Crown of duck
Joyce C.

Pretty great restaurant that Ive been waiting to try. I remembered a few years ago I came across a youtube video that showed their showstopper duck and completely forgot about this restaurant until I happened to see its name again. Of course I had to come for the duck, which, as advertised, is the star of the show. I also tried the duck mortadella (delicious), the bomboloni (must get), lobster ravioli (could potentially live without it), and the agnolotti (yum). The ambiance is great but the restaurant does get a bit noisy during their peak hours. Another thing to mention, I did come for a special occasion which the restaurant was aware about, and not that its a requirement but I thought they would do something special for occasions. Would have at least appreciated a card ,and most michelin restaurants do also give you some dessert on the house but that was just something I noticed.

Good was great but service was questionable. I was mind boggled they have a Michelin star because we basically didn't see our server after we ordered. I have friends that frequent this spot and it appears our experience is not typical for their service. We sat right by the open kitchen which we did love. The wagyu carpaccio was my favorite thing we ate.

Overall wonderful experience, my first Michelin star experience. The crown of duck was a little oversalted on the skin level, but the whipped parsnip side dish with apple was wonderful in balancing the saltiness. The Canard au Citron (an elevated lemon meringue shaped like a duck) had this wonderful crunch/crisp shortbread base with a flavored sorbet to make the dessert nice a cool. My favorite bite of the night was the sweet corn bombolini - burst of sweet corn cream flavor in the center. Roman sourdough was delicious with the accompanied lard and sunflower spread. Service was wonderful as well, explained the dishes as they were presented. Overall, not a bad bite here!

I was here for dinner with some friends on a Tuesday evening. The space isn't very big but not crowded either. Our service was also a bit slow when ordering but was better once our food came out. We started with the Souffle Cakes which were soft, fluffy and a little tangy but very tiny in size and the seaweed butter with the caviar was good. For pasta, we were recommended the Conchiglie which was very flavorful and not overpowered by the taste of clams. We also had the Agnolotti which was a personal favorite. Each bite was a burst of flavor in my mouth! Unfortunately the portion sizes were once again very, very small. Of course we also had to try the Dry Aged Crown of Duck which truly is worth the hype! The duck is tender and perfectly cooked but the sides (swiss chard, parsnips, soppressata jam) truly makes the whole dish. Overall, the dishes were exceptional but very small.

Crudités ($13) - French onion-esque dip. Love the colors, and dip was tasty

Pastas are all really good--housemade pasta is cooked right and sauces are all tasty. Pass on the dessert--both of ours were fail. Warm sourdough bread is served with 2 spreads and a nice rustic presentation with the string and pig-shaped butter. Crudités ($13) is super colorful and served with a tasty onion dip. Soufflé bread/cake with caviar & seaweed butter was light and yummy. So, our waiter suggested to eat family style for our party of 6. We ordered a number of pasta dishes and 2 of the fish main entrees. The pasta dishes are on the very small side, so I'd recommend each ordering 1 pasta dish and sharing only the entrees--otherwise, you end up getting just 1-2 bites of each pasta, which is enough for a taste but quite silly to share this way. The fish entree was really good, cooked nicely and the sauce and other accompaniments were tasty and went very well together. Dessert was SUPER disappointing, especially after all the yummy food! Our waiter recommended 2 of the desserts we ordered, including the brown butter cake and carrot cake, since they were shaped as a rubber ducky and a snowman. Cute desserts? I was all for it. Until I tasted them. HUGE disappointment, as they were completely one note and heavy on the yuzu and citrus sour notes. We were expecting cake as per the menu description, and yet each dessert had a mere 2 total bites of cake hidden under the multiple sour creams and whatnot. If it wasn't for actual carrot shreds in the tiny carrot cake we found, we'd also have no way of telling apart the two desserts since they tasted the same--sour. Maybe the sourness killed our taste buds. Very disappointing. I informed our waiter that we thought the food was great but the desserts horrible and he simply thanked me for the honest feedback. And that was it. Not the customer service I'd expect from a Michelin starred restaurant, particularly after sharing a glass of the very nice wine we brought with the sommelier. Also corkage is a whopping $90, which is the highest I've seen anywhere. If only we had passed on dessert, this would have been an easy 5 stars. The super fail dessert brings it down to 4 if not lower for me.

The bread by itself was pretty underwhelming. It's not sour at all, the larb was sour and carried this dish. For $12 I'm not sure if it's worth it. The duck was delicious! However, the sides that it came with were alright. My least favorite side was the apricot purée. I spent the entire time wishing it was mashed potatoes. I felt the sides didn't complement the duck at all? Maybe that wasn't their goal. We got the vanilla and banana ice cream, both were good! Not to sweet.

Wow. WOW. I had some expectations but this dinner far exceeded them. We initially came in to try the Restaurant Week but decided to get the Duck instead. Started with the carpaccio- I never eat mushrooms and this is the dish I'd come back here for. Fantastic. Every bite was amazing. The short rib pasta (agnolotti)- perfect portion and blend of flavors. And the star of the show, the crown of duck... perfect. The presentation and flavor.. the parsnip that came with it was also a favorite. Ended the evening with the canard au citron.. not a fan of sweets but this was very lemony and not too sweet. All in all, outstanding.

Carpaccio (wagyu)

Had their 3 course tasting menu partnered with bilt It was decent. Wouldn't go back not because it was bad but because it was all right and there are many other options in NYC Fair unremarkable dimmed atmosphere. Fair oversized but aesthetically pleasant dish/plate choice. Fair one serving portion. Good appetizer- carpaccio tasted like fancy bbq chips, all right main - duck in the pappadelle sauce could have been slightly tough beef and I wouldn't have known good dessert for some - well executed fancier version of brownie and ice cream ; though strawberry shortcake cake was all right and felt more like deconstructed strawberry shortcake cake whipped cream Discreetly and frequently refilled sparkling water/ plates were taken away promptly upon finished eating/ some wait for the main; good service.

i had my first meal of the year at francie and it certainly did not disappoint! the duck is obviously a must -- it truly is THE best in nyc (i have eaten a considerable amount of duck in this city). the accompaniments are also incredible -- shoutout to the parsnip puree! we tried 2 of the pastas with the clam conchigle being highly recommended, but i found it a bit briny for my taste. i was surprised to find i preferred the papardelle since i typically steer away from meaty pastas. i wouldn't skip that! service was attentive and made our birthday celebration a great one! all in all, an amazing meal. would definitely return for the duck!

Upon stepping into Francie, I was drawn in by the ambiance/interior. There's a complimentary coat check upon entry. The staff and service at Francie is very attentive and accommodating and the entire experience did not feel rushed at all. My friends and I came to Francie primarily for their duck dish ($152) which is designed to be shared. There was 7 of us so we also got the lamb entree (Delicious but only 3 pcs at $52), 4 pastas, the sourdough, and two appetizers to share; we each also ordered a cocktail as well. For dessert we ordered all 4 desserts plus two additional scoops of Thai Ice Cream. While the portion size of each dish left more to be desired, coming with a group was the best way to try a bunch of items on the menu and we all left satiated. With tip the cost per person came out to $126. I can see why this place has a Michelin star

Birthday dinner... Small portions but huge flavor nothing is sharable but the Duck or Steak I still can't get over the salad. My best friend and I still crack up about the salad best 2 leaves salad we ever had in our life and the pasta was chefs kiss. I recommend do not go in hungry. Great one and done experience lol

Soufflé with caviar - yum! Loved the seaweed flavor
Tansy W.

This place knocked it out of the park. Amazing duck and pastas! Also enjoyed the soufflés and the cheese plate. Only things I didn't love were the wine (got an Oregon Pinot) and the sourdough (which wasn't as soft and chewy as I hoped). We got 3 pastas and all were amazing but my favorite was the conchiglie (clams and bacon), tortelli, and a vegetarian mushroom lasagna which was the special of the day. They have a small private room in the back. Highly recommend! Truly loved our experience here.

~ Foie gras canele $45 ~ [Rating: 5 /5 ] A perfectly textured canelé filled with luxurious foie gras cream with a hint of floral notes from the earl grey, so unique and absolutely divine! The flavours worked amazingly together, making it my favourite of the night ~ Soufflé cakes $23 ~ [Rating: 4.5 /5 ] The seaweed butter is chef's kiss! Rich, umami, and perfectly complemented by a hint of Meyer lemon for brightness. ~ Bombolini $23 ~ [Rating: 4.75 / 5 ] Stuffed with sweet corn puree and topped by Truffle, parmesan, pancetta, it's a wonderful creation of flavours. As a sweet-savory food lover, I devoured these! ~ Dry aged crown of duck $148 ~ [Rating: 4 / 5 ] Beautifully presented, and the flavours were great! The meat was slightly on the chewy side, just wish it was more tender to match that delightful crispy skin. ~ Frites $20 ~ [Rating: 4 / 5 ] Super soft fries, not my thing. Asked for a crispier version, but some turned out borderline burnt. ~ Conchiglie $28 ~ [Rating: 3 / 5 ] The sauce was overwhelmingly salty, drowning out the clam flavour. We took a few bites and had it returned, appreciate that they took it off the bill. ~ Canard au citron $19 ~ [Rating: 5 / 5 ] Possibly the best (and cutest!) citron dessert I've had! It's The dessert is bright and tart from the lemon curd duck and bergamot foam, with a little nutty savoury from the brown butter sugar, then fromage blanc to balance it all--perfection! ~ Pavlova $17 ~ [Rating: 4.5 /5 ] Yuzu frozen yogurt, sago, shiso and honeydew -- tangy, not too sweet, and super refreshing! - - - - - - - - - Will I be back? We are traveling with a 7 yr old, kid friendly?

Yes we are kid friendly. We don't have a children's menu but have never had an issue accommodating a child.

Trying to bring a bday cake for my mom, pls advise if have any cake cutting fee?

Thanks for reaching out to us. We normally do not accept outside food at Francie (DOH rules) but have made exceptions for cakes in the past. The cake slicing fee is $20 per person. We will present then plate with ice cream. Hope this helps!

How much are the fries that come with the duck?

The Crown Roast of Duck is served with parsnip, chard, and soppressata jam. The fries are actually a side that accompanies the Cote de Boeuf. However, if one were to order the fries a la carte, the price is $18.

How far in advance can we make a reservation ? I'm planning to go visit NY with my bf and want to try this restaurant in Dec but when i check the date there's nothing available, please help?

30 days ahead

Are there any Gluten free pastas or desserts?

Thanks for reaching out! We have plenty of gluten-free options (including dessert) but our pastas are not one of them.

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.
