You won't find a nicer pet store. Brooklyn Heights is lousy with pet stores, but these guys do it right. When my basset hound was elderly and achey, they were so sweet to her. They clearly love animals and they have a really funky shop too. You should see their windows!!! They change them seasonally and the puns will they use will make your ears bleed. read more

We have been bringing our schnoodle here since he was a puppy and for over two years Tom, Michael and Maria have taken excellent care if our baby. Our pup actually pulls us to the store bc he is so excited to get there! They are true professionals and our pup always looks amazing and is so happy! We have him boarded with them and he gets to sleep at home and is NEVER put in cages like other area boarding options. Even when he is being groomed he is allowed to roam free and play! I wouldn't trust anyone else to take care of our pup. Highly recommend for grooming or boarding. read more

I took our dog for a haircut and bath and Lucy, our minigoldendoodle, came out as discussed, with a cute polka dot bandana to boot. I called and left a message, frank called me back quickly and was very communicative about his services and prices. I just moved back to NYC and was excited about finding a new groomer. I gave Frank a window of 4:30 to 6:30 and we agreed on 6:30. An hour after he was supposed to be at my house, he texts to tell me he's running late and should be there soon. I was flexible because I'm going out of town in a few days and I wanted my pup to look great. By 8pm he was not at my house and had not answered my text asking his ETA. I'm writing this now two full hours after my appointment time and I'm disheartened, and disappointed at this truly unprofessional and inappropriate conduct. While there are a few great reviews on here about the actual grooming services and I had very positive hopes, it's clear that the customer service and clear respect of time and professional boundaries and courtesy is just not present for this business. Which unfortunately is clear even in how they respond to legitimate concerns - see for yourselves how rude and patronizing their responses to previous negative reviews are. I have never written a either positive or negative review of any business before. After booking a grooming appointment for my very shy and nervous 12 year old husky mix, I simply felt compelled to sing Frank's praises from the rooftops. Short version of the story: I have a senior rescue dog and as I mentioned, she's extremely shy and fearful. She never liked being groomed, but would tolerate it a few times a year. Early spring 2017, I took her to a groomer I'd never used before, who somehow managed to badly injure her. She had a deep cut starting from the crown of head and ending at the back of her neck, requiring sedation and stitches. She was badly traumatized and I didn't think she'd ever be able to be professionally groomed again. In fact, even I couldn't get near her with a brush. She would inevitably start shaking and run from me. As a husky, she seriously sheds a few times a year, having the thick, dense undercoat that is characteristic of the breed. To say that my house was a nest of dog fur is an understatement! Enter Frank's Perfect Paws...Frank and his assistant are AMAZING. There is just no other word for what they do! Frank allowed me to remain in the van during the entire grooming session, greatly reducing my dog's anxiety. He has a wonderful way with animals. He was kind, gentle, calming, and reassuring with my dog. Not to mention this was best groom my dog has ever had. She looks like a brand new dog! I will never go to another groomer. I just picked up my "socially awkward"only child from Perfect Paws and I've never seen my baby sooooo happy and joyous to be left alone with strangers. He didn't want to come home with me!!! He had the biggest smile on his face!!!! OMG...it made me so happy...usually he's petrified. And the store owner is a DOLL!!! I could've hung out and chatted with him for hours...it felt like home for both my doggie and I. We were so welcomed there! My little ones are my children and they LOVE Frank! I'm a bit paranoid about leaving my animal kids in the care of someone I don't particularly know - especially not comfortable with someone driving them around, so I always asked him to schedule​ my kids (yes my kids shut up) when he has enough time to stay in my area. I have a terrace so I can look out and make sure the truck is still there and it always is! My little dog loves being groomed and blow dried, he always seems so happy with Frank. The only small complaint I've ever had was the cologne they sprayed on my little man - I don't like my babies all hussied up! He listened and never did it again. That's fair and all you can ask for! I then made an appt for an English​ Angora I adopted who was in not so great shape. She needed to be trimmed before meeting her new vet. Frank had a small concern, called to have me come down and look at a bump he wanted me to see (she had a small bump when we adopted her, the vet said it was from her previous brothers and sisters playing too hard with her). I appreciated the call and concern. I could tell Frank loves animals and always compliments my kids. She's very sweet with Frank! Cozied right up to him! Accommodation and convenience.... five stars! Price.... two stars. I had planned poorly and found that I had no time in the upcoming weeks to groom my shitzu/bichon mix so I called frank asking if they had a same day appointment. Originally, he didn't have availability but within 10 minutes he called me back and said he could fit me in due to a pushed back appointment! He arrived within 5 minutes and had my dog groomed in half an hour. Everything looked clean and great. Her haircut was good - not the best, but wasn't picky due to the last minute nature of the appointment. What was not so great was the price. She's a small dog, 12lbs, and had been groomed a month ago so not a lot needed to be done. Either way, I ended up with a $109 bill after tax. My jaw almost dropped. I was especially shocked since reviews on yelp said they were reasonably priced even quoting as low as $65. I've been to a few groomers in Brooklyn and nyc and the most I've paid is $85. While frank was super accommodating, nice, and did a nice haircut, it definitely wasn't worth the $100+ price tag. read more

I am Very upSet with this place especially with Tom the groomer! This was the second time I have taken my teacup yorkie here to get groomed. The first time went pretty well I payed about $57 but yesterday when I took her they charged me $65 which I didnt have a problem with. When she got home I noticed she was a little depressed & didn't wanna eat and stayed in her bed for the rest of the day & night by I figured she was just maybe upset from getting a haircut or she was ma I had left her there for a couple of hours but today I bathed my dog again because she didn't come out of the groomers with that nice shampoo smell & when am blow drying her I notice a patch of missing hair and a little scab in the middle of the patch as if it had cut her!! I am furious because when I picked her up Tom didn't even come out from the back to let me know atleast the "accident" he had made! Just the thought of my fur baby crying of pain makes me sooo MAD I will NEVER take her back there again! If he would of told me what had happened it would of made it a little bit better but me having to find out on my own made it worse! read more

Last year after using Perfect Paws for a few years we took our Wheaten Terrier for bathing and grooming, with instructions to do a small trim. When I got him home I realized that he had not been trimmed at all nor were his ears cleaned as requested. When I phoned to complain, the man on the phone (probably not the owner and definitely not the groomer) said: well, our groomer had an emergency and had to leave early and couldnt complete the worked. So I asked him why I had been charged for full grooming.....he had no explanation and said to bring him back the next day, which I did. I consider this to be dishonesty. Compared to the gorgeous job we get out at our summer home near Westhampton Beach, Perfect Paws is amateurish. They need a new honest owner and an experienced groomer. I am looking elsewhere now. read more

(I'm shocked at the number of pet-oriented businesses where the employees actually seem to hate animals.) I've been bringing my cat here for "lion cuts" for a few years and they consistently do a great job. And they are extremely efficient which is essential for kitties who don't like to leave the house. And so nice, too. We used to go to a place in the city that took hours and did not result in a better haircut. My friends who bring their dogs here are also very happy with their grooming services. As a first time customer I recently brought my dog Zeus there last week for his first grooming and omg I loved it so much the people where so courteous and friendly there I just felt so comfortable leaving my dog even though I missed him so much but when I went to pick him up he looked amazing I love the job they did at perfect paws ill def will be a regular. I had good experiences here in the past, but this time at the new location my dog was limping a bit when I got him home. When my husband called to ask if anything happened he was dismissed. i was also put off by the fact that when I arrived for my appt, the groomer wasn't there and was "looking for parking". I left my dog there to be washed and prepped, and when I called an hour later to check to see if grooming started, was told again that the "groomer was looking for parking". Just seemed odd and dishonest. My dog was also not groomed the way I had asked them to and his ears weren't cleaned at all. read more

Brought my mini schnauzer-terrier mix here for his first grooming. It took a long time, but the job was great. Rico looked amazing, very cute! the one thing I will say is that I don't think his nails were trimmed, and when I asked if they were, the groomer said yes... But looking at his nails, I am pretty sure they had not been cut. That being said, I'd still take him back here to get groomed, because he looked cute as helllll! read more

I used to take my dog to the now-defunct Tailored Pet, but after a few times, the owner told me I should sedate him beforehand because they could not handle him. I was thinking of going elsewhere anyway because I noticed that my dog always smelled like cigarette smoke after Tailored Pet groomings. I then walked my dog all the way over to Perfect Paws, at its old Atlantic Ave. spot. Tom listened to my concerns, told me he had experience with rescue dogs such as mine, took my dog right away, and was all praise for his good behavior after. And my dog looked wonderful. I have been taking my dog to Perfect Paws for 7 years now, and each time, he has come out well-groomed and calm. I am especially comforted to know Tom does not muzzle or restrain the dogs. My malti-poo has always scared of getting groomed- she pants, shakes and is down right petrified. I took her to Perfect Paws and she was completely at ease and her cut was great. The groomers at Perfect Paws did an absolutely perfect job with our 1 year old puppy. Not only was the cut great, but the service couldn't have been better. The groomer gave tips for keeping our pup from getting anxious while being groomed. I also appreciate that dogs are not kenneled and are free to play and sniff around.
