6/17 I indecisively came to Smash burger hoping to find something to satisfy my hunger before I became hangry. My initial thought was to get a salad but I saw Smash Burger next door. I entered this beautiful store and found it tidy and neat. A beautiful red smash burger sign greets you upon entering. They had my attention, after all, I saw red! ( Just a little pun). Walking up to the counter I saw not workers in sight or on site, which ever you chose, so I stood there for 3 minutes. Someone finally came to the front and just started staring at me. No proper greeting, no welcome to Smash Burger, home of the good burger. (I'm acting a little wiftey). I begin to ask questions in order to make the best of my visit. I asked if they had turkey burgers and crinkled cut fries. She said no and no was just that, no means no, no suggestive selling, just flat out no. I am not ready to consume beef so I opted out. Improvements needed- when a customer enters the store, greet them and ask them how you can help them if they ask for something off of the menu, stir them to what's on the menu. It's obvious that they are unfamiliar with the menu, try to keep them in the store to make the sale by telling them what you do have; like, we have hotdog's, chicken sandwiches, sweet potato fries. Give them a reason not to leave and don't say no for the customer, let the customer make that "no" decision. Based on customer service and not trying to score the saie, I initially was giving 3 but I'll knock a half Star off, rounded down to make two stars. I did takeout here for a burger comparison. Overall the burgers were similar in taste. They were moist with good meat flavor. I got it with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. The pickles over powered the burger a bit. I didn't like the flavor of the fries. I'm not sure if it was rosemary or oregano on them. Prefer classic fries. By the time I got home the bag was very greasy and the burger was slipping off the bun. I had to fix it a little for the pic. It was ok but not my go to burger place. read more

Came here about two weeks ago and ordered 2 double burgers to go. Upon returning home, both burgers were haphazardly assembled and when we opened them to reassemble them, there were large flakes of burnt detritus that looked like grill scrapings. The large grill scrapings were mixed in the cheese and couldn't be removed. We threw out both burgers (sorry, no photos) and went to the nearby Shake Shack. 100% satisfied with the Shack doubles. This Friday we decided to give this Smashburger another try as everyone has a bad day. It wasn't busy on this Friday evening and the large industrial-themed space had about 2 occupied table. We ordered the same 2 double burgers and hoped for the some yummy burgers. Nope, same burnt grill scrapings, but less than the last time. Really wanted another option to shake shack, but this smash isn't it. We'll try 7th Street in Mineola, it's further out, but worth a try. This Smash location just doesn't want to make the necessary effort of properly cleaning their grills between each order. Service is ok as the orders are there when we arrive, but burnt grill scrapings aren't acceptable and they're probably carcinogenic as well. Took my grandkids to Smashburger in New Hyde Park after their half day at school, our little outing for the day! My younger granddaughter absolutely loves the kids' chicken nuggets and tots from the kids' menu. My older granddaughter went for her favorite, the single bacon cheeseburger with tots on the side and a vanilla shake, a perfect combo! I had tots and a vanilla shake myself, and everything was delicious. The food came out hot and fresh, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, making it an easy and enjoyable stop with the grandkids. We all left happy and full, can't ask for more than that. We'll definitely be back! read more

The staff taking our order was friendly and welcoming, and helpful with our questions and customizations. We grabbed a number and sat at our table, and the food was ready and served to us in just a few minutes time. Carolina Burnt Ends - Who doesn't love burnt ends? This was very good but the bbq sauce was definitely too sweet for our liking - but the burger, still great. Classic - Patty with cheese, lettuce, tomato. Truffle Mushroom Swiss - So good! Our fave of the bunch and will definitely be my go-to next time! Roasted Brussel Sprouts - So crispy and yum. I might ask them to go lighter on the salt next time though. My first visit to Smashburgers today. I was there just before noon and there were already several customers there. The server was friendly, helped me figure out what to order and explained their rewards program. The food is made to order so it was a short wait. Brought the food home and everything was good and made exactly as ordered. The burger deluxe had a nice brown crust and was delicious. The sweet potato waffle fries and tots were good but I'll have to remember to ask for no salt on the tots next time. It took me a little while to figure out how to register for the rewards program but I finally got it done. Will definitely be back. read more

When you know something tastes good, then you eat it (again and again). It's how we often work as you'll always gravitate towards restaurants and food spots that flavorfully fill your belly. But every once and a while a place that you've discounted pops up and tries to lure you back in. I'd say that's what happened last week when I ended up at Smashburger. The draw that brought me to Smashburger was the word "chorizo." I'm a big fan of this tasty Spanish sausage and will often order anything that uses this delicious item. So the Chorizo Cheeseburger by Chef Rick Bayless sounded like something I had to try. Now I've been to Smashburger in the past and it's honestly (as stated by the opening paragraph) nothing special. When you have other quality burger spots nearby (Five Guys, Shake Shack), it's hard to ever warrant a trip here. It's third (or lower) on a list of meaty options despite it potentially having a more elaborate menu than the other two. More sides and toppings and varieties, but when it comes to flavor, I'm not sure Smash competes. Even so, this burger had to be tried. When I entered, the same setup from years prior was still in place: A bunch of seats and this colorfully-lighted wall between the ordering spot and the rest of the space. I'll say a big annoyance was the menu writing. The words were extremely tiny and tough to read (and I have good eyes!). Luckily, I basically knew what I wanted (chorizo cheeseburger). Beyond that, I also snagged a side of Smash fries (garlic, rosemary, olive oil) and crispy Brussels sprouts. I got everything to-go (as this place is right by my house) and headed home. Once settled, it was chorizo time! This burger had a patty of their normal beefy mix with an additional chorizo patty on top along with melted cheddar cheese and pico de gallo. It sounded amazing and tasted...pretty good. I got hints of chorizo flavor and a little spice here and there, but it (as usual) didn't match up with other burgers nearby. The toppings honestly might have overpowered the meats and along with the somewhat tasty yet oily Smash fries, I was left with a lot of thirst from the saltiness this meal created in my mouth. I'll give a shoutout to the sprouts as those were honestly the best part. Overall, Smashburger tries its best to live up to its competition, but I can't say it truly has the ability to compete at the same burger caliber. There's some intrigue when it comes to what they offer in toppings and choices, but if you want a good ol' meaty handheld, then I'd look like elsewhere. With this chorizo trip complete, I don't see myself returning any time soon. My intrigue in Smash has been...well...smashed. read more

I must admit I don't eat "fast food", but every now and then I have a taste, and this is the only place I'll take my family. I'll drive 30 mins out of my way to this location. It is always clean, with friendly service with a nice variety of choices for my picky eating family. The best thing is they have veggie & gluten free options too and no soy by-products. I already pledged my allegiance to another fast-casual burger place, but Smashburger deserves love too. It's more expensive than the other competitors in its category, but the food is very good. They have more variety, and I like their rosemary garlic fries a ton. They remind me of fries from "higher end" places that sell fries. They smell delightful, and are a nice complement to their juicy and hearty burgers. I feel like Smashburger uses higher quality ingredients than most of its competitors, which you can taste and feel upon the first bite of your burger. At this particular location, there's plentiful seating and the staff are very pleasant. There's parking abound. Even though it's expensive, I think it's actually worth it once in a while. It's a completely different environment from Shake Shack, In-N-Out, and of course, the more prevalent (but lesser) chains. It's less crowded and I feel like that environment helps you enjoy the meal more. If Smashburger had better coupons/deals/etc, I'd be here all the time. It's quite good if budget isn't a concern.
