Loved this place! Stopped here for dinner at Francesca's Fortunato located in Frankfort. Pretty decent Italian spot. Reservations for 8pm. Upon arrival seated immediately and served complimentary refreshments. Noticed a few other occupied tables including myself. Cute tidy restaurant. Locals and newcomers enjoyed the scene. Atmosphere had dimmed lighting with small accent Italian cultured decor aligned the walls. Very intimate and comfortable evening. My waitress named was Becca. She was very polite. Knew the menu well and even gave her favorite suggestions of entrees. She made sure I was comfortable the entire night and gracefully just served. I ordered the Dana's spaghetti, Caesar salad and for my appetizer I ordered the Bruschette con Spinaci which consisted mozzarella, fresh diced tomatoes, sautéed spinach and basil! So delicious! Lately, I'm having a problem with Italian restaurants and our experience at Francesca's emphasized that situation. Atmosphere is fine and the food tastes good, but we drank water, had a plate of pasta each and my lady ordered a side of roasted vegetables; the bill with tip was over $100; no alcohol, minimal protein! Come on, what it cost FF in ingredients & prep was minimal: boiled pasta, sauces with little meat, a small bowl of veggies and a small half loaf of bread. PLUS ( or should I say minus), they sat me outdoors over a matt that covered a large drain (size of a sewer), unknown to me. Half way through our meal, one of the legs of my chair punctured this mat and I crumpled to the ground! A gentleman from a nearby table rushed over to help me up; our waitress was very apologetic, but there was NO consideration for this situation on the part of the restaurant whatsoever! Needless to say, Francesca's is permanently off my list of places to go! In general, I think we all need to rethink if we are being fairly charged for the food we're served AND being fair treated by the establishment. read more

I absolutely love this place. The meatballs are heavenly! The service has never let us down. The staff has always gone above and beyond for anything that we needed. Once I booked the event, communications with Michael were timely and all the details were clearly spelled out. She came back 20 mins after the party was complete and was rushing us to order. Francesca's - Frankfort, IL This disappointing experience started on Monday, January 5, when I called to make a reservation for a party of six. I was told there were several open tables and that a reservation was not necessary. When my party of six arrived, there were indeed several open tables, yet we were still asked if we had a reservation. The host--wearing a wrinkled T-shirt and gym shoes--eventually seated us at a lovely table in a private room with a fireplace. It felt perfect. I was dining with my elderly parents, and the quieter space made conversation easier. We thought we were in for a great night. Service began well, our food arrived, and everything seemed fine--until a party of about 30 people (roughly 20 adults and 10 children) was seated right next to us in the same room. As they waited for everyone to arrive, children were running around while adults stood clustered near our table. At first it was manageable, but the noise quickly escalated. The screaming got louder, the crowd grew tighter around us, and children began running into our chairs, knocking our coats to the floor. At that point, our server completely disappeared. We were left with only water while all attention shifted to the large party. We felt uncomfortable, ignored, and overwhelmed by the chaos. I asked to speak with a manager, who was sitting on her phone in the room next to us. She appeared completely unconcerned, as if this situation was perfectly acceptable. Even a simple acknowledgment or an effort to assist the clearly overwhelmed server would have gone a long way--but instead, nothing was done. We sat there unable to carry on a conversation, without drinks, having our chairs bumped and handled by other people's unruly children, and with no staff stepping in. Our quiet family night out was completely ruined. This was unacceptable and has cost Francesca's our repeat business. read more

Of the three Francesca's I've visited this one is 100% the best. On a quaint little corner in downtown Old Frankfurt, it's really got everything you want in a restaurant. The pasta was perfect. Drinks were great. They even made my little nephew a pizza even though that wasn't on the menu, and to our surprise it was one of the best pizzas he'd ever tried. We even ordered another one to go! We went for Mothers Day brunch at 7:00 pm. Not worth the $58.00 per person. Food just ok. Very unorganized. I went to the table where food was setup and all trays were empty. I had to ask them to bring out more food and I had to stand there about 10 minutes and wait. When they came out they only filled 2 of the 5 empty trays. I did not even bother waiting for the rest of the trays to be filled. Then I went to the pasta station and they had no alfredo sauce/noodles. The cook went back to get some and left the pan on the burner and it was starting to smoke. When he came back he took the pan off the burner put it in some water under table and then wiped it off and put my alfredo sauce in it. I asked the waitress for some bowls and plates by the pasta table because the table did not have any for my pasta and she told me to take one by the cash register. So the cook had to get bowls. Then there was no one at the carving station for the prime rib. I had to wait for someone to come back. The food offered for brunch was not that good. I would not recommend or go back. They also charged a 3% upcharge which I thought was a joke after charging $58.00 per person which did not include any non- alcohol drinks. I could of went somewhere else and got a better meal. By chance I read a yelp review that stated "everything you want in a restaurant"! They were completely CORRECT! I was looking for a good vibe, amazing food Italian meal where I could dine alone and feel wonderful in a space and thoroughly enjoy the food and service! Francesca's delivered it all! My server was Clare, as she was gracious, professional, recommended great choices and I had a beautiful early dinner all by myself! I ordered the carpaccio, which was a large portion for one so I took half home! The fresh lemon, bold capers, perfectly ripened tomatoes made the appetizer perfect! I was tossed between entrees and ended up with the Cod... wow! The sautéed spinach and mushroom was out of this world! The light but flavorful sauce added to the cod that was grilled to perfection! The Chianti was on point, dry, crisp even with fish! I was tossed on dessert and Clare steered me correctly to the Chocolate cherry delight! Wow! We had a perfect evening!! My sister and I enjoyed a favorite of Heidi's carpaccio con avocado. We would never have order this had she not suggested it was one of her favorite. The menu is now only 1 side of 1 page long. Many favorites are gone from the menu. There is no risotto. My husband ordered a house salad, and when it came, the tomato on it had a rotten spot. It was very plain, lettuce from a bag, huge chunks of cucumbers, and a couple of thin, sliced, old, very dry carrots. The dressing was supposed to be a balsamic vinaigrette, when he took his first bite, it was extremely tart. We informed our server, and she kindly took it off of our bill. His dinner consisted of fish, shrimp, and sauce,. No pasta, no rice, and nothing on the side. I ordered the Italian chop salad, which was supposed to have crunchy prosciutto, and in the entire salad I may have run across two pieces. With tip, our bill was over $100, and neither one of us ordered an alcoholic beverage. This is not the same Francesca's that we have gone to time and time again. Extremely disappointed. I had not been here but my two companions have. It is a lively place so a bit loud. You have to raise your voice a little bit to be heard. The service was good, waitress was very friendly and had recommendations. I had the Ipoglososs Ai Limone-sauteed halibut which was delicious. My gf and I went during Valentine's Day. Although it was crowded, the service was great. The staff were very attentive. I absolutely loved the hostess. She was very helpful. Every table had a vase with 2-3 roses in it. I really like the ambiance. The food however, didn't live up to my expectations. We both ordered the spicy rigatoni. It was not spicy -- which is okay. The sauce was very runny and had a water like consistency. It tasted like my water at the table. Absolutely no flavor. I was very excited for the tiramisu. It, also, lacked flavor. The menu changes with the season so you know you are getting fresh ingredients. The prices are getting a little more expensive on items now though. Our waitress was Kathy and she did a fantastic job of making sure our orders came out correctly and in accordance with gluten and dairy allergies of two members of the party. There is also an extensive gluten free menu too--just make sure to ask for it from the hostess or your waiter or waitress. I started off with the lobster bisque and it was an absolutely perfect starter and deliciously creamy. As a table we also asked for two orders of the beef carpaccio and the sautéed calamari. I think I preferred the sautéed calamari slightly to the carpaccio, but both were still great and it is nice to find a restaurant serving carpaccio! Then I got the steak on the menu cooked medium rare with potatoes and artichokes! The sauce it is in is to die for. I had never eaten artichokes before but I must say if they always taste like they do at Francesca's--I'm a huge fan! The chocolate lava cake was my pick to end the meal and paired perfectly with mint chocolate chip icecream. Our group of 10 went to Francesca's yesterday afternoon to celebrate our Mom's 98th birthday. We were seated at a long table squeezed uncomfortably between other tables. It was difficult to maneuver into the seats against the wall and as equally uncomfortable being back-to-back against another table with guests. It was 2pm, the restaurant was not crowded and we could have been given more space. The food was ok, not great. I had lemon chicken which was salty, the pastas were nothing special-typical Italian restaurant fare. The service was the most disappointing. Our server, Mario, initially greeted us gave us menus, water, etc. When we were ready to order I requested separate checks for our family. He balked at this, and asked how many checks with some attitude I did not appreciate. I know it's a hassle to deal with separate checks, but we were asking for two checks, not 4. This is a request that should be met graciously; we're pleasant people, not demanding, pretty easy to please. We received our lunch and Mario pretty much disappeared. We waited and waited and eventually asked another staff member for coffee and a dessert menu. I expect more of a Francesca's restaurant than the disappointing service we received yesterday. And yes, even though the service was bad, we still tipped 30%. Francesca's; you can do better. read more

Had a nice meal with a group. We came on a weekday and had an evening reservation. We ordered calamari and bruschetta for the table, both of which were delicious. I had the rigatoni with eggplant which was very good but not great. I was a little bummed that the sauce was not at all spicy as it indicated on the menu but it was still good.
