I have grown up as a Honda guy, owned 7 of them in the last three decades. Overall, great cars, easy to maintain, and relatively reliable. When they decide to stop being reliable, it can be just as frustrating as any other brand car. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fortunately, Freeway Honda is close to my work, and I feel the folks there in the service department from the service advisor to the technicians are honest, communicate well, and are empathetic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Feb 2026, my 2017 CRV ran erratic while I was taking my daughter to school. And the SRS indicator came on. I took the car in, Matt Waddington check me in, help me arrange for a shuttle to get to work. He communicated well to keep me informed of what all was happening, and had the tough conversation with me to inform me the costs as the SRS system needed some replacement sensors and a reel[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The irradtic engine response was due to failing fuel inectors. Of course the car was out of warranty and it woudl be about $3800 worth of labor and parts repair. I authorized the repair and they finished within the time frame they had me expect. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately last week, less than 4 months later, the car ran erratically again. Fearing it would be the fuel injectors again, I had it towed back in, and spoke to Matt again. He checked me in and I was on my way. By the end of the day, he reached out to me to provide some bad news. Blown head gasket[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Car is well over warranty in terms of age and mileage. It was going to be expensive to repair, the quote was in the several thousands. Definitely a gut-punch when I had already had to spend close to four grand on service for the car about 4 months prior. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Matt was willing to reach out to coorporate American Honda for me to see if they would be able to help me out in any way shape or form out of "Good Will", he also arrange for a loaner vehicle for me so that I would be able to tend to my daughter's needs easily as my back up car is a S2000, which is a 2 seater convertable. Not a safe option for a babyseat[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. In the end, American Honda was not able to help me out, respectfully due to mileage, age, and also because I was not the first and only owner of the vehicle. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Freeway Honda though, did extend some good will to help me out, which means the world to me and my family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Anyone with a Honda, or plans to purchase one, I would highly recommend giving Freeway Honda a visit. I have a 2019 Honda CR-V that I bought new in December of 2019. I took it to Freeway Honda to be evaluated because of some vibration when stepping on the brake pedal. They said I needed new front brakes, which still had 7/32nds on them and that I needed new rear brakes including new rotors which still had 8/32 nds left. It's interesting that I needed new rear brakes again when they are the ones who installed brake pads 12,508 miles prior. Something was not right. I chose to go elsewhere only to find out that a different dealer had installed the front brake pads incorrectly and there was nothing wrong with the rear brakes. The new dealer installed the brake pads (which were still good) correctly and now there is no longer a vibration in the brake pedal. I will NEVER return to Freeway Honda for service or for anything else. Buyer beware read more

- Dishonest, Deceptive, and Totally Untrustworthy I've unfortunately financed 2 vehicles and leased 1 from Freeway Honda over the years -- and I can confidently say this is one of the least trustworthy dealerships in Southern California. First deal? They tried to tack on bogus fees. Only after I strongly objected and got the assistant manager involved (Joe Zinno) did they honor the original offer. That should've been my first warning sign. Later, I leased a car and financed another van. The deals weren't great, but I went along with it. Then came the worst part: I brought my leased vehicle in for a safety recall, and their VIP Sales Director, Patrick Harding, called me with a "special lease upgrade." He sent me a written offer (PDF) that promised: $0 out of pocket No sales tax or doc fees Lower monthly payments I made it 100% clear I'd only come in if those exact terms were honored. Terrible place for business, my father and I came in with an open mind, looking for a price that was ideal for us for a new 2025 Honda CRV-LX, we were assisted by Jorge the salesman who was great, unfortunately we wouldn't say the same about the sales manager who immediately swooped in to take over the deal. From the get-go this older white gentlemen was condescending and tone deaf and immediately wanted to throw crazy numbers at us. He kept presenting information to me and acting as if I was too young to understand. He continued to undermine me I assume for my age. I tried to explain to him what the numbers I had received elsewhere had been and he immediately proceeded to basically throw us out. Explaining I was stupid for not taking those numbers and that I was ridiculous. I truly want to give this gentleman the benefit of the doubt he seemed very old school and I hope he didn't treat us this way due to our ethnicity, but it was lamentable and deeply saddening that we were run out for trying to do business. A simple conversation that could have concluded with "we are too far on the numbers unfortunately " were instead overlooked by a rude gentlemen which seems to not have been his first time treating someone this way. Took my car in on 7/27 for paint chipping in over 4 areas of my car all covered by warranty. Was told it would take 1-2 weeks for Honda to get back to me and service my car. 3 weeks later, I give them a call, and they tell me it could take up to 6 weeks. After 6 weeks, I'm having to call both American Honda and Freeway Honda on a weekly basis and get told each time that it hasn't been approved yet. After MONTHS, American Honda tells me that dealerships get to pick and choose which cars they service, to which I then become LIVID. I finally get furious enough to give a final call to them on 10/25 to which no one wants to claim responsibility because they're not the ones in charge of my case. So conveniently the next week on 10/28, they call me to tell me I can bring in my car. I finally bring in my car, and the service manager tells me that the person in charge of my case, Saib, is not there, so no one can tell me what fixes my car was approved for but that Saib will give me a call the next day. The manager tells me that my car will be ready by 11/8, if not sooner. Mind you, they don't provide any rental or loaner cars for this. I don't get a SINGLE call from Saib for an entire week, so I called the office on 11/5 but again, he wasn't available. I demanded he give me a call back, and suddenly he's able to give me a call within the next few minutes. He calls me to tell me he just spoke with the body shop who told him they needed to order parts for my car despite me taking my car in for a PAINT REPAIR and stated my car won't be ready until 11/15. It is now the end of the day on 11/15, I have gone WEEKS without my car, he hasn't given me a single call since then, and I still don't have any update on when I can get my damn car back. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS AND AVOID HONDA IN GENERAL. read more

RIDICULOUSLY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT!! ZERO STARS! After a Jiffy Lube didn't replace the skid plate correctly, it got damaged while driving. I take my car to the freeway Honda service department after talking to a representative on the phone who told me to be there at 5 o'clock. I get there about 4:15 PM. The service guy who greets me tells me that there are no text because they all leave at 2:00pm. I informed him of what the woman said on the phone and then he says oh no problem. He talks to his mechanic and they argue for five minutes really loudly and then finally the guy comes back and says "we will look at your car." 10 minutes later, the service guy comes back and says here's a list of parts you will have to order and then make an appointment to come back for us to put them in. oh and by the way, there is oil all over the bottom of your engine, so you should probably come back soon so we can see how bad the oil leak is." I used to live in Huntington Beach and Norm Reeves Honda service department was wonderful. No being on hold several times. Nobody arguing in front of customers. Customers not having to order their own damn parts. Staff who seemed like they actually knew what they were doing, let alone being friendly. I am very down to earth person. I've read a lot of reviews written by seemingly crazy people who go on and on about how horrible customer service was. I am not that person. This was truly ridiculous. I got a warning sign stating "some driver assist feature cannot operate: radar obstructed" right after I left the dealership for an oil change. I suspected the dealership did wrong because that was not an issue prior to coming to the dealership. I emailed them to tell them of the issue and brought in my car later in the week to get it checked out. After some time, they said they THINK it's the fuel sensor and recommended I replace it. It was still under warranty so I didn't have to pay. However, after fixing the fuel sensor, it still didn't fix my issue with the radar being obstructed. Then I had to come back again another day, and then they finally figured out that the radar cover in the front of my car was popped out a bit, which obstructed the radar. They told me the cover won't clip back on and recommended I replace the cover and the total would cost $180 ($10 for the part and $170 for labor). I was scheduled to come a week later, as I had to wait for the part to come in. So I asked one of my friends to check out the issue. And he literally popped back the cover on in like 2 seconds! I was very pissed that the dealer lied and said it wouldn't clip back on, when clearly it did! I reached out to the service advisor via email asking if I can pick up the cover part, since I paid for it already (and told them I was going to have my friend help me put it on). The service advisor then proceeds to tell me that I would have to pay a diagnostic fee since they didn't charge me that during the last visit and if I choose to decline the job with them. How much is this diagnostic fee, I asked. $170. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I proceed to tell him it doesn't make sense to me that a diagnostic fee would cost $170 dollars, when you quoted me for the job/service about that much, which you said included the part (roughly $10) and labor. So if there is no labor done, how is the diagnostic fee $170? SO ILLOGICAL! And I also highlighted the fact that I had to come back MULTIPLE TIMES because they failed to diagnose the problem initially and that when I came back for follow up visits (due to the same message appearing even after they "repaired" stuff), he said the diagnosis would be done at no charge. When he finally replied back, he said they will do it at no charge for me this time and I can pick up the part at the parts department. Long story short, these guys are a bunch scammers. read more

I have been experiencing several bad mechanical failures with my 2014 Honda that I purchased on March 8, 2023 from another dealership, in which it turned out that I had inherited a problematic used car. I hope before people decide to come to this location they look at their reviews before purchasing any car. If it's going to be their first time or trade-in they go ahead and read my review of all the discrepancy they have in this freeway honda located in Santa Ana. I went with my husband because we saw a chevrolet in there that had a price change. So we went in and the salesman gave us a quote about what was outside in the vehicle. We have pictures that will be listed below with this horrible discrepancy unfair practice. They came back and quoted us with a document showing how the price was outside the lot of $34,099. Once we agreed to the price they went with finance they were like we can't do the price that was stated in the vehicle which was $34,099. I went ahead and reached out to the sales manager via email. I believe his name is Derrick. He was saying unfortunately I'm not able to give that price that was quoted in the price. He kept saying it was a human error that HUMAN ERROR should be caught before having the vehicle in the lot. It is not our problem that HUMAN error should be caught before giving me a quote on a piece of document. They want to give me the car for $39,498. They should respect the price that was in the vehicle. As a female it's easy to feel intimidated by all the car lingo and not quite understand all that's needed but Erick Zermeno went above and beyond with insuring I understood and my car was serviced quickly each time. He has made my experience amazing (that's saying a lot because who really wants the hassle of servicing their vehicle). I am beyond thankful for him and his help along the way insuring I had a ride to work while my vehicle was in the shop.
