a plate of pasta with shrimp and asparagus
    Christine C.

Last week I crashed a post Valentine's Day date with my parents and dined at Frankie & Augie Z for the 1st time. We went early and were able to have the restaurant basically to ourselves aside from one or two people at the bar. The waiter was knowledgeable and patient and allowed us to dine at our pace and enjoy conversation. For starters we had two types of calamari that were tasty, but we wished the calamari was more crisp. Beware of healthy size portions ;) Definitely shareable. I shared a dish filled with scallops, shrimp, mussels and clams served over a buttery saffron risotto. The seafood was one point, but the buttery saffron risotto stole the show for me. The seafood with mushrooms and asparagus didn't disappoint my father either!

The food quality seem to have gone down some since the previous owners. It's still pretty good.

I only went in for pizza, eat-in. Pizza was meh. Good, thin, crispy crust, but the sauce was waaaay too sweet and thick for my taste.

Oh Fratello. Ciao ciao. Trio Pizza and its tantalizing temptations. Social Media does do wonders -…read morefestering a fascination... a hankering for some slices I'd only seen not smelt or felt. Had me bury myself in winter attire and trek half an hour or so to see what was what. Oh, don't you worry lads and ladettes. LB found out what is what. Lace up your sneaks and get ready to run with me. I pulled up in the whip, in need of a wash, some wiper fluid, an oil change and an up to date registration. If you ask a mechanic they'd probably say I needed a little more than that - But, they'd probably be lying. Upchargers. Liars. Criminals. Just like the weathermen. Anyways... I park my Fordrari in a decently full parking lot right around restaurant opening. Good sign. If you asked me, but what do I know? Small lot, but relatively decent sized shop - At this particular time they still were attached to Bono Bono (which ofc I finished the meal off with but that's a story for another time... if you're lucky.) I stepped in, a two step with a half nae nae, to the interior in my high top Uggs screamin' Shady til' I die. But my screams stopped upon the sights and sounds of this sliceria. Wowza, McPowza. Geezle Beezle. Good heavens to Betsy. Do these slices look good or what. Straight up on surface play this is banging with the baddest boys in the pizza game. But am I a surface level guy? Maybe... maybe I am. But that's for me and the mirror to work out. Is love blind? I don't know. But without lust - Love is rarely found and even more seldom can love be held for a long period of time without said lust. Anyways... I lusted for this pizza upon first sight. And so will you, for you are as weak as I... maybe even weaker (probably) ((more than likely)) (((you are weaker))). Finally. Brass tax season. Let's get down to it. One of THE BEST GRANDMA I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. Honestly who am I kidding? The best grandma I've had. You could tell the dough quality upon sniff, and first taste backed it up. Superb. Just terrific. A must get. The chicken scarp was a real nice specialty pie. Legit taste, leaving you wanting even more. The vodka Sicilian was solid. The other slices were for my co-attendant who delivered distinguishing praise - And I ought believed him. Will be getting those next time as well. As we were munching down, an Angel sent from the heavens approached us. One of the owners came walking straight out from the oven with a "Thinny Thin" pie of which he was testing out new things with. "You want a slice?" He asked, in more of a proclamation than a question. I may have dropped a tear, and of course accepted a fourth slice because I'm that type of guy. The abs can continue to hibernate as they have been for my entire life. On receipt of said slice, a smile curled on my face as if I was preparing to jestermax but in reality I was just honored that I got framemogged by the jacked up owner. I ate the slice happily - and boy oh boy - that thinny thin is a thing of beauty. A scientific invention, researched and developed into near perfection. Thin, crispy, good sauce, topped off with some shred... well done lads. I could go on all day, and you'd probably love it. Bow down to LB. Top 2 pizzeria in all of Westchester. Johnny's is obviously the other. Trio Pizza is a 5 Star standout without question. That's what's what. Don't dare to question me when I provide an answer. Well worth the drive and I'll do it again - fared well, so not a farewell but a see you soon.

I've used it on several occasions. Most business have various times you can pick food up. Calabria time is 30 minutes before the business closed. I went in five minutes earlier, showed my order to the man on register. He asked me to have a seat. He told the other person/worker in the store. I received a box of pizza. When I opened it, it looked like garbage, five slices of pizza they would discard. I have never went to a business, going through too good to waste, where I have felt like I had received garbage. That speaks for the character of a business. With pickup time 30 minutes before closing, there are many food that would fulfill the too good to waste category. For a reduced price, I was given old pizza slices that look like they were sitting around all day. I asked if he can warm it, and he said no. I told him that I have two orders, and he gave me basically the same thing he gave me the first time. Very, very disappointed. Again, this speaks to the character of a business, because thirty minutes before closing, they are many things that are too good to go or throw out. You do not give a customer something that you would throw out. Instead, you give a customer something that is too good to throw away.

The interior is old-fashioned looking, with sad furniture and dying poinsettia plants on window sills (this is March). It is clean and well lit though, so that's a plus. We ordered different things for lunch and honestly the food is average. My daughter had penne ala vodka, and the sauce was bright orange, with pasta swimming in it. My husband's chicken parm was okay, he didn't enjoy the sauce that much. My daughter liked her chicken salad, and chicken tasted particularly good. I had a caprese panini and it was a bit runny and overly salty. The prices for lunch were reasonable. The service was friendly and helpful. The waitress kept checking in on us and even packed our leftovers for us. Much appreciated. This place is good if you are feeing nostalgic and want that old fashioned Italian vibe. Honestly, it is not my cup of tea, but my mother in law swears by this restaurant as it brings back memories for her. To each their own. I would not be back personally.

A friend mentioned it had good food, great prices, and table service and he was going down there, so we all stopped in for lunch. Great decision. The prices are very reasonable! One of the best Italian-American restaurant/pizzerias I've found in years; and I've eaten more than my share of pizza in many countries. Only top quality ingredients are used! We each ordered a different 12" pizza, one for each of us. In hindsight, we could've ordered one pizza that the three of could have shared and would we have been satiated! My significant other ordered a prosciutto and arugula pizza. She had one at Cancino's in Mexico City November 2019 and LOVED it. We've never seen it on another menu here. So, when she saw it on their menu, she ordered it right away! It was perfect! There was about 4 ounces of arugula and the $20 something a pound prosciutto on it. See the photo. No crispy cremated prosciutto chips nor wilted arugula arrived to the table. My friend had the red meat pizza. It looks like about a pound of sausage meat and a whole pepperoni was sliced and put on his pizza. He kept picking pepperoni off his pizza and putting it on ours. What we had looked like a normal pepperoni pizza; there was that much on his! There was a small group who ordered pasta dishes. They looked great also. Yelpers get a 10% discount.
