Just had my standard poodle in on saturday. Wow So good looking and so happy. I asked to see the area where he would go and the owner at no hesitation said sure come on in. I was so happy to see the pups playing. Tom the owner showed me a cute facebood video of them playing. by the time I got back my jake had his own video. I felt great. I went to all the local facilities since I just moved to lawrence st. and needed to make a descision where to go. 90pct of people in my building and the dog park all said use Tom. it might cost just a tad more than Roco and Jezebel but its worth it. I also cant believe that Clark pet only quoted me $40 for a standard poodle. No one in their right mind could do my dog for that price. (someting suspicious about that place). I called three local vets. Hope, Vinegar Hill and Cobble hill. All said go to Perfect Paws. I looked at the history, YOUTUBE and Facebook stuff and it was great. Many people at Hillside dog park use other places but all said Tom was the best groomer. I have to say. My Jake looked grerat, the gift bag was awesome, he wanted to stay, and the price $95 for a full Standard everything from soup to nuts was included was very nice compared to his groomer in tribeca $175. I was happy they didi a follow up on my questions and concerns and to top it off they told me he had a cyst on his foot that I didnt see. This is the place to go. Love it. I was so relieved when I picked up my doggie after his appointment at Perfect Paws on Saturday. As a recent adoptive parent, my first experience with dog grooming was pretty awful. I dropped him off at a neighborhood dog groomer, whose ill-informed helper just stuffed him in a kennel to wait hours for the groomer to show up at work. Even after I told them he doesn't do well with being caged up, and is fearful of men, and I'd rather not have him wait a long time. He ended up spending 5-6 hours there. Both me and the dog weren't happy after that experience. At Perfect Paws, after I was questioned extensively about my wants and dislikes, and my pet's allergies and habits, Aaron came around the counter and greeted my dog in a really friendly way. He picked him up and carried him into the back to play with the other dogs until his appointment started. My dog was so content he didn't even bark when I left. When I picked him up, just 3 hours later, his hair was exactly how I wanted and he was happy. I could tell he'd had a lot of fun...he strutted his new haircut all the way home. That's all I could ever hope for...but on top of that I even got a little welcome bag with a toy and treats for trying out Perfect Paws. My dog and I will definitely be back! read more

DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS GROOMER! They are hurtful and only care about making a fast buck. I dropped off my small dog for a grooming, and they shaved him to the bone. His body was sore, and they nicked him between his legs which started to get infected. I had to bring him to the vet. The dog could barely walk for 4 days. I tried to reach the groomer to talk, and the owner, Tom, would not come to the phone. I was lied to and told that he was out of town for an ill family member. His nephew, Michael, pleasantly said that they stood by their work and that I should bring over an invoice after we took him to the vet. We saw our vet who took good care of the dog as always. When I brought the invoice to Tom, he told me that my dog was ugly and neglected and that they didn't care about what happened. Furthermore, I was told that I was a neglectful dog owner, which is the furthest thing from the truth. He refused to talk, and threatened me about leaving his shop. When my husband called to talk to him, he hung up the phone. They clearly don't care about the animals they groom, and don't stand by their word. read more

I've been going to Tom for more than 4 years with my Golden Retriever. Granted, we don't need haircuts and grooming every other week like some breeds, but that's where Perfect Paws shines. They are so much more than just a grooming shop. We stop in every day on our evening walk for a treat from Tom, a quick nail trim, or to chat about everything from politics and neighborhood happenings, to more serious things like questions I have about the health and nutrition of my dog. Tom has a wealth of knowledge and is always my "pre-vet" call, to make sure I don't embarrass myself by freaking out to the vet about something that can be easily treated with some oatmeal or pumpkin in my boy's food. It is a great part of Brooklyn Heights, and an invaluable resource for me and my dog. Go for the grooming, stay for the treats and toys, and go back again and again for the warm and friendly people. nice staff. nice price. I was less than happy with what happened at Clark pet. they butchered my dogs nails. I was so up set when I left I walked around the corner to Perfect Paws and just asked could the reccommend a vet in the area. they actually took care of my dogs feet and didnt charge me. they told me all the other place had to do was use stik it powder to and clean the feet but the other place just gave me my dog back with bloody paws. Word to the area dont fall for the discount grooming. I really should have just listened to the guys in the dog run and Sammy over at Pet emporium on Montague street and just went to Perfect Psws. No more mistakes here, I got a new groomer and the best it just so happens that the owners background and degrees are in pet nutrition and we talked and he put me on the right track for my pups health. Tom I hope you read your reviews. I have gone into Roco and Jezebel on several occassions(they keep pulling my reviews) and the owner just bad mouths your store. I am not here to start a war but you should know Andrea is lethal and says god awful things about you. and the Clark pet guys do it to you and sammi and andrea. Whats up with this neighborhood. You and Sammi are the only two decent people in the area. You and your staff have sent me to Rocco and Jezebel on many occassions for food, treats and the italian stuff I like. I just had to stop going there. Please just know she is talking trash about you and your store and tried to get me to be her client by undercutting you. Can't say enough. Call around to any pet place and the say perfect paws is the place. I even called some of the other groomers and they even told me to call Tom at perfect paws because they were booked. That says a ton. The hillside dog park raves about this place, Dr. Neuman in DUMBO raves about this place, Cobble hill animal clinic raves about this place, DUMOB Pet told me Tom was the best groomer and try him out, Woofs and Whiskers told me and so did Dog Abbey and Monster Mutt, What an impressive line-up of Kudos. The only people to slam them and say they were terrible was NYC Pet.com On clark street, But it seems they had an agenda with another groomer. After having a bad experience at another spot in the Heights I now have a really good place to bring my pet. Prices are very resonable, staff is talented with animals and knowing how to treat people. Fun retail, you can spend a day shopping for things in the store you dont find anywhere else. I also like that they sell things with a cause attached to it, for veterans, cancer cause and more. My dog has never looked so well and I must say there is a huge difference when the owner is the groomer and comes with 25 years experience. Over the top service. I cant say enough about this really humble place in the little nook of the Heights. I would reccommend this place to everyone. My only mistake was not coming here first, You live and learn. went to two other groomers in the area , one really bad and one good but with a crazy owner. shopped all the pet places for my food and treats. two places really suck and two really take awesome care of you. outside of sammi on montague street this place ranks top with pet supplies and variety and customer service. the grooming is reall good and the price is reasonable. I love the home town feeling when you walk in and you are greeted with a smile. the owner is the groomer which i really like and look for. my dog looks great the service is great im glad sammi told me to stop by your store and just check you out. you guys are really cool kats no pun ! .lol thanks to perfect paws and the staff there for going the extra mile. read more

I brought my rescue from the C.A.C in NYC last week and was very pleased at the outcome. I was helped by the staff in such a caring way. They all fawned over my new arrival, gave me helpful hints, and when I picked up my pup I was not charged. I had tears in my eyes. I was told by the owner that since I had just adopted him he would not charge me. He then followed up by saying it was his way of saying thanks for me adopting and not buying a dog from a pet store. I was so taken back. Who does things like this anymore? Kind and caring in every manner, and fantastic grooming. I would like to thank the entire staff and let everyone know about you. WOW WOW WOW. I called so many places. Vets, pet shops, boarding places and they all point to Perfect Paws. I can see why. I brought my Bearded Collie in on the weekend and let me just say I was beyond impressed. Clean, nice people, good price, great service, and so much more. Simply the best place in Brooklyn Heights. My dog was cut badly at Clark Pet and I had to got to Vinegar Hill Vet. Dr Neuman patched her up and told me I should use Tom at Perfect Paws. She was right. the best groomer ever. Price, service, staff, quality and just overall the best. I learned a hard lesson going cheap at Clark pet which turned out to be over $200 in vet bills, so no savings. Tom is really the only true groomer in Brooklyn Heights. I love the place. They do wonderful work. the price is in line with other area shops and even a little cheaper sometimes. They treat animals very well. No cages, they play, no muzzles they work with my chow mix with no problem. Other shops have had to muzzle him but they dont. I have watched through the window and been stunned at how well Tom treats and works with my dog..... This is one for the record books, Good people, friendly, caring and sweet. I have never had such an AMAZING experience with a dog grooming service. Frank the groomer is an artist. He took my Yorkie, which, I will admit, I have been neglecting a little bit, and transformed him back into the handsome little pup he should be. I was a bit hesitant when Frank suggested what style I should do on little Sammy (my Yorkie), but after his session with Frank, I was taken back almost to tears. Frank you have a client For LIFE! This place rocks. I have used many groomers over the years some good some really bad, by far no one compares to Tom at Perfect Paws. Truth be told just try them out. They are really an amzing establishment. Everyone in my building goes there and when you call the vets and hang in the dog park everyone says the same thing Tom is awsome. He has a couple of juinor groomers that are ok , but Tom really blows everyone away. My Standard have never ever looked so great. read more

Don't use Frank if you have a wired haired dog. He said he does hand stripping and we trusted him with a few haircuts but in truth he was just shaving our Dachsund. Now she has lost her outer wirey coat and we've been told it's unlikely to grow back. She still has her wispy inner coat but she gets very cold in winter and needs sunscreen in the summer to protect her skin. We love our dog regardless of how she looks but it's a bad feeling to be lied to like that. read more

Tom is a great guy, friendly, knows dogs, cares about them. That is why I use him. I am sure that is why most people do. The service is also GOOD, no complaints. Maybe it is just brooklyn heights but he is expensive, that is my only complaint. Also, he owns the business but expects a tip in addition to cost of service...
