We did not enjoy our evening at Frankie Bones, Bluffton. We arrived a few minutes early for a 7 PM reservation- Martin table for 6. We asked if we could get cocktails while waiting. We attempted to sit at an open hi-top, the hostess yelled over to us that " hi-tops were for dining customers. Not to sit there." The bar was completely full, and nowhere to sit so we stood around the bar area and then went outside to wait. No- cocktails. Our table was a booth which didn't fit us, so we were seated in a different room. Service was terrible. Waiter appeared overwhelmed. Good natured, getting house wine for a premier Chardonnay confused. Hubby, and 2 male friends wanted Prime rib, which was sold out at 7:00 PM on a Tuesday evening. We then considered just having appetizers and leaving. I wish we had. When restaurants price their entrees, ala carte $39.00 & $49.00 etc, they are setting a high bar for a superior dining experience. This was neither for me. As I sat and waited for the next disappointment, 2nd round of drinks not delivered, after 3 reminders. My dinner companions clearly disappointed, began coaching each other "to just be cool with it". Let's face it, we're stuck here. Miserable. My petit filet arrived, sans blue cheese sprinkles, perfectly cooked, lukewarm on a very big plate with 3 slices of tired mushroom, with 1 single dried out fingerling potato sliced into 4 tiny wedges. As everyone else got their food, their shock and disappointment became dreadful. Seafood entree from tinned shrimps and tiny scallops??? Unbelievable. As we were leaving, We passed 3 or 4 employees at the hostess stand. They didn't acknowledge us. At this time the establishment was very quiet, but not one person said anything to us. No -thanks for coming here, enjoy your evening, not one word. . We will never go back. I know it takes a lot of training, experience and precision to manage a restaurant. Really wanted to like this place based on previous reviews. The calamari was huge batter falling off, flavor was good about the only thing with flavor all night. The chicken parm was bland. Not crispy no flavor on the chicken or the breading, pasta was flavorless not enough sauce. The prime rib ordered rare was over cooked, missing some flavor in horseradish needed some type of au jus sauce, the baked potato side was bland as well. read more

The food and service was good. The problem is if you have a food allergy, watch out. A lot of confusion here. My wife's allergic to soy. The chef said she could have the fish. , but not the rice. The fish can out with rice and coleslaw which if made with mayo, would have soy in it unless it was canola. Then there seemed to be a lot of oil on the plate, so we wanted to re-affirm the fish was ok, then another person other than the chef said she could eat everything. My wife didn't take the chance on the rice and coleslaw, but she ate the fish with no problems. Seems strange that the chef wouldn't know what's in the good, but some manager would. One of the best meals we've ever had on the island. My wife started with wedge salad and then salmon for her main dish. Very, very good. I started with mussels, which were over the top delicious. Then I had the Jackpot, consisting of 4oz filet, pork tenderloin and shrimp stuffed with blue crab meat...WOW!! Madina was the best server we have had in some time. Service was awful, Kaylee only took our drinks and food order, she barely checked up on us. We had to ask the other servers to get us refills. Food was cold. The general manager came to our table because my daughter steak was overcooked and told us it was the lightening was off. Kids food came last after everyone else's. My daughters pancakes were completely raw! We sent them back and it was still raw. The general manager did give us 50% off but it was more the inconvenience of service and food then anything. I was a favorite of this restaurant. But the last two times the quality of food has gone down. It's a shame.

Upon entering the hostess wanted us to sit directly under a hideously obnoxious huge red light spelling out "Frankie Bones". I immediately said I didn't care to sit under the glare of that light. Interestingly 2 or 3 other groups came in and objected to sitting in the same place! I requested a couple other booths nearby and the hostess said they were "reserved". These booths were never occupied during our meal. She in turn asked us to sit at a table behind the server station next to the kitchen door which was the worst location for anyone wanting a peaceful meal....instead we were forced to listen to the servers jokjng and complaining and the kitchen door continually opening and closing during the entire meal. One diner ordered mussels. He said they were gritty and fishy tasting. I tried a couple and they tasted "old", not fresh. I ordered a seafood pasta with penne pasta and when brought out it was not penne...I brought it to the attention of the server who said they would take it back and get the correct pasta. The other orders came and another diner ordered the Cod Savannah which was not hot, but COLD. She didn't ask it to be returned as my order was still in the kitchen and the meal was up to that point was an embarrassment. My order did finally return steaming hot in 15 minutes after the other diners were practically done eating. Extremely disappointing to say the least! We ordered carrot cake for dessert which was not real carrot cake but some sort of spice cake which was stone dry and hard. It was inedible. To make a truly awful meal worse was that both the other diner and myself that ate the mussels were sick during the night from the tainted mussels. We had one alcohol drink...the tab came out to be over $190 for 3 people! Upon inspection FB had charged me twice for the seafood pasta entree they had gotten wrong! I had to get up to find a waiter to have the bill corrected. Our waitress was good for the most part, but was spread out waiting other tables and was often hard to flag down. Other than that the entire experience was terrible. The management at FB's need refresher training or something! Absolutely unaware and no quality control whatsoever! I'm sorry to have to write all this, but if these restaurants are going to charge so much for food I expect at least a mediocre return on my money! What I got was abysmal. read more

We usually have wonderful dinners here. I love the patio which is very COVID friendly. We ordered a a tomato caprese salad. It arrived with very little dressing and no onions. A quick trip to the kitchen fixed the salad . I ordered a fish stew which is usually very good. The Cioppino arrived on the cool side. There is nothing worse then cold fish stew. By the time they reheated the fish stew it was seriously over cooked. The garlic bread was hard as a rock. I think they stuck it in the micro wave . On the other hand my husbands pork chop was perfect. I really think my dinner sat while they finished up the pork chop. It will be awhile before we give them another try. read more

Had an Amazing meal! Luis was my server. I said i wanted a Pinot Noir. He recommended Meiomi Pinot Noir to us. We got it. It was delicious. My new favorite! We ordered a couple apps. We had Calamari and Mash potato spring rolls. Wow! So good! The chilled beet salad was good too. For dinner we had Salmon Oscar and Chicken Paisano. Needless to say we were stuffed! We had lunch today ordered two lunches both came out together but one was incorrect the waitress said she ordered it incorrectly but would have it reordered. Had to wait additional 15 minutes. By the time it arrived the 1st lunch was eaten for fear it would have been cold. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. My husband and I went and tried several times, all 10/10 in our book. We are happy Frankie Bones is now in Bluffton as we enjoyed eating there on HHI. The restaurant is a good size with indoor and outdoor seating. The conference room is at least twice the size of HHI. Its very clean and nicely decorated. We have enjoyed every dish we have ordered. We even ended up there for brunch on Sunday and although the menu was different for brunch and we did not know that beforehand we were still able to order our favorites that were not on the brunch menu. Very accommodating and pleasant service and atmosphere. We have even gone with our kids and they have the standard kids menus with crayons. Plenty of room for people with family's and those who prefer adult time at the bar. read more

I spent 2 weeks trying to get reservations for the band new Frankie Bones and finally got to go Sunday night. Great place and overall very happy. Service was a tiny bit slow, but they were very busy and we were not in a hurry... just a bit hungry! :). The toasted ravioli and Fried Green Tomato Caprese app's were delish. My husband had the Spaghetti Squash with chicken and I had the fetuccinne alfredo with shrimp. My husband overall enjoyed his dish very much, though he was a bit disappointed there were onions in it, which were not on the menu, but that's his fault for not asking the server. I thought the fetuccinne and alfredo sauce were amazing, but was not thrilled with the shrimp. They were incredibly smelly and as much as I absolutely love seafood, I don't like to smell it. They were also quite salty. We took leftovers home and I just threw away the shrimp and very much enjoyed the fettuccine and Alfredo sauce. We also took a piece of key lime pie and cannelloni "to go" because we were too full to eat them there. I think overall price for food was very adequate except for the deserts. They were quite small for the price. I did have one quirk, which I have at most restaurants and that is when our main dish is served before they clear out the appetizer plates. The man who brought our main dishes had his hands full and had no where to put our food because we had 2 appetizer plates and 2 small plates on the table. My husband and I ended up stacking the plates together and holding them up while he put our food down on the table and then he took our dirty plates. I would not normally expect this to happen at a nicer restaurant such as FB, but it did. Anyway, we will definitely return and try some of their other dishes. read more

Sort of difficult to review this restaurant. The food came out incorrect, and when we tried to correct it, it came back even worse off than the first place. The waiter was pretty clueless about what he was doing, and threw out a lot of information that really wasn't accurate. After all several returns to the kitchen, we eventually got the appropriate meals, and after four tries we got a second glass of wine. That including asking our waiter twice, the assistant manager once as well as one time with the manager. I'm not sure if it's a case of inexperience, as the restaurant has only been open three weeks. But this is a SERG restaurant and as such I expect better. Not gonna lie, very disappointed in this particular restaurant. EDIT. The manager did give us consideration after the meal and apologized for the issues we had. We'll give it a couple weeks and chalk this up to "growing pains". I'll be interested to see if the waiter who tried to tell me roasted potatoes were the twice baked casserole is still there! read more

Food and service were good, but if you have a food allergy. Go at your own risk, there seems to be confusion between the chef and manager on what's in the food. Even after they said we can't eat the rice , they put it on the plate anyway with coleslaw that we couldn't eat either. I have eaten dinner here often and it is amazing. However, we went for lunch today and it wasn't very good. I got the burnt end sandwich with fries. It was borderline bad. The shoe string fries were cold and not very good. I have had burnt ends from the Butcher Market and this was no where near as good. They weren't burnt at all. My husband got the salmon bowl and there was not inch salmon at all. read more
