Our first visit... you walk in the front door and immediately forget the restaurant is in a strip center. Interior has that small family owned feel with a high regard for service right from the start with the host. The layout is fantastic, we had no problem having a conversation even as the restaurant filled up on a Saturday night. Our server was always available, but let us take our time with menu, eating, talking, dessert. He was excellent. The food... let's just say the chef knows how to balance a plate. From our appetizer of crab cake and corn pudding, to my wife's chicken cannelloni, my flounder, to finishing with a warm chocolate cake... all were fantastic. We will definitely visit again. Came here for a double date and really enjoyed the experience. The environment is lively and welcoming -- you can tell this spot has a lot of tradition and has been a neighborhood favorite for a while. There were plenty of locals dining, which gave it a nice community feel. The food was solid overall. I had the spaghetti and meatballs -- the meat sauce was flavorful and the meatballs were decent, pretty classic and straightforward. Not sure why this place has seemingly low reviews, but I had a good dinner at Fratelli's. The pizza was the best dish that we ordered - I loved how thin the crust was. The crust was more on the crispy side, whereas I wished it was a little softer. The Truffle Pasta was alright, but not as rich in flavor as other truffle pastas that I've had; however, it was a much more affordable price point, so I understand. The Eggplant Parm was solid and a good dish that balanced out the richness of the Truffle Pasta. Their bread basket is good too but sadly only the first basket is free, there is a charge for each basket after. The service was quick and the waitstaff was attentive - they were quick to take plates away. The interior has more of a dated feel, but it carries its own charm. so, we went back tonight. and boy, does a few weeks make a big difference. after sitting for almost 20 minutes, someone took our order. I heard other waiters telling people what the soup of the day was. Our waiter didn't bother to tell us. Our food arrived after a bit, and the waiter walked off. He passed us a few times and never asked how our food was or if we needed anything. But, he had time to laugh and chat with the other servers in the back room (we could see him in the reflection in the mirror). Seriously, he would look over at us as he passed by, and then looked away as he passed. Yes, we were dressed respectfully and were groomed. We had to ask for our check more than once. as we left, I stood by the door waiting on my partner who was putting on his coat. Hostess ignored me. She briefly looked up at me, and then back down at something she was reading. Partner said goodbye to her as he passed her, she mumbled a weak and barley audible "thanx" and went back to whatever she was reading. Tucked away in the corner of a strip center off Wirt, Fratelli's is a longstanding staple of our Spring Branch community. I came with a group on a weekday evening and since we had a private back room, I didn't get to fully experience the main dining room's ambiance (I know they have live music on certain nights). I am not the best judgement of Italian cuisine due to allergy constraints but I thought the Pasta Primevera was pretty delicious. I loved having a medley of veggies on my plate and the garlic sauce was a great pairing. It belongs to the empty plate club for me although I could've definitely used a bigger portion. I did see my friend ordered the "Linguine Pescatore Bianco" and if I had the chance to customize my order I would probably get that the next time. Overall fairly happy with my order, service was attentive and got everyone's order/drinks out fairly quickly. Would give this place another try! read more

It took a while to get iced tea and a straw for it. I even walked around before they got busy just to look for a server. There's only one male and one female restroom for the entire restaurant. There's plenty of seating and small patio seating, so I'm not sure why there's a lack of restrooms. My co-workers raved about dishes they liked here. I went with the pollo piccata over the eggplant parm. I was worried that the eggplant would be underdone. I didn't really like what I ordered, so I ate one of two chicken filets, picked at the veggies, and had the noodles. I tried. The chicken was bland without the sauce. I love Italian food, and this was not my favorite. There weren't that many lunch options. It's a bit overpriced for the food quality. I'd rather go to Carrabba's or Olive Garden. Yesterday, I had a wonderful lunch here with a friend. I ordered off of the Restaurant Month menu. Their pear salad with melted Roquefort on arugula with tangy balsamic dressing was superb. Main dish was perfectly cooked salmon, a good sauce, buttered fresh vegetables & a pasta with mini chopped spinach & Parmigiana. Delicious! I enjoyed a lemon tart for dessert, except the meringue was too sweet. All of the wait staff was kind & prompt. Service was a big problem. Our waiter brought my Caesar salad ($12) together with my 'Kathy Ruiz' pasta ($20) entree after he forgot to place the salad order. Forgot to ask if I wanted anchovies. And made another critical mistake later on. Didn't offer sugar for the coffee. No apologies. Maybe the only want locals(?) 2 stars deducted for lackadaisical service. My friend had the redfish entree ($37) which was fresh but a pretty small filet. For the money, I'd rather go to Ciro's or the Original Carabba's which are both nearby with better food and service. read more

Recently, we reserved a table for 10 on Saturday night. On the night of the reservation, we had to cancel because the person who we were honoring had an issue that evening. Shortly after that, the issue was resolved and I called back and Fratelli's cheerfully added back our reservation. Fratelli's is a beautiful place and everyone enjoyed their food. I had the snapper special which came with artichokes and risotto. It was very cheffy with a beautiful presentation (sorry I didn't take a pic). The fish was cooked perfectly and it was crowned with two succulent jump shrimp and topped with a mild, but yummy, butter wine sauce. Fantastic! I'm not a risotto fan, but this was pretty tasty -- cooked al dente with a lovely garlic flavor. My nephew could not stop eating from mild sourdough bread! It had a semi-crunchy crust and was warm and pillowy inside. The waiter was courteous and patient with our party. Kudos to Fratelli's for being so accommodating and giving us a memorable evening. read more

I was sick so my boyfriend door dashed me the penne pasta that looked good with sausage, and chicken which looked extremely good but it was covered in garlic which I am allergic to. He ended up eating it and saying it was delicious and the e best Cajun pasta he's ever had. DoorDash doesn't say it contains garlic so it was a major accident. Their bread and dipping sauce is pretty authentic and was what I got to eat and a chicken Cesar salad which uses fresh anchovies or tasted as they did so it was a little too fishy for my taste. It's a small neighborhood restaurant and is really full during the meal time so if you're going, you should make a reservation ahead of time in order to make sure that you have a seat or a table. read more

3.5.... Had a nice dinner here with a fellow Elite during my short stay in Houston. It was the first time for both of us and it was pretty nice. There ade murals all over the walls taking you to the streets of Italy. That was cool! This restaurant is nice but it was kind of hard to have a decent conversation the night we went. Perhaps it was because there happened to be a large party seated next to us, but it was just really hard to hear each other so I think we just didn't talk much mid meal and going onward. The service was good, although there was some kind of mix up with the reservation I made. I knew I was running a bit late so I called and pushed it back 30 minutes to be on the safe side. Once I got there, I was told I didn't have a reservation, but luckily, my friend had already arrived and had a table in the back corner. It was fine until the large party got seated next to us. They were all speaking pretty loudly but we just tried to ignore it. The food took a bit to come out but when it came, we were pleased. I liked the black linguini. Never had that before and it was different, but tasty! We sampled each other's dishes and were pretty satisfied overall. The crab cake was good but if I recall correctly, it could have used a wee bit of salt. Corn pudding was fine. The parking lot outside wasn't packed at all on a weeknight, but idk about weekends since it is located in a little strip mall. Pricing was a bit above average but appropriate for the ambiance. Would I come again? Maybe, but next time I would ask to be seated in the most secluded part of the restaurant, lol! read more

It was quite busy and I wish I would have mentioned in our reservation to be seated in the room with the bar. That section had music and a more lively crowd. Our area on the other side had no music and for some reason very quiet. Husband had a glass of wine and I had tea. Tea is bigelow, not really something a fine dining restaurant would serve. Our soups were ok, we didn't finish them. Our waiter didn't ask us, almost like he knew. Because of allergies my options were limited, I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, which I didn't finish. Bringing it home so I can add some oregano and garlic. My husband didn't finish his veal piccata, the veggies lacked flavor and the pasta didn't taste fresh. Again the waiter offered no dessert and didn't ask why we didn't eat our food. There are too many slurp worthy pasta places in Houston for me to come back to bland Italian food. Who are these people? Last night I had the best meal there ever and realized I had never reviewed them. For starters, I asked for double anchovies for my Ceasars salad and got extra extra anchovies on the side of a wonderful creamy salad. Then the special salmon stuffed with fresh crab meat with mashed potatoes was extremely moist and flakey. It is hard to find salmon cooked to perfection and not be dry. This was nicely done but when I also asked to replace the green beans the waiter smiled because we had talked earlier and suggested the most incredible deep fried asparagus. I was just overwhelmed by the incredible food and service. However this is very typical of a visit here. We come just about weekly because they make us feel like other places are inept. Never mind the fact that are number one in value and quality. They are the top northern Italian restaurant in town. So seafood is always the best. Which is why I can answer my opening question "who are these people " with they treat us and know us so well they must be my family. Traveled out of my neck of the woods (West U) for this Italian option for Houston Restaurant Weeks to Spring Branch. Upon entrance, I was greeted by the wonderful live music and local couples on their date nights. It took a bit of time to locate a hostess, but in their defense it was a busy Friday night. My waiter Gustavo was patient and attentive. Overall the food was okay. I had the calamari and squid as an appetizer. I found them to be my favorite part of the meal. They were crisp and tender and in my opinion didn't need any sauce. For my first course I had the Truffle Capellini Pasta. While the menu mentioned a butter sauce the sauce mimicked an alfredo and occasionally diminished the flavor of the truffles. My second course was the Black Linguini. The sauce was similar to the first with the addition of a lemon component. I was so full that I definitely took the whole entree home. The crabmeat was limited. I had the tiramisu for dessert it was good. I appreciated the experience and can see why it is a staple in the community. However, it likely isn't the place for a fine dining experience. read more

Couldn't resist the Meyer lemon Tarte which I ordered to go since I was very full. It was amazing, tangy filling, incredible light crust and perfectly toasted meringue My friends had the rosemary chicken and redfish, both said they were delicious!
