    Croque Madame
    Laura D.

The food here is spectacular in presentation and taste. The soufflé pancakes are sinfully fluffy and amazing. I ordered them with fresh fruit and the combination is great. I also ordered a croque madame. It was delightful and not too rich like others that u have had. We sat outside in the patio and that was such a nice place to sit friends and chat for a good while with great food. The only downside is the parking. It is a bit hectic to find a place to park.

You can't go to Flippers without trying the pancake soufflé because when in Rome Rome, I also ordered a side of hashbrowns and chicken. I thought the chicken would've been pieces of chicken because the menu had pieces of chicken, but it was actually cut up fried thighs. The pancakes have an eggy taste so if you don't like eggs don't order this. It was a sunny day so we sat outside and enjoyed lunch, found quick parking on the street and the server was nice

This review is based on three different visits over the past couple of months. Flipper's is fairly new to the neighborhood I live in, and they're a welcomed addition to the Fairfax District in West Hollywood. Please see the picture of the menu to get a full description of the meals I've eaten. First up was the "Two Eggs Any Style." I ordered scrambled eggs with bacon and the portions were good for the price. For me, the bacon wasn't very crispy and a little too greasy, but it tasted good enough. This meal comes with a salad, with a tasty dressing; avocados, tomatoes, and two tiny pieces of toast. I ordered a side of fries ($9, yikes) that were perfect. Crispy and very warm. Next visit I had the "Mushroom Omelette." It was a good size omelette and was hot upon delivery. I chose the bacon which again was tasty, but not crispy and too greasy. To compliment my meal, I selected the fries and toast which came with my meal. On another visit, I selected the "Croque Madame." This was really good and a decent sized portion. It arrived very warm and tasted great. I tried the Home Fries with this meal, and I was disappointed. They were overcooked and cold. I should have ordered the fries as those are great. I had a side of a Japanese style "Strawberry Banana Pancake" and it was very flavorful and delicious. The pancake also had blueberries inside. The staff is very friendly and helpful with any questions with the menu. My only complaint with two of the three visits is having to ask for refills of coffee, butter for the toast, extra napkins, etc. Unfortunately, on each visit no one came back to check up on us after the food was dropped. Not a deal breaker and I'll continue to eat here, but the service could be elevated a bit. Limited free parking in front or plenty of metered parking on Fairfax Avenue.

Great neighborhood gem! We've been several times already! and I keep wanting to go back to try all the dishes. The food tastes great and presentation matches the menu photos. Every staff memeber we've experienced are friendly, It has a large patio and plenty of outddoor seating most of the tables and seats are spread out. The biggest fav and plug is it's dog friendly! But my only request is to better keep the ground cleaner. 2nd time I noticed the ground had debris and looked dirty, therefore I don't care to leave my pup on the ground in some areas.

Visually perfect. See attached. So misleading. Chicken very over fried, meat hard to discern from dry bones. Special syrup so sweet it was inedible. Made me think abt how good the chicken and waffles are at yardbird. If this is the thought running thru my mind at Flipper's... not a good sign. The husband, of his eggs benny, said "the egg, ham, salad, etc. was delicious, but pancake base is v dry. The hollandaise, not the biggest fan. Tastes v off." I will never, ever be back.

We had Flippers in Shibuya last month and were missing Japan so much that when we found out there's a location in WeHo, we had to go! We ordered the fresh fruit soufflé pancake, the caramel banana chocolate soufflé pancake, and the eggs benedict with lox. Everything looked incredible and the pancakes are genuinely something special. They're super cloudy and fluffy, they just melt in your mouth. That said, they are very eggy so that's definitely something to know going in. It's an acquired taste for sure. Honestly though, it didn't quite hit the same as Japan. I was hoping it would and I wasn't expecting that difference, but it just wasn't there. Still a solid experience and worth trying if you love soufflé pancakes and haven't had them before. 3.5/5 overall. If this review helped, a thumbs up is always appreciated

Great brunch spot. The avocado toast was the standout -- loaded with fresh mozzarella pearls and cherry tomatoes, and the bread had a nice hearty crust. Fries were crispy and came with both ketchup and a side sauce, and the mixed greens salad with the creamy drizzle was a nice light complement. Coffee kept coming, which I appreciated. Portions were generous for the price. Would go back.

We LOVE it here it's not only how cute the place is and how good the food is, it's also the service and attention to details. Makua and Denise make your day very special that you would love to stay and keep eating. Food is not everything, it's the people you share it with. Thank you very much 10 Stars

I would not wish any breakfast companion in the world but you. Without further delay let's begin this spectacular review. Flipper's is a popular local breakfast spot in WeHo that offer a breadth of items. It is located in a tiny plaza on Fairfax avenue. From Japanese style soufflé pancakes to chicken 'n waffle to burgers and fries and toasts etc. We came as first time customer and arrived on a late sunny morning. Its exterior bldg has a vibrant yellow that really stands out on the street. Interior and exterior atmosphere were relaxing. I had a Fruit Pancakes and OJ. Both were absolutely delightful. Pancakes were soft and fluffy and its fruits were fresh as well as my OJ. A young white female staff was affable and warm. Service was spot on albeit depends on what you order. For instance, soufflé pancakes take ~20 mins to make. It's just how they're made. Prices were fairly marked. Parking lot and street metered parking are available. Collectively, it is a nice little breakfast spot with instagramable food. ;D Lol. Overall, I bloody enjoyed their pancakes! I recommend them.

Surprised that there wasn't a wait for a Friday. We ordered and everything came out in a timely manner. All the sides were really good (especially the hashbrowns), the pancakes on the other hand were okay. I've had soufflé pancakes before at another restaurant and I feel like I was basing my idea on how it would taste on those pancakes. These pancakes were moist and didn't really have flavor so I didn't really like them. The maple butter is different but I think I can do without

The food and vibe was top notch! We were seated immediately as we arrived to our reservation. Parking was bit tedious as I had to park a block away, but the restaurant is located in a plaza with some of its own parking. Our server was fantastic and accommodating. Our food came to us exactly as we ordered and in a timely manner. We also got a side of chicken and breakfast potatoes afterward and it was delicious. I would definitely return, my friend and I will definitely be returning and recommending Flipper's to our friends and family. Thank you for the amazing breakfast!!

The soufflé pancakes are such a yummy delicacy! I came as a solo diner and got seated immediately at the bar. My pancakes were ready in a shorter time than my waitress expected which was a nice treat. I was given maple syrup but honestly these are great without any syrup so I didn't even need it! My onlyyyy critique is that the chicken i ordered on the side was meh. Overcooked and tough chicken bites that were hard to eat. I could've gone without ordering the chicken bites. But the soufflé pancakes were great!

If you're looking for fluffy, no-frills, diner-style pancakes, then these are best in class. So if you're looking for simple, classic pancakes, then I don't think I've had better in that category. My omelette was also fluffy, fresh, and delicious. A nice surprise there since I came mostly for the pancakes. But who doesn't love a good diner that has plenty of great options for everyone? While my review shows 5 stars, I'd have given Du Par's 4.5 vs 5 stars if I could have. The service was not very attentive, pretty passive. We had to be proactive to grab our waiter's attention. And everything except for the pancakes on the menu is pretty expensive for what it is. That being said, those pancakes are top tier, and had me grinning ear to ear with each bite. After driving by several times, I finally had the opportunity to stop on in. Parking is metered street, and I was lucky to find a spot right across the way around 10:30a during the week. As you walk in, the host stand is at the end and there is seating to your left. My friend was already seated here, so I just walked on in to table. A nice waitress came over shortly thereafter, and I ordered a cocoa with oatmilk (small). This 'small' was served in a glass, whereas a large would be in a typical mug you would expect. As for the drink, it was pretty good. As we caught up, I perused the menu and decided on a side of tater tots and for the first time in my life, I ordered banana bread which I was told was the closest thing to a breakfast pastry on their menu, while he went with a chickpea scramble (no bread). I don't feel it took too long for the food to arrive since we were catching up and enjoying our drinks. The restaurant was getting busier around this time as well. The banana bread had Maldon sea salt and honeycomb butter. This wasn't bad at all; I just never really had this before but I did finish it (got the remainder of it to go for later). The tater tots were just tater tots, nothing special but a larger portion which would be great for sharing alongside a side of ketchup. Service was welcoming, the space is nice, restrooms are two separate ones for all genders. Other guests that sat near us were friendly as well which made for an all-around pleasant experience. No photos taken since I was actually enjoying the company I was in. There were a few choices I was given today to meet up, and I'm glad I chose this one. Service was fine, but nothing special. We were greeted, seated and the waitress took our orders. Once the food arrived, our waitress barely came by again except towards the end to drop off our check. Other staff did come by to clear our empty plates from the table, so that was nice. We did notice that they only provided 1 serving spoon for all of our dishes. Would've liked a serving utensil with each dish to minimize cross-contamination and mixing of flavors. Throughout our dining, there were flies and small bugs flying around, which was off-putting and annoying as we had to keep swatting them away from landing on our food. 1. Farmhouse Beet Salad (5/5) It's a good thing this was the 1st dish to arrive at our table as it left a good 1st impression. The roasted organic beets were fresh and had that earthy-tone to it. Dressed with their lemon-oregano vinaigrette, feta, arugula, and candied pecans. OMG, those candied pecans were heavenly. It's crunchy and toasted to perfection. the candied flavor of it was addictingly delicious. If they have a menu item of candied pecans, I'll order it any day. 2. Trio Taco (2.5/5) You can choose between chicken, steak, shrimp, plant-based chicken, or jackfruit. We opted for steak. The steak was fine, but for BBQ sauce used was just a dish killer. They need to rethink the choice of sauce used in these tacos. Also, not a fan of corn tortilla. Wish they gave a choice between corn and flour tortilla. 3. Artisan Bread & Butter (5/5) Their sourdough bread sliced, grilled and brushed generously with garlic olive oil. Severed with a side of whipped duckfat butter. I've never had duck fat butter before, so this was a pleasant experience to try. Not to worry, there's no duck flavor at all. It's almost like cream cheese but lighter and airer. 4. Ahi Filet (1.5/5) Sesame-crusted ahi with a side wasabi aioli. The ahi was so-so; definitely, not the freshest and there's no "melt-in-your mouth" joy. The wasabi aioli sauce was good though. There is a subtle spice kick from the wasabi. It's served with a side of soba noodles that was gingery and peanuty in flavor. Unfortunately, the noodles were overcooked as they stuck to each other in clumps. 5. Bacon & Blue Burger (4.5/5) Quite a satisfying burger consisting of wagyu beef, duroc bacon, aged blue cheese, caramelized onions, and arugula. It's juicy, meaty, slightly tangy from the horseradish aioli and sweet from the port wine reduction. The brioche bun was pleasantly soft. 6. Thai Ginger Salad (3/5) This salad consists of romaine lettuce as the base. It is dressed with Thai sesame dressing, which was underwhelming. The toppings for this salad include fresh mango cubes, slaw, slices of avocado, fresh peanut bits, tomato and soba noodles. It's not a bad salad, but for the price, I do not think it is worth it. 7. Superfood Longevity Salad (4/5) A salad consisting of mixed greens (lacinato kale and spring mix) with a variety of rich, nutritious toppings (organic beets, quinoa, pomegranate, radish, blueberries, almonds, dried Bing cherries, and pepitas). The dressing is a sherry vinaigrette that's tangy, creamy and light. All the ingredients came together well. If you are looking for a hearty salad, this is for you. 8. Hibiscus Rosé (4/5) Sparkling rosé with hibiscus flavor infused with grapefruit skin to give it a bit of citrus note and topped off with a micro flower to add a special touch of decor to the drink. In summary, the food looks better than it actually tastes. Come here if you want to eat out with a large party for celebration, but otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it for a special night out as the price does not justify the experience.
