Came here for Sunday brunch and left happy. The space has a crisp, suave, slightly tropical vibe, with big lush green plants. The taxidermied moose heads on the walls felt a little out of place to me, but hey, I'm not the interior designer. The food delivered. The Eggs in Hell were thick, savory, and filling, exactly what you want at brunch. The chocolate mousse was light and airy, properly chocolatey with just enough sweetness. Our server was a bit off the mark, stopping by the table and then disappearing for long stretches, with food arriving slowly and a few items forgotten. The grouper has too many sweet elements which I was concerned about when ordering- would have liked some savoury bite in there. Also was disappointed they didn't pack up my leftovers (got lost in communication I guess). The crab cake entree- to me the reads appetizer, which is what we did. Came with my ladies for a Friday Night dinner. Note the restaurant is valet only and is $8 after 4PM. Before 4pm, it is complimentary. It is advised not to park in other lots due to risk of towing and signs are everywhere indicating the lots are intended for those patronizing those lots. Reservations are recommended. We had seating outside. The restaurant ambience is very nice and beautiful decorated. Have calming vibes. The outdoor was perfect for our evening. The restaurant really has that classic and chill vibe for our girls dinner. Our waitress was so nice and knowledgeable. She provided a lot of recommendations that we thoroughly enjoyed. 100% honest review here. I'm going to start out with saying that this restaurant is BEAUTIFUL. No doubt, breathtaking. This place exudes southern glam! While this restaurant has some next level ambiance, the food is overpriced and underwhelming. Hear me out.. I've been here twice. Once by choice. (Inside joke) The double dip was just not good. Pimento cheese and the redfish dip tasted like someone just threw it together in at home last minutes and sent it out. Super underwhelming for the price. Also the bread service. $30 for some cornbread with yeast rolls. Everything including the jam and the butter were super confusing and underwhelming. Our waiter hyped everything up but good job selling us on it. I tried the Grouper the first time and the soft shell crab the second time. Grouper was not flavorful and somewhat bland. The soft shell crab was so small for what you pay for. $38 for a super small soft shell crab fried on top of string carrots and another veggie. Latuli is a beautiful spot tucked off I-10 between Bingle and Blalock. Parking is valet only, so plan ahead for that. The restaurant itself is stunning with high ceilings and an elegant atmosphere. We visited for an early lunch on a Wednesday, which was quiet and spacious at first, though it did get noticeably louder as the crowd picked up. Service was top notch--friendly, professional, and attentive. We ordered a few items for our party of four. The bread service was outstanding; I'm usually not a fan of yeast rolls, but these were hands down the best I've ever had. The Cacio e Pepe was flavorful and perfectly peppery, just how I like it. The Pizza Pescatore was impressive, loaded with real crab lumps. It's pricey for a pizza, but the portions are generous--definitely shareable. We were celebrating a birthday, and when we mentioned it, the staff gave each of us a small glass of white wine to celebrate, which was such a thoughtful touch. They also included a candle in the chocolate mousse dessert, adding a nice celebratory detail. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. The food was excellent, service superb, and the decor gorgeous. How does this spot not have a Michelin star!? It has all the makings! Romantic vibe, classic decor, what a sight for sore eyes. Was very exciting to watch the crowd it drew in that Saturday night, being the new kid on the block. Please don't skip the fried chicken and hummus--a combo I'd never imagine would work in my wildest dreams--by golly it's a winner, winner (pun intended). My foodie friend and I attended the Chase event at Latuli, and it was a wonderful evening! First of all, this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. The design details, from the rustic beams and large-scale vases to the pretty dishes and comfy stylish chairs, Latuli knocks it out of the park for ambiance. The servers were equally impressive: attentive, warm, welcoming, and very considerate. And the food? OUTSTANDING. Most of the passed appetizers were delicious. We both thought the one we didn't prefer (carrot) had too much lemon. The bread service was lovely as well. The remaining four courses were truly stellar... crawfish toast was savory and complex. The fish course was fresh and bright. The Wagyu was impossibly velvety tender and seasoned beautifully. The showstopper Baked Alaska was an over-the-top ending - sweet, creamy, and delicious - to a truly remarkable evening. Bravo! An unexpected delight for this upscale lunch spot . As you enter their complimentary valet only parking area you can tell service is going to be spectacular. We sat in the bar area so that we could enjoy a more private area that was easier to hear each other. Their menu offered some delicious shareable that were recommended from friends that had dinner here recently. We shared some chicken and hummus shareable with succulent slightly fried chicken that was a pleasant surprise. The hummus would give any high end Mediterranean restaurant a run for their money. Pretty slick transformation that took place at this building, moved from a commercial cleaner to this complete 180° dining space. There's valet only and it was a bit tight getting around the valet space, and I also recommend grabbing a reservation since even on a weekday at lunch they filled up quickly. The experience was more kid friendly than I expected; high chairs are available as well as a kids menu with colors! We try to keep the kids trying new food like us, and it's great when a restaurant embraces families instead of sidelining them. The menu had some prepared raw dishes, we went with the ahi tuna and avocado. Some hot shareables, of which we tried the chicken and hummus and meatball in ragu. Both had some nice craveability, my word for the certain quality that makes it hard to stop eating. During lunch they have sandwiches and they they seems to lean into some Italian touches, so you'll see some fresh takes on a pizza or pasta as well. We went with the seafood skewer, I was a bit underwhelmed with what I got as it was only 3 shrimp and 1.5 piece of fish. Maybe could've found a way to make the dish go a bit further with another side. Wife got a snapper that she enjoyed fully, not disappointed on her end. The decor and ambiance of Latuli's dining room and patio are thoughtfully and aesthetically designed. At lunch, the place was packed with a fun crowd. There was not an empty seat. We were sat in the bar which is not nearly as well appointed as the other areas of the restaurant and a tad loud and I like a loud-ish bar. The service was slow, not attentive and missing essential parts of nicer dining. The place was crowded; however, there were three bartenders. Typically three bartenders can handle a bar that seats approximately 30 people. The food we had was just ok. Presentation was average, but portions were a decent size. The food prices reflected the offerings. We both felt the menu had good variety. The bar program seems up to snuff. Drinks are inventive and around the $18 price point. By the glass wine prices are a tad higher than most places within this price range. My partner had a $22 glass of average red wine that was a tad under a 6 ounce pour. The small pour in small glasses looked cheap. We both love that Latuli offers mahjong play and lunch daily at 1:30. It's a brilliant idea. My wife and I stopped by Latuli yesterday for a quick dinner prior to an event in the Memorial area. The reservation was for 5 PM, and we were seated in the lounge area which was very busy and boisterous. Other than the fact we were able to watch the end of the Astros game, sitting in the lounge for our first visit to the restaurant was the only disappointment of the night. We started out with a couple of cocktails from the bar - A very good version of a Sazerac and a gin cocktail called Aviation that was too tart for my wife's taste. Roman was our server, and he was very informative and attentive. We were on a deadline to make the event later in the evening, so we got right to ordering. We got the Ahi Tuna Ribbons from the raw bar section. Very good app with just the right blend of soy, avocado, and ginger. Then for hot appetizers I ordered the duck and sausage gumbo and my wife opted for the heirloom tomato salad. The tomato salad was a definite hit. The fresh tomatoes along with the homemade Russian dressing and basil oil were a perfect match. The onion rings on top were good also, but perhaps only one onion ring was necessary to keep the dish more on the light side. The gumbo was tasty, but I like my roux a little thicker, so I might skip this dish next time. For the entrees my wife ordered the Snapper and Swiss Chard dish - very very good!! One of the best snapper dishes I think I've had. Very rich with the onion soubise topping. I had a dish off the "Daily Special" portion of the menu - Tempura Flounder with Asian xo sauce. This dish was the bomb, and why I love chef driven restaurants. Lightly breaded (seemed even lighter than typical tempura), with a very flavorful and medium spicy xo sauce. Crisp on the outside and moist on the inside and seasoned well. Served with a pickled greens salad. Great dish. The only side we added was the Sweet Potato Patatas Bravas. It was OK, but not great and we were getting full anyway. Really my mistake because I didn't notice they were sweet potatoes prior to ordering and sweet potatoes are not my thing. All in all a great meal with great service, in a great space. Only a month or so in, and this meal hit on all cylinders. I've had some great experiences with Jordan and his bourbon flights, but tonight we sit at the bar for the first time and see what this side of the restaurant is about. Laughter with glasses clinging in the background sounds like my type of white noise. Chris started off with a friendly greeting and optimal chilled martinis. I already feel cured. What else cures a long hard day you ask...caviar service...Golden Reserve Caviar Service...nuff' said. If you have the time to show yourself some self love...just get the caviar service, with an invite, I'll split it with you because it is a must try. After giving Chris a happy plate of emptiness, we go for the ribeye and Denver K cut. They know how to cook a steak to proper temp here and I can appreciate that. My k cut was soothing to my soul, but can we talk about the fingerlings cooked in duck fat? Put my leather belt in there next time, render it in duck fat and I'll eat that too! It was so good I neglected to capture it for you. I'm not much of a sweet tooth, but what pairs well with a carajillo...a fried honeycomb cheesecake. This was our 2nd stop on our food scene tour of Houston. We had reservations on a Thursday night to sit on the patio (thank you, Katie!) I was immediately struck by the atmosphere both indoors and outdoors where guest's comfort was in mind with every detail. There was even a sofa chair in the bathroom. Back at our table, we started with cocktails and bread service. I'm not sure that I've ever been blown away by a bread service, but the dinner rolls and corn bread brought out in a cast iron dish were an immediate stunner. The assortment of butters (I think the sumac was my favorite) had us keep this starter on our table throughout the entirety of our meal. Continuing with the apps, we felt we had to order the shrimp spring rolls. They were light and crispy and the sweet chili dipping sauce they came with rounded out my taste buds perfectly. I love that they didn't skimp on the shrimp. The entire shrimp was inside that roll. Deciding we were going to be sharing everything, we also threw in the chicken & hummus which were essentially perfectly fried chicken fingers in a bowl of tasty hummus with vegetables and some spices mixed in, served with pita on the side. A simple but memorable favorite I wish I had readily available at home. For our mains we ordered the snapper, cacio e pepe, and caesar salad to pass around the table. The snapper was delicate and buttery, a light protein that was a fresh in season catch. Same with the Caesar salad. You know what you're getting into with it (most of the time), and it was well done for a healthy tasty staple for the table. The cacio e pepe was unexpected, in that it was also simple to the eyes, however tasted incredible. Each of us agreed it was a favorite of the evening and kept passing it around until the last bite. Chef Bryan Caswell used to run Reef in midtown, a fantastic seafood forward Gulf Coast restaurant that closed it's door a little over 6 years ago. Thankfully, Caswell wasn't quite done with Houston as he linked up with his new business partner Allison Knight and together they opened Latuli in May of this year. If you know anyone living in West Houston and ask them what's the new restaurant getting all the talk lately, chances are they'll mention Latuli. We recently made reservations with another couple to celebrate a birthday and I finally got a chance to see what all the buzz was about. First off, the restaurant is a ground up new build and it is very well done. The interior is filled with unique art and exotic taxidermy bringing together what feels like an upscale Texas ranch reflective of world travels. There is a private room on the second floor with it's own bar, but beyond that, you'll spend your time on the first floor between the bustling bar room and dining area with vaulted ceilings. Since we were visiting during December, they had 2 large Christmas trees lit up in the dining area which was a great festive touch. Service was tip top. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we were expecting the usual gratis dessert and a candle and the end of our meal, but instead they started the night out by bringing us prosecco to toast to the occasion. It was a nice twist to the usual birthday move. Besides that, our waitress was personable and happy to help us navigate the menus. The entire front of house staff did a great job making the night something special for us. The menu can be described as Gulf Coast with worldly inspiration, and much of that comes from Caswell's previous restaurants. If you ever ate at Reef you may recognize the crab cake, pork chop, wild boar ragu, and wagyu barbacoa, but there's also plenty of new plates to enjoy like their steaks sourced from local Texas ranches or various fresh takes on seafood. We started with the Double Dip, a shareable plate that included both smoked redfish dip and pimento cheese, and the bread service which included a freshly baked poblano gruyere cornbread and yeast rolls. Both great and picked clean. Our entrees were the seared snapper, wagyu barbacoa, crab cake, and tempura fried grouper. Since we were all first timers, we shared bites and had a hard time voting who's dish was the winner, but I think the crab cake beat out the others by a hair. My tempura fried grouper though was really a standout to me. It came on a bed of what I can only describe as an acidic ginger and chili oil that really cut through the savory fried fish perfectly. Long story short, no bad dishes. With 2-3 drinks each, our bill for 4 totaled to just under $400. Entrees range from $37 for the chicken up to $58 for the beef filet, but you could also be just as happy ordering from the "Roman Holiday" portion of the menu which include freshly made pastas and a pizza ranging between $26 to $30. If you're looking for something worth the hype, I think you'd be happy with your visit to Latuli. We're definitely looking forward to adding them to our date night rotation. read more

Update: During our visit our waiter brought us a complimentary prosecco to share in celebration of our anniversary. A lovely gesture. As I was looking at the receipt the next morning I noticed that we had been charged $13 for the "complimentary" prosecco. I am certainly hoping that that was an error that the restaurant will rectify. I have sent an email and will update with their response. We did not request anything complimentary nor did it in anyway affect my review, which is why it wasn't mentioned in my original review. The food, service & environment were lovely. I stand by my original review but hope they will correct their error. Updated: no one ever responded back. Keeping my rating the same but check your bill carefully before paying is my advice. read more

Really odd dining experience which was surprising given how well reviewed this place is. My two friends and I stopped by around 4:45 after work in the middle of the week and were immediately told we could only sit at the bar or outside. When we left the restaurant over an hour later, the entire inside was still empty aside from like two tables. We ended up sitting outside, our server was a bit odd, he wouldn't give us the dinner menu because they "hadn't started dinner service yet" but given we were only a few minutes away from it beginning by that point we wanted to take a look at it so we could be prepared to order once it was time. We ordered a margherita pizza and when offered meat toppings, said we preferred none because my Muslim friend couldn't have pork. He proceeded to bring out a pepperoni pizza, we sent it back and it took another 15-20 min for the plain to come out, we were still charged for it AND for the extra pepperoni we didn't ask for/sent back. The rest of the food was just okay, not at all redeeming the lacking service and weird vibes. The waiter was also having a hard time describing some of the menu items. The boar ragu tasted like pasta with tomato sauce and ground meat that I could make at home, no unique dimension of flavor which was disappointing for $30. At the end the server asked us if we had "come from school" while we were clearly dressed in business clothing with work bags and had been discussing work during our dinner, and while I don't think it was purposefully ill intentioned, it came off a bit belittling and awkward. Didn't help that the only parking option was valet for $8. Overall we all agreed we would not return nor recommend, so many better spots for food in Houston with better service read more

I visited this restaurant last Sunday with my family for brunch. My mom and I ordered the steak dish and asked for over-easy eggs, but were told only scrambled eggs were available, even though another dish was served with over-easy eggs. That was confusing and disappointing. See attached for reference. The server also forgot my husband's soda, but it still appeared on our bill. The Sunday brunch menu is very limited, and overall both the food and service were below three stars. The ambiance is pretty, but unfortunately, that's about the only thing I liked about this place. read more

My family had dinner here with another family last Sunday. The restaurant is fairly new (I believe they said it was opened in May). The restaurant is fairly large and occupies the entirety of a newly built stand-along building. Parking is valet only ($8 charge). The interior is beautiful, very tastefully done. Elegant in a rustic way. Service was very good. We had: Some type of a Ham pizza (special menu) - (4/5) - The ham was flavorful and the pizza was well baked. It was a bit on the salty side. We shared one as an appetizer. My daughter ended up ordering another one as her dinner. I had a slice and will say the two were not very consistent. The 2nd one was even saltier and had more toppings. The Double Dip (4/5) - Smoked redfish dip and pimento dip served with potato chips. Good flavor to both dips. My wife and I split two steaks that were off the special menu: Flat Iron Skirtsteak (4/5) - My wife preferred this one. Denver Steak (4/5) - I preferred this one. Both were good (not great) steaks. Overall, the menu is eclectic, everything from Italian to South American to "gulf" local. I didn't think any single dish was a "5." That said, the restaurant is beautiful and I would not mind going back for another meal. read more

I came here for Sunday brunch. I was surprised that there weren't a lot of brunch offerings that appealed to me. I ended up getting the "truffled toad in a hole"--with chicken sausage. The sausage was links instead of crumbles. The truffled flavor was very subtle. It was just kind of a bland meal in general, and not what I was hoping for. It was frigid inside, so we sat outside, and even though it was October, it was very unpleasant and there wasn't much airflow. Our waiter was very upbeat and wanted to be accommodating, so that was nice. Everyone liked their food well enough, but I wouldn't say anyone was wowed. Also, parking is totally valet. There's a lot across the street where it's ok to park when the business building is closed, but the restaurant staff advised against parking in any other non-valet area. Gorgeous! I've been wanting to try this restaurant since it opened recently, and I was blown away by the beautiful decor and ambiance! The servers were super friendly and considerate, and the food was spectacular for the most part. The bread service is a must. It comes with their house yeast rolls that were perfectly chewy with an excellent flavor that paired wonderfully with the whipped butter and jalepeno/poblano jelly. The Gruyère corn bread was okay and slightly too sweet for my taste. The Gulf Shrimp cocktail was okay and was served with 3 different sauces. The Double Dip was super craveable and unique. The kennebac chips had a super crispy texture and went well with the redfish dip and pimento cheese. My main course was the Roasted Grouper which was slightly disappointing. The fish didn't have a lot of flavor other than butter and the corn pudding was a little strange and an odd pairing in my opinion. The House French Fries are a must try. The potato texture was perfect and the garlic aioli was delicious. The Batata Brava was also a must try. The sweet potatoes were super pillowy and they were coated with a delectable sauce and paired with diced pecans. On to dessert: The 7 layer chocolate sheet cake was excellent with so many different textures and flavors! The spiced peach cobbler was also delicious and the brown butter crumble really made it even better. My diagnosis: beautiful decor with good food where certain dishes are hit or miss. read more
