The meatball and sauce were really good. The salad with grilled chicken was not. The chicken was dry and flavorless (restaurant: buy a yellow can of Greek seasoning from the baking isle of the grocery store to up your grilled chicken game by 1000). Paying $17 for a salad is insane to me, because iceberg (yes, not even a step up to romaine) is so cheap. But if you're charging this much, at least make it well enough to justify the cost. We needed so much ranch to flavor the salad and chicken...And, how does an Italian restaurant not have Cesar dressing (or Cesar salads)? The waitress made us feel that she was doing us a favor by doing her job...no "you're welcomes" or "thank yous." She didn't ask what kind of dressing we wanted, and seemed annoyed when we asked her to let us know the options. The dry, doing the bare minimum vibe that so many people experience at many establishments these days... The individual pizza was a good size. The pizza itself was good. Not great or excellent. Considering that this restaurant is one of the few in the area, it's a bit of a shame that the prices for the quality didn't match up. We did not eat the pasta, so perhaps the meatballs sauce was amazing on a bowl of spaghetti. It was a busy place, but I couldn't tell if it was due to convenience or destination dining. Honestly, haven't dined in here in years, always get take out. We usually get a hamburger and pepperoni pizza, and it never disappoints. Plenty of toppings, great sauce, and stellar crust. We also can't get take out here without an order of the appetizer Buffalo chicken tenders, they are fantastic!!! We are Brimfield antique show diehards who have attended all but 1 show (weak excuse...my son was being born) in 40 years. Over all of those years we always ate lunch at Francesco's at least once per show. It's one of the few options to avoid the food trucks, get out of the heat and use a bathroom... 3 things that keep us coming back religiously despite the consistent mediocrity of the food and the always off putting vibe which is ever present in ways large and small, like nasty hand-written "No" signs everywhere and the look on the young staff's faces when they have to carry out the owner's disdainful edicts. This show it's been stinking hot, so we ate there 2 days straight. Yesterday's meal was fine and would have rated 3 stars (4 star service and 2 star food quality). Today one of us ordered the lunch (3 piece) portion of stuffed shells. When our food was served, their plate was missing one shell. The waitress was quick to point out the problem and assured us that a 3rd shell was already in the oven. No problem, right? But the 3rd shell never arrived until our dirty dishes were being cleared. We suggested that it was too late and that the check should just be corrected accordingly. The waitress told us that, per her boss they would not credit us for the mistake because (get this) the child's portion only came with 2 shells and was the same price. She presented the check and we then found that she had also charged us an additional $18 for iced tea refills despite not doing that the day before. We asked to speak to the manager who as it turns out was also the owner. She came out with the worst attitude imaginable right off the bat, and a foul mouth which she made sure to broadcast throughout the entire establishment. Despite us remaining polite, calm, and rational, she called us liars and much worse and demanded we get out and never come back. How this devolved the way it did we have no idea... we were just looking for a fair resolve to being shorted on what we were charged for, which should have been offered without our asking. Over the years we've witnessed similar unpleasantries in this place. Now we know for sure what the problem is. This owner is just a miserable shrew who has nothing but disdain for her customers. Funny thing was that her last snarky comment was that somehow WE ruined HER day. Go figure. read more

If you like to sit and be ignored, this is the place for you. You sit and wait, and wait some more. After a while you try and flag down waitstaff but they seem to be avoiding eye contact or even coming near your table. Finally you get the hostess' attention while she's seating people at a nearby table and tell her you've been waiting a long time. She tells you someone will be by in a minute. But you keep waiting, and a waitstaff goes to the next table and helps the people who arrived long after you did. So eventually you get up and go to the hostess and explain why you're leaving. Francesco's is one of the places that we really miss since moving to Texas. On a recent road trip home, we decided to go there with our B Fs. Somehow, we just knew that we wouldn't be disappointed and we were right . Our server who just earned her Master's degree treated us like valued customers. It was Friday night and we decided to order from the seafood specials. I haven't had scallops for twelve years so that's what I ordered. I was in hog heaven. While the server was excellent, the food was unfit for human consumption. I ordered the fried Calamari and have never been more disgusted by what was on my plate. While given a semi generous serving, the breading was, literally, grey, when I pulled it apart. The oil smell was rancid and the tiny little piece of calamari inside was grey, as well. I am a local so frequent this restaurant quite a bit. It has always been consistently four stars in my opinion. What it is: solid Italian food, great portions, solid prices for what you get, and average to above average service. What it isn't: updated decor and Italian feeling nor is the food inventive or out of this world. Solid grinders and really good pizza. There is now a tent for outside seating due to Covid. It was just by chance on a Sunday evening that we saw this Italian restaurant set back off the road and OPEN. What a delightful unpredicted find. Casual and super friendly the Italian food selection is great. Every item we've tried since that night has been fresh and just like your Italian Grandma used to make. Side soups are excellent and the salads are crispy and fresh. There's a wide variety of Italian dishes and the prices are more than fair for the heaping servings you will undoubtedly be having as takeout later the next day. There's a cozy bar off of the dining area that fills up and empty's in short time with people having a drink while they wait for takeout. Wide open dining area for the most part but the food is so good that there's nothing loud about the place because everyone is eating and enjoying their meal. The servers are happy and efficient and everyone seems to really enjoy working there. It has become a favorite stop when we are in the area and the folks we have recommended it to are of the same state of mind as we are now. While it's well off the busy main drive It fills up fast as dinner time approaches. It's clean, it's delicious, it's friendly and reasonably priced. I highly recommend Francesco's as a place to bring the whole hungry family. As a side note that's always important to me, the bathrooms are small and while you may have to wait they are spotlessly clean and there's plenty of soap and hand towels. our server was pleasant. my Long Island iced tea tasted like a rum coke with a splash of cheap vodka. the calamari was frozen and chewy with each "ring" perfectly sized to the next. the clam strips were tasteles. actually tasteless! even the fries didn't taste real. the clam chowder was probably Campbells. my daughte's broiled scallops were a soggy mess. when we left the restaurant at 930 (on a Friday night), there was no other patrons present, and the staff made it clear we were holding them up from being able to close. just awfu...buyer beware. read more

Leave it up to me to go somewhere nice like this not to mention an Italian restaurant and order buffalo chicken tenders with fries. When I first saw everyone's dish coming out I thought "I should've ordered chicken parm"...as soon as my plates were set down that thought went right down the drain. The buffalo tenders were one of the absolute best I've ever had...the fries were thick, hot and crispy...and the blue cheese? The absolute best I've ever had. I could tell they made it there. Thick, creamy and full of blue cheese chunks. Everyone who had their Italian dishes were asking for a bite of mine and yes I got a good majority of my fries stolen. Oh, and the mozzarella cheese appetizer was really good too. Will come back and I'll probably order the same thing again! Lol Reasoning for four stars and not five is because our waitress was rushing us to order and seemed annoyed with us. We felt like we were a bother like she had somewhere better to be. She even had the nerve to repeatedly tell my wife she gave her linguine as asked when she clearly had spaghetti. My wife would know the difference considering she's half Italian and loves to cook. I wish I could put zero stars for this place. First off, as a former worker, do not try and get a job here unless you just want to be yelled at and mistreated. After expressing that I was someone with a mental disability, one of the owners (Cathy) asked me if I was slow after failing to do a task correctly. Another incident was when I came into close contact with covid and I let another one of the owners (Rosa) know and she looked at me and yelled in my face asking me if I thought she was "born yesterday" and to stop making excuses. I tried the chicken francesca and a side of spaghetti with meat sauce and was totally disappointed with what was served. The chicken was dry and tasted like cardboard. The sauce was no better than canned spaghetti O's. The side of spaghetti with meat sauce was exactly the same kind of crappy cheap sauce with a terrible tasting substance that was supposed to be meat, and to my surprise I found a little something extra in it, a human hair! That says a great deal about the cleanliness of their establishment. The final straw was the mouse droppings my wife saw in the ladies room. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. Someone told me at the bar he only goes in the place to drink because he knows first hand the sanitary conditions of the place. He said the owner of the place whose name is Francesco, (big surprise there right?), is an angry prick who drives off customers with his bad attitude and nasty negative attitude. I also heard word has it a guy dropped dead in his flea market booth the day after eating dinner there. I ate at Francesco's three, count 'em, three times in the last week while we were set up at the Brimfield flea market. While their servings are generous (gigantic), the food is mediocre at best. Their salads are a joke - iceberg lettuce, one almost ripe slice of tomato, maybe a slice of cucumber (if you're lucky) and about a gallon of store-bought salad dressing. Their antipasti is a pretty good deal, but far from authentic -- Oscar Mayer ham slices, salami slices, the same awful iceberg lettuce, the same not-quite-ripe tomatoes, and spicy peppers. My meal last night was the most disappointing of all. First of all, there are no descriptions on the menu -- but that's ok! I've been to Italy a few times and I know what I like. I ordered chicken scallopini, and what came out was big chunks of chicken drenched in a red pasta sauce with peppers and mushrooms and what-not. No capers, no pounded chicken, no cream or parmesan or anything for miles. Granted, maybe there are different ways to prepare this dish -- but I have NEVER seen it like this. I do not like red sauce at all. I even Googled chicken scallopini and showed my waitress (and also the owner on my way out) - I went through about 50 photos, and most of them were photos of what I was expecting. The owner said that they way they prepare is it just like chicken cacciatore -- in fact, I bet if you were to order either dish, they are the same thing -- just a hunch. Like I said, there are probably different preparations of this dish. They need DESCRIPTIONS ON THEIR MENU, and then this would not happen!! I will say -- our servers all three nights were pretty good. The gal last night was especially friendly and genuinely felt badly that I did not enjoy (didn't even take a bite) of my dish.
