressor and clean the fridge. After 6 or so hours I call back and tell him it still isn't working, in fact it's still the same temperature it was earlier. He calls me stupid (which is a laugh considering the guy has difficulty putting a coherent sentence together) and tells me I don't know what I'm talking about. He states, "It takes 48 hours to stabilize." Stabilize??? Seriously?? Well, next day, needless to say, I brought in a reputable repairman (referral) and the fridge has a broken vent. So. I am not giving these scammers any Stars because that is what they are. Refrigerator was not defrosting,called them and they came out and said there is nothing wrong with it charged me 90.00 service fee and to call back it it happens again,and if they come out they will not charge another service fee. Well called back today for the same problem frig. Icing up again and they said they can't come out for a week or more and if they do it will be another service charge. I had him out for air conditioning repair..... He had part of my unit for almost 3 weeks...... I called and asked for my deposit and my parts back because he was taking too long!! He started cussing and screaming at me and would not give my stuff back. He said Head complete the job the next day... He did... The estimate was 300-400$ Ended up being $867.00!!!!!!!!!!! I would not give this guy even one star. I called him to help my son and daughter-in-law. After showing up hours late, he looked the fridge over (while non stop talking about his wife, son, and himself), and stated the mother board needed to be replaced. He asked for a $300 deposit to order the part, and said he would call when it came in. He came back a week later to install the part, and said we needed to clean underneath the fridge with a compressor, since they have pets, but would not do it himself. Within a week of installing the mother board, the fridge was doing the same thing. My son scheduled an appointment with this guy, and when he didn't show up, my son called him. He told my son to unplug the fridge for a while, then plug it back in. It didn't work! We called this guy again and scheduled an appointment. When he didn't show up, my son called him, and he stated there wasn't anything he could do, there was no point in even showing up! REALLY!!!! Then why schedule an appointment? I took off work three separate days to wait for this guy, and paid $459, and the fridge still doesn't work! We would NEVER recommend this guy to anyone! read more
