Came to Frame on a whim for their farmBAR menu from Grand Rapids chef Evan Edwards. Food was great and creative. Lots of interesting combinations. The nature of Frame is rotating chefs and menu, so today's menu was unique and delicious. Service was strong and friendly with attention paid to food allergies and dietary restrictions.

First off, we booked the Alice in Wonderland event for dinner. Upon making the reservation, we were asked about dietary restrictions or allergies. I immediately replied that there was a party member with a dairy and lavender allergy. Upon arriving, we were confirmed by the wait staff that there was an allergy. Everything seemed fine, per an establishment of this nature. As the second course was served, the allergy patron was served the third course as the second course was unable to have the allergen removed. We thought that for the price, and for the type of establishment, serving the same course twice was a bit tacky, especially since allergy information was shared over a month in advance, but ok, we'll roll with it. When the third course was brought out, the allergen patron noticed that her salad looked different this time. Immediately the waiter realized he gave her one with the cheese spread. Had the allergen patron not just had the same exact dish, she never would have known. We understood mistakes happen, but were disappointed that we had to catch the concern. When the fourth course is brought out, the allergen patron is AGAIN served a dangerous dish, that we had to alert and catch the waitress that put it out. At this point, I stood up in frustration, and demanded to speak to a manager. At this point, I am approached by one of the staff, and he asked what was wrong. I requested that we speak outside. We stepped out of the tent to not disturb other guests, and I explained the whole situation. At this time, the staff member (whom I later found out to be Sean C., the food and beverage director) tells me that Frame does not offer any menu substitutions. After some more discussion, he offered to help us at a later time to find a better event for us. I later approached him again and asked how, if they don't offer substitutions they can ensure the safety of their patrons. He told me then, that all the information was available when we made the reservation. Still frustrated, and completely not willing to risk our health or a trip to the ER that night, we left before the event was over. Upon returning home, I pulled up all the information, the event description, menu, and all correspondence. There is nowhere that I found on the menu or event information is a full ingredient list or allergen warning. In addition, There is nowhere that I found that says there are no "substitutions". Apparently, as customers, we are all expected to know if the chef used butter in her pan or oil, and which type of oil that was, or what items she added in to the parts of the dish. The irony, is that Frame made the substitutions. Course 3 for course 2, Course 3 with no cheese spread, course 4 with pasta in place of grits with cheese in them. The problem for Frame is that they couldn't deliver the right plate to the right table, and then their excuse for that was that they don't offer substitutions (or apparently provide a full ingredient list or allergen warning menu). Based on my experience, I can't understand how an establishment can run this way. It's my opinion that if the policy is to not allow substitutions, then they failed at properly informing the public about allergen exposure at their establishment. Even when they did try to accommodate, their staff was unable to deliver the proper dish twice without being told by the patrons. At this point, I have to believe that the stated policies are more about avoiding any responsibility, than any real documented and enforced policy. I don't know if Sean C. fully knew what he was talking about, but I can find no information communicated through reservation or website that confirms what he told me at the event. TLDR: I paid $268 for my guest to almost be poisoned twice by giving them the wrong plate, and a company Director pretty much said, "Oh well". If you have any dietary restrictions or allergens, avoid at all costs, they act like they don't care about your safety.

Rows of picnic tables were perfect for the fried chicken pop-up. The weather was a bit chilly but the gas heaters kept us very comfortable.

A friend and I have not been able to continue our Fried Chicken Odyssey during the pandemic - we had only seen each other twice, briefly, over a six month period. However, she found a creative way to celebrate my birthday and satisfy our mutual fried chicken cravings. For a short period, Frame offered a fried chicken pop-up. A bucket of fried chicken with yummy fixings was available for at-home or on-the-patio dining. For the latter, picnic tables placed apart from each other, and plastic partitions were set up to help guests feel comfortable. As we waited, the delicious fried chicken aromas wafted from the kitchen teasing us with the promise of a great meal. After a brief introduction where the host and the chef spoke about this and future events, buckets of chicken and trays of sides arrived at our tables. We each had 4 pieces: a thigh, a leg, a breast/wing combo, and a breast. The chicken was marinated in McClure's pickle brine prior to coating and frying. As a result, the chicken was juicy and tasty, and the coating was crunchy and perfectly seasoned. We were so happy. My friend enjoyed the old-fashioned potato salad; I liked the coleslaw. We both loved the peach cobbler with a scoop of Ray's ice cream. It was such a wonderful way to catch up with a friend. The weather was pleasant; it was a perfect September evening, just slightly cool. Gas lamps helped to keep us warm. Service was quick and professional.

Now that I've been to two Frame events -- I figured I'd drop some tips on Yelp! I'm not going to review the menus/food/chefs because well it changes with each experience. *When you arrive, you enter through JoeBar & usually VERY promptly @ your seating time, the beverage director will open the door (it's the door near the two WCs) and call folks in to seat them. *Three long rows of tables - depending on the event, you might be pretty packed in so get friendly with your neighbors (or don't!) *Usually once you're seated, there's about 30 minutes where the servers take drink orders etc. SO plan accordingly -- eat a snack before if you're at a 8:30pm seating because you're not going to eat until at least after 9pm. *Speaking of drinks, they typically only have 1 bartender for the event so it may take a while for your bevvie. I also recommend that you pay for the beverage pairing (you can buy one and share!) because they have a la carte options but often times the set beverage pairing is NOT on the a la carte menu. *If you're a bit of a grandma like me, opt for the earlier seating. In my mind, the first seating is under the time pressure of finishing within 2 hours because they have a seating after. If you go to the last seating, there really isn't that urgency. Most recently, I went an event with a 4 course menu that took nearly 3 hours....WHEW. *Generally, getting ahold of the folks at Frame is pretty difficult. For one event, I had to change the day. There's no phone # anywhere & I tried messaging them on social media as well but that didn't work. Once they FINALLY responded to my email, they were super helpful BUT it took a while to actually get a response to my email. I appreciate Frame bringing amazing experiences to the mitten. I will continue to frequent as long as my wallet can support it!

Great New Year's celebration at Frame! We reserved the late seating (9:30 pm). Upon arrival, we were escorted to our table in the back. A string trio was already playing pop music. The bar was open behind us, and we each tried a specialty drink. After all the guests had arrived, the staff pulled open the sliding wall to reveal the kitchen and another wall opened to the wine bar. Service was well-paced and friendly. The courses were excellent, with the husband/wife team who were previously at Bacco. Each course came with an introduction from the chefs and a description of the wines from the sommelier. Highly recommend!

Cadre Brassiere was amazing. We attended the first seating, 5:30 Thursday to celebrate my birthday. It was so perfectly decorated and the food courses from French onion soup, greens, salmon tartar and then Steak Frites...finished with a beautiful creme Brule. The chef came and checked on us, as did the attendants. Perfect service! We will be back.

What's included? "Plus time with... Ilan Hall and ...". Top Chef winner Hall was MIA today, and yesterday, and they still sold tkts

This is very hard review to write because the vegan ramen event was some of the best food I've ever eaten. But what they did, the bait and switch, isn't just unethical, it's actually illegal. We bought our tickets Sunday morning for the 3:00pM Sunday seating and they were well aware at this point that they did not have Ilan Hall present. (See pic of how they advertised. "what's included: time with Ilan Hall and ...". ). Hall, in fact, was not present Saturday either yet they stilll sold tickets to us Sunday morning as if he was. It's one thing if your celebrity doesn't show at the last minute and you have no control... then the marvelous food and a short explanation/apology at the event is all that's needed. But you canNOT sell tickets to a show you don't have. And the second billed chef was there but silent. No explanations, no apologies and not even "time with" this chef as stated in all advertising. Moreover, when I asked a waiter about Ilan Hall, he seemed to not know what I was talking about? So now I'm stuck looking at very tempting events they have coming up but you can expect future scamming.

Came on a Saturday evening for a vegetarian menu... I would give this place 3.5 stars. Parking: There is a parking lot shared with Mabel Gray. If not, there's plenty of street parking. Be kind and courteous to the residential houses with street parking. Service: Our reservation was at 6pm. We arrived 5 minutes late and the doors were still not opened. The restaurant is in the back behind Joebar. We did not actually start getting served until 6:45pm and lasted til 8pm. The chef gave an intro to each of the dishes. Service was good & water was constantly filled, but compared to Mabel Grey - it was just OK. They do have free coat check. Everyone has assigned seating Cost: It was $40/person plus $5 fee per ticket plus tax and tip for four dishes. An addl $30 if you did the wine tasting. Personally, I find this pricy for the quality of food we recieved. Ambiance: the place is very nicely decorated ; however, its all communal tables. This was unexpected and not super comfortable. Food: The food was just OK. The potato (main dish) was prob the best; however, it wasn't super unique. The size of the dishes were small and not very filling. The quality of ingredients were just OK as far as vegetarian food goes. My opinion is that this was fun to try once; however, I think Mabel Grey ($65/8 dishes) offers a more private, unique, artistic & better tasting experience for the $$.

Incredible experience. We went to Frame for their Valentine Day special dinner presented by Chefs Gabriel/Gabriela Botezan. It was such a fun and great date night. I would highly recommend such an up close experience with the chefs and their foods that they present. All the food and the drinks were incredible.

Frame is one of the best things to happen to metro detroit food world. It's a venue that allows you to pull up a seat to many different foodie experiences. They have classes with food experts, and just phenomenal dinners. Also they had an awesome curated picnic basket experience that I was lucky to be a recipient of for Mother's Day. I have never had a bad experience here, and have always got to discover some new chefs, and enjoy a delicious meal. Bonus their patio is wonderful, and I know they had a frame to go option for those uncomfortable eating out right now. I hope they are around for many years to come!

We came here for the Ramen Hood event, a vegan ramen event, and it was amazing!! We started off with an appetizer that was an imitation ahi tuna roll, which was little crispy bites filled with beets and avocado. The next appetizer was fried broccoli. Then the ramen came out and it had the most flavorful broth I have ever tasted and probably the best ramen noodles also. It came with a vegan egg, which was a little strange. Finally they brought out a matcha rice pudding donut. Overall a great experience!

What is the "overhead charge" when booking online, is that tip?

No - it's a deposit. They remove it from your bill after your meal.

Is social distancing available at this restaurant? Looking at previous reviews from last year they tend to pack people pretty close together...

I had tickets - 4 - to an event at frame. Since covid 19 the event was canceled but I was not refunded or informed of a new date. There is no phone number and they are ignoring my messages via social media and email. Anyone know how I can get ahold?

They are very responsive via e-mail.

Why is there no phone number for this location the service fee is a bit high and I wanted to know if there is a way to book per phone that is cheaper but can't find a phone number Does anyone have one for them?

Frame is inside the back room of LATIDO @ Joe Bar. Might be worth calling there to ask.

As we followed our greeter to our table I kept screaming in my mind "no no no no no not that table no!" and she sat us at a table in full blasting sun. Nevermind the fact that there was a whole shaded section in the back part of the patio area. The rest of my group said it was fine and a beam of sun slowly bore a hole through my chest. Drink orders were up. I ordered a fabulous cross between a Moscow Mule and a Mojito. A+++ for the drinks. Mine was loaded with fresh mint from their garden. Same grade for our waitress who explained the drinks in detail and ended with "ugh- are you sure you want to sit at this table straight in the sun?" The other two said it was fine. I was ready to move, but was out voted. She continued to check in regularly and brought extra water. Most items on the menu were hot. I considered the fish, but we all landed on appetizers and we would just bounce from place to place for bites and drinks. We ordered the charcuterie board and the lavender lemon whip with bread and cucumbers for the 3 of us. The charcuterie board was the large version and had minimal offerings. It wasn't full and pretty. It was little piles of each thing on a board. This one definitely wasn't making it into Better Homes and Gardens magazine. There was a little pile of mixed nuts, a little pile of lose green grapes, a little pile of lose red grapes - not all grapes pristine or large and none were on the vine. There were 3 little piles of cubed cheese and 2 types of sliced sausage and sliced pepperoni. There were 8 crackers that were wheat thin size. This matters because we had some onion jam on the board and a nice serving of mustard. There really wasn't anything to put them on except for the 8 little crackers. That part was weird. These weren't elevated offerings. I could have picked up any of these at Walmart. They were not elevated quality either. We also got a lavender lemon infused whip which was their answer to tzatziki sauce. It was excellent but again, we were given so much of the sauce without a bunch to put it on. The cucumbers were sliced lengthways and there was a lovely bread that tasted like sourdough. There was 6 pieces of bread, and these were not particularly large pieces. A lot more would have been needed to use all of the sauce they gave. The proportions were off. All together the bill was over $100 for the 3 drinks and appetizers. If I ever did go back I won't order food based on what I experienced. There are too many other great options within walking distance.

I let her know what was missing and she said it was her fault and asked if I wanted it fixed. I said yeah and she went and got a cold piece of cheese and slice of onion and put it on a plate and gave to me to put on my own burger. I'd expected a little bit better service and I'm certainly not someone who demands top tier service from every spot. Fries were crispy but needed some parm or an aioli sauce to dip in. Also minor note but I had some fries left on my plate and when she came to collect plates I had food in my mouth so I couldn't say anything but she took the plate and my fries! They should always ask if there's any food left on the plate. Burger was decent overall, but definitely nothing special. Environment was cool and I'm sure they have got some other delicious items on the menu but for the price paid and service received, I'd go somewhere else next time.

They were just opening up, but they let us sit at the bar while they got the restaurant ready for dinner. We all got drinks at the bar. I got The Final Rose drink. its's very pretty and not too strong. After sipping on the drinks, the host brought us to our table. Chris was our server that day. He was super friendly and answered all of our questions regarding the menu. Here's what we got: - Michigan lamb ragu (his) - Lobster and shrimp pad thai (mine) - Crab and shrimp cakes (share) - clam chowder (share) His family got some of the same items, but I can't remember the different items they got. The overall consensus though was that everything tasted fantastic. Coming from the Bay Area, I have high expectations when it comes to Asian food, so I was pleasantly surprised by how great the pad thai tasted. The clam chowder was creamy and delightful. The crab cakes were the perfect size and not teeny tiny. The lamb ragu was very well done also and my husband is a big fan of lamb so he really enjoyed his meal. Since we were there early, it was quiet which was nice. Would definitely return in the future the next time I am in Michigan.

From the moment we walked in, you could feel it. Great music, lively crowd, and just an overall fun atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. The food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing -- everything was plated beautifully and smelled even better. Even just watching dishes hit the tables around us had me planning what I'm ordering next time. What's cool is I'm actually in the area pretty often on Sundays because I go to a laundromat nearby, and it always looks like they're hosting a really solid brunch crowd. After seeing the vibe firsthand, I can definitely see that being a go-to brunch spot. They also keep things exciting throughout the week. Every Thursday at 7 PM, they host trivia with Jonathan from Quizzo -- six rounds covering different topics with chances to win prizes like gift cards. That's the kind of midweek plan that turns a regular Thursday into something to look forward to. And if that's not enough, axe throwing is part of the experience too, in partnership with Detroit Axe Ferndale. Axe throwing has seriously become one of the most fun social activities out right now, and having expert Axe Masters guide you through it makes it even better. There's nothing like that satisfying thunk when the axe hits the target. Between the food, the drinks, the games, and the overall energy, The Corner Grill is more than just a bar and grill -- it's an experience. Definitely a spot I'll be back to.

The food is not the main attraction here, but we thought it was surprisingly pretty good. The burger was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The garlic green beans were delicious, but the portion size was comical. There were seven tiny green beans on the plate. We did order a second round to get our fill of veggies. They have a "gamemaster" who helps you select from the hundreds of games they have available. You can reserve a game table online in advance for $3 per person and that reserves you two hours of game play time. The restrooms are a little nightmarish. Literally in a dark, damp basement. Other than that, really enjoyed our evening here.
