I have been taking my vehicles to Freedom Tire for many years and I must say they are one of the best in the business.....however, they recently introduced a "service fee" of 3% on all services that are paid with a credit card. They do not accept checks and most people do not carry several hundred dollars cash. They have a right to charge whatever they want and the customer has a right to find another place to do business. I have been coming to Freedom Tire for years and they have been very good to me. Freedom Tire is a locally owned shop and not some chain that is just looking to upsell you repairs you don't need. They are 100% honest with you which is the number one reason to go here. They have very reasonable labor rates, certainly much cheaper than a dealership, and they have all of the latest tools to diagnose a problem with your car. A few special reason to go here: 1. For those who have sports cars or lowered vehicles they recently installed an inground lift that can get your car on the lift without any damage or need for ramps. 2. For those with big OEM or aftermarket wheels they have a very expensive mounting machine guaranteed to not damage your wheels. 3. Their NH state inspection fee is the cheapest around. I have been taking my Honda CR-V to Freedom Tire for the past 3 years. The folks there have taken great care of my car. I get all my regular maintenance done there as well as inspections and 2 sets of tires. When the first set of tires wore out prematurely, Freedom Tire made good on the warranty without any hassle and that's why I got my second set of tires at Freedom! Great people !!! read more

Grrrr. I've had bad luck here many times over the years. First I bought some snow tires that didn't work in the snow. Really. They wouldn't let me trade them in for tires with traction (Goodyear stopped making that model soon after). There was the wheel that they put on the car without tightening the lug nuts all the way. That was a mess. There was the time that someone driving their truck tried to run me off the road. There were the times that a 15 minute wait took over an hour. After a while I gave up, but my wife kept going there. Now all four of her tires have developed cracks in the same part of the tread. They don't know what to do. They called Michelin to find out & it's been almost a week with no answers. What do I want? Replace the cracking tires, prorating them for wear. If they're not going to do anything, watch this review go from two stars to just one. It's a pity. They were convenient and the guy that runs the place is a nice guy who's been there forever. But they don't always stand behind what they sell and it's hard to trust the competence of the mechanics. I've heard other stories too, but that would be hearsay and we don't do that here. Now that there's a Stratham Tire just up the street, it will be interesting to see what happens. Update 11/29/07: They did the right thing for the problems with my wife's four tires, though it took them a week to decide. Their two stars stay, and I still avoid the place because as Gilda Radner used to say, "it's always something". read more

Freedom Tire in Plaistow, NH put a state inspection sticker on my handicapped van this morning. I am a 100% service connected disabled veteran. When the technician removed the old sticker to apply the new one he damaged the window tint that is part of the state of NH approved, doctor mandated (with a written prescription and state waiver) window tint. There is a large area all around the sticker that is now missing the tint. It is very visible and will peel easily now that the integrity of the film has been compromised. This is my third new van (it is a 2013) with a window tint and the problem has never happened any other time I have had a sticker put on any of my other vehicles with the same tint. I wasn't even told that they damaged the tint and but noticed it immediately upon entering my vehicle after their completion of the safety inspection. I called it to the manager's (George Blaisdell) attention and he told me that the tint was improperly installed and that perhaps a cutout should have been in the tint to accommodate a sticker (WHAT!) and made all kinds of other lame excuses for their shoddy removal of the old sticker. I will be calling numerous veteran agency's, newspapers as well as other groups I belong to and dog groups to voice my displeasure at their work and at how it is a medical necessity and even a matter of life and possibly death that this not repaired but that talking to them was to no avail. I will also be sharing it on Facebook of which I have 1634 friends and on my blog of which there are over 2100 followers. I will be posting this review at the local Dog Park. In all fairness, I will be speaking to the owner of Freedom tire, John Guide to see if I can get any satisfaction from him and will update my review accordingly. I used to bring my tires here often, every time I came up to visit and needed something fixed. They were pretty fast, and just for repairing a tire with a small hole, very affordable. I think now that there is a lot of competition in town, they might be more expensive, and to me its not worth paying more. I am cheap like that. read more

For over 20 years, I have lived near Freedom Tire in Plaistow. I have had all my cars inspected and repaired there and have also bought all my tires there. I have found their work thorough and excellent, and the tires were the quality that was expected for the price. The men there (George and Andy) have been friendly and know their business. I have even called them by phone about problems I was experiencing and they gave me advice at no charge. I see a couple negative reviews here from people from far away in Massachusetts and wonder why they had their service done in New Hampshire and have some doubt about the authenticity of these reviews. I'm not one to write reviews and I know most people only review when something has annoyed them. But I've been using Freedom Tire for years. Yes, I've had issues with tires that came from them .. but they aren't the manufacturer. They aren't even the distributor -- they're a reseller. And in each case, they've done what they can to either get the manufacturer to refund/fix or they have secured good discounts through OTHER manufacturers for replacement. As far as their service, they are great. I've never had them try to sell me something I don't need. I HAVE had them tell me I need something, but don't bother right now. They are friendly and the place is clean. As mechanics go, you can't beat them. read more

As with any service/retail company you are going to have mixed opinions. I've been using Freedom Tire for years. Their pricing may not be the lowest, but I have found them to be very honest. I've had issues with cars and they've given me real options, not just worst-case doom or gloom pay us now sales pitches. They are friendly; the place is clean; and when they perform maintenance, they do it right. 95% of what I go to them for are simple things .. oil changes, tire balancing/rotation/repair, etc. But the 5% that is more serious, I know they are going to give me the best option. Regarding tires, they don't make the things -- they are very limited to what they can do when a defect occurs. But I have found they will work at getting you the best deal possible. read more

I think this place is great. I've gotten honest and fast service consistently for about 5 years. I can't believe they are being given mediocre to poor reviews. I have recommended at least three people go there and they have told me that they are number one on their list. The mechanics know what they are doing and they don't try to constantly "upsell" like Stratham Tire does (from what I hear). On January 16th we brought my wife's car there to have 2 tires replaced and an alignment. Total cost $352. When asked there were no issues paid the bill and received an alignment report. My wife brought the car back to Freedom Tire on Saturday February 27th for an inspection. They told my wife the vehicle would not pass inspection because of a bad ball joint. Needless to say my wife said shouldn't that have been noticed during the alignment last month. Yup, sorry we missed it. They tell her the computers are down and can't give her a cost for the repair. My wife gives them my daytime cell number and tells them to call me Monday. I receive a call from Ron at Freedom tire on Monday March 1st. Of course my wife is now driving a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. He proceeds to give me a cost of $345 for the repair, and tells me its $225 (and change) for the part and $119 labor. He acted as if he was doing me a favor by telling me there were is no charge for another alignment. I explained to Ron that doing another alignment at no charge shouldn't even be a question. I ask Ron why this wasn't caught during the alignment and he didn't really have an explanation but apologized. I commented that I brought the vehicle there a month ago and asked them to point out any issues, and now a month later I'm told that the vehicle my wife and young son travel in is not safe. His response was the state inspection uses a different standard then the alignment, so I called BS on this (I caught Ron in several lies). I told him that he should make right on his mistake and eat the labor, he agrees to split the labor cost, so still almost $300. Now we get into the fact that there is no way the part costs $225. I told Ron that I got a cost from another shop and the part was $90. Ron tells me that can't be the right part. I tell Ron I will call him back. After hanging up with Ron I call Golas Brothers Auto Parts in Plaistow. I've used them many times for parts and can't say enough good things about them. I would highly recommend them over the box store across the street. Anyhow, I ask for a cost of the ball joint for my wife's car and am told approximately $30 and twice that if I want the best quality one with lifetime warranty. I call Ron at Freedom tire back and tell him that he is buying his parts at the wrong place. Ron tells me again that it is the wrong part and the ball joint is part of a complete knuckle (another lie). So I call Golas back and ask them if the ball joint is part of the knuckle, I'm told it is not. I call Ron back again and this time he tells me that it must be an inferior part and for him to be part of the Goodyear network he has to use high quality parts and the part Golas is offering must not be good quality (another lie). I ask Ron who makes the part he is using and to give me a part number. He tells me the ball joint is made by Moog and gives me the part number. So I make yet another call to Golas and give them the Moog part number. Golas confirms he has been looking at the correct part and confirms the cost of that Moog part number is $60. I make another call back to Ron at Freedom and give him this info; he puts me on hold for a bit and tells me he will call me back. He calls me back and tells me he doesn't know why he is being charged so much for the part and now offers to do the complete job for $152. I told Ron he should put himself in my shoes. They tell me a car they worked on last month has issues; offers grossly inflated parts cost and did not once just admit they screwed up. I reluctantly agree to have the work done. On Saturday March 6th we drop the car off. I tell Ron that I want the old part and the box from the new part. Once the work is complete we pick up the vehicle. I pay and Ron gives me the old part and box. I ask where the copy of the alignment report is, he tells me that the printer on the alignment machine isn't working. I shake my head, and he tells me that "we're not going anywhere". I seriously doubt they ever did any type of alignment on the vehicle. I will NEVER use them again and I figured I would forewarn anyone else from using them either. I have no doubt that this is simply a case where they had a customer that knows a thing or two about vehicles. I question how many others have been ripped-off having not known better read more
