This is a gem! It's black owned the food is good and the DJ and crowd is as well. My husband and I felt at home here. Coming from Cali to the D was dope AF! Cajun seafood pasta was on hit!

Hate it here it's always a business that looks like me

Lmao customer service is a negative zero I see why I haven't been lost pandemic my drink spilled after ordering it he didn't have any urgency to replace the drink I literally had to reorder the drink I hate this black owned business for the culture because what is the reason ?! And cover being $20.00 and having drinks start at $20.00 is diabolical and the menu should be updated because the Roxie's they ring and menu differ vastly and it's such a nuisance. Please close and restructure because it's giving bankrupt with the doors open eyuckkkkkkkkk

Salmon Bites & Wings Dinner with Yams and Macaroni and Cheese

I visited Floods for the first time for a birthday party. This is a very cool place downtown. Good music and excellent soul food. The chicken wings are delicious - well seasoned and crispy. The salmon bites were good, but I prefer the chicken wings. The sides I had - the yams and mac and cheese - were also delicious. Service is okay. Our server was busy and forgot some of our requests, including my water.

I honestly had such a great time here! The food was so so good and the DJ really did his big one! Everyone was Vibing and having a good time. The place was pretty spacious along bar and lots of tables to sit at but room to dance as well. They also have a really good happy hour selection! Definitely an older crowd so if you're not used to, maybe this isn't at your place, but it was very welcoming to all. Bartenders and servers also did great.

This spot was cool! They opened at 6 and we arrived at 6:30 and was able to be seated fast and our food came out really fast as well. The waitress was nice and attentive and we didn't have any issues. The restaurant was quiet, but the more time passed the louder it was. People definitely come to have a great time. The drinks..... Who ever was bartending that night did their best work! The food itself was pretty good. I would go back for the T.H.O.T and some other drinks.

Had a great time getting drinks here. The music was great, the drinks were strong, our waitresses were awesome, and the women's bathroom attendant was nice. Can't wait to come back and try the food!

Ive been here a few times and the food is always amazing. Food comes out quick too. The catfish is my favorite with the sides!

It's been a long time since I have been here. Way before COVID shut down everything. Used to love there happy hour menu. I can't wait to taste those delicious wings and collard greens. No peach cobbler tonight . But It's all good.

Floods is popular go to spot for black Detroiters. I've been coming here for years. I've always had a positive experience. The food is okay. I had chicken and shrimp with a side of green beans and Mac n cheese. My food came out pippin hot! The Mac was a little salty. The green beans were canned, I didn't like them and didn't finish them either. On a positive note, they make the green beans with turkey meat instead of pork, fyi. I enjoyed the jumbo shrimp the most. They usually have live music up front and a dj in the back. I got to enjoy patio seating this visit where they played music on a speaker. I like this place so I'll be back.

I checked out this spot on a Tuesday and it was really quiet until the establishment started jumping at 8:30pm. The service was awesome and they even had 10$ Casamigos shots. The food was absolutely delicious and the wings were really nice.

This spot was a little ratchet and I loved it. They charge a cover on the weekend. One night it was a live band on one side and a DJ on he other, the second night it was karaoke night. The food and service was great. Everybody was friendly and smiling, happy to be here which is a plus. I had the buffalo shrimp, which it looks like they make a lot of orders of. They were seasoned well. But they didn't have blue cheese. Weird, but whatever. I had greens and string beans which were kind of salty. But still a solid meal. If I was back in geeektown, I would definitely check this spot out again. Get some blue cheese y'all! Lol

First, the restaurant is up two flights of steps and there is no elevator. I injured my knee and walked up the stairs. Second, when I was seated and shown the menu, I was shocked at the very limited options. They only offer white- meat chicken, no rice or plain sides. I was going to try the greens but the server said they put vinegar on them which I don't care for. The Brussels sprouts with corn is a hard pass. I had no other choice but ordered something that I would never put together as a meal: fried catfish, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts with corn. The fish was fried hard and needed seasoning and the sprouts were forgettable. They brought out hot sauce on the side assuming all people want hot/ spicy food. I wanted tartar sauce and they didn't have a traditional sauce- they had a " Cajun- style sauce." My friend had a crab cake for $25. When I called about parking, the hostess mentioned the cash lot behind the restaurant and.a parking structure across the street. She didn't mention that it was extremely expensive, I paid $24.49 for 1 hour and 6 minutes in the structure. Oh, I almost forgot that they added a 20% gratuity automatically for a party of 2! So, overall, my catfish dinner, 1 crab cake appetizer, and $2 up charge for the Brussels brought my bill to $74. Plus, the $24.49 for parking was a $100 night with no liquor only to have to leave and go eat elsewhere as what I wasted money on left me hungry and unsatisfied for sure.

Originally I had 6 pieces of meat in the meal but I thankfully checked my bag as directed to on the signs. I inquired and the container was filled with what I should have gotten as a dinner. Maybe the staff member was new that initial did my order. They were polite. More than 1/2 was tough, some even so much not edible. Disappointing because I really wanted some rib tips. The cornbread was dry and crumbly. Cornbread is not difficult or long cooking so I'm not sure why I'd get old cornbread midday on a Saturday. Or they need to retool the recipe. In my head, I would think that portions would be sampled by the cook to ensure consistency, but I've never worked in a fast past restaurant so I don't know the process. Sides: dressing was good and not overly salty. Yams had too much sugar for me. I bought another meal for someone to eat and I hope it was better. A 1/2 chicken meal was $20. Overall, not with the $25+ tax I paid today. The staff was pleasant. The area was kept clean. However, the meat was a failure. I would be fine paying $25 of the meat was cooked correctly. I would not recommend going here for bbq as they have a not cash return policy. It is store credit or a gift card even if the food is poorly made. Likely need to go to a bbq specific restaurant next time. I have no plans on driving way back to the restaurant and just count it as a loss. The prices are equivalent to sit down restaurants without the service or quality.

Honestly, we've been to Cornbread many times. Previously, I've always given 5 stars and haven't ever had any complaints but something drastically changed. The drinks as well didn't taste the same and we were told that the bartender was new. We didn't want to complain or send our food back due to our past experiences at other restaurants but we did take pictures. The service was great. After 30 minutes we still didn't have our drinks, but the waitress reappeared to tell us our drinks would be out soon and the chicken would be ready in about 20 minutes. In the end, it took about 40 minutes to get our drinks and 1 1/2 hours to get our chicken. Even paying the bill took lots of effort. There were multiple customers who went inside to try to find the waitress and pay their bill. After 20 minutes of searching we were finally able to pay and leave. I'm all in for a not-rushed experience, but there's no reason to leave people baking in the sun for 40 minutes before you can bring them their drinks. We should have left, but we were locked in to discover if the chicken was as good as promised. The answer is no, unfortunately. It was fine. Very tender, but seemingly no seasoning at all. Also, they were out of cornbread and didn't have the ingredients to make our drinks the right way. The entertainment was good. We were outside, so there was a one man band blues singer who was pretty good. I hope Bert's can get it together. It's a great concept and a great location. If you go, have plenty of time and be prepared to wait. Perhaps you should bring a few drinks and snacks with you to fill the time until they can serve you.
