I am extremely dissatisfied. I used to love this place and came here all the time. Today, on my birthday, we went to pick up a 10-inch tiramisu cake--for which I had specifically stated that I am ALLERGIC to strawberries. When I placed the order, I requested peaches instead; I didn't mind paying extra for them. The problem is that I now have my birthday cake right here, and despite having told them that I am allergic to strawberries, they left them on--and gave me no option to have them removed. I'm sorry, but I will not be returning. I am very disappointed

Coming here can be a hit or miss. Mainly has to do with the staff in the front. Sometimes they ignore you and seem irritated and sometimes they are complete sweethearts. This makes me dread coming from time to time. The only reason I continue to come is because of their cakes. Both the chocolate, vanilla, and tres leches are amazing. I think their desserts are worth making the trip to this place. One of my favorite desserts is their yogurt slice cheesecake. Which is a shocker because I dislike cheesecake. So it says a lot.

Large variety of fresh pastries with ample seating options inside or on their covered patio. Menu by register has breakfast and lunch options from sandwiches, crepes, etc. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice little place to grab a coffee and something to eat with friends.

I love this place! Their bakery is great, you can tell they use in-season ingredients. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their fruit tarts! So good. They use marzipan instead of custard in some of them (which is how it should always be in my opinion). The prepared food is great too. Very local vibe here. The baristas and counter people are always so sweet.

I just left French bakery, I ordered a $50 cake, a danish and a large latte. I asked the lady if she could please add light foam and mostly milk. She handed me the coffee cup about half full. I politely explain to her. The coffee was strong for me and if she could, please add some milk. She then walked to the far end of the counter with her back towards me, and the two ladies proceeded to stand there and talk quite loud about the white lady, looking over their shoulders, and laughing. Really unbelievable, The owner of this bakery should consider educating their staff on Customer Service and professionalism

Please do not eat here.. your health can be at risk! Their food is not safe to eat, their place has been inspected and had so many health violations! Their water cups were all still wet before they even let them dried up to use. They leave their tables dirty and don't clean it. Their food is not that great at all, please don't eat here. Health can be at risk!! This place is super unsanitary. My friend ordered this breakfast croissant and the same day, he got food poisoning and started to feel ill! PLEASE be careful if you decide to eat here, I advise you not too.. it's your choice.

Not sure why all the bad ratings. Maybe from back in the day. This place is solid. Great breakfast food except for the bacon.

Came here based off of a recommendation from one of the bartenders at Campfire. He had told me they had a great non-alcoholic program and amazing seafood dishes. I didn't realize this was a Michelin star restaurant and didn't realize they had a tasting menu but I was interested in a la carte and the options were fantastic. First off, I was wearing flip flops and when I walked up to the restaurant, the people dining outside were beautifully dressed, men in suits, all that. I asked the hostess if I was under dressed and she made me feel so comfortable and said of course not and that people can wear whatever they want in here and that they're not fancy, it's California. Loved that. You never know what to expect coming to a restaurant like this so that initial welcoming was awesome. I took a seat at the bar, I was dining alone and this is a great spot for a solo evening. The restaurant is absolute perfection. I mean the pink, velvet booths, chairs, bar, decor, everything was intentional and just stunning. They had an open kitchen concept, which was just the coolest. I loved watching the kitchen in action. I would say it was organized chaos because every kitchen in a restaurant is chaotic but it wasn't, just organized and passionate. The bartender Colin was so friendly, so knowledgeable, helpful, exactly what you would want in your employee working here. I told him I was traveling up the coast and he gave me restaurant recommendations along my way. The more interactions I had with the staff the more you could tell that the people who work here take pride in where they work and the kind of work that they do. I love that. I ordered the Tonique to start, a non-alcoholic drink with blane aperitif, chamamile, gentian and sparkling water. It was refreshing and delicious. For a bite I had the yellowtail crudo, an absolutely stunning dish. It was so delicious. The woman who brought my food over described it to me in great detail. I felt like all eyes were on me in terms of the stellar service. In reality, the people who work here were all eyes on everyone making sure the experience was special from start to finish and it was. I would love to come back here one day and do their tasting menu, I was visiting Carlsbad for the first time and wanted to restaurant hop so I kept my visit short and sweet. So glad I came in here.

Ambiance and vibe check on point…read more The evening started with an amuse-bouche that was delightfully well balanced. It was the perfect introduction to the meal. I skipped the raw bar and for drinks, I opted to order a cocktail on the menu, Milk Punch: rum, coconut roasted oolong, tarragon. Absolutely loved it... so smooth, balanced, refreshing, and the perfect complement to each course. The Course meals I chose Une (1): Lamb Tartare. Fresh, delicately seasoned, and a beautiful way to start the meal. Between courses, they served warm milk bread with avocado butter. Pillowy soft with rich, creamy avocado butter. Deux (2): Oursin. Rich, creamy, and balanced. I personally like my sea urchin cold, so if you're like me, I would recommend trying another course option Trois (3): Caille. Quail with morels, strawberry, and pistachio. An unexpected combination that came together effortlessly. The thigh part was ever so slightly not as tender as I would have liked. The bottom leg portion was cooked perfectly. Quatre (4): Vacherin. Light, refreshing, and the perfect ending. Not overly sweet, with just the right amount of tart. This was my favorite. Surprise parting bites - a buttery cookie and truffle chocolate were such a thoughtful way to end the evening. Nothing felt overcomplicated or done just to be different. Every dish had a purpose, and the service was warm, attentive, and perfectly paced. The service was impeccable. I noticed some yelp reviews complaining about the optional 4% fee. It's written that you can ask them to waive the fee. I'm usually skeptical of added fees, especially when service is mediocre and lazy servers still expect a minimum 18% tip. It was refreshing that Jeune Et Jolie didn't. When I first sat down, I absolutely planned to ask have the 4% removed, but after experiencing the exceptional service, I happily left it and even tipped 20%. I'll definitely be back to experience the next seasonal menu.

I was pleasantly surprised by the chewy texture of the complimentary bread offered at Paon, and one bite took me back to the streets of Paris where I strolled along the Seine River munching on my baguette. Our waiter only offered one small piece each, so I had to ask for a second piece. If my meal were just the bread alone, this would have been a 5-star review. Unfortunately, my dining experience declined after the bread... I ordered the Organic Beet Salad, and it was a disappointing stack of 3 round pieces of beets, each 1/4 inch thick and 2 inches in diameter, topped with arugula and small pieces of pistachios sparsely scattered on the plate. My friend and I looked at each other and asked, "what happened to the rest of the salad?!" Seriously, $21 for 3 pieces of beets?? My friend ordered the French Onion Puree for $19 and got a regular sized serving so we continued to ponder what happened to my beet salad. It was the joke of the evening. This dish was an unconventional spin off the traditional French onion soup, and sadly, while it was a creative idea, it failed to deliver in taste. My favorite thing about French onion soup is the gooey gruyere cheese. There was a small dollop of melted brie on top and that was it. It was a disappointment, but not nearly as sad as my beet salad. For my entree, I ordered the Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass $55. The fish was very tender, but the dish itself was extremely buttery and oily. I ordered this dish because I wanted something healthy, but it turned out to be a very heavy dish. The basil beurre blanc was just too overwhelmingly rich. My friend ordered the Seared Rare Hawaiian Yellowfin Tuna $52. The execution on this dish was better than mine. For dessert, we shared a Creme Brulee $18. We did not like this dessert because it was room temperature and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. We like it chilled but with the hard sugary glaze. The top wasn't torched enough. Overall, while we enjoyed the ambiance, we did not really care for the food (except the amazing bread). Seeing how much we enjoyed the bread, it would've been nice had our waiter been more generous and offered us more bread. A good server would be more proactive and not wait to be asked.

First of all, they told him they only had decaf and were out of espresso, coffee beans! WHAAAT!????? (so I'm making coffee at home right now) Argh. Secondly, he got 4 pastries, and seemed to think they MAY have 'fresh' croissants in the back, but couldn't remember if they grabbed the other pastries from the display or not. Said there were about 4 or 5 workers, but they looked completely unprepared for the day. When he got home and we opened the pastry box, everything looked half baked. The croissant was more like bread - not crispy or flaky or even golden brown, and the others didn't look completely baked either. We also ordered a Quiche Lorraine plate. That was decent, but very blond (not beautifully browned as it should be). It was so strange that on such an important day they would be completely unprepared- no coffee, old baked goods and did you see my display pics? It's like they closed the shop yesterday, didn't clean anything out, didn't organize and just left it. The signs were knocked over, the trays weren't straightened and like I said, it looked like they had a huge rush at 6:30 AM and were already sold out - which is highly unlikely. Wow, did they lose their baker? Is the boss out of town and teens are running it? Who knows ... but I sure won't be back. I expect high quality French cuisine, and pastries (per the name and reputation). Don't waist your time getting the moms anything here today. Sad.
