I am a Foodie and Fresco is one of my favorite restaurants because the FOOD is delicious, innovative and satisfying. The chef will prepare anything you request. That is a delightful theme to be explored. Tonight I had linguine with clams in white sauce. One of the specials had the seasonal hen of the woods mushrooms I adore. Yes, they added the mushrooms to my clams. Wow! The crusty bread with the accompanying olive oil cheesy dip is heaven. The Caesar dressing is perfect. We called 10 minutes ahead on a lovely Saturday summer evening, and were seated right away. The space is pretty big - we were seated on the other side of the dining room that faces the street in a cozy little nook. Just had an amazing dinner with my mom. We were celebrating her birthday. This was my second visit to Fresco, the 1st was also a birthday celebration. Mom loves herself some eggplant parm, and was not disappointed. The portion size was HUGE and they even switched out the pasta,(normally it comes with penne) to angel hair. I am less of a fan of Italian, but was more than satisfied with the NY Strip steak. It was cooked a perfect medium. We started out with what I can only assume was homemade bread, all warm and crusty. It came to the table with what in recent years has become a norm, oil. The whole idea is really hit or miss, sometimes you ends up with just really greasy bread. That was definitely not the case here. The even red color of the oil was not just attractive but amazingly delicious. Oh and with the parmigiana cheese in the mix, to die for. Okay maybe I love my carbs a little to much, but still AMAZING. Mom started her meal with a mixed green salad, and as with everything that came to the table, a very generous portion. The Monday night crowd was decent, though admittedly we did arrive early (about 5:15). The restaurant is spaced out well, so as more people arrived we didn't feel crowded. They also have a very reasonably priced special that include a bottle of house wine 2 entrees and 2 salads (I think, I know the wine for sure and the entrees, but the other is my best guess). It seemed like a really good deal with a decent selection of entrees to choose from (though we ordered off the regular menu). Before I close, I have to mention the excellent service we received from Sandra, she was very attentive, even as the number of tables she was working increased. She also very kindly told us the offer a free desert to birthday celebrants, which I just kinda love! There was no singing or clapping, which is so common in the corporate restaurants, and for me just embarrassing for everyone involved. The kindness of this gesture on the part of Fresco's is not lost on me. It reminds me of the family restaurant (also Italian) that was in this same space when I was a very small child. (Through out a great many years my parents took us their for dinner). I guarantee if you check them out you will completely agree. My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary on a Monday night with the intention of getting the $35 meal for two that includes 2 entrees, a bottle of wine, and 2 salads. We're grad students so we love checking out restaurant specials, and this is cheaper than our takeout orders come in at a lot of restaurants, and wanted to try something different. We both ended up abandoning this plan and ordering the short rib pasta which was delicious. We also got the fried mozzarella app which was huge. We both had leftovers to bring home because the portions are very generous here. My parents came by to visit a month later and we brought them to Fresco, and we had a similarly great meal that time as well. The caprese salad stood out as one of the tastier things we got. The monday night menu only really includes the italian classics- think meatballs and spaghetti, chicken parm, stuff like that. It looked really good and we will be back to try it soon. Definitely worth noting that we were some of the younger adults (by a lot) in the place both times we went (especially the first visit on the Monday) so don't go expecting a the hippest vibe in the world. Came across this place through Yelp and walking along Main Street. They had a wonderful 2 person dinner special - bottle of wine, salad, entree. Split a chicken marsala and chicken parm. Was delicious, especially the penne with the chicken parm. Huge entree portions. The bread they give in the beginning dipped in olive oil with pepper flakes was a great way to start. Salad was fresh. We decided to try this restaurant after seeing all of the positive reviews. The service was good but nothing else lived up to the hype. The food was nothing special but the portions are large. Given the amount of good Italian food in the area (including Masseria down the street) this definitely did not even come close. The worst part were the cocktails. We tried three different ones and they all tasted like straight fruit flavored vodka. It was hard to even get down. The couple at the table next to us ended up sending their drinks back. read more

I had heard about Fresco in EG and couldn't wait to try it. We went in on a Saturday night at about 5:30 and there were plenty of tables. As six approached, the restaurant got very busy and I would recommend reservations if you plan on eating there on a Saturday. The menu selection was huge and the server also mentioned quite a few specials as well so it was hard to decide. I had the pork tenderloin and it was easily enough for two people. My friend had the swordfish chop and I have never seen a piece of swordfish that was cut that way, huge and bone-in like a steak. Everyone ate as much as they possibly could and when we left we practically rolled out of the door. The staff was very accommodating and we had a wonderful time. The window seat was a little chilly as it was a very cold night but otherwise we had a completely terrific experience and would recommend to anyone. read more

This is easy. 4 stars for food and service but 1 for the temperature inside the restaurant. Ok, it was hotter than hell yesterday outside but there is no reason why the restaurant was extremely warm to the extent that all eight of us were uncomfortable. On the other hand, the swordfish chop as they call it, which is the cheek of the swordfish, is outstanding!! The most tender and moist swordfish you can eat. I've been to Fresco four tiand all four times I've had this and it is fantastic. We will return, but definitely not on a hot day. read more

I had been to Fresco a few times since it opened several years ago and had found that while the food was pretty good, it was always too dark and crowded. I decided to give it another shot last night, especially since they now have on-line reservations. Since it was so cold last night, I wasn't surprised that it wasn't too crowded when we arrived for our 6:30 reservation. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had lightened up the place with a lighter paint scheme and slightly brighter lighting. I wasn't too happy when we were seated at a two-top jammed up against another two-top, whose occupants didn't seem to notice us trying to wedge ourselves into our seats (and the "gentleman" was pushed far out from his table). I've never been one to make a stink about where I've been seated, unless we're so close to the bathroom that we can smell it or something, so we pulled our table back a bit and made do. Anyway, on to the food. The menu had been changed since the last time I had gone there, and there were plenty of things that I wanted to try. Additionally, our server, who was professional and pleasant throughout the evening, recited an extensive list of specials. We ordered the fried artichoke hearts special appetizer (good, but not awesome; something that I liked, but I would want to try something else next time), my fiancee had the seafood risotto, which she loved, and I had a scallops special, which I thought was also quite tasty. We split the bread pudding dessert, which was yummy. My fiancee also tried a couple of different martinis from their drink list and said they were strong and delicious. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience at Fresco. I wish they would space the smaller tables out a little more, but I understand their desire to pack 'em in. I really like it here. The appetizers alone are enought to satisfy one's hunger for delicousness. We really enjoyed the grilled pizza. and these eggplant things...yummy. And the bread and olive oil concoction was amazing! The seafood chowder was trying a bit too hard...you know pretending like it wasn't even trying. It was a clear broth with a small chunk of white fish, a whole clam, a whole mussel and a piece of shrimp. I went here for a friend's birthday tonight. The server was AMAZING, rattling off menu items in detail and was extremely attentive even though the restaurant was busy. Best service ever! They were able to modify the eggplant parmesan to accommodate my vegan diet. It turned out pretty good! The arugula salad was delicious! Last Tuesday evening, my friend and I stumbled upon this place in EG, trying to find a restaurant with decent food and decent prices. After leaving two places for exorbitant entrees, we were pleased to see reasonably priced items here. 1) Food. We ordered the appetizer of short ribs and mashed potatoes. While it was a delicious appetizer, it was INCREDIBLY difficult for two people to share. I had kind of thought the short ribs would have been singular instead of all together. The manager/owner saw it was our first time here, and presented us with a free appetizer of grilled artichokes, cannellini beans, and shrimp with a balsamic reduction. I hate seafood (and I've tried it often over the years). I figured, why not try the shrimp, it's free?. I'm glad I did. It was the first time in my life I've eaten an entire shrimp! Thanks Cafe Fresco! My entree of chicken risotto was great, as well. 2) Service. This was the golden star here. I wish I remembered my waitresses name, because she had me salivating over the specials (that were seafood, nonetheless!). She was knowledgeable about the menu (as well as pairings), and seemed to really understand what patrons want. She checked up on us often, at all the right times; never intrusive, or overly present. 3) Atmosphere. It's EG. Every place has the same view, similar setup. This restaurant was clean, inviting, and comfortable. All in all, I was very pleased with my experience here. I have been to Fresco several times over the years and the food is always excellent! I really enjoy their grilled pizzas and pasta dishes. The sangria is yum-o and the service is top notch! I recently helped host a baby shower there for 45 people and could not be happier with how helpful the staff was and attentive to our pain in the butt requests like extra tables, garbage bags for wrapping paper, help getting stuff in the restaurant, and take home containers. God help them, we were HIGH MAINTENANCE and they were nothing but pleasant! read more

The menu is eclectic, even the pizzas come in unusual as well as the popular varieties. I usually stop in for their fantastic pizza deal in the bar area. Pizzas, risotto and seafood dishes are a must. I've never had a bad meal here. Seems like a good deal and looking around it appears it's the way to go since most of the other tables are going that route. Wife got the baked scrod which was about a 4oz portion, looked ok not too appealing to me My 5 year old had the chicken parm with penne Sauce is good the chicken looked too dark to me and I figured it was over fried. I found it to be too over done so it was dry and chewy even though the breast was pounded out before the cooking process. I was recommended the evening's special which was a 16oz swordfish chop The swordfish kind of fell apart as I'm trying to cut pieces from it. Never have I had swordfish that had this texture, it kind of felt like it was formed to a shape of a pork chop with the rib bone. Weird is all I can describe it. The mango salsa topping was blah at best. Not to mention it surely did not look like it was 16oz to me. Not worth the $30.00. My friend and I went for dinner recently. Siena was closed, so we decided on Cafe Fresco. I wish I had gone to La Masseria instead. Before I get into the food, I have to say that our waitress was very nice. She made sure we were comfortable and very attentive. Unfortunately, great service will not get me back into Cafe Fresco. All of the food (with the exception of dessert) was extremely salty!! I drank so much water. Soup and entree bordered on inedible. Had some tiramisu for dessert and it was so sugary, I could actually crunch on sugar crystals. The waitress was kind enough to lower the bill for us. However, I still won't come back until the kitchen can use a salt shaker properly. Salting food seasons it...I should still taste the food. I will not be coming back. read more

I came here last Friday evening after a sunset cruise in Narragansett and was quite pleasantly surprised with how wonderful this restaurant is! Fresco is located on a a quaint little main street of restaurants, and it was actually nice to walk up and down the street before coming in for the reservation I had made through Yelp. When we arrived, I was immediately impressed with the bar side of the restaurant. Had I not made a reservation and been seated in the dining room side, we would have been happy to sit by the bar! There were tvs, a large bar, but it was still quite intimate for dinner in a bar setting. We were led to our table in the dining area, and I loved being able to see out the window onto the street of everyone passing by. We were immediately greeted by our waitress (who was wonderful), and were brought a bread basket with the most delicious dipping oil. One of the things that really caught my attention with this restaurant is this menu - it is quite expansive, and really can cater to just about anyone's tastes. I, of course, just had to go with one of the specials and ordered the grilled veal chop for my entree, but we also ordered the arancini and short rib sliders for appetizers. The food was absolutely outstanding. The short rib sliders were juicy and tender. The arancini had a great crispy outside, and the rice was cooked PERFECTLY on the inside (actually quite a trick). I will add, that the arancini came with a red sauce, and while I do not normally eat red sauce out - it was fantastic! (and I would consider ordering pasta at my next visit!). The veal chop though - was out of this world! It was tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. My husband and I went with another couple. Liked the raw bar specials, but everything else was very pricey. Waiter did not say how much the specials were -which I am not a fan of when you have to ask-which we didn't and wished we had. At $30 per plate it was over priced and mediocre at best. My salmon was dried out but had an oil slick on the bottom. Desserts were VERY expensive too. After walking out spending $150 per couple, I was very disappointed and will not give it another try. I came here for some fresh fish and that's definitely what I got. I ordered the salmon with pesto sauce and rice with some sort of broccoli greens. I wasn't too excited about rice being a side since I don't really like rice, however this was some very good rice. It especially went perfectly with the salmon and greens.
