I've ordered delivery from here a few times. The first two times were fine. The most recent delivery arrived 90 minutes after I ordered. It was almost 10pm when they got here. I'll get back to this in a minute, because it turned out to be more of an issue than simply being late. The first meatball wedge I had was delicious. The second time it was less spectacular but good enough to not be disappointing in and of itself. The third time I ordered it (the time it was late), the bread wasn't as fresh as the other times, and the wedge was 2/3 of the usual size (see photo). My pizza choices are somewhat limited by a severe allergy to aged cheese (e.g., Parmesan, Romano), so I have to stick with white pizza and salad pizza. The salad pizza is delicious every time. Most places throw salad on a slice and call it a day, but this place chops the salad perfectly. I can almost eat it like a regular slice (when I'm eating alone and wearing an old stained t-shirt.) So good! I decided to try a slice of their white pizza, which usually made with just mozzarella and ricotta. Their recipe uses aged cheese, so I wasn't able to eat it. Their recipe is what it is, so I can't fault them for that. But I will say that the amount of ricotta looked underwhelming. (Really amazing white pizza that I'm able to eat is from Annabella's. I have to prevent myself from ordering it every day and make it more of a few-times-a-month treat.) I like Forno's rolls, especially the chicken and the sausage and pepper. They're so good, I rarely bother using the marinara dip. So back to my 90-minute order. I called after 70 minutes and asked where my order was. The gentleman said it's on the way and should be here shortly. He was very apologetic, but there was one thing he said that I found dubious: he said they got a sudden flurry of delivery orders (@ 8:20 on a week night? really?). When I asked if the food would be hot, assured me it would be. When the young man arrived, the food was adequately warm. He didn't offer an apology. I noticed that the tape seal on the boxes with the rolls and the slice had been broken. I can't think of ANY reason why a delivery man would need to break those seals, can you? I was ready to give them 5 stars, but this last episode really soured me on Forno's, for these reasons: What felt to me like less than total honesty 2/3 of the normal-size wedge with stale-ish bread Inexplicably broken seals on the food Unapologetic delivery guy Final order for me. I've tried many of their slices and the specialty slices are good. I'm not a huge fan of the dough, I usually like my slices really thin and the dough tastes relatively bland. Where their pizza really shines is the sauce. You can tell they use fresh san marzanos, garlic, and herbs, really a delicious and rustic sauce. Amazing pizza and food. Fornos seemed to improve drastically with their pizzas as of late. Last few time I ordered from them the way they cooked the pie was just amazing. Not over cooked, but definitely crunchy and not floppy. The main difference between them and other spots are in the sauce and the flavor. We had slices of buffalo chicken and spicy chicken, and an eggplant parm hero. The chicken was in large chunks, this is a plus, and had good flavor. The eggplant parm hero wss made fresh, took a good 15 minutes, fresh, nicely cooked and good sauce. Soft, corporate hero bread, nothing exciting, but still very good overall. There is a small seating area with about four small tables, really more of a smallish takeout place. There is a military facility of some kind across the street, so a lot of the clientele are uniforms. Ample parking in the back or on the street. Drinks are limited to corporate bottled beverages- coke/pepsi/gatorade/snapple. Will be back again anytime I'm in the area. read more
