East coast oysters: 9/10 absolutely love them! The Prince Edward Island ones always have my heart! A little on the smaller side though Gulf coast oysters: 8/10 I'm usually not a gulf coast oyster person but I enjoy how hearty and fresh these ones were. And I also don't usually love the cocktail sauce but this one was rly good a little savory, spicy, and sweet and a healthy amount of lemon juice of course. Deviled eggs: 10/10 these were nice and creamy and had good crunchy texture with the bacon bits and pickles Steak nigiri: 8/10 I would have scored these lower if it weren't for the steak. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly but it the rice underneath just felt out of place and unnecessary and not too mention too plentiful. A friend and I decided last minute we wanted oysters so we found Liberty Kitchen and gave it a try. I got a reservation for Friday evening but it probably wasn't required. We were promptly sat, and decided to start off with a glass of Prisoner. It was a good choice especially for the price. We of course got a dozen of mixed east coast oysters and they were pretty good. I then tried the seafood pappardelle and while the seafood was good I feel like the pasta was very underwhelming. At around $40 I'd expect fresh pasta cooked properly. I'd go back for the oysters and I hear their happy hour is pretty good, but otherwise I wouldn't. It seems like a glorified Olive Garden for most things. read more

It's my second time coming to this spot for brunch. They do brunch well and the portion size is just right. I ordered the fish tacos that came with fries. But weee cooked perfectly. The taro chips came with the Brie grilled cheese which was also very well cooked. Bread was crispy on the outside and the cheese was soft on the inside. My fav foods were the taro chips from the grilled cheese plate and the fish tacos were my favorite. Very fresh fish not smelly at all. None of us ordered oyster bc we didn't know where the oysters came from and we assumed it was from the gulf which is still pretty warm at this time. My wife and I and our good friends dined at Liberty Kitchen on Friday, July 3rd (the San Felipe location). The service provided by Jason was solid - friendly, professional, prompt and attentive. And the atmosphere of this strip mall restaurant was nice - pleasant and quiet. Our two appetizers were tasty, but small and overpriced (at $32 and $36, respectively). The $36 appetizer was a "special" for which we were not told the price and did not realize the price until we received the bill at the end of the meal. For entrees, I ordered the shrimp and crab risotto, which was a large portion and tasty and reasonably priced (by 2026 standards anyway) at $37. My wife and our friends each ordered one of the specials, for which we were not told the prices at the time of ordering. We assumed the prices would be in the $30-$50 range, like the entrée items on the regular dinner menu. When we got the bill, we learned the specials cost $68, $72 and $68, respectively. If we had ordered cuts of beef at a nice steakhouse, those prices would make sense. But charging those prices for seafood dishes at a strip mall restaurant seems rather excessive. I think the prices explain why the restaurant was a third full on a Friday night. I may dine again at Liberty Kitchen, but would avoid the specials and the overpriced appetizers. read more

We had a reservation for brunch on Saturday, May 30. Upon arrival, the hostess was chatting on the phone and the waiter standing next to her could not be bothered by us standing there until the manager walked over and directed him to seat us. At the table, the waiter could not be bothered with our presence. We finally ordered dinner rolls, only to find what looked like a pubic hair on the plate. We also tried to order a seafood tower only to find out there was an upcharge for mixed oysters, even though the menu does not list that. Liberty Kitchen is a nice neighborhood spot to grab a bite or drink. They are located in somewhat of a shopping plaza, with plenty free self-parking and valet. I do think the valet is unnecessary but what do I know. Anyways, stopped by on a Monday for HH and they have a pretty impressive drink and food list for HH. Being plant based, I couldn't have anything from the HH menu so I went with the vegan poke bowl and my friend got the mussels and a margarita. My bowl came out within minutes and was delicious. They added mini chunks of apples to it so that was a plus for me. The service was also really good! The bartender was attentive and made sure we had all that we needed. I think the chef actually brought out our food and it's not like we ordered anything special. What stood out to me was the manager (I think that's who she was), was cutting up fruit and my friend asked if we could have some and she obliged with no hesitation. I've been to Liberty Kitchen & Oysters twice now, and unfortunately, both visits were underwhelming. This last experience confirmed I won't be returning. Meant to have dinner there but quickly decided it would be best to go somewhere else for our entrees. My friend's cooked oysters came out quickly, but my raw oysters took much longer. When they finally arrived, they were full of small and large shell fragments I had to pick out with almost every bite. I mentioned it to our waiter, who said he'd "let the kitchen know," but that was the end of it. No apology from a manager, no offer to make it right, and to top it off, our wine pours were noticeably smaller than the table next to us, which felt inconsistent and unprofessional. For a restaurant that positions itself as elevated dining, the service and attention to detail just aren't there. There are plenty of other spots in Houston serving great oysters with better hospitality. I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

My goodness! It's the chargrilled oysters and seafood gumbo for meeeeeeee. The drinks are good too. The oysters came out perfectly chargrilled and still bubbling with goodness. The ambiance is very alluring and welcoming all at the same time. The customer service was great and our server wasn't too overbearing. When we first saw the food, we were like "oh my gosh this looks so good and then we tried it and it surpassed our expectations! There was a great variety of food from lobster to burgers! It wasn't that crowded for a Saturday night but we were there around 630. We made reservations just in case as the reviews say it can get busy on the weekends. We were seated at a both which was spacious. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some great selections. There was so much to choose from it was hard to decide. We ordered and the food came out quickly. We started with appetizers and it was delicious. They give you so much food that we had to take half of it home. You pretty well have to valet park here...it has a small parking lot in the front, but other businesses post "No restaurant Parking" signs. We came here 2 nights in a row since we stayed at hotel right next to it. The first night we had Jamie and second time it was David. They were both wonderful. The coastal board is a great dish to get to share! I ended up getting it as my meal and I was so stuffed. They have a great selection of drinks and wine. I love the decor and seating. We sat in a booth both times and I love it because it gives you a little privacy. The key lime pie was delicious and I highly recommend saving room for some dessert. Our quick weekend getaway to Houston came to an end - with our final meal/brunch at Liberty Kitchen and Oysterette on 1/14/24. I gave them a call because I was running about 15 or so minutes behind on my reservation. They were more than happy/willing to note that and hold our table for us. **free valet in the front of the restaurant** We were promptly seated in a booth with water glasses filled shortly thereafter. Our server was attentive and shared all of their specials, including off menu items. He also recommended the espresso martini, which was amazing! My husband got the whiskey flight and enjoyed each glass. My eldest wanted to try the morning farm board and I wanted the grilled oyster board. The morning farm board was cute. It came with (2) croissants, (3) deviled eggs, (3) sausage Patties, and (4) strips of mapley bacon. The girls really enjoyed this board, especially the croissants. They came with (3) spreads, a strawberry jam, butter and a bacon jam. They didn't care for the bacon jam but gravitated towards the strawberry. Husband and I shared the grilled oyster board. It comes with (2) grilled scallops over mashed potatoes, (2) bacon jam oysters, (2) grilled Parmesan oysters, and 1/2lb mussels. Those mashed potatoes were unanticipated but were probably my most favorite thing on the board. They were so creamy and tasted so good! The grilled Parmesan oysters were my second favorite. The mussels were large and fresh, in a tomato-based broth with chorizo and tomatoes. It was a good flavor, but the chunks of chorizo were big - had to break em up. Perfect broth for dipping those garlic bread points in. Our least favorite was the bacon jam oysters. Sweet and oysters are not a good combo. I would rather have (4) Parmesan oysters instead. My husband ordered the (off the menu) lobster fettuccine. For those with a tomato allergy or aversion, this is chock full of tomatoes. Good for me, bad for husband who has the allergy. Nonetheless, I gladly roll his tomatoes and added them to my risotto. It tasted good but could benefit from some more sauce - especially if you have leftovers. My eldest ordered the chicken fried rib-eye and 2 eggs sunny side up. One of the eggs were slightly over and not runny. The ribeye was okay but definitely needed that cream gravy. The grits were yum! My youngest ordered the grilled bacon & cheese, with her bacon on the side. Nothing special but I really appreciate that they were willing to put the bacon on the side for her. I ordered the (off the menu) grilled shrimp and scallops with mushroom risotto. The sauce really pulls it together. The risotto was not as creamy as I'm used to, but was still good. I'm glad I took my husband's tomatoes because it made the dish prettier and added additional "pop" to the flavor profile. Ps the bathrooms are very clean and spacious! read more

Ordered the pasta because I saw someone on Instagram order it, I think my friend ordered the basic breakfast. She said it was fine... Back to my pasta... the shrimp were cooked to perfection which I feel like is kind of a hit or miss sometimes with restaurants. However, they managed to hit it on the dot, I think there was crab meat and tomatoes as well? (Not sure but I'll upload the pictures) Didn't need any salt and it was light. This has become a go-to place for brunch among my friends. It has an upscale feel but the prices are quite reasonable. Parking in the plaza is pretty limited. You have the option to valet but self parking is available as long as you don't park in a reserved space. As the name suggests, they serve oysters, both raw and fried. Oysters are incorporated in many of the dishes, some in which you would not expect but they totally work. The servers here are great and very attentive. They pass by our table every so often refilling our waters and changing out our utensils. We had the deviled eggs as an appetizer. They're not just regular deviled eggs, though. They're topped with fried oysters and bacon jam. The yolk was also super creamy. I ordered the omelette as my entree. I would have never thought to put fried oysters in an omelette but it surprisingly works. Don't skip out on the cheesy grits for your side! After finally making eye contact with a waiter we were checked in and seated. I was surprised the place wasn't packed but it seems we may have arrived right after happy hour of some sort. We order a Smokey old fashion, and some white wine to get us started. Our waiter was very nice and gave several recommendations.
