I'm honestly not sure what all the hype is about. We came here because of the number of great reviews, but unfortunately our experience didn't live up to them. When we arrived it was raining and very humid, so we asked whether the air conditioning was on inside or if we would be more comfortable sitting outside. We were told the air didn't work, although we later realized it actually did, so we chose to sit outside and ended up being hot and uncomfortable. You're seated at a table but then have to go inside to order at the counter. The woman who took our order was very short with us, unfriendly, and not helpful at all. I tried asking questions about some of the menu items, the overall attitude felt more like "I don't know and I don't care" rather than an attempt to help. Customer service was definitely lacking. The waiters who brought everything out were friendly, which I appreciated. The food wasn't bad, but it was very basic and nothing stood out enough to justify the hype or make us want to come back. The best thing we had was the vanilla mocha latte. Giving three stars because the waiters were kind and the food was fine, but overall there was nothing particularly special about the food, atmosphere, or experience, and the customer service at the counter really brought it down for us. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return.
The Bottom Line 3 stars: Fratelli Cafe is very highly reviewed on Yelp and Google, but unfortunately it fell short of our expectations. Please read on. Location 3.5 stars: SW corner of Melrose and N Formosa Ave, just West of La Brea. We went there on a weekday and easily found metered street parking but I can imagine that it might be more difficult on weekends. Venue 2.5 stars: Open for Breakfast and Lunch. Older, slightly divey venue that looks better in the pictures. They have indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. We sat indoors which was full of persistent flies that wanted our breakfast and our table was so wobbly that we repeatedly spilled our coffee. They were also doing some construction either in the kitchen or the back during business hours, so you would continuously hear this sledgehammer-like sound. This was very annoying and ruined our experience. Service 4.5 stars: The staff were friendly and pleasant. Food 3 stars: We had their Filet Mignon Benedict (called the Big Ben). I am thinking that we must have picked the wrong food as their food reviews are stellar, but our steak was tough and hard to cut, and the eggs were overcooked. The Hollandaise sauce was also bland and tasteless. We also had the Chocolate Crepes with Berries which were OK. Drinks 3 stars: Beer, wine, coffee and tea. We had the Americano and the White Mocha Latte which were about average.
Finally stopped by for brunch! Unfortunately it was near the time the kitchen was closing but the staff was friendly and patient with us. However, they did seem to throw hints that they wanted to close up like they were spraying windex near us so eating with the smell of windex=not pleasurable. The food was good though but it is pricey especially for a latte. The horchata latte was $9 and it was whatever. I got an egg-white Jackson omelette with buttermilk pancakes with bananas. Both were delicious. The omelette came with potatoes and toast. It tasted fresh even though they brought it out really fast. I'd like to come back without feeling rushed because the food was good.
Came here Sunday morning for brunch. Ordered the Chiquito breakfast tacos and a bottle of mimosa with orange juice. The tacos were tasty with a good amount of chorizo. The mimosa bottle $35. The staff was friendly and efficient. Food came out pretty quick even though it started getting busy. The place has a cool rustic look inside with plenty of seating. Prices are about what you'd expect around Melrose. Overall a good brunch spot. I'd come back and try some of the other breakfast items next time.
Reliable fast-casual restaurant for a good breakfast with something for everybody. I got the Chiquito breakfast tacos, which were very good and the stand out of the meal. The rest of the food was mid, but not disappointing. The cafe itself is cute with indoor and outdoor seating. Fratelli is a safe option if you're looking for a cozy vibe in the neighborhood.
The croissant French toast was fresh and light! The biscuits and gravy were decent, needed a little more flavor but overall great. Service is okay, you order at the counter and they bring it out. Had to ask for plates 2 times and then eventually had to walk to the counter to get myself so that was a bit disappointing. Everything else is self serve... water and silverware. Outside is smaller picnic style tables. The parking is free in the lot!

I really wanted to like this place, especially with the location being right in the heart of Melrose and all the hype around LA food spots, but unfortunately our experience was pretty underwhelming overall. I ordered the F Burger, and while it looked promising, it lacked the savory flavor and seasoning I was expecting. It honestly tasted like a very basic burger with little personality. The patty had juices, but not that rich, flavorful, satisfying beefiness you expect from a good burger. It also wasn't very juicy or memorable. It's smashed and it's probably why. My wife ordered the avocado chicken sandwich, and sadly the chicken was extremely dry. It just wasn't enjoyable to eat. The fries that came with our meals were lukewarm by the time they reached the table, which added to the disappointment. Service-wise, the food also took longer than expected considering how simple the order was. Maybe they want all our order to come out at the same time? I don't know. The Smoothie "Rooty Tooty" wasn't even refreshingly cold. We actually had to order some ice. We visited on Mother's Day, so I understand places can get busy, and parking on Melrose is always hit or miss, but we still left feeling pretty disappointed with the overall experience. I'm giving 3 stars because the place itself has potential and the staff was fine, but the food quality just didn't match the expectations or pricing. Hopefully management takes feedback seriously because with some improvements in flavor, consistency, and food temperature, this place could be much better. Unfortunately for us, this may end up being both our first and last visit.
Incredible Place to have breakfast! French toast with strawberries, blueberries! So delicious! With side of syrup . Great Service, polite , and very helpful. Clean environment, inside seating with bright lights , decoration is outstanding! Positive vibes , great energy to have friends and family to eat . 10/10 well recommended. Will be back soon !
Enjoyed a delicious brunch here with my husband, who showed me this place. I like the casual atmosphere and cozy interior. Although we sat indoors, I noticed that there was a ton of outdoor seating available. Apparently this restaurant is super popular on weekends, so we were able to avoid any waiting by visiting on a weekday. There are very many beverage and food options on the menu, including all-day breakfast and lunch. This restaurant even offers full vegan and vegetarian substitutions as well as dairy-free and gluten-free options. Everything sounded delicious, but we ultimately ordered these 3 dishes: Crunchy Croissant French Toast: Very delicious and indulgent. A buttery croissant is used instead of a typical slice of bread, making the dish extra rich to eat. The bananas, strawberries, granola, powdered sugar, and white chocolate drizzle brought the entire thing together. I really liked the crispy outer layer and soft interior. Green Eggs & Ben: Served with a side of potatoes, this is a twist on the classic eggs benedict. The 2 soft-poached eggs were covered in a creamy hollandaise sauce. The runny egg yolks mixed very nicely with the english muffins, applewood-smoked bacon, and sautéed spinach. Crispy Fried Shrimp Tacos: My least favorite of our 3 dishes, but still tasty. There were 3 tacos stuffed with fried shrimp, cabbage, carrots, cilantro, and chipotle aioli. Because of the sauce, there was a small kick of spiciness. We had the option to pick fries or house saladon the side, in which we decided on the fries. The fries were nice and crispy.
Cute atmosphere, great food, quick service, and reasonable prices! I've been here twice and tried the Crunchy Croissant French Toast and the Chicken Club Wrap. * The croissant french toast had more of a softer french toast texture than a flaky croissant texture. I liked the fresh fruits and the crunchy granola as toppings. It was filling and a fun sweet breakfast. * The chicken club wrap was delicious and filling! It also comes with either fries or a salad on the side. The chicken was tender, the cheese was melty, and it didn't feel heavy for lunch. It tasted exactly like I expected it to. I would recommend this restaurant for an affordable and easygoing meal. There is street parking (easier to park in the neighborhoods) and indoor and outdoor seating.
Arrived on a Saturday at around 11 am. There was no wait and there was plenty of seating. We ordered the huevos rancheros, signature croissant French toast and the bacon hash. The huevos rancheros were pretty good! It didn't taste too greasy/heavy and had a nice balance of flavors. The bacon hash was mediocre. I wasn't sure what I was expecting but it just tasted like bacon, eggs and veggies mixed together. There wasn't anything that stood out about that dish. Lastly, the signature croissant French toast was delightful! I thought it was an interesting concept and it tasted yummy! Kind of reminded me of pancakes. Would recommend ordering that if you have a sweeter palette. Service was excellent! You order with the cashier first and then they bring your food over to you. We received our food pretty quickly and the workers there were kind. Parking might be a bit difficult since it's on a busy street but we were able to find parking right next to the cafe. Not sure I'd come back since there are several other brunch spots to try but it's worth a try!
It's a very cute cafe, nice interior. It was so hard to choose what I wanted to eat but I got The Chicken croissantwich. My friend got the Smash Burger. I think my sandwich was good with the first bite however as I kept eating I realize that i wanted more flavor. I wish there was more chipotle sauce. The sweet potato fries were pretty good! Very crispy. For the smash burger, I was surprised to see that it didn't come with lettuce or tomato but peppers. For this restaurant, you would order at the front and they bring out your food to you. Very kind staff and good service. I would come again if I was in the LA area.

We experienced quick and friendly service here, which was a plus. We decided to sit on the patio, but unfortunately, there were a lot of gnats that kept flying into our drinks. We eventually moved to a different table and were able to enjoy our meal, but next time I'll definitely choose to sit inside instead. As for the food, it was great overall. I ordered an omelette and it was really good. My adventure partner had the bacon hash skillet he expected hash browns but it came with country potatoes instead. He still enjoyed it and thought it was tasty. We also shared the French toast. It was decent, but nothing special; if you're a fan of French toast and don't expect much, this is the spot for you. read more
We ate at Fratelli for brunch on a Monday. I joined the wait list before leaving our hotel, but I don't think that was necessary on a weekday around 11:30 am. The restaurant is cute and quirky with outdoor and indoor seating. There is ample street parking and a lot not far away. We had a Jackson's Omelette, croissant French toast, and chicken and waffles. My daughter had a caramel latte, and we had drip coffee. All the coffee was delicious. Our meals were tasty and came out quickly. The servers are kind and attentive. Stopped by this spot on our way to SF roadtrip. Wanted to try something out in LA area, out of our usually area. We arrived right when they opened. We were a little confused because when we walked in, a server sat us at a table. After a few minutes, he asked if we had ever been here before, because it's not a server order restaurant. You place your order at the order cashier, they give you a number and then they deliver the food. They have a pretty extensive menu. They also have an expresso bar. Lots to choose from. We ordered the chilaquiles (red), the fried chicken sandwiching, the eggs Benedict and a bagel. Food was delivered fairly quickly. Except for the fried chicken sandwich that my son enjoyed, food is nothing special. The chilaquiles and eggs Benedict was nothing special, and worth returning. I can eat breakfast anytime of day, and Fratelli Cafe delivers! Their croissant French toast with fresh strawberries & blueberries, applewood smoked bacon, eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice, & the Newtown burrito were definitely worth trying! I really enjoyed the butteriness of the French toast paired w. fresh fruit & the tender crispness of the bacon! The ambiance is chill, a step up from casual. Their decor is simple. The service fine. Nothing stellar, but I'll definitely be back for the Croissant French Toast! read more

Extremely solid brunch place. I think it would be the first 5 star I would give a brunch place. We sat at where the server would pick up the food from the kitchen and wait the tables... I saw many different types of foods like eggs bennies, chicken and waffles, pancakes, hashes, etc.... The chicken and waffles were 9/10 and the hash was 7/10. Great waffles and great fried chicken because it was crispy, flavorful, and juicy. I also got a cappuccino that had bad foam and too bitter, but that's ok. I'd still give it a 5. read more

One of the best breakfast spots! We came on vacation to LA and it had good reviews so we thought we 'd give it a try! OMG!! Beautiful place first of all; seating inside and outside; helpful staff. Now the food!! We were a party of 4- had a chocolate crepe; a crunchy peanut butter waffle; a breakfast burrito; a shakshuka (eggs with tomatoes, feta and parsley) and an order of crunchy croissant French toast! The concept of going up to the counter to order your food and pay for it already should be more common. I personally hate waiting for someone to come take my order, serve me my food & have to flag them down to bring the check because it wastes so much time. but Fratelli is doing it right! Biscuit benny: 9/10 The chicken was juicy and crispy. The biscuits were soft. I do wish it had more gravy on top though. Great portion of potatoes and honestly my favorite, which says a lot since I really only like hash browns. Allmans breakfast burrito: 9/10 Simple but delicious! Exactly what my bf wanted. Generous amount of potatoes as well and said the same about them being his favorite. ??? Croissant french toast: 10/10 Unsure which one it is but my friend always gets it and says it is AMAZING! This place offers both indoor and outdoor seating with the views of a busy Melrose street. There is a sign at the front to wait for the host to be seated but this doesn't make sense because you have to get up from your table to go back to the front to place your order. It would just make sense to have people order their food first and then choose their own table. The cashiers came off very weird and nobody comes to check on your table during the duration of your meal. You pay for everything when you go order your food and they still flip the screen for the tip option. The only thing I can think of that goes to tip is the person who walks you to your table. The whole system was new to me but it looks like it works for them. Anyways, the food was really good. I recommend you try the steak burrito. The reason I ordered it was because it had mushrooms and broccoli (two of my favorite vegetables) and it made the burrito delicious. The steak was also flavorful. I specifically came for the French toast crossiant and it actually worked well. The bread was a bit dry but the fruits were fresh and sweet and the syrup also helped. read more

After a long flight that started early from the east coast, we needed a good refuel Brunch. We searched and this spot, in the Melrose District, came up. A good amount of outdoor seating maybe about the same as indoor? They were semi-busy on a Wednesday morning around 10:30. We lucked out and found street parking right across the street. (2 hours free). Order at counter and food is brought out to your table. Some ordered Breakfast/some lunch. Create your own omelette with Spinach, mushrooms, goat cheese, Lox and avocado was delicious! The Wagyu Smash Burger and the New Breakfast Burrito (filled with eggs and Chorizo) didn't disappoint. We enjoyed a Cappucino and an Iced Mocha. Maybe the coolest bathroom ceiling ever. As we were wrapping up, they started to get busy for Lunch. Would imagine the weekends get busy also. Friendly and upbeat people working behind the counter. Solid Brunch spot. read more

This place was absolutely popping on Sunday afternoon. I was thankful I was able to add myself to the waitlist ahead of time. They also seem to turn tables quickly and it didn't seem like anyone was waiting too long. I personally made a big mistake by trying to order light and healthy-ish here. This is not the place to do that. By the looks of it, it's the heartier, richer, and sweeter dishes that really thrive. I'm looking forward ordering correctly next time! YAYs: Biscuits & gravy- were tasty. The gravy is chicken based which was great for me since I don't eat pork. NAYs- Bagel 'n cream cheese- pass. The bagels are nothing to write home about. May have even been store bought. I personally didn't love the cream cheese either. Smoothie- these smoothies are in the pricier side if you plan to modify with preferred ingredients, and it just didn't taste that great. It was very watery, and I'm used to a thicker mix Side of Avo and turkey sausage- Avo was ripe, turkey sausage was interesting. Not my favorite. * I still gave 4 stars cause clearly I ordered wrong. The owner is truly amazing and made my transition to Los Angeles so much easier by giving me a place where I could always count on great food and good energy. Got seated right away thanks to yelp waitlist. We were greeted by a friendly host/server and ordered at the cashier. All the staff here was welcoming and kind! Reason for the extra star! My friend and I got the Samson bagel sandwich and Chicken Croissandwich. Considering it was not busy, we waited almost 30 mins for our food. Maybe because we waited so long, we had higher expectations.. The food was just OK. I'm a big fan of lox bagel sandwich but not this one. The bagel itself was so tough and hard to chew and the potatoes weren't really seasoned. The croissandwich was better but nothing special. Might be back for another try and order popular items. Located in the heart of melrose this is a great brunch spot with a loaded menu. There is definitely something in the menu for everyone and the food s great quality. Seated by the hostesss and then you order at the counter and they will bring to your table. The staff were superb.The coffee was good as well ! Chicken Salad Sandwhich- ingredients chicken, celery, candied walnuts, apples, Cranberries lettuce tomato and onion. Outside we were greated by a QR Code and a sign wait outside until seated. Scanned we scanned the code and started to read the menu. A few minutes later we were asked inside or outside inside of course it was already 100 degrees so air conditioning is a must. He showed us our table and said orsr at the counter when your ready. I shoukd have ordered the Chicken Avo sandwich like my daughter and wife but me thinking we could try something else and share bites.. 2 Chicken Avo and 1 Chicken salad sandwiches wife went for the soup daughter and went for the fries. When I asked the girl at the counter how much onions were in the chicken salad sandwich she said not much... Smart counter waitering because your tipping ahead of your meal not knowing if your going to enjoy it or not.... So our order was complete and we sat down eagerly waiting to try our food. Both Chicken Avocados looked amazing and both said they enjoyed them buy this review is about my experience and sorry to say they fell super short. ....When I recieved my Sandwhich this what I got , Onions onions and more onions so much red onion my stomach still hurts 2 hours later... Here we're the ingredients in my sandwhich Onions X10, chicken finely chopped, mayonnaise, celery & tomato. This is what was missing chopped apples, cranberries and candied walnuts... The seasoned fries were good but can't measure there grade on French fries.. Cost $75.54 that included tip. My recommendation: Go extra light with the chopped onion and don't forget adding the candied walnuts, apples and cranberries. What pulled me away from the Chicken Avo was how refreshing the description of the chicken salad reads in the menu. Not sure how soon I will come back, but maybe I can give them a second go if I can get what the menu describes... Inside did have a different kind of vibe which seemed appealing for everyone dining inside. read more

The service was amazing! They were sweet and answered all my questions. The line was fairly long but it moved quickly. The coffee was 8/10! The pastries looked amazing but I didn't have any of them. There was lots of room to sit and enjoy your coffee but it was a busy morning! read more
Love this restaurant! Located on Melrose Ave around West Hollywood, this little restaurant is quite popular. I went around 10am, and had to wait just 10min before getting seated for a party of 2. We got a small table inside by the window (NOTE: the outside was too hot for my comfort). Once you get assigned a table by the host/server, you need to stand in-line to order the food, get a number, and then go back to your table. I got the napoleon crepe and the steak burrito and let me just say that they were delicious. The steak burrito really hit the spot! Great flavor, done medium which was a good texture and chew for a burrito I think (steak should otherwise be medium rare, IMO). The napoleon crepe was also quite good, lots of blueberry and strawberry on top, albeit a little too sweet for me, and the crepe was a little overcooked and not as soft as it should've been; but if you like a chewy crepe then this is the stuff for you! However, the orange juice that my friend got was a little expensive for what it is, so buyer beware if you order drinks. Parking was easy to find on the street, despite the busy morning of brunch goers. Make sure to look at the signs, you have to pay at most of those street parking spots even on Sunday because of the location. Overall, great food, solid burrito, efficient service/friendly servers, space a little small but cozy enough, and parking was not too bad. Would go back if I'm in the area! Definitely worth a try if you haven't been, and worth a second try if you didn't like it the first time. Solid brunch place. read more

The burrito was very filling, the juice was just what I needed, the potatoes so crispy, the croissant toast as a sweet treat, and the peanut butter smoothie was so creamy. I recently had delivery from Fratelli Cafe and zero complaints! Everything was packed up nicely and promptly for me. I ordered a breakfast burrito and it had the perfect balance of egg, cheese and bacon on it. I did need to add a little sauce to spice it up but it was delicious! Good sized portion, price wasn't bad, plus it came with breakfast potatoes. Plus when I ordered, they were doing BOGO - um a deal!? I'm in~!!! Excellent cafe. Beautifully structured corner spot that seems like a converted garage. Lots of natural light for their indoor tables and plenty of shade for their outdoor tables as well... Standing outside in the sun for the servers to come grab you for a seat is a bit unorthodox but luckily we didn't have to wait more than a couple minutes for an indoor table on a Thursday morning. The service here was very quick and friendly. I liked their menu and decided to try their shakshuka, my sister ordered the chocolate crepe and we had a couple sides and a honey latte. Everything came out rapid! The bacon was so sweet and pleasantly salty. Cooked to perfection according to my preference (not overly crisp) i liked the shakshuka as well. Giant portion served in a mini skillet and a heart shaped bread slice split in 2. My sister liked their crepe, nice presentation and very good/sweet plump strawberries topped the crepe. We enjoyed our meal a lot! The honey latte was delicious as well, nice sweet flavor and good jolt of espresso to start the day. Cute cafe :-) read more

What is the maximum amount of people you can take in for a party on a weekday?
Hi! We typically can only do 6 per table the most. It all depends on timing as well. If you can come in early, we would be glad to accommodate more than that.
Sunday brunch: can I make reservations for a party of four?
In our experience, you are better off calling ahead. They are prompt to answer the phone and will let you know if they are taking reservations ahead. In our case they were so busy that we had to put our name there when we arrived and be at the booth…
