So forget everything about the food, which I guess is fine. This place is ridiculous for plenty of reasons. Firstly, after being told that they take forever to make the food and having seen reviews, I placed my order 30 minutes in advance. When I arrive to pick it up, they look a little stunned and start running around to make it, and it's apparent they haven't even started making ANY of my large order. Oh and the place is completely empty, so it's not like they're busy. I end up waiting an extra 25 minutes. Huh? Either they are extremely lazy or they don't trust people will show up. So dumb, why even take an order over the phone then? I ask if I can have sauce on the side and am told no, I can't, but they can put extra on the chicken itself. Umm, no I say, I want it on the side, so that everyone can control the amount of sauce and spiciness. Nope, they are adamant that I cannot get more sauce despite placing an almost $100 order. I try to reason that there is extra sauce for patrons who eat at the restaurant, but am told that is there to "entice people to stay and eat." WHAT??? Except I'm paying exactly the same as those who eat in, but nope, they didn't budge. Also, they pretty much ripped every single thing off of Nando's: the menu, the sauces even down to the colors and font they use. Pro tip: order the Nando's sauces off Amazon and pour over grilled/bbqed chicken for the same exact effect. I guess these people would rather lose a customer (which they did) than provide an extra five cents worth of sauce. I'll never go back, why bother when they don't appreciate our business? Made with tartar sauce), a quarter chicken mango-lime (not as spicy, the lime really comes out) with sides of rice (yellow and standard) and spicy fries (really good! They don't give you ketchup but we dipped it in the white and orange sauce which we liked), the wings hot (the hot sauce is delish and not too much to handle if you like spicy), and jalapeño poppers (these were good--standard). This place was not good. I don't know a better way to say it lol. Came in with my girlfriend to get some peri peri chicken because we were craving it, but were underwhelmed. The tables were a little sticky, we didn't like the plates they served us in. The bottles of sauces were all sticky and needed to be refilled. The chicken itself was okay and had potential. It looked appealing and the flavors were on the right track! DO NOT order the mashed potatoes, the order of mashed potatoes they gave us tasted old. I didn't really like the rice either. I also like the salad which has the white sauce over it. The location is very diverse, I came here from jamaica,qns. People also come here from long island because the location of this place isn't too far from floral park. This place is also ok for parties or if you are trying to celebrate your bday, this is the spot to bring your friends to get something to eat. Lovely jem of a place in the middle of nowhere! I've lived in this neighborhood for several years and have eaten at the many restaurants that have tried to run here at this very same spot. We are strapped for good food in this area; much of what we have is Chinese take-out and multiple fast food chains. That is until I discovered this joint! The opportunity to have delicious, healthy food at a great price right by our door is something I have always longed for! We've been to Chick-In a few times and like a lot of other reviewers have mentioned, it definitely takes time for them to complete an order. After the first couple of times, we've ordered ahead even just to dine in but still we waited. We've since just resigned to having to wait and it's worth it if the food is made just right. Lately we've been ordering the peri peri strips (chopped chicken over rice and salad) and either the quarter or half chicken. We order a medium level of spice and add more on our own if needed. We also recently tried the lamb chops - soooo good and will definitely be ordered again! The sides are honestly not anything special so don't expect much there. While I was waiting I was looking at their menu. I asked about one of the sauces for the wings called peri peri. She was quick to say they didn't have that sauce yet. ??? I just wanted to know what kind of sauce it was. When I got home, my husband said " what kind of pizza is this?" When I looked the pizza was brown & almost burnt. I've ordered from Chick-In twice, both times through grubhub. Delivery time needs improvement, but the food is tasty. The first time I ordered, the food came correctly. I was called on my cell phone and told the food was outside. I ordereda chicken burger, a zinger burger, coleslaw, and a tandoori wrap. The second time I ordered is the reason for only 3 stars, and that's being nice. I ordered through grubhub at 10 pm and the estimated time of delivery was 11pm. Fine - I figured it was going to be a long delivery time from my first experience. Around 10:30 pm, I heard the front screen of my front door slam. I quickly ran downstairs but no one was there. Before calling grubhub, I googled the phone number for Chick-In, but no results were found. I then called grubhub to get an update. I waited on hold for about 7 minutes. A woman picked up and told me she would call me back with an update. At 10:50, grubhub called me back and told me Chick-In left my food sitting on the floor outside next to the car in the driveway. My friends love the peri peri wings, and when asked these wings aren't the best because they are halal it's because they are cooked so well and taste amazing. Personally I don't do spicy so if you are a spicy fan these are for you! However my friends are correct the wings are cooked to perfection and taste great. After waiting almost an hour, the driver told me the restaurant was closed and the order cancelled. I was bummed but then I got a call from the owner/manager of the restaurant offering a free replacement for my order. There was a personal emergency and the store had to temporarily close. Food was great. I used the Yelp eat24 app to order from them online. I ordered it pickup so the long wait time (about 45 mins) was OK with me. However, I was not happy with the fact when I ordered the fried chicken combo which comes with fries. Sadly, mine did not come with fries. So I was charged for fries which I thought I was getting and but never received. I'm sorry, I DONT CARE how good the food is, but when I order something from your menu, you should know what it comes with. Especially if I am coming to pick it up and it is already wrapped up and I leave to go home and open it. I've never ordered/eaten at a restaurant where employees are so stingy about their condiments. I order from here at least once every other week and I love the orange sauce they give with the chicken. When I first learned about this Nandos 'inspired' chicken joint, I was really excited to try it out. Finally, Nandos' famous Peri Peri chicken was available right in my backyard. I first tried Nandos in Sydney, and then again in London. What I loved about it was the juiciness and tenderness of the chicken, and that's where Chick-in came up short. Maybe it was an off night, but the chicken we had was dry. It was coated with that Nandos mouth-bursting flavor, but it was all on the outside. The inside of the chicken was dry, and did not have any flavor. I had ordered two whole chicken and they were both alike.
