So discouraging. I interview telephonically. And it went well. I go in for person to person interview. Told all went well. Except my availability. I asked interviewer store hours. He specifically said open til 10. I later found out they're open til 11 pm. Why'd he lie??! Asked to take in my SSN card by phone interviewer and yet. The mgr that interviewed me had me fill out paper work (just in case he said knowing he was playing me!) but never asked to copy my SSN card. I KNEW then he was just shafting me. Clearly bored with me this mgr yawned continually during my interview never once apologized. Left me standing out front waiting 10 minutes AFTER I'd been specifically told to show up EARLY. First he lied, then I felt he was more intimidated by my experience cus I know I was qualified. The need TO HIRE urgent I'd been told. Yet he didn't have the nutsack to call and tell me why I wasn't selected. I know why. Black on black racism is the worse people. Shame on this guy. He lied about operating hours prolly reflecting that's why I wasn't hired cus of my availability when I clearly stated I needed this pt job. I'm employed full time so I'm not gunning for his position. But it's nothing new to me. It just saddens me. Guess I'm too strong of a blank woman for this weak arse black brother. His loss. It's easy to compliment the staff as helpful and courteous, but if you really shop in this store you will start to remember them by name. The deli team this morning was a true delight. Tonya, Tina and Tammy-I'll call them the 3 t's, were all very busy making sure everything was being put out fresh. Every single time I shop the deli section of this store I have one of the best experiences. This morning, Alex, their grocery manager, was in the area while I was there. He stopped his conversation in order to ask me if he could help me with anything so I made sure he knew I was being helped, and have always been quickly assisted. As a single working woman, I want to experience new healthy dishes. If you're unsure about something, you can taste test it. I can't tell you how many times I have bought the very thing which intrigued me but wasn't sure I'd like it. In their meat department, Shelia is very knowledgeable, quick to help and her advice is great! If you're unsure about a cut of meat, or need to order something special, she is the one I ask. I know I have written about a less than appreciative experience one year, but I also updated that furious post when I was surprised by their quick corrective action. It saved them a regular weekly shopper. And now, I've become a regular fan. Yes, the parking lot gets busy sometimes. Lots of stores and a restaurant in that center, but traffic usually keeps moving. I truly enjoy shopping at this particular Fred Meyer. Just like any store, there are pros and cons. There are way more pros than cons here though. Let's start with the ONE con that I do have. PARKING: although there are many entrances and exits at this store, majority of shoppers will park from the two main entrances, which is where produce is, or where the optometrist and clothing department is. On a busy day, Saturdays and Sundays for example, it may be difficult to find a decent parking spot. One time I just got tired of hunting and went to park where the gardening section was. Parking is not a huge deal breaker, but the lot is smaller compared to some other locations. Now, for the pros. The store is amazingly clean! The employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. If they are unsure about a product or a location of one, they will find out for you. The aisles here are a bit more spacious as well. Produce has very fresh fruits and veggies, and they're well stocked for the most part. The deli and prepared foods department always looks nice and yummy. I'm always tempted to buy one of their sandwiches. The deserts look just as appetising and fresh. The department I am usually in the most is their seafood and meat department. Their showcase of meats and seafood is just out of this world. The displays of individually cut steaks, chicken, sausage, and much more, makes you want to buy more. The folks at the counter are so helpful, and make decision making much easier. In addition, I also drop off my prescriptions at their pharmacy. I have never seen so many people behind the counter at a pharmacy before. THAT'S A COMPLIMENT! Places such as Walgreens or Rite Aid, there are just a handful staffed, which makes the wait time so much longer. Fred Meyer's pharmacy is fully staffed to obtain prescriptions from the start, to filling them, and then releasing them to their patients. They work as a team, and it's like clock work. I was amazed. I can go on about every department, but this review would be more of a novel. I have never received poor customer service at this Fred Meyer. The cashiers are also so upbeat. At my most recent visit, David was my cashier. He engaged in conversation with each customer until their happy exit home. Some folks don't care for small talk, but most do. (At least from my 10 yrs plus of customer service.) Even if it's a "How are you? Are you having a nice day so far? Or, did you find everything you were looking for?" questions. Thumbs up to David for a 5 star service! Last but not least, I do enjoy using coupons. I do follow policies, and their store is very easy going about scanning coupons. Some folks get so annoyed scanning even 5 coupons, but this location is easy going and understanding. Hey, who doesn't like to save some money? Overall, this Fred Meyer location is great, minus my one slight negative about the parking. I hope their staff keeps up the great work because it is much appreciated! read more

I'm torn between 3 and 4. I'd give this place a 3.5 if it was an option! But this place is super convenient, it's almost a 1 stop for everything. and it's a huge store. Not as big as the one located at Renton Ave. They have pretty good deals on most of their stuff. It closes at 11PM (much later than most stores). They have two aisles for self checkouts. It never phases me why people who don't know how to use self checkouts end up going to self checkout aisle which holds up the line. Customer Service is mehmeh. But I really don't ask for much because it's freddys. I've been to this freddys' forever so I pretty know where everything is so I don't pay attention to the aisle signs (but I wouldn't doubt if it was wrong). They're truly good with returns. If you're using a card, you don't need to bring in a receipt because they can look it in the system through your card. The parking lot? mehmeh. It's almost kind of a cluster-fuck because there's cars/pedestrians everywhere. it's get crazy during rush-hour times! Plus, there's a Bank Of America close by. read more

Cashiers slow and not accommodating. Felt like I was at a Kmart or the Walmart down the hill. Trying to buy my son a birthday gift on my lunch break, wasn't even in a rush because my son's birthday is in a month, but took extremely long at checkout. I really enjoy the store and have since it was built. Recently, they built a gas station. For the past 4+ months, I have found the windshield cleaner holder either empty, full of filthy water without any soap, all paper towel dispensers empty, or broken squeegees. I think Kroger just wants to sell gas and not provide what it was built for. Manager notified every time but no change. read more

I usually love Fred Meyer and employees seems to be friendly but lately I have been hearing complaints from customers just waiting in line. Especially the night before Father's Day... there were only two checkers and the lines were soooo long so I decided to go to the electronics department to check out and I had about 20 items in my cart. When I got there to check out there was no one in thAt department and the checker said we can only check out about 11 items and told me to go back to the front of the store. I understand about following the stores policy but there was no one there he was just standing there chatting with his fellow employees...so why can't you help check out and help the front checkers since lines were all the way in the shopping aisle? I ended up waiting in one of the two lines and people there were so frustrated that's it's taking so long. One of the shopper said I give up n leaving her cart full of groceries in the line. I waited 25 minutes before a checker checked me out. That evening was just ridiculous... manager or schedule should've scheduled more people especially it was Father's Day and graduation weekend. I regularly order online and reserve a pickup time. They haven't been ready with my reserved pickup time every time the last two months. Today I had reserved a pickup time of 3:00 pm-4:00 pm and I still had not received any notification from them so I called them at 3:20 pm and asked them what was going on. They told me they had called me, left a voicemail, texted me, and emailed me to let me know my pickup time was changed to 6:00 pm but they never had contacted me in any way. They never called, never left any voicemail, never texted, and never emailed me so they lied about that. When I told them I was never contacted in any way and asked why my order was rescheduled they told me it was because of Covid and they were understaffed. This is what they've told me every time the last two months, every time they've been late. Then when I told her that she hung up on me. Hanging up on a regular, loyal customer is UNACCEPTABLE. Safeway is never late with their pickup times and in fact, they're often early. The Benson Plaza Fred Meyer in Renton has some very serious customer service problems and if someone orders online and reserves a pickup time then Fred Meyer needs to hold to that and not change it to a later time when someone may not be able to come. This is a very crowded FM location. Difficult to navigate the store during rush hours and long check out lines.

Whenever I come here, I am disappointed by the rude and uncaring employees. I picked up a notebook and made my way into the electronics section. I did not see anything that I liked (they did not have animal crossing, one of the most popular ds games... But ok), so I decided it was time to checkout. An employee was eagerly asking me if I needed help, so I said " I'm ready for checkout please" he said "you can go up front to buy that" and I said "nah, I don't feel like walking over there and standing in line" (I know it sounds rude but I said it politely) . So he got his boss to ring me up. As he was ringing me up, he started yelling at the man who initially was helping me, saying how he has to make me buy things in the other areas of the store. Right in front of me! As I'm walking away, he is yelling at the poor guy saying how he should have put his foot down and insisted I go elsewhere to purchase my stuff. Excuse me? Are you yelling at him for securing a sale?! I'm over here trying to BUY something, and you want him to tell me to go somewhere else? You want me, the customer, to walk and stand in line? Now I know that guy was not in the wrong, because I have been working retail for awhile as well, and the main thing you are responsible for is MAKING SALES. The only reason why I'm leaving 3 stars, is because Daychelle Williams in the deli section is so nice and goes above and beyond. read more

I go here all the time almost daily different times of the day usually and am astonished on how they never seem to have carts especially on rainy days. You look around the parking lot and find the attendants huddled up in the cart carousels talking to each other. love this store, this is my go-to store for all my needs. I prefer this store over Safeway and Albertsons, which are at an equal distance away from my house. The prices are competitive with competitors, I can literally get anything I want from tools, to food, to hot dinner, to cleaning supplies. Love it! Another amazing thing about this store is there is a Fred Meyer gas station right there, so I can fill up also. This works out great for me because I have the Fred Meyer rewards card and get 20 cents off PER gallon at the pump per 100 Fred Meyer points, which are not too hard to earn since I shop there everyday. The staff is nice and friendly, and I love that they have slef-service check-out, gets me out of there quicker. The store has 3 entrances which is great for easy access. Overall great store. I guess I feel weird rating this "3 stars". I employees are nice when they want to be. I couldn't find the food coloring one time and the man helping me couldn't find it either. (He got kind of grumpy at me for it..haha) The only problem I run into here is the people that shop here. EVERYTIME I go in there, I run into rude/idiotic people. I will always try to pick this location over the one in downtown Renton because it is far less ghetto. On a Saturday or a Sunday afternoon their lines to check out are out of control and they are understaffed. The waiting area for the checkout stands is a little too close to the aisles so it gets crazy backed up and full of people quickly. There is always a super long line at customer service. Having said that, they have really good employees and pretty good prices. I enjoy getting my rewards checks mailed to me. They are almost done installing Fred Meyer gas!!!! read more

This is my 'local' Fred Meyers, but I usually drive out of my way to avoid it. This store has constantly long lines, terrible customer service, and low stock on common items. I was attempting to check out today with about 6 items. Self checkout was completely full with a line and getting worse at 2pm, not some late night where business is expected to be slow. There were 2 checkout lines open and no effort made to open others. The checkout for grocery needs to be addressed to say the least I went to the apparel selection to checkout, I had a couple clothing items and some grocery items to leave with. To no one's surprise, there was a long que at that checkout too! When it finally was my time to checkout, I put my humble amount of selections. The checkout teller, Irnya, a red headed woman that I've seen work there for years, saw me approach, she didn't greet me, ask me how my experience was or anything else. She seemed to forget not only basic customer service skills, but respect for another human in front of them, workplace or not. Instead of acknowledging I exist, she looks me in the eye and said, "I'm on break, someone else will help you." She then proceeded to flag down a different employee, told them to handle the line that had formed. The obviously surprised employee ended up helping me out, and the other subsequent customers of the formerly abandoned line. The employee confided in me that she didn't think she was covering that job. There are a lot of management decisions that are directly impacting the customer service. It's obvious staffing isn't adequate, that labor hours are so strict that an unexpected jump in customers causes chaos. I don't think I'm alone when I say that checkout should not take longer than the shopping experience, or be stressful in anyway. Other Fred Meyer locations are doing their job right, why can't this one? read more

I realized after arriving here the second time last night that : A. Fred Meyers does not wuss out like SouthCenter Costco and close at eight thirty like it's in a retirement community. B. I have been here before. The last surprised me because I was not entirely sure where it was until the second time. I had a full night. Anyway as usual they have good deals on whatever you need or want. For me it's their buy two bakeware get one free dealio. They also have pretty good clearance on shoes. However beware the "sale" shoes that are seven dollars less as opposed to the same label 10-40 dollars less. It can cause physical pain in some shoppers. read more

Thank goodness I stopped going to Safeway. Kroger/Fred Meyer dairy is so much better than Safeway. The produce is above average, and the prices and produce is better than safeway. This is a nice, reliable place to go for groceries. It's clean and well stocked and the staff members seem competent. Nothing particularly extraordinary about this location but nothing particularly bad either. It's what you would expect from a grocery store. I wish their was a negative star choice. I don't usually ever do returns, but this I did because I spend alot of money and this plant shipment that came in all were all having issues. First I called Burien where I got my items and they said I could return it to any FM, so I went to one close to me. They called up a lady to help with my return. First, this woman accuses me of being some other person saying I remember your husband came and bought a lot of these plants. I told her I had no husband, so the fuck? Than another lady stuck her finger and said the soil was dry. I told them that they were so wet and damp, so needed to dry it out. Than the lady said it was unfair to bring the return to them after I told them customer service said I could, like why is it my fault? I've never been treated so shitty. I work in retail so yeah I get it, but how they handle it was unnecessary and I'm never going back there. Unfortunately, I know no one will care and just blame it that I was the rude one. But at least I'm never going back to be treated blike shit again. Hope that lady learns to be kinder to people. read more

I know, Fred Meyers, its a grocery/ clothes/ garden store. But I do like this place. Its definitely a one stop shop. I like the deli because they have my all time favorite Gas station BBQ Burrito! if you get the burrito, you have to eat it with the taco sauce! MMMmmm! lol... But not only do they have the burrito but they have fresh veggies and the prices aren't bad. I dont like to go grocery shopping or buy stuff for the house but Freddies make is easy. I have always been a fan of fred meyer. There grocery prices are very competitive and they have decent prices and selection on home good and hardware items. True all in one shopping possibilities. I was really sick on Sunday and went to the urgent care next door where I was given 7 scripts. I went right to the pharmacy and told the guy I needed 3 immediately and would come back for the rest. He tells me 30 minutes. I sat there getting sicker by the minute when an hour approached. They finally tell me mine are ready and I get to the counter and she tells me sorry for the wait, my insurance wouldn't cover the cough syrup and rather than tell ME, the patient, what was going on and what my options were, she called the urgent care and had them change it to a cough medicine that doesn't work for me. I told them you don't do that to people, you let them know what's going on. I say I want the script that was written for me, I'll pay cash. She says I'm not allowed to. I say fine, give me my script back and I'll go to CVS where they will let me. She gives me my script back with "cancelled" written all over it and had the nerve to tell me it was still good. It wasn't, and at that point urgent care was closed. The next morning they told me all they had to do was call them to get an approval from the Dr that it's ok to pay cash. They didn't give me that option and destroyed my script. This isn't about a pharmacy having an issue because it had a narcotic in it. They were completely out of line and unprofessional. I intend to complain further because they shouldn't be doing stuff like that to anyone. read more

In addition to the "one-stop-shopping" concept that others have mentioned, I'm also a big fan of Freddy's because they have great prices on brand-name shoes, particularly children's shoes, and also on housewares...you might be tempted to think you can do better at Target or Walmart on these items, but you can't. And I love Target for other reasons...such as their extensive selection of professional haircare products, but would never dream of going there for their crappy shoes or over-priced housewares selection. I come here a lot since it's on my way home from work. I'm used to the layout, so it's easy to find things. Parking can be a pain in the ass sometimes when it's their busy time (usually when I go of course, haha) but it's not too bad. Benson Fred Meyer is going through a remodel right now and I can't say I like having to hunt down what I need, but it the does look great so far. Except for the aisle size, please make them larger! Two carts can't fit down the aisles next to each other anymore. Not fun to experience having to completely back out of an aisle so someone else can go by. Other than that I have to note that the staff are almost always engaging,friendly and go above and beyond to help. There's one young lady (I didn't get her name but she's glowing with pregnancy right now) that I always try to find when checking out. She's fast, can hold a conversation and never gets annoyed by my husband's love of coupons - even when he seems to always grab the wrong thing. I may need to find a part-time job here to support the amount of shopping I do. read more
